You need 3 things:
The Firmware ICS 4.0.4 for International Version): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874 or ICS 4.0.4 for AT&T Version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961310
RSD Lite: http://fwteam.grupoandroid.com/OTAs/RSDLite6.1.5.zip
and Drivers: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/78863/p/30,6720,8109
About firmware: If you have the AT&T version you should download only the AT&T Firmware
Later of download firmware and install RSD Lite and drivers What you need to do is:
Connect the phone to PC
Turn off the phone and then press the volumen +, volumen - and power button, the three at the same time.
Then, you select AP Fastboot.
Open RSD Lite and click the three points (...) and select the firmware downloaded
Click Decompress only wait and...
Click Start button and wait...
Obviously in the proccess do not disconnect the phone. And you need 60-70% of battery at least.
It takes about 10 minutes aprox and the first boot takes another 10 minutes. All you need to do is wait until your phone ask you to SELECT A LANGUAGE.
This video can help you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prToF5JXqSA
the difference is that you must select your firmware downloaded.
I hope this help

Works great! Updated the baseband to the latest one! Boohoo! *homer*

It will work but if it's modified in any other ways then the update might fail.
Updating by this method will remove your root but you can easily regain it, just follow the root thread.
can I run this update from 2.3.5 rooted or I should make 2.3.6 OTA first?
Yes. It is just a modified updater, all the changes are same as in OTA.
Having a problem. When I do the OTA update, it downloads it, restarts, starts to install, then I get a !. When it fully reboots it says, failed to install update. When I tried this method, stated above, I press System Update and it still wants to download, it has no copy option.

FOUND - Need 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03 India retail firmware

Hi,
I have an Indian Atrix 2. I recently rooted it and un-installed some system applications like Email and Gmail etc. using Titanium Backup without taking a backup. After doing it everything works fine but I am getting force closes every now and then with messaging app.
I am wondering if any Indian users here can post Indian Retail firmware backup so that I can update my phone back to factory state. I tried factory reset but that didn't help either.
Firmware version is 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03, android 2.3.6.
UPDATE: Download "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET_cfc.xml.zip" from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
That's what I was looking for
If you tell me how, I'd be happy to help. I'm not yet rooted though.

How to root 2.3.6 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Then dowload and install A2 Bootstrap ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977
Then install CWM ROM Manager ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en
Run the bootstrap, reboot into recovery, and make a backup.. The system image will be stored on your sd card.
This is how one would do it with the US version, hope it all works for the Indian version..
Note that this will copy your system and data in it's current state... it won't give you the stock FXZ that you are looking for.. but you might be able to get clever and grab only the stock apps you need and push them to your device..

Just thought of this, not sure if it will work - have someone with an your version of stock rooted A2 make a titanium backup of all the apps and data, then make a CWM backup as briefly described above, and get you a copy the backup file. Then, put it on your sd card in the clockworkmod/backup folder, use Titanium Backup and the "Extract from Nandroid" option. Choose the critical system apps that you need and restore (maybe the apps only, no data).
Actually, maybe you could skip the CWM part entirely and just copy the stock Titanium Backup files into your TB folder on your sd card..
Maybe somebody here knows a bit more about this? And can't you just get Gmail from the Play Store?

Thanks, been a bit busy. This is exactly how it needs to be done. I have mine rooted, so I can use CWM to restore the backup taken this way. I would really appreciate the help.
I flashed all the custom roms but all are AT&T based, have lots of restrictions, like network selection doesn't work, tethering doesn't work, *#*#4636#*#* menu doesn't work.
This could be of help to other people too. If AT&T roms work on mine than I believe there's no difference in hardware on our's or US devices, so US people can flash it too to have a real android device with no restrictions whatsoever. And if a developer can create a custom rom based on this that would be wonderful.

Will appreciate the help if you could do this for me. Its a little complicated process but once you follow the steps it is fairly easy, hardly took me 15 minutes to root. And please backup your apps after rooting with Titanium Backup and then factory reset and take a CWM backup here, that way none of your personal information will be there in backup file.
I know I am asking for something that will take some time.... I am around if you need help with any of the steps, do let me know.

Sorry mate, I didnt find what I was looking for so I gave it to service center. And they are processing a replacement for me. But just now I found this http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Go to your phone's settings, about phone and see if you find below information listed there:
edison_emara-user 2.3.6 5.5.1-EDEM-27 70 release-keys2012-01-20 19:57 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_23_120120_1943 crh1090280_M570_PC_CARD_RAINB
If I remember our is same version as above. If it is, go to above link and download "5.5.1-EDEM-27-ASIAOPS_cfc.xml.zip" and flash it using RSD Lite. And if you find it risky, just extract system.img from this zip file and go to fastboot mode (vol up+vol down and power on, select AP Fastboot) and in cmd type fastboot flash system system.img and it should flash system image only to your phone.
This should make it work, I wish I had my phone with me. Try if you are comfortable and understand the process well. Good Luck
And if you can, could you please upload a screenshot of Setting - About Phone screen here? So that I can match that information with other versions uploaded on that link, we may find retail Indian firmware, may be...
Ok guys, good news. I had a backup of my phone before giving it to service center. N I confirm that "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET_cfc.xml.zip" file given at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php is the Indian Retail Version everyone is looking for. I just matched the versions with my backup and this is exact same copy we need. So guys flash it without worries...

I am sure you can. Hardware is same. I had Indian version and when I screwed it without taking the backup, I flashed AT&T stock ROM and it worked flawlessly so Indian ROM should work on yours too. Only difference is, Indian ROM is not restrictive like AT&T, its what non carrier branded handset should have, everything works. I would suggest try it. I don't think there will be an issue, and even if you come across any issue, you still have stock AT&T FXZ/SBF to flash... So nothing to loose in my opinion.

I assume you have motorola usb drivers installed, could be found on Motorola support site easily (cant tell you the link now, at work right now).
Then just wait for firmware download to finish. Install RSD Lite and run it. Turn off your phone. Now hold Vol Up+Vol Down together and press power key, you will see 4 options, select AP Fastboot. Now connect your phone to PC using cable. Now the RSD Lite screen should show your device listed in the white blank box. After that click on "..." icon on RSD Lite and select the firmware file you downloaded. After all this, just hit the Start in RSD window and wait patiently for few minutes. Once it is done your phone will restart and boot into your new firmware. That's it... Enjoy
Do let me know if you need any further help. Right now I am planning to go home, will only be able to reply tomorrow morning hopefully.
Sorry, cant mail you right now, no access to personal email sites at work

It didn't work? Hmmm... I don't have my phone to try anything new yet, will get a replacement next week. Anyways, in my other thread here in General Section, xda Dev "cogeary" is working on a custom ROM based on Indian Retail ROM with additional features taken from Chinese ROM, like call recording, spam SMS/Call blocking. So its just few days till we start getting real good ROM's here. So keep visiting here.
Facebook, yeah. But I don't add strangers
Just kidding, will add you, though I hardly use FB, just have it to keep in touch with old friends.

How to make volume button not activate screen

So I have a question......My husband loves his phone except for one thing, when the volumn rocker is pressed it activates the screen. So after doing some research it seems the only way to change this is to root it. True or not???? Here is the information from his about phone screen:
samsung sgh-i727
android version 4.0.3
baseband version 1727ucld2
kernal version 3.0.8
bild iml74k.ucld2
If there is a way to deactivate this without rooting that is preferable but I have been unable to find any answers to that.
Where do I start and what do I need if so? Thank you.

If, in fact you are on a leaked version of the firmware, you need to go into your apps drawer and see if the Kies app is installed. If it is, you can try to use it to update to the official release of the ICS firmware.
But before you do the above, just for giggles, look in your apps drawer and see if Superuser and Rom Manager are installed. If they are there then chances are the device is already rooted. If it is, let me know and we will work forward from there. If it is rooted you can install a kernel that does not have volume rocker wake feature to solve your problem.

OK, here are a couple of links. One is to a tutorial here on XDA that will walk you through using Odin to flash stock ICS firmware from AT&T.
But first, here is the link to download the firmware (ROM) that you will need -> http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162779401/27c699c/I727UCLF6_I727ATTLF6_ATT.zip.html. Just choose "Regular Download" from the page that shows up. I know this is a very large download and will take quite some time to download from Hotfile servers.
And here is the link to download Odin, the program that you will use to flash the stock firmware to the phone. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=925569&d=1330549534
Download both of these packages to your computer, not your phone. And be sure you have an archive extracting program such as 7zip installed on your computer. It is free software and you can download the 32bit or 64bit version, whichever you need, from the following link. -> http://www.7-zip.org/.
Next, here is the link to the tutorial for flashing this firmware with Odin -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
Scroll down until you find section #1 that is titled "1. HOW TO RESTORE STOCK FIRMWARES".
Follow the instructions to the letter, other than the file downloads, as those I have previously provided above in this post. I am assuming that you have already downloaded these prior to implementing the following tutorial. Once you have gone through this procedure and you have a fully functional Skyrocket, please hit the thanks button for Vincom as he is the one that took the time to work up this tutorial for anyone that may need it.
Happy flashing ..... HTR
The following is only copy/pasted from the tutorial link above. Please use the instructions from that thread only. I only posted an example below so you would know where to start in that thread.
DO NOT! CHECK "REPARTITION" IN ODIN! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
1. Download Odin 1.85
2. Download the stock TAR for your device - see section below.
3. Extract(with 7-ZIP) the contents of odin-185.zip to a folder.
4. Extract(with 7-ZIP) the contents of the stock firmware file to a folder, do not change the name of the extracted MD5 file.
5. Run Odin 1.85.exe from the folder you extracted it to.
6. Prepare Odin: Check "auto-reboot" and UNCHECK ALL OTHER OPTIONS.
7. Only Click "PDA" and select the firmware file you extracted, it will have a md5 extension.
8. How To Put your device into Download Mode: (download mode is NOT the same as recovery mode)
a. Connect the USB cable to your PC, but NOT your device.
b. Remove the battery.
c. Reinsert the battery.
d. Press and keep down both Volume Up and Volume Down keys then insert the USB cable into your device. (On Rogers phones It's just Vol Down.) DO NOT RELEASE THE VOLUME BUTTONS UNTIL INSTRUCTED
e. When You see the screen warning you about installing a rom w/a yellow triangle RELEASE the volume key(s)
f. Now press and release the volume "up" key, you should now be at the Download Mode screen w/odin recognising your phone. -See Pics Below-.
9. Click Start in Odin, it will flash the firmware, give it approx. 10mins. When its done flashing it will autoreboot the phone. Thats it, you're done.
THank you. I will try this tonight when I get home and let you know how it goes.....
Well finally got around to trying this.....phone is recognized by computer but Odin does not see it? Now what?
Leave odin for now, it seems you have at&t phone, so you should try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749021
should be easier.

Updating via odin won't void your warranty
Or, you still have your warranty,so why don't you ask in service center to upgrade your firmware.
Ok, thanks a lot.
One last thing though: Can something bad/harmful for my phone happen if upgrade with Odin? Can you indicate me best thread that teaches correctly how to update via Odin?
Thanks in advance

On the web site are official ROMs.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
In Search type s5670 and you'll get Firmware for install. Install Firmware for your region. After install it via ODIN,
connect your phone with PC, open KIES and you'll get notification about Firmware that you have installed.

You're very late. Look around. You install it as you would any KDZ. Supported languages are English, Spanish, and French.

KDZ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196494
Bin Files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198069
You can use whichever method you're accustomed to. I usually do KDZ.

I also had this problem but after about 2 hours i managed to update my phone: here how i did the update:
Just connect to internet then immediately disconnect from internet within 1 or 1.5 seconds the program just needs to confirm that there is an established connection, i used this (my own) trick and I successfully updated my LO3D froyo to GB using kdz
Keep in mind that you need to connect to internet only for 1 second then DISCONNECT internet
Good luck

Power off the phone and press Power + VOL Down + 3D as you usually would to get into recovery. From there you follow the steps to factory reset your device.

I was running GB rooted. No custom ROM just rooted.
I saw the update, so I wanted to start fresh. I reset the phone, installed the update (lost root, as expected), went to apply root with Megatron Root Exploit, and it would not allow me to obtain root. Kept getting an error about directory not found. Don't recall the exact error.
I am currently running the ICS update with no issues, but would like to be rooted as I am missing a few apps that require root.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am still a bit of a noob. I have only rooted once.
It appears form the link you posted that this is installing a custom rom. That is not what I am looking to do. Previously I was running GB, stock, just rooted to be able to freeze some apps and use a few apps that required root. That is all that I am looking to do at this point too.
ICS is loaded and running fine. Is there a way to get root back with out flashing and installing custom roms? or is this something that the hasn't been figured out yet?
Thanks again for your time and patience with me

so what rom you are on? ICS or GB?
if you are on ICS
than only follow the Root steps there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191698&highlight=baseband
How to root:
1. Download Su_Bbox_1.20.2_gazhead_signed.zip and save it somewhere in your SD card
2. Use OS_Hacking's tool to install Wkpark's v1.25a bootloader (read his instructions and install OMAP driver first). After this step, your boot-up LG logo will be silver!
3. With the same tool install a GB recovery. (ICS recoveries are only for xbsall's ported SU760 ROM, they can't read your internal SD)
4. Boot into recovery
5. Flash the zip from step (1) and reboot
Root?

This looks like I have to bootload a custom rom and go back to gingerbread? Excuse my noobness you can see I just registered to ask this question. Also load a different baseband from the V30 I am on now?
I finally got ICS and dont want a custom ROM like tmoca asked.
