This is the weirdest thing. HDMI works perfectly with my Razr HD, when I use the stock, rooted Moto ROM from VZW. Phone is unlocked and rooted, but otherwise stock and it will work just fine, as does my GF's totally stock Razr HD.
So I know that from a hardware perspective, the TV, cable, and both phones work as they should.
The issue is that as soon as I install a ROM, HDMI stops working on my phone. Even with ROMs where other people with the same ROM say that it works fine for them.
CM10.1 (Dhacker or Skrilax)
SlimBean
LiquidSmooth
PacMan
All of those report that HDMI is now working, but I cannot get ANY of them to work. As soon as I Nandroid back to the stock Moto ROM, it works.
I am running TWRP 2.5.0 and I do multiple full factory wipes, dalvic, cache before installing the new ROM. I fix permissions, the whole nine yards. Everything else installs and works fine(other than the noted bugs), but HDMI simply will not work on this phone unless I am on the stock ROM. I ask people in the LiquidSmooth thread to test and verify that it is actually working for them, and it is.
So what could be going on here? How can the phone work with stock but not with the latest versions of these other ROMs? And with my GF's stock phone as a control factor, I know that the cable and TV are fine.
Any ideas?
Nothin? I am the only one with HDMI that doesn't work under any ROM but stock? hehe
Me too

I will try to compile a ROM with working HDMI.
What ROM are you looking for .. For this to work?

I was running both Liquidsmooth for Android 4.2.2 and currently Eclipse for Android 4.2.2, and I am able to get HDMI working on both ROMs, on a XT926 Maxx HD.
Would you like a cm 10.1 ROM with HDMI?

Hi,
I have a Triumph and I'm considering rooting it, but I was wondering if doing so would disable any of the stock functions like the camera or the HDMI output.
I'm also wondering what the best firmware is for it. I know most are partial to Cyanogen Mod. Are there others that are better?
Thanks,
Lanie

Well there's Rooting and Flashing
If you root it then everything will still work fine
If you flash a Custom Rom then it's unlocked or Pre-Rooted, but there are things about each
1. Froyo Roms: Custom Froyo Roms should have all things working as stock but they'll probly function better, there are some froyo Ported roms however that have things not working so read the first posts carefully
2. Gingerbread Rom or CyanogeMod 7 or CM7: CM7 Roms have everything working just like stock except the mini hdmi, mini hdmi wont work at all anymore, but there an upgraded android os gingerbread, adds many things like tethering, overclocking and many custom settings
3. Ice Cream Sandwich or CyanogenMod 9 or CM9: CM9 has no camera and no mini hdmi but its two android os's above froyo, also adds tethering overclocking and custom settings
4. Jelly Bean or CyanogenMod 10 or CM10: Still Highly Alpha or Still Highly in Test Phase, No Camera, No Mini Hdmi, Many other things dont work but if you were feeling sporty you could atleast see Jelly Bean on your Triumph lol
No it won't disable any stock functions but it would open your phone up to more options and possibilities then before. I would root the phone and flash 2.3 (gingerbread) on it, froyo is pretty out dated but 2.3 is a really good ROM, a lot of development went into it, especially cm7

Nothing wrong with the stock rom either, once you root and clean house.

Hi,
What is the latest most updated ROM versions there is for TF101?
Did 4.2.2 JB came out already? Or is it still 4.1.2?
I'm still with 4.03 ICS by Revolver and there's not apparent update of this ROM brand.
I'm more interested in modified stock ROM's than CM based ROM's.
Thanks

Asus has not gone past 4.0.3 (build 9.2.1.27) and it has been over 6 months. I have heard rumors they have abandonned it.
If you want to go to JB, you will have to go with a CM, Paranoid Android, AOSP or AOKP build.
I will say this - IT IS SO WORTH IT! It is so much smoother and such.
I was running the TeamEOS 3 (4.1.X builds) and switched to the PA/CM10 hybrid last fall. Loved the PhabletUI over the tablet UI.
TeamEOS 4 came out with (4.2.X builds) and I jumped over to that. It is fully functoinal for what I use (including BT HID and GPS). No issues for me.
I had the 4.1.2 from MattmanWRX on my TF101 and showed it to a Stock Infinity user and he swore up and down my tablet was smoother and more fluid than his (with 2x the horsepower).
All of the 4.1.X and 4.2.X ROMs that I have run (TeamEOS, LiquidSmooth, MattmanWRX and the RaymanFX 4.2 0.8.0) had full keyboard dock support if you have that.
Keep in mind, 4.2.X is a PhabletUI, no tablet interface available. If you want the Tablet UI, stick with 4.1.X.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I had no idea they didn't go past 4.0.3.
Several of the main features that are important to me is fully functional HDMI output, Direct WiFi, Overclocking and playing HD content smoothly.
Can you tell which ROM will provide me with these function bug-free?
Thanks a bunch!

EOS4 will be a beast once its finished, for now if your just coming from stock id recommend EOS3 (with kat kernel #70), hd playback/ heavy 3d games are improved greatly on these roms only issue you may find is input lag on hdmi, this was my experience when trying hdmi yet havnt seen it reported in the threads by anyone else yet.

I cannot comment on WiFi Direct or HDMI, but OC to 1.4 is very good. Some tablets get RR and SoD with 1.5 and higher.
No issues with video playback.
My suggestion - backup using titanium backup, install TWRP from GooManager. Backup your current ROM, then install TeamEOS 4. Be sure to wipe cache, Davlik, format system and factory reset from TWRP.
Restore apps with TB and see if it works.
If not, wipe and restore your Revolver.

TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) is a different style of recovery. It is touch based, has a file manager and a terminal emulator in it. I like it because it can reliably access both internal and microSD storage (no SD or USB).
Also, nandroid backups grab the kernel (CWM on the TF101 do not backup the kernel).
TWRP 2.3.2.3 is required for Android 4.2 ROMs because of the new file structure for multiple users. It will flash fine the first time with other (and older TWRP) but when you update, your data starts getting in nested folders in the /sdcard/.
Another thing, when you go to wipe, ALL of the wipes are in one are instead of spread around like in CWM.
You can also set it up to flash up to 10 files at a time.
I will say that TWRP does not seem to like ARHD, but it has worked fine with Revolver, and all the other 4.1 and 4.2 ROMs I have tried.

I use HDMI (without audio so I can't confirm it works), it's overclocked to 1.5GHz and I'm playing 720p mkv scene releases in MX Player without issues. Can't say about Direct Wifi, I don't use that. All on Team EOS's latest 4.2.1 (haven't made the jump to 4.2.2 yet).
Guys, thank you so much for helping out. I will start to check these things out!
Cheers

Thats exactly what im looking for. I have had little success playing 720p mkv on my device with no lag. I upgraded my TF101 last night to cyanogenmod 10 v6 and it worked great for a little while, even playing videos well with little to no lag. I played with it last night for a couple of hours and installed many apps and settings. I powered it down before i went to bed and now it will not get passed the unlock screen. Its completely unresponsive at the lock screen. Any Ideas? Do i need to flash it to another ROM?

Why would you install something as old as RaymanFX's CM10 v0.6?
Running that, I would recommend upgrading to something newer anyway. There has been updates to that CM10-ROM if you prefer something similar (see the nightly builds), and there has been CM10.1 builds which are equally stable and functional.
My CM10.1 is pretty good and does 720p just fine at 1.4GHz

After browsing the web last night for a while, as i am unfamiliar with android customization, i found a few instruction outlines that pointed me to repositories with builds. That was the newest build i could find on those repositories. I realize now that it is old and have learned a lot about the mods.
I will download the one you are suggesting and seeing how that goes. I appreciate your response!
Glad to hear that, that is the one thing that has not pleased me so far with my transformer. I really want to play 720p rips of movies/shows.
Hello everybody,
Recently I bought an HDMI cable to connect my TF101 to my TV, but the image is blurred, blinks several times and get a horrible sound quality. Is there any solution?
And what is the best ROM to use the HDMI output?
Thanks, I am waiting for the answers.
Sorry for my bad English.

I havnt used hdmi very much but i found the jellybean roms has a few issues(relating to lag) id stick with a stock based ics rom like revolver, yet your issue sounds more like port/ cable damage than software issues
I'm using 4.2.2 (see my sig) and HDMI works fine on a monitor. I haven't tried a TV nor audio, but it works fine for video as second screen.

Haven't tried with 4.2.2, but HDMI works perfectly with EOS3 #81 and KATKernel #69
Sound like a stuck record constantly mentioning this ROM but its the one I have 0 problems with
Plus you should try a different HDMI cable
I have not had any issues with the stock ROM using HDMI. It should just work plain & simple unless your TV is not compatible. Not all TV's will work.
A few days ago I got my new Galaxy Note 10.1 wifi edition (the n8013 I believe). I rooted it then flash the latest CM 10.1 nightly only to find wifi does not work... I subsequently tried a few other custom roms (I think they were all based on cm10.1 which may be the problem). Wifi will turn on and recognize my network but when I try to connect it simply says "connecting" and then a few second later goes back to "saved, secured with WPA2". I'm relatively sure it is not my router since my laptop and phone are constantly connected and my tablet could connect on TouchWiz.
I've looked all around XDA and other forums to see if anyone has this issue and I could only find one topic but it had no resolution. I figure this must no be too common since Wifi, at least for the n8013, is the only way of connecting to the internet.
Any one have a similar problem or know how to fix it? Should I try flashing a rom that isn't based on CM10.1? I could just go back to stock TouchWiz but I'd rather not...
There's some good roms that are based on stock. I never used cm 10.1 so I don't have an answer for that. I am on an experimental build of 10.2 and wifi works just fine.

My Ir blaster has completely stopped working since I've been on custom roms. I've tried multiple apps and still nothing. I've been on viper, acr, and now insert coin Rom. Anyone else have this problem our know how to fix it?
Have you tried a stock Rom like cleanrom? Viper and insert coin aren't exactly roms to test stable features on. Acr has a lot of stuff removed. I'd flash a stock rooted Rom. If that doesn't work and an ruu doesn't either, probably a hardware problem

Did you ever have any luck figuring this out? It's been a month or two since I rooted my HTC One M8 and I've been lazy about looking for help on this. My IR stopped working right after I rooted the phone, was working fine before. I just haven't really needed to use it to worry about looking for a solution until recently.
EDIT: oh, should've mentioned I am on the stock rooted rom. Haven't messed around with any custom roms, just did the permanent root after it became available and then the wifi hotspot update to be able to use it.
