Is this the same thing that APKTool uses to take apart APKs so they can be modded and repackaged?

So why isn't anyone producing nexus themes?
There's some great devs out there but no themes?

Look through the sub-fourm that you just posted this thread in.
1. It is time consuming.
2. Most images need to be recreated.
3. People are still too busy playing with the phone/waiting for stable ROMs.

I perfectly understand it's a lot of work. I just was surprised that there weren't more of them. I definitely didn't mean it in a derogative way. I truly give the devs a standing ovation for their hard work and efforts. I guess it's me being impatient as always! Am used to the g1 forums being crammed with new stuff. My apologies if I offended anyone.

Also, I think most of the main themers with the G1 don't have a nexus yet lol. I know one of them just got a nexus, so I need to harass him some more so he starts working on his theme.
I just purchase Nexus One just before few days.Well my experience is positive.Recently I am using some themes which I have downloaded from few sites of themes, but I am not much satisfied from that so I am surely trying to make some new themes in a short period of time.As I complete that I will surely share that here.Till then please keep in touch...

why not make one yourself? Theming in the case of resigning and rezipping is easy. Editing the pngs is probably next hardest (esp. when you see what guys like Sir_Mez and Manup456 are able to do- now that is skill) and then you just learn how to fix 9patch drawables- easily done if you spend a bit of time reading. All the information is in the android theming section.
At the moment there is no theme template for cyanogen which is one reaosn why no themes- personally i just have a themed framework-res.apk, services.jar, Launcher2.apk, Browser.apk and vending.apk and each new rom i just still the themed images in to the apk files and push them across via adb- not for general consumption. And unless you barrack for Geelong Football club my theme is no good for you
There are plenty of themes for the Nexus One, just many of them arent found on this site.
Here is mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625306
As already said, there are quite a few out there. Some are flashable, some are morphs.
I think that the apps and themes parts of this forum should be broken apart into two uniques so it is easier from a user standpoint

[Q] Porting ICS from the Vibrant

Hi Guys
Looks like there's a pretty good ICS port for the Vibrant.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362961
Has anyone attempted to port this thing to the SGS4G? I read the guide on how to do it and it doesn't sound like there's a ton of work, since you only have to compile one file.

I just realized that was my 1000th post. Good thing it was a joke.
I read a lot, and talk a little, so my perspectives are often skewed.
That being said, it AMAZES me how often think "just compiling one file" is so simple. Really? Just sending one monkey to mars should be easy too...start flapping your arms, and I'll meet you there.
The point being? The tools aren't there yet, and anyone who utilizes the amazing superpower of literacy knows that.
Guess I'll get off my soap box now.

Did you read the porting guide? Pretty sure the JDK and the other tools the author specified can do the job. Specifically decompiling, hex editing and recompiling. I used the amazing superpower of literacy to read that, btw.

Well, there is this fancy 'search' tool in the upper right coner of the web page.
This conversation has been going on for quite some time.
You sure could port the rom, but the kernel for the sgs4g will not work... yet.
The other problem is that it would be better to have the source for the rom then to just mod the vibrant rom. Reason being is that if we have the source we can use normal debugging tools to find and solve the issues, instead of trying to reverse engineer open source software... which just seem silly to me.
I just got my "bryan fun pack" from sparkfun today, which is what I've been waiting for to get moving on cm7 and u-boot for our phone. Please hold...

Customizing Features of A custom ROM

I am using a JellyMod Custom ROM for (Samsung Galaxy Pocket)SGP - i just want to know how to get nack my stock keyboard on SMS... Thanks in advance.
Hey,
How about just clearly listing the basics.
What phone you are using on what version. Maybe try and use a device or ROM specific place.
Maybe what KIND of keyboards you like.
Stuff like that.
And by stock keyboard. Do you mean stock android. Or stock overlay.

What i mean by stock is the Default Samsung Galaxy Pocket Keyboard (Gingerbread)
BTW... thanks for your response
Hey Again,
Sorry for the delay.
Its good that you actually appreciate help.
I didn't reply sooner because I was racking my mind and the internet for something like that.
No luck yet.
When I do get something I will definitely come back and reply.
Sorry about that friend.
The only way you could do this is by editing the keyboard with your ROM to look more like the one you want.
But you will need photoshop skills, extension skills and maybe some coding skills depending on the ROM engineering.

photoshop skills, extension skills and maybe some coding skills depending on the ROM engineering is not a problem with me but what i need is time haha i am busy with my outstanding projects as of the moment. Thanks again
Well that's great then.
What I would have said is start on the keyboard image files and retouch it to suit your liking.

So how is this different than any other mods that basically does the same thing? And no credits? You made them all by yourself?
I just took a look inside your init.d script, nothing special, even a noob like me understands most part. The values are mostly the same as other tweaks.

No, not all. I found some tweaks on internet, github, xda. I have to point them all?
its recomned i think, but in general you have to ask for permission before u share your tweak.read the xda rules to understand what i mean.

Alrighty then.
Yeah, you have to list out all the people or link that helped you. And maybe put them in your script too.
You might wanna add this line to your OP too. "To devs, if you wanna include this in your ROM please include proper credits." Or something like that.

I'm flashing this now, looks like what I've been looking for. And just my input...
HE ISN'T TAKING CREDIT, he took OPEN SOURCED things and compiled them. I think it's up to him whether or not he wants to share the original authors, because after all, it is open sourced. I'd much rather see constructive input rather than pointing out things as silly as "You're stealing open sourced things."

Even if its open sourced you still have to give credit you know...or at least say that you found this on github blah blah blah it isn't purely my work something like that.

its working quite good I think on my S4. I would probably like it if you add a version number to the release or upcoming releases in case you publish an update. and if there are credits to give, its probably better to do so. overall, its working as you announced it and replaced two-three other scripts here for ext4 and sd card..so, yeah. thanks a lot!!
excellent tweaks, all collected for each of the versions of Android.
Works great on Galaxy Player 4.0
Immediately visible performance boost.

I recommend backup /system before install to avoid any incompatibility issues. It's faster and more effectively than uninstall zip.

your tweaks look awesome...Ive been trying others and they dont work out too well. I noticed it wont work with any other mods/tweaks...I was told by dev he doesnt really have any tweaks included in his ROM; but can you double check to make sure it will work with your script? I am tired of crappy battery life ; I have seen what people are getting using directinject/ tk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2411161 operation killjoy battery life and want the same. I am using an HTC EVO SHIFT and am running android 2.3.4 I believe; here is the ROM I am using... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063210
... I just want a ROM that wont cause conflicts with devs scripts...whether it be jellybean or gingerbread; any ROM is good if it will work with scripts..thank you

False false false and false again times 1 trillion. Just because something is open sourced does not mean you can blindly take something that was authored by an individual and kang it then redistribute it as "Original works". All I can say is I hope he didn't take anything of mine out of killjoy cause I'm going to check when I get home. With that said if I see something in here that was authored by another individual and I know that individual I will pm them the proof to get this project eighty sixed from xda.
Word to the wise!!!
Respect other developers
Give proper credits
Don't blindly kang for profit
Follow apache 2.0 and GPU Agreement licensing requirements
At quick glance I see your using @LENAROX and @Ryuinferno work in here ALOT. Rngd binary belongs to @Ryuinferno and multiple device calculators belong to @LENAROX. I don't recognize any other works in here. but start with giving these two great developers proper credits please.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Exit_Only,
Added Ryuinferno to credits.
But all calculators and awk-using scripts are mine!
