Is multi view not part of touchwiz? Meaning you have to be using touchwiz, not apex, to use the functions of it? I think my gf had to reboot her phone after checking the setting for it to take effect or something weird like that.

You need to just use a Touchwiz based ROM. Doesn't matter if you have a different launcher on top.
And for the person who says multiwindow is gone in the MF1 update, you're gonna have to look in your display section in the settings and TURN ON multiwindow. Nothing changed with the MF1 update other than the fix for horrid signal issues that came with the MD3 update.

I've searched through the entire rom but have not found a way to set up how many home screens I want, so wondering if anyone can direct me to that.
also does anyone know how to disable my soft keys at the bottom since i have the on screen nav enabled?
To the first question are you using launcher or nova launcher?

I'm using the stock launcher I don't care for Nova much
Edit: think I might go with nova just cause I can resize Widgets lol

I'm also curious if this is possible. Ive found an app that disables the lights... until you sleep and wake your phone again. I really like the on-screen keys but there is not much point in my opinion if the soft keys are still lit/working.
Thanks
For backlights
On Nova launcher do this.
Press and hold on the desktop>shortcuts>activities>galaxys2 settings.
Press on the shortcut and set up your back lights.

swiftkey 3 notification?

I love swiftkey but i hate that when the keyboard is out it says "select input method: swiftkey 3" as an ongoing process in the pulldown tab and puts an icon in the notification bar. Can't find anything in the swiftkey settings to disable this. Is there a fix?

I think it only says that when you're actually using the keyboard. If you hit the 'back' button, the keyboard (and notification) should go away.

yeah it does only say that when you're actually using the keyboard... my question is, is there a way to get rid of it while the keyboard is in use? It's not a deal breaker but it annoys me having that keyboard icon in the notification bar. Just wondering if there's a way to go in with an editor like how you can get rid of the ongoing wifi notification.

Just wanted to be clear, this is an intended function of ICS not any one keyboard. As far as mods to remove it, I'm honestly not sure just yet.

The "IME Switcher" is what its called, and it's a feature of ICS and JB - I know that some AOKP (such as BMc08GT's) nightlies include an option to toggle it on/off.
Actually, I just came across this post on how to do it in any ROM if you're willing to get your hands dirty editing your framework.jar file.

I was having the same problem. You have to delete the old clock app and reboot. Then it should work fine or at least that's what I did to get it working. Might be a good idea to back up the old clock app before you delete it just in case. Good luck

its funny because i was getting force closes and i was trying to delete the 4.2 app and accidently deleted the old 4.1 clock and it fixed the problem .
i love the look of the new 4.2 clock . also the night mode is easier on the eyes .
What happened to the installable version? The one you can do without root?

After flashing the 4.2 clock, removing the 4.1 clock and rebooting, I get stuck on the "activating..." screen. Is this happening to anyone else?
The clock works perfectly, and I can just hit the home button and it goes away, but now it happens on every reboot and I wouldn't want that process to run in the background...
Any info would be much appreciated!

[Q] Does anyone's S3 stutter (like it's laggy) during multitasking?

I have a Verizon S3 and it has choppy animations when switching between apps using the recent apps menu. I've tried turning both animation and transition options to off in the dev menu and it will still sometimes flicker when swapping apps.
Also, the multitasking recent apps menu itself has always been choppy, which is really frustrating. I know touchwiz isn't the best, but I never thought the phone would be this choppy. The phone itself isn't really slow, it's just the fade in / fade out animation / draw time of the recent apps menu is TERRIBLE.
Things I've done to test:
Power saving is always off. I tried turning it on and unchecking the cpu throttling, but no dice.
Tested with brightness set to auto and not auto, but no dice.
Quadrant score was in the low 5000s, which I believe is good.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal, or a sign of a defective phone? Thanks!
For the app switcher, mine hasn't been slow very often unless I'm dealing with Chrome. I have my "Window Animations Scale" set to: .5x so maybe that helps for the app switcher. I have all my transitions set to .5x actually.
I why I personally haven't noticed is cuz I dislike the implementation of the app switcher. I don't use it often unless switching from texting to Web browsing. I've used my mom's Nexus a few times and it's a smarter UI decision there. Holding the home button to activate the app switcher just feels like a step down to GB.

Thanks for the info. I seem to use my mine pretty often. I'm mainly trying to figure out if this is a known bug with touchwhiz (or if this is just how touchwhiz is), or if it's something wrong with the hardware and I need to return it for another phone.
I've also had some odd lag with the notification menu opening and closing, which only began happening in the past week or so.
What do you guys think?
Do you have the "force gpu rendering" box checked? If so uncheck it. I always get choppy when I have that checked.

Nope, I have the power saving options turned off.
I wonder if the slowness with the app changing is just normal...but it always seems faster on videos reviewing the phone online.

Currently four, sometimes up to 10. My old Droid X handled that many without an issue...I figured the S3 would be able to with ease.

Are you on any ROM or you running stock? Clearing out your cache could also help with any lag issues

I never noticed any lag or shutter when switching apps. Maybe try something like v6 supercharger and see if that fixes it.

Well I would suggest backup all your apps and Data with Google since you can't do TiBU because you're not rooted right? Then give it a reset and see how that fares for you. worth a shot

While I've tried a factory reset in the past, I didn't know about the recovery menu for non root before. I backed everything up, booted into that, cleared the system cache and then rebooted (triggering the factory reset). I skipped everything during setup and then restored only my Google account, and now everything is silky smooth. The recent apps menu is consistently smooth as well.
Thanks everyone! Hopefully it stays this way.

After playing with it for few days, it's still very smooth when you bring up the recent apps menu and click through to an open app. It's kind of sluggish when opening the menu when you're already in an app. Anyone else seeing that?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
It was like that when I was on TW. It runs at like 6 fps and it's extremely disappointing that a badass phone like this would lag there. I read that the recents menu isn't HW accelerated on TW ICS? It's completely smooth on cm10.

Actually you shouldn't disable it, I had the stock messaging app disabled and after the last couple of updates from Handcent I had the issues that many had of no notifications and no sound. Enabled the stock messaging app and everything is back to normal. I do however set Handcent to my default messaging app.
