how to disable screen wake up when getting a text? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

does anyone know how to disable the wake up screen, meaning when you get a text the screen turns on, its really annoying , the aokp roms have it the cm10 roms have it, but none of the other roms do, wtf is going on?

Is it possible to turn off on the stock rom?

Yes. I'm working on a writeup. Not sure where on the forum to put it with all the people being " this is the wrong section" Nazis. LOL.

I use handcent and it has an option to disable the screen on when receiving a text. If you install and use it don't forget to disable the stock messaging app.

Actually you shouldn't disable it, I had the stock messaging app disabled and after the last couple of updates from Handcent I had the issues that many had of no notifications and no sound. Enabled the stock messaging app and everything is back to normal. I do however set Handcent to my default messaging app.

It's the default messaging app. Go into the settings in the default app and disable notifications if you're going to use the Handcent ones.
The default is already disabled. The other comment is right, i installed beautiful widgets but I don't see where to disable notifications.

How is the other comment right? The only two notifications you show in the screenshots are default messaging and handcent.

It must be a glitch because default was disabled and it was still showing up. Once I deleted beautiful widgets and add on it went away. I think this was the same issue the other poster had.

swiftkey 3 notification?

I love swiftkey but i hate that when the keyboard is out it says "select input method: swiftkey 3" as an ongoing process in the pulldown tab and puts an icon in the notification bar. Can't find anything in the swiftkey settings to disable this. Is there a fix?

I've been using swiftkey for a long time (swiftkey, swiftkey x, swiftkey 3) and have never seen that. Are you sure you have completed the setup?

I think it only says that when you're actually using the keyboard. If you hit the 'back' button, the keyboard (and notification) should go away.

yeah it does only say that when you're actually using the keyboard... my question is, is there a way to get rid of it while the keyboard is in use? It's not a deal breaker but it annoys me having that keyboard icon in the notification bar. Just wondering if there's a way to go in with an editor like how you can get rid of the ongoing wifi notification.

Just wanted to be clear, this is an intended function of ICS not any one keyboard. As far as mods to remove it, I'm honestly not sure just yet.

The "IME Switcher" is what its called, and it's a feature of ICS and JB - I know that some AOKP (such as BMc08GT's) nightlies include an option to toggle it on/off.
Actually, I just came across this post on how to do it in any ROM if you're willing to get your hands dirty editing your framework.jar file.

This is true, and it is useful if one ever wants to switch between say a Bluetooth Controller for a game and the keyboard on the fly.

[Q] For English, press 1.......

I have a rooted Verizon SGS3 with CWR installed. When I call my own voicemail or encounter any keypad driven menu, my keypress' aren't recognized. It makes a tone but not one that's recognized, does anybody know a fix for this?
Thanks
Is it just stock rooted or did you glass a rom? If so what one?

If you're on a stock rom, go into Phone/Menu/Call Settings/Other Call Settings, then change your "DTMF" tones from Normal to Long. That should help although mine works perfectly on Normal.

Is multi view not part of touchwiz? Meaning you have to be using touchwiz, not apex, to use the functions of it? I think my gf had to reboot her phone after checking the setting for it to take effect or something weird like that.

You need to just use a Touchwiz based ROM. Doesn't matter if you have a different launcher on top.
And for the person who says multiwindow is gone in the MF1 update, you're gonna have to look in your display section in the settings and TURN ON multiwindow. Nothing changed with the MF1 update other than the fix for horrid signal issues that came with the MD3 update.

Shouldn't it say "Root access granted"?
Dont suppose you use and updated gravity box without a reboot lately have you? I know that can change certain messages to be other text if a reboot hasn't occurred.

No I don't use gravity box. This isn't specific to faux clock. I just took a screenshot when it popped up. It pops up often no matter what app I'm using.

its a setting in an app that you have to disable. its your job to find which app is causing it, since you know what apps that you have installed.
Disabling notifications for FauxClock fixed this in my case
Tapatalked via Nexus 5
Pretty sure it was faux clock causing the popup. Maybe a bug in his new beta or the intelli ksm feature.

Interesting. I've been directed here as I have the same issue. Started yesterday. I am going to disable Fauxclock notifications and will report back.
Ah finally, I am getting this as well thanks for the heads up.
It's a beta feature Now FauxClock is out of beta, you should update to production version
