Also unattractive cousin you want to throw in the basement. I mean what.
Although Android is on the climb, I agree that bragging now is a little premature. Anyone who is anyone knows the iPhone 5 is coming out most likely later this month. Very few people are buying the 4S knowing that. Bragging about a device that's only a few months old vs a phone most people know is done as the flagship for Apple this month is a little out there.

YEAHHHH!! Apple can kiss it!! Android and Samsung all the way baby!! Now to go and gloat about this to all these Apple suck ups.
Ive had 2 iPhones. But I will never ever support crapple in any way whatsoever. Unless the 5 gives daily bj's that is. Their BS lawsuits and cry baby tactics have lost me as a customer for life, no matter what they come our with
From the I-killer
I dislike apple like the rest of you but I don't see how this is possible. You want me to belive that the S3 has sold more devices than the 4S when the IP4S has been on the market 8 months longer?
Is the article misleading. Did Samsung sell more S3's from Launch till now than apple did during the same 2 months?
It doesn't add up. Just saying!

Easy tiger... this is what happens the month before a launch. People always hold off and other companies try to push their stuff out in the summer to lock in customers. I'm a big fan of the S3. Unfortunately most people are sheep when it comes to Apple.
I dont wanna be that guy that craps on everyones happy (because trust me I love this news) but is one possibility for this turn out because people are holding out on buying the IPhone in august because they know the 5 is coming out?
You guys do realize that no normal person with any common sense at all would buy an iPhone 4S right now with the new 5 coming out, right?
I hate to rain on your parade, but this is nothing to celebrate about.
We know this but no other phone has done this to crapple.so if this is short lived so what...we all know even with the iPhone 5 the S3 is still better.

The iphone 5 will not compare to the s3...crApple has fallen behind. Its now desperate measures for them, hince all the petty lawsuits.
Not really surprising

the Iphone 5 will be competing with the Galaxy note2 5.5" screen! We shall see....
Great news, and I agree... crapple has it's work cut out...
Samsung takes number one spot!
YEAHHHH! !Good news in August, the highest sales of Samsung
meh. Apple fans will tout the 5 as the best phone ever. It'll have a retina display, and just saying retina display is cool. I'm sure it'll be a great product with a bunch of cool features that are perfectly fine for the average user and it will win the ease of use battle. We'll see what the hardware is, but I'm guessing it'll be inferior to the S3 but good enough.
If for nothing else I hate Iphones for the control they have over what you do with YOUR phone. want to add software that's not approved by Apple? Sorry. Want to add a song that was emailed to you? Sorry. That list goes on & on. On the other hand I'll admit that they make a great product that is very user friendly. The IP5 will outsell the GS3 in the last quarter of this year, probably by a lot.
Hello
I am seriously considering getting the S4 for delivery on launch.
When i got my HTC One X, it was about a week after launch. The phone had 2 screen bugs (yellow spots and flickering). Even my replacement phone had this problem. Are Samsung known for early batches of new handsets to have these errors?
This is the only thing stopping me from early terminating my contract and going to Three (UK)

I got my SII on the day it was released nearly 2 yrs ago and it worked fine then and it still does to this day. However every phone released uses different hardware so past releases aren't good to go on.
I would get one and if it is genuinely faulty you can get it replaced. If you are worried then hold off and see if any concerns come up on the forums before buying. Also when getting a replacement phone, many people take it back to the same place they bought it and probably get given another phone from the same batch. If possible try a different store, you never know it might be a different batch.

Thanks for your reply, i am unsure as to whether it was just HTC being rubbish, their support team were very secretive about the problem. As it was only a small amount of handsets they didnt seem bothered about fixing it.
HTC being rubbish is definitely a factor . I've bought three Samsung's at release and never had a single issue with handset .

I'd wait a few months and see how many issues people are having.
Maybe wait until it drops down $50 since thats the point where a good number of units have already been in peoples hands.
I never liked being the first person to have something from a cost and reliability perspective.
Some of the higher end car audio gear is known for having issues in the first few production runs and i've learned from that it's wise to be cautious with brand new electronics.
Well its all about luck, there isnt any much difference between ist and 2nd batch. When s3 came, some said the blue one has back cover problem but it wasnt like this.

I got the s3 on launch and it was perfect. I maaaay or may not have bricked it/it died on me but they straight replaced it on warranty no questions asked even with cm10 installed.

Bought two S3s the week they were released and both have been perfect ever since.
But past events don't mean for sure the GS4 will be without problems. Also, comparing any launch with the HTC One X...that was probably the worst phone launch in terms of hardware problems that I've ever seen, so ANYTHING is going to be better than that

Mostly everyone has a credit card now a days. just make sure you use a premium credit card that will double your manufacturer's warranty. As simple as that.
But if you don't have a premium credit card (not hard to get) then you're out of luck I guess.
Given the issues HTC is having with the One, its no surprise their QC is not holding up. Apple has issues with initial launches and their phones. So far I have not had any issues with the Samsung first batches of phones, they are building 10 million a month of these puppies for global launch unlike Apple who delays launches into different markets.

I bought my SGS2 a month after release and it never had any issues. But my SGS3 bought 1 month after release also had a faulty display (black spots), SDS and some small errors in the hyperglaze on the backcover. Many SGS3 early buyers also had problem with the cracking "metal" bezel.
I think Samsungs QA is taking a hit because of the popularity of the Galaxy phones. I normally never had any issues with their phones unlike HTC which I always had issues with.

Because my visa cash rewards bank of america card doubles the warranty on anything I by? Look into it next time. Don't just blindly respond to something you don't know. A lot of credit cards come with perks and benefits. Roadside assistance, buyers protection, double a warranty to up to a year, etc.
Samsung's phones may generationally look the same which doesn't make everyone happy but there's an advantage. Building the SGS4 isn't much different than building the SGS3 and the N2 that preceded it. There was the occasional bezel not aligned or the home buttons being different heights on those phones but nothing really major. Variances in color temperature of the display is an "AMOLED thing" so I'd expect that to continue to some degree. But when you consider how many devices Samsung sells versus the number of QC complaints it’s pretty amazing they come out of the shoot as well built as they do.
Here's how Samsung started down the QC road and their general outlook...
In 1995, Chairman Lee was dismayed to learn that cell phones he gave as New Year’s gifts were found to be inoperable. He directed underlings to assemble a pile of 150,000 devices in a field outside the Gumi factory. More than 2,000 staff members gathered around the pile. Then it was set on fire. When the flames died down, bulldozers razed whatever was remaining. “If you continue to make poor-quality products like these,” Lee Keon Hyok recalls the chairman saying, “I’ll come back and do the same thing.”
The lesson stuck. In May 2012, three weeks before the new Galaxy S III was to be shipped, a Samsung customer told the company that the back covers for the smartphone looked cheaper than the demo models shown to clients earlier. “He was right,” says DJ Lee, the marketing chief of Samsung Mobile. “The grain wasn’t as fine on the later models.” There were 100,000 covers in the warehouse with the inferior design, as well as shipments of the assembled devices waiting at airports. This time, there would be no bonfire—all 100,000 covers, as well as those on the units at the airports, were scrapped and replaced.
Great story on the "Samsung way"...

It's nice but the price is a nightmare.
Paying Samsung 650 to unlock and run AOSP on S4.. That's how I see it.
The Google edition samsung galaxy s4 seems a little garbage to me. Why does it have capactive buttons instead of onscreen buttons, hence ruining the "nexus" experience.
Since it has LTE I bet its the qualcomm snapdragon processor, which means aosp roms for snapdragon S4s will be quite stable but exynos one will still have problems.
Anyone wanting a "pure" stock experience better get a nexus 4 or nexus 10.
price is the only problem
I still wonder why onboard storage is so low. Yes, I understand that you can use a SD which can get pretty big, but wouldn't it be better to have more than just 16GB for developers?
Why didn't they just upgrade the damn nexus 4 with LTE. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

High compared to what? If you look at what an unsubsidised, unlocked, off-contract S4 costs in the US, it's $629. The Google version is only $20 more, and that's probably not too bad considering that you should get OS version updates around the same time as the Nexus phones, not 6-12 months later.
If you're comparing the price to what you pay on a contract, of course it's more expensive. When you buy the phone on contract, the carrier pays part of the price because they know they can suck money out of you and you're contractually obliged to keep paying them. You win, but you also lose.
to everyone complaining about a 649 price tag, the GS4 of both variants (exynos and snapdragon) here in australia are like, 699 dollars outright unlocked at the cheapest....
I really don't think the price is that terrible. The S4 is a top of the line device that was not built with keeping the price down in mind. What's going to be stopping people though from just buying a regular S4 on contract or cheaper used then just waiting for this one to come out. Samsung is more than likely going to be providing the drivers therefore that could be of help to such AOSP roms like CM.
I wonder if it would be possible to just put the stock firmware on to carrier purchased S4 and receive updates straight from google that way. I think that should be possible considering the hardware is exactly the same.
everything is ok , just about the high price
Times they are a changin' folks. The days of carrier subsidized phones could be near. Soon we'll have a better feel for what the consumer will pay for a smartphone. This will put the hurt on phone manufacturers to set realistic price and profit margins.
i suspect the S4 Google Edition's initial unlocked price has more to do with taking advantage of bleeding edge, must have, first adopters. You know who you are. Knock yourselves out.
Uhh, $650 is about the price for an unsubsidized, unlocked premium phone. You Nexus folk are a little spoiled with Google selling you phones at wholesale price. GSM carriers would flip if Google sold the S4, wholesale.
It came as a big surprise when Google announced this, but it's an interesting move. I kinda wish they just upgraded the Nexus 4 though... LTE and more storage (or SD slot) and it would be the perfect phone.

native AOSP without voiding any warranties, with over the air updates that come earlier than any other S4 updates and no chance for bricking and probably a further 6 months or so of native (i.e. none/very few of the bugs) updates after samsung gives up on the S4
I have sold my s3 and got a note 2 since december from last year.
The reason i bought such a huge phone was for the s pen. It helped me in college for taking notes, but then ive bought an ipad which can work for the same purpose, except without the s pen.
Nowadays im just not finding the note 2 practical for everyday usage. Its just too big.
So now im Thinking of selling it and either buying either an s4, htc one or xperia z.
Can someone give me feedback on those phones?

I wouldn't really recommend any of the devices (I've got my hands on S4, Z and One, FYI) over the Note II. But if the size is bothering you that much, go for S4. It's got almost no bezel, and is nearly the same size as S3. Z is probably my least favorite device of all 3, and it's really a tie between One and S4.
But other than that, many users here have switched back to N2, for the record. From both One and S4.

Personally I would go for the HTC One
It is a stunning looking phone and I personally prefer HTC Sense to TouchWiz. All IMO of course, but if I could turn back time I would have got the One instead of the N7105.
32GB Storage is enough for most people, and the only negative is the non-replaceable super sealed in battery where there's no getting at it without wrecking the rest of the phone. From my experience though, this won't be an issue for the lifespan that you'll have the phone.

why is supporting a sports team considered normal and support a electronics company isn't? In what ways does a sport team have in connection with it's fans? Nothing. People support a sport team so that they have a sense of belonging, thus filling the mid level needs in Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Different people have difference ways of completing that need. Some "grown" men support their country and hence nationalism, some men support their sport team and hence the sporting industry.
In fact, a normal person can have more sense of belonging to a electronic company because they can buy shares of that company and become part owner.
If you want to change to a similar size just wait for the HTC One Max or the Note 3. They'll be here shortly. Even the Xperia Ultra Z looks nice.
However If you feel that Note 2 is big for you, definitely try the HTC one. Its an awesome phone. I bet you wont give up that one easily.
HTC One would be the way to go, or a Nexus 4.
However, out of experience I can tell: you can get used to a phone with big screen such as the Note 2, but the other way around.. Not really. When I take my Nexus in my hands now, it feels like a freaking toy. The Note is just boss. Also Note 2 community is very alive (on XDA and beyond too) and there are many good TW and AOSP roms and kernels out there..
Off the record: I even dare to say I have a better AOSP experience than on my Nexus, why ? 'Cause of the 5,5" display..
I sold my htc one and bought the note 2. I can tell you what i think (pros ans cons)
1 htc one is much faster than note 2 and s4
2 the big screen in the note2 is a pro and con at the same time. "Pro" because ots really great to play games and read and "con" because its hard to handle it with one hand. Also the htc one sreen is much greater than the note 2, looks a lot sharper and better colors
3 the battery of the note2 is really amazing, i have gotten 8hrs screen time while in the htc one i have gotten 6+ hrs screen time but sometimes just 5hrs screen time
4 the camera on both are great, i like the htc camera more because of the functions and the quality is really great
5 the sound of the htc one is simply the best, even better than some laptops trust me!!
6 you can install a sd card in the note2
7 you have spen in the note2 (i dont use it that much so to me its not a big deal)
Im thinking in sale my note2 and get the htc one again but its hard to leave the great battery life i get with the note2 so its your choice mate

Because it's usually sad losers who ramble on online desperately trying to defend their precious brands and these "fanboys" have no shame.
A supporter of a sports team usually isn't the type of loser who portrays a sad and lonely one man crusade online to defend his precious brand name. Dunno what sports you like mate, but I go for a few beers with my mates and then go watch Arsenal. It is completely different to feeling the need to ramble on whenever a company like Apple is mentioned.
The fanboy "iFail, Crapple" type people are all too frequent and pathetic and they need to get a life.
As for the rest of your rant, I tend to find the online or technology "fanboys" to be more cringeworthy than the rest. Maybe they're sociallu awkward and need support the samsung or apple team (whatever that means).
The only logic fail here is you telling the op that the Note 3 is the best even though he already said the note 2 was too big for him. I would hazard a guess this is because you are one of these aforementioned fanboy characters and can't bear to see anyone suggest anything other than the Note

What made you sell the HTC One in the first place? Out of curiousity..
I've got the LTE Note 2 and I don't think I get much better life than the HTC One. I've been pondering selling up and getting the One..

seems like you generalise everything you observe.
I am planning to buy the Note 3..however the pricing is ridiculous at Rs 49990. According to the Note 3 Indian users thread price will come down by 3000-4000 in 1 week...Can that happen?
What was the price of S4 on launch and did it drop in first week? if so, to how much?
Also I have heard that street price will be 2-3k less...By street price what do you mean? those small samsung shops in lanes , samsung cafes
or big places like croma, reliance?
Anyone in bangalore who can actually tell me some shops where i can get it cheaper?
Thanks!
Buying online might b cheaper
S4 price now and before had slight decrease not much
That 1 week thing will only b True if no one buys note3

Dont go for it coz of 3GB RAM only. In India only Octa version will be released. It willn't support 4K video capturing.
BTW, you created a thread which shouldn't be here.
I believe u have to wait for about a month before prices start dropping anywhere in the world ...

but snapdragon varieties of samsung devices will never b launched in india
That price is the MRP! I've never seen a single store who sells phone at MRP. It will always be 5-10% lesser than the max retail price, so you might get it at around 45-46K. Which too is way overpriced. Definitely Samsung is high declaring a ridiculous price like that!

if you dont bother about the cost, just buy the exynos version, its always superior to sd800, 4k recording is not going to be useful anywhere unless u have some good hd TV to play it back.
Pros
* full working big little architecture
* wolfson audio
* better graphics than adreno 330
* Might have a better camera sensor similar to 9500 vs 9505
Cons
* no lte
* lack of 4k video
* might have less dev support
