Hi all. I have a question about the recording video quality on 4.2.2 a6. Now that the hwcomposer is OK the difference with GB stock ROM is always High. In gb i record video with 13 mbits/s of bit rate in mp4, in a6 3.3 mbits/s in h264. The h264 is better than mp4 but the bit rate is very low and the quality is not good. Is possibile to increment the bit rate? Thanks in advance.

mp4 in a container while h264 is a codec. Hoverwise I'm with you.

Yes, you are right. In A7 the things are better, but the bitrate is the same of A6. Another problem is the sync of Audio / Video.
For me,the video recording remains the only real problem in A7, everything else is wonderful.
Thanks master @dhiru1602

What the hell is htc thinking? the videos are recorded in 3gp!! is there a way to record the videos in mp4?
Also the audio quality of the recorded videos is awful, like the phone is under water, it has been said that htc uses the AMR codec when EVERYBODY else uses aac , is there a way to fix this? a 8 mp camera phone with 720p recording and lastg generatio audio quality, what a bummer! htc should be working on this as we speak!
Check out this video that includes talking and wind noise, the wind noise sounds like a tornado lol
no workaround for this?
I am also bothered by the video camera. It is supposedly HD but most of my videos are choppy and showing up as being in the area of 9, 12, or 14 or so frames per second. Is there any way to adjust some settings that I am missing?

ive heard the choppy framerate is because of the included sd card, and that class 4 cards dont have this problem
I'm pretty sure it can be cooked up in a rom. all that needs to be done is replacing HTC's camera with googles. Also the HTC camera does record in H264, but uses the 3gp file wrapper.
It can be found here:
/system/app/HTCCamera.apk

EDIT: Now that i think about it, it might be a little harder then just doing that due to framework errors. But hey ill take a look for you. *maybe even take the best out of both*

Ours included class 4 cards with the phone. Was this not the norm?
It's the HTC camera app. Using AOSP video recording on CM7 with a Class 2 32GB SD, it doesn't skip a beat. It's container is MP4.
Is there anything similar to this for the infuse?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051
It is a modified camera APK for the Galaxy S that increases the audio bitrate to 192kbps and also increases the video bitrate.
Is there any way this could be modified to use on the Infuse?
I'm running the "Infused 1.5" Rom with voodoo sound fix.
try lgCamera 6.25 or lgCameraPro 6.25
it's the best at all up to now
Yo try the camera section of infuse android. Development

There's a camera section?
This is one of the biggest complaints I've always had about the Infuse, is the crappy audio quality in videos.
And another issue.
Whitch kind of videos is best for the J??
Hd? Mp4 HD? Mp4 720p?
Becase the firmware video is awersome, but i cant find the same format for this quality.

well you can enhance the quality (not resolution). if you are interested see my thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121645
Just share my experience although mine is Xperia Miro.
The device is capable to hardware decode PSP MP4 video(480P), H264 Main Profile @3.0.
720P videos that required software decoding are varies from case to case, it maybe smooth or lag if the video bitrate is high.

If by firmware video you mean the 'Xperia HD Landscapes' video, it was encoded at 854x480 resolution in baseline profile with a good bitrate.
In my opinion, the best settings are the same used in the landscape video.
Main profile skips frames at a high bitrate. So don't use the main profile.
And regarding HD videos, J relies on software decoding which in truth is not enough. So even if you try HD videos, go for a low bitrate.
Previously I was using Samsung galaxy Y, where I have made changes in some scripts and increased the video recording capacity of 2MP camera from 320x240 pixels to 640x480.
Now I want to increase the video recording capacity of my tipo from 640x480 to 1280x720.
Can anybody do this for me and others also?
That would be a great thing to do.
Hope someone can do it.

Nope, its impossible, maybe its maxed on 720x480, read my thread for video quality anyway. Tipo/Miro/J doesn't even decode 720p videos so dont expect it to encode 720p videos.
BTW, what script did you edit? I'd like to do it

Yup, this is the best video player I have ever used, just install the player and the codec from GPlay (all free) and it will play everything you throw in!
P/s: you may need to find some extra codec and copy them manually to your device to play some file (in my case, it's .mkv)

mx player will run 720p videos but i dont think it can run it smoothly there will be many lags while video playback due weak gpu
Forget all that. The video will play properly with the correct resolution (mine is tipo) so 480x320 mpeg4 at least 1600kbps aac Lc 48khz 128kbps is already looks so good. Why waste your microsd size just to show your laggy 720p? Better show off high quality properly converted .mp4 file. And if you want to watch movies, obviously that 720p video size is bigger.
