Increasing video pixel resolution in Tipo. - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Previously I was using Samsung galaxy Y, where I have made changes in some scripts and increased the video recording capacity of 2MP camera from 320x240 pixels to 640x480.
Now I want to increase the video recording capacity of my tipo from 640x480 to 1280x720.
Can anybody do this for me and others also?

That would be a great thing to do.
Hope someone can do it.

Nope, its impossible, maybe its maxed on 720x480, read my thread for video quality anyway. Tipo/Miro/J doesn't even decode 720p videos so dont expect it to encode 720p videos.
BTW, what script did you edit? I'd like to do it

I know many older but fairly OK computers otherwise that don't play 720p. So, no.

i was able to run a 1080p video with it at around 0.1 fps with super sound lag
Well... mom's netbook can't play 360p videos... and it has a 1.8GHz dualcore...(but it has no video card)
Say thanks you can run HQ YouTube... you need 1GHz CPU to run 720p videos, but this is with a good GPU (not a mobile one) and also nothing in background...
Oh and dual core 1.2GHz with mobile GPU can run 720p without problems (see Gnexus)
Just wait

If i ever want to watch hd movies on my netbook, i would just down scale them to just above 1024x600 resolution, as thats all you need, and dual core netbook will easily handle it =)

Nope mom has a very good netbook, and videos play on it like they do on the phone... we have hardware accelerated videos, netbooks don't... (GPU has about 16GHz on a 256MB GPU... so lot better with HW acceleration...)

Lol just googled a bit and found out oue GPU has 133MB and 128MHz clock speed (very very slow)
The funny thing is my old ATI has 64MB and 14GHz clock speed lol
And to tell you why the PS2 is so cool: it has 128MB and 28GHz clock!!!(10 years ago!!!)

Don't think about it, even If you found a player which can run it and you overclock to 806, still you'll run it below 7-8 FPS, which means it will be too laggy and the worst thing is that you can't enjoy that video, use your computer to convert it to 480p
is there any way to change video resolution without converting it?

I don't like trolls on xda. I assumed kiranbandre was asking a legit question to what he didn't know. Again, because I assume people here don't troll those in need. So I explained that umangleekha was in fact referring to the same thing by "converting".
So I'm not sure kiranbandre was not trolling and for the record, if he wasn't, I'm sorry, but I am sure you were. I don't like trolls on xda
I apologize to the MODs if I am out of line but I don't like being made fun of.

as long as you keep the video resolution to a width of 480 you won't see any difference.

[HOWTO] Get higher quality video recording (Miro/Tipo/J)

Disappointed with your video recording quality? Or you want your videos to look smoother? Then you should try this.

First download this application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCamera
open the app then set the video recording settings by pressing the menu button.
set it like this:
Scene mode: Sports (This is needed to get constant FPS.)
Exposure compensation: anything above 0 (To brighten up the video.)
Video encoder: MPEG4
Video file format: MPEG4
Video bitrate: 100 Mbit (Only for bitrate uncapping. Still capped at 5 MB/s anyway.)
Video framerate: 30 (For Tipo / J users who encountered recording failed try using 25/20 FPS.)
Audio encoder: AAC
Audio samplerate: 44100
Audio bitrate: 96000 /128000 / 160000 (Not much differences, use 96000 if you want good quality and smaller filesize.)
Tick the auto rotate video if you need it.
Videos recorded using this method will be better on bright places. On low light conditions, there will be a LOT OF NOISE.
Don't forget to click thanks if this helps.

It is for those who want more quality and a higher FPS, espicially when you are recording on low lightning conditions, FPS are usually lower than on lighter conditions. I use it mainly because it does have a better audio quality than stock, and a higher FPS.
The only drawback is when on low lightning conditions, a LOT of noise can be seen.

lgcamera pro works very good on CM10 (SXJ).
Video recording is smooth and had even up to 25-30 FPS. Stabilization is very good and sound too.

Thread updated. I still don't understand why KMPlayer on my PC tells different FPS. MXPlayer android says 57.5 FPS, KMPlayer says 29.etc.
Stereo recording might work using a headphone with a microphone. I tried this once, but i couldn't confirm it because i was at a quite noisy environment .

Are you using CM10? If yes, then it's just plain no, because CM10 is really, really heavy even my Miro had problems even using the stock camera app. I wouldn't recommend using LGCamera on CM10, but you can still try editing the mediaprofiles iirc.

Video format

And another issue.
Whitch kind of videos is best for the J??
Hd? Mp4 HD? Mp4 720p?
Becase the firmware video is awersome, but i cant find the same format for this quality.

well you can enhance the quality (not resolution). if you are interested see my thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121645
Just share my experience although mine is Xperia Miro.
The device is capable to hardware decode PSP MP4 video(480P), H264 Main Profile @3.0.
720P videos that required software decoding are varies from case to case, it maybe smooth or lag if the video bitrate is high.

If by firmware video you mean the 'Xperia HD Landscapes' video, it was encoded at 854x480 resolution in baseline profile with a good bitrate.
In my opinion, the best settings are the same used in the landscape video.
Main profile skips frames at a high bitrate. So don't use the main profile.
And regarding HD videos, J relies on software decoding which in truth is not enough. So even if you try HD videos, go for a low bitrate.

Any tips ???

Guys any one knows how to play 720p videos on xperia j ??

Yup, this is the best video player I have ever used, just install the player and the codec from GPlay (all free) and it will play everything you throw in!
P/s: you may need to find some extra codec and copy them manually to your device to play some file (in my case, it's .mkv)

mx player will run 720p videos but i dont think it can run it smoothly there will be many lags while video playback due weak gpu
Forget all that. The video will play properly with the correct resolution (mine is tipo) so 480x320 mpeg4 at least 1600kbps aac Lc 48khz 128kbps is already looks so good. Why waste your microsd size just to show your laggy 720p? Better show off high quality properly converted .mp4 file. And if you want to watch movies, obviously that 720p video size is bigger.

i record at [email protected] and play with MX Player and work very well, the frame are 30fps but video seem different.
I tested stuff on my desktop where I usually watch the [email protected] videos made
with my DSLR. I really hope it's not a hardware limitation.
maybe we must change too:
- Video bit rate over 17mbps (default) to 20 Mbps
- Video File format Mpeg4 or amr_nb / amr_wb
- Video Codec H263 / h264 / mpeg4
what your best setting??

Yes, maxed out bitrate, mp4 format, tried both h.264 and mp4 codecs.
Maybe it's the settings but I couldn't find any docs explaining what I
should do.

HDR takes 1 dark pic and 1 bright pic and then combines the 2 pics to make 1 pic with good lighting
I understand that but can I setup application that after taking photo just leave one which is right
