Hello guys,
Yesterday I was busy with flashing software.. But I wanted CM 10.1 wich needed the new bootloader. So I installed the new bootloader via CWM together with TWRP 2.5.0.0 but with resetting it, it hung on the asus logo with the blue bar... It shutted itself down and i tried to turn it on again but as expected... no logo, no fastboot. I was on unlocked bootloader from the beginnen so I don't have any warranty and because of my business with school I never searched for NVflash. My TF201 has died on the same way but it wasn't my bad. A friend of mine broke it with some wrong adb commands. So that tablet was covered by his house insurance so I could buy a new one, The TF700. But this time it's my fault. I have requested RMA at asus website and they will collect it tomorrow. but I want to know if there are people that already did this with succes. And how much it costs. I really tried every possible solution. The battery was connected to the charger and 4% when this happened. So it ran flat this night. Tried it this morning but with no succes. Only APX mode.
I hope someone could tell me something more about the procedures of Asus.
I've tried something like this with my TF300T. As you know, you have voided the warranty, and therefore you have to pay for yourself. ASUS said the mainboard was fried in mine (flashed wrong bootloader, and then it just hung on the first ASUS logo, no reaction on Vol-down + power button).
ASUS Denmark told me it would cost 2400 danish crowns (DKK), which is about 420 US$, but I think it will be a bit cheaper in your country, because we have alot of lame taxes here in Denmark
420 bucks is a lot of money. An employee of the asus service center here in The Netherlands told me there's a standard price of 75 euro's for only looking at it and search the fault. But he told me I'm not the only one with this kinda 'damage'. He thought it wil be something around 125 euro's, aproximately 150 to 160 us dollars.
I hope it will be just 125 euros. It's still in 'repair' when I check asus Inquiry but I'm still not emailed for confirmation of repair.

Today I checked Asus RMA inquiry and the repair was completed. I didn't get any e-mails about the costs. Is this the normal procedure? Or do I have to pay afterwards? It has already left the repair center in Brno, Czech Republic if I have to believe DHL Express Tracking.
Sounds like you got lucky dude only caveat is you may not now be able to unlock.
If I can't unlock it. It's rubish to me. I need to flash CM rom...
I even asked them to keep it unlocked. I even taped a paper on it with the text "I need it to be in unlocked state". I also placed a sticker above the connector input with the text : "please keep tablet in unlocked state!!"
Why I can't unlock it again? I read somewhere that there is a possibility that you can unlock it via NV flash.

If they switched the motherboard then the serial number won't match their database. Read the other threads as someone managed to persuade them to update the database. I'm guessing they switched your motherboard but let's wait and see.
Let's hope the best. I think it will arrive tomorrow or thursday. I will post updates as soon as I know something more.
received the tablet today!! They screwed up the body with some dents at the connector bay. and there was a gap between body and screen at the front camera. But I fixed it in 5 minutes. Beside that. Tried to unlock it immediately but got the same issue as everyone. So I called the Asus Hotline 5 mins ago and they know about the issue. And he asked me to send a screenshot of the error in the unlock app and a screenshot of the mac adres, serial number etc. So I did that. Now we just have to wait! He will forward the email to other divisions of the help center and they eventually will put it through to taiwan.
Funny thing,
I asked him about NVflash but he didn't know about that. He said that he also has a Infinity pad in unlocked state so I telled him about NVflash and what it means and does. So he will be brick-proof soon . Nice that the customer service also knows things about flashing and unlocking, especially this particular guy.
I will update soon!

Hello
I had an experience with ASUS repair back in the days with Prime. I also had an unlocked device but they repaired it couple of times they do not bothered with the unlocked status. In Europe if I remember right they sent it to the Czech Republic.
It is a different story that it came back from the repair even worse condition.
I sent it back because it was freezed 4-5 times per a day. They repaired it and after it came back from the repair the Tablet not recognized the mobile dock. I sent it back for a second repair 2 days after. they "repaired" it again and this time the Touch screen was unresponsive soon after I took it right out of the box?
Finally they just offered a refund.
From the first time it was unlocked and they are repaired it every time, not declined the service because of the unlocked status!
At the end of the day I received an e-mail. I will put the original e-mail here and the translated version.
I sent this:
bekende xda-developers forum.
Zij bijlage.

After being in touch with the ASUS Hotline. (Perfect service, The people there know where they talk about).
They said I have to attach screenshots of my Wi-Fi MAC adres and a screenshot of the fault that's displayed in the unlock app.
The problem is that the unlock tool doesn't work anymore after RMA. It's a well known issue if I have to believe XDA developers.
See attachement.

Today received An email with the question to check the unlock app again. And it was working again!! I'm very happy with this kind of service. Only because of this I will stick to asus as long as the products look interesting to me.
So case closed I think.
It's unlocked right now and just installed twrp and CM 10.0

I had the little symbol that I can upgrade my firmware today so I started the process and it rebooted and then stayed on that screen for like an hour and rebooted.
now it comes up and sits at the eee pad screen with the aus logo at the bottom
if I hold power and down volume it says
android ww_epad-user bootloader < e> released by "ww-epad-8.2.3.6-20110414".
Booting recovery kernel image
and sits there nothing else..
so what should I do next?
I notice the "ww" in your bootloader; are you in the US?
I would suggest reading this post about bricked:

Our resident gurus were looking for bricks to test a potential recovery method. Let me see if I can dig up a link to the thread. Otherwise search for rayman, bumble-bee...
Edit - Dan already linked the appropriate thread. Hook up with rayman84.
damm OTA update..
I will request an RMA from newegg...
took forever to get this!
From what the other thread says, the bad update was pulled... you say you got it OTA? Which country are you in, and when was the update?

I want to keep this thread short as it is a re-post. Please post here for more help regarding this issue.
I ordered mine from newegg as well and experienced the EXACT SAME issue and ended up RMA'ing with newegg. If you can please hold off on doing that though for just a few days I can contact Hai, an Asus technician who worked with me, and inform him of your issue. He really wanted my particular device in his hands to work on but I rma'd too soon with newegg. I plan on calling Hai tomorrow evening. PM me your phone number for the time being and i can give it to Hai if you feel comfortable.
Also; it took about a week from when Newegg received my device to it being refunded back to my bank account. Hai may be able to make that turnover a bit quicker and allow you to receive a replacement thus saving you from having to wait for a new one.
P.S.S. - There is no solution other than RMA for the bricked devices.
I've bricked my asus tf300t after installing JB V10.4.2.17 from asus website.
I had my tablet unlocked but when starting to pass select Data Wipe the boot menu.
The problem I have now is I can not access the boot menu and I can only connect using apx mode.
I can not select the mode for adb to connect because I have no access to the boot menu.
I think the only solution is to access the boot menu by apx but I can not repair the boot
(I insist I have only access to apx mode and found no solution around the forum)
there is no solution.
Only NVflash. but you have to have it before brick.
I resign myself to send to the U.S. for repair, I'm sure I'll have to pay 198 USD for repair which is the value of half of the tablet
I accept suggestions, ideas, or if they know of any quick solution plz let me know

Ya i'm pretty much in the same boat. I tried contacting the guys from MobileTechVideos, who are pretty well known for their jtag unbricking services. They said that they don't currently provide service for bricked TF300T.
Where do you live and how are you sure it's gonna cost you $200? I know some guys have gotten estimates of that much but I saw this other guy claim Asus did it for free.
Right now I'm thinking of selling it via craigslist or ebay for ~200 hopefully... hopefully..

I'm with both of you too, but managed this ICS. I contacted MobileTechVideos, and after he told me the JTag configuration was unknown I did a smidgen of research into it. Although all of it's above my head, and I did learn our chipset should be the Tegra 3 T30L. Same as the nexus 7 and A210. So if anyone figures out a configuration for those we might be in luck. Also if I read correctly if we could get the SBK (secure boot key), NVFlash would be useful even without a previous backup. If that's true that would be something we should look into. I'm sure they wouldn't be keen on the idea of letting that out though.

I'm from Chile, but the only solution seems to be to send the tablet to the U.S. for repair, case law in which you were charged 200 USD approx to change the motherboard.
That was because the tablet said was unlocked and mine too.

That's a bit idiotic on Asus' part. You would assume that Asus would be able to do a simple reflash instead of replacing the entire motherboard.

Guys, why would you want to feed the hyena that bites your hand at every chance it gets? Worst comes to worst, buy a USED (emphasis) motherboard off ebay and repair it yourself. There are plenty of guides in this forum on how to do it. I've done it numerous times myself. That way, you can still get it working again, while denying Asus a flagrant rip-off. I know they can just reflash the motherboard in most situations where the bootloader has been erased accidentally. Take a wild guess as to why they're so quick to suggest that the motherboard be replaced out of "necessity." Nothing hardware-wise is broken. How did they put the firmware in those machines in the first place? How's that different from your current situations? What could they do that they cannot now?
I RMAed my first TF300T and got another refurbished one but this one doesn't seem to want to receive OTA updates (I updated manually), the bootloader will not unlock (error), and asus device tracker tells me im entering the wrong serial. I know others have had a very similar issue and I am wondering if a fix has been found or if I will have to RMA again.

Some one else had similar issue but they unlocked the device then sent it in for rma which costed them like 200 but long story short they replaced the board which caused him to lose unlocked but device still showed was unlocked in asus' system so they wouldn't help him. Maybe be similar for you because its a refurb could have been unlocked by previous owner and not fixed properly if it was by asus or something but probably still shows its unlocked in there system. I'd report to asus the experience your have and see what they say and if possible I'd probably rma again if it came that way. What the point in keeping device that came broken already especially if someone elses error. Bty no fix for that yet and probably wont be for a while. Also depending on who you have to rma with might be difficult if thats the only issue i'd start looking for other issues like random reboot, bootloop, hdmi, etc. Just something to give them for a sure replacement. All thats your choice though if it worth going through the trouble again. Took me 2 weeks went nuts without it.

Hi Folks,
since October i'm a proud owner of an infinity tab.
In November i got an issue with the touch screen which stopped responding during work and i needed to set it into standby and turn it in aga in to make it work.
So i called ASUS-Support for help. After some days of mailing them and some responses they gold me, hat i have to send it to ASUS and they will take about 10 days to repair it.
It took them 43(!!!) days. In this time i got no proactive information about the progress. So i needed to ask again.
They also gave me the option to pay me the money back, i spend in this device.
But i wanted exactly that type of device.
When i got back my device i firstly was very happy, because all errors i told them were fixed.
They replaced the mainboard.
But then i considered that the device was not hit by the OTA-update and I needed to contact ASUS again.
First they asked me about the MAC of my new Main board.
So somebody missed to change it in their database for OTA-Updates.
I gave the needed information and waited for response... Nothing.
Again in asked ASUS and they told me to manually update to the actual version and wait for the next update.
Then android 4.2 got to our devices but no OTA at mine showed up.
Very angry I mailed ASUS again, and they told me to send my device back again.
I asked them, how they think to keep me online, because I already waited 43 days for the first fix.
But they didn't even react on that. It ended in the suggestion to update my device manually if I do not want to send the device in.
I now decided to never by any ASUS device again because of the bad service I get for a device for 719 € .

You don't need "Germany" in the title. Asus support sucks period.
The usernames featured in this thread are highly amusing..
Did you contact Asus directly or go back to the shop you bought it at? Under EU law the shop is bound to give you a full 1 year warranty, you see.
Why did you refuse the money back ? With it you could have bought a completely new infinity tab with no repaired part.

Hi,
last month I sended my TF300T to Asus because I had a problem with it. The tablet wouldn't upgrade itself and the sensor for the keyboard stopped working leaving the screen on.
My tablet was unlocked. I knew that there was a risk!
But when the tablet came back fixed, with the system 4.2.1 was happy and felt very lucky.
But now, I'm not that sure.
As the warranty finished shortly after the tablet came back, I said to myself that there was no reason to not unlucked it again.
I went to Asus's web site, downloaded the apk and runned it and:
I get the answer "Unknokn connection error, please try again"
In fact it seem that Asus does not want taht I unlock the boot loader again.
Is there another way..
Thanks...

Call Asus and tell them that they need to add your serial and new mac address back to their database so you can unlock it again. Keep nagging them until they do it. This is the ONLY fix for you.

Hello,
that's what I did, and the support guy told me that its impossible to reset my serial number in the database. He told me that I'll need to send the tablet back for tech service.
For now I have a RMA for sending back my tablet.
I won't pay for shipping, as they'll pick up my tablet at my house.
I found that a little strange. But for now I'l wait to see what will happen.
Thanks for your help...

Have you paid for a repair? Has your warranty void by Asus?
Sorry to bring up an old thread...But does anyone know what a second error beyond the network one would be? It lets me verify my google account then sits for a long time. After that I can an error "Unable to unlock device at this time. Please try again later." Same serial number issue or something different?
Edit: after restarting a couple more times, I got it to work!
