Hi Folks,
since October i'm a proud owner of an infinity tab.
In November i got an issue with the touch screen which stopped responding during work and i needed to set it into standby and turn it in aga in to make it work.
So i called ASUS-Support for help. After some days of mailing them and some responses they gold me, hat i have to send it to ASUS and they will take about 10 days to repair it.
It took them 43(!!!) days. In this time i got no proactive information about the progress. So i needed to ask again.
They also gave me the option to pay me the money back, i spend in this device.
But i wanted exactly that type of device.
When i got back my device i firstly was very happy, because all errors i told them were fixed.
They replaced the mainboard.
But then i considered that the device was not hit by the OTA-update and I needed to contact ASUS again.
First they asked me about the MAC of my new Main board.
So somebody missed to change it in their database for OTA-Updates.
I gave the needed information and waited for response... Nothing.
Again in asked ASUS and they told me to manually update to the actual version and wait for the next update.
Then android 4.2 got to our devices but no OTA at mine showed up.
Very angry I mailed ASUS again, and they told me to send my device back again.
I asked them, how they think to keep me online, because I already waited 43 days for the first fix.
But they didn't even react on that. It ended in the suggestion to update my device manually if I do not want to send the device in.
I now decided to never by any ASUS device again because of the bad service I get for a device for 719 € .

You don't need "Germany" in the title. Asus support sucks period.
The usernames featured in this thread are highly amusing..
Did you contact Asus directly or go back to the shop you bought it at? Under EU law the shop is bound to give you a full 1 year warranty, you see.
Why did you refuse the money back ? With it you could have bought a completely new infinity tab with no repaired part.

I contacted ASUS directly because they said it wouldn't last longer than 10 days... The shop would last longer.

I purchased a Transformer yesterday which will be my second one. I returned the first one. Wondering why I have not received the 3.1 update on new device. The first one updated over night. Anyone have any idea what the time frame is for the 3.1 update? I have a full battery and great wifi signal. I have checked in about phone for updates many many times. I have done a search and nothing seemed to come up regarding this. Any and all help is appreciated.
I received mine today... connected to my wifi... 5min later it updated.

I must admit and also agree i cannot understand why people cant just download the update from the asus website.
I think it is an issue though maybe with the lack of a decent manual,if it was mentioned when you opened the box up that firmware can be manually updated from the site we wouldnt hae to view the same posts all day.
Also it may mean we have a lot of new users which means they are selling the transformer like hot cakes.

Because the serial number on my TF is invalid. When I checked in to register the device it kept coming back "invalid serial number" I contacted Asus and was told to take the device back for exchange or refund as they have an internal investigation as to why units were being produced but not entered into data base and they have no time frame for resolution. Seems it is spread throughout the globe, look in this forum and you will see it is an issue for numerous devices. No valid serial number means NO warranty down the line. So what good would it do to manually update when you have no warranty??? Also why should an individual settle for a $400.00 device not functioning as it should out of the box??Yes not having a valid serial number and no warranty and no update are unacceptable. Please excuse me for asking a question on this forum. I got a refund as they had no Transformers on hand for exchange. I now have decided not to purchase until they get this serial number issue sorted out,(if they ever do)or perhaps looking into the Toshiba Thrive.
You should return it if you have a invalid serial number, your going to have warrenty issues if you ever need to send it back for repair

Yes Exactly what I did. I checked the display ASus in Office Depot where I purchased the device and it has not been updated either and has full wifi signal and plugged into power supply and I did a manual check and it came back no update available.. I wonder if it has the invalid serial number issue as well. I would really like to know how wide spread this "invalid serial number" is.
well i had to manually update mine. because it never got the update. but when i registered it, it registered fine.

Iconia users (me) suffer from delayed updates and then they're pushed 1 or 2 days (by states or regions) then pulled away, so, some are stock, some updated and some have 3.1... wich I think is worse.

Hey guys and gals, I have a bit of a problem/series of questions for you. I recently bought a TF300T from amazon during their presidents day sale. I immediately unlocked and rooted/rom-ed it knowing it would void my warranty and such. Anyways about 3 days after receiving the tablet I noticed some white blotches leaking through the backlight. I hadnt noticed them before since I hadnt watched any movies with a perfect black screen to let them shine through. Anyways, I requested a replacement from amazon and they are sending me one. However, even though it is back to stock, my tablet is still unlocked. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge dealing with amazon and their replacement policy? I told the customer service rep when I called to ask that it was unlocked, but she either didn't seem to know what I was talking about, or it wasnt a problem. Im just concerned Ill send my tablet back into them and then somehow be charged again because the replacement wasnt "allowed".
Thanks for any help!
Well since it's still functioning, I don't think it should matter. Plus what's wrong with it is not caused by unlocking or rooting. If they didn't mention anything you should be good.

Yep. What you've got is a hardware problem. Unlocking doesn't void that part of the warranty.
Alright cool thanks everyone it's much appreciated.

I RMAed my first TF300T and got another refurbished one but this one doesn't seem to want to receive OTA updates (I updated manually), the bootloader will not unlock (error), and asus device tracker tells me im entering the wrong serial. I know others have had a very similar issue and I am wondering if a fix has been found or if I will have to RMA again.

Some one else had similar issue but they unlocked the device then sent it in for rma which costed them like 200 but long story short they replaced the board which caused him to lose unlocked but device still showed was unlocked in asus' system so they wouldn't help him. Maybe be similar for you because its a refurb could have been unlocked by previous owner and not fixed properly if it was by asus or something but probably still shows its unlocked in there system. I'd report to asus the experience your have and see what they say and if possible I'd probably rma again if it came that way. What the point in keeping device that came broken already especially if someone elses error. Bty no fix for that yet and probably wont be for a while. Also depending on who you have to rma with might be difficult if thats the only issue i'd start looking for other issues like random reboot, bootloop, hdmi, etc. Just something to give them for a sure replacement. All thats your choice though if it worth going through the trouble again. Took me 2 weeks went nuts without it.

i have the same issue currently it a rma that was fixed say but it wasnt unlocked or anything was random booting so i tried to update it and bricked it well now i cant unlock it just says error
long story short: it took incredible three RMAs for me to get my bootloader unlocked. gotta hate those idiots at czech repair place. but kudos goes to helpful customer care.

For the 4th time now, my TF700 has crapped out on me. I have had to send it for repair 3 times now. Each time the main board has been replaced. The warranty is up in September. I have tried all of the tricks to get it to boot without any luck.
I really like this device when it is working and planned to get the new version in the fall but I may switch to Samsung.
What do you suggest?
Thanks,
gabato
That is one streak of bad luck! Check if your consumer protection laws entitle you to a replacement - not repair. Something is seriously wrong with your tablet - or you keep doing something seriously wrong

It will be a matter of bad luck but it is unfortunate, if they have replaced the motherboard several times but has not been resolved, they should replace it with a new computer. I have had the TF700 tf201 and I am delighted with its performance after unblock, root and install custom rom.

Wait for Samsung new tablets for the end of the year
unlock tool from asus, but a error shows up:
unknown network error,
please wait and try later.
I raise a ticket with ASUS attaching screen shot of system details... after 3 days they came back with the following
> After checking with the relevant department, it seems that your keybox file
> is incorrect and therefore we unfortunately can not give any further
> support.
On questing on what a keybox file was I got
>> I have contacted the relevant department and the Keybox file is a certification file for certain google services, and we use it to be one of the conditions for our unlock process. Unfortunately we can not give any further support. We are sorry for the inconveniece caused.
I have factory reset the tablet and still does not unlock - can anyone shed any light of what the keybox file is and how to fix....

I wonder if he knows what he is talking about.
When I unlocked it took many retries off and on over 2-3 weeks. Their server is really flaky. Eventually it did work.
I suggest continuing to retry the unlock a few times per day while you pursue the "keybox" business. Maybe you will get lucky.

Yeah, it took me a week and many dozens of attempts before it worked. Asus Support was useless on the issue - it just worked one day.
Your mistake was mentioning you were trying to unlock. That throws up a red flag to Asus support. They will not do a damn thing about their unlock tool not working. Other members have had success sending email to them complaing of the Asus Device Tracker not locating their tablet. Somehow that data and this "keybox" BS are tied into one another. Sending the same exact email 4 or 5 times a day until they finally do what they SHOULD do is what seems to have worked for others.
Nothing has worked for me. I just resigned myself to the fact that I bought junk and I have to live with this POS until I can afford something better. Hell I even gave some thought to making a video of me hammering this thing into my driveway and then asking for a donation of 1 dollar from each person that wanted to see it. When donations reached 500 dollars I would post it on youtube and send a copy to Asus along with an explanation and a signature list of other Asus owners who supported the video and would like to do the same to their 700, 701 or 200. But I gave up and just live with the fact it'll never be unlocked.
Good luck!
Same for me. I am able to use the device tracker, but not the unlock tool. Asus has really pissed me off and I have committed to costing them $10k of business. Currently I'm at $1-2k. Every time I see someone looking at Asus products, I tell them not to buy. I encourage you all to do the same.
