[Q] MD5 Does not match?? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey everyone,
So im flashing my phone back to stock and I followed and downloaded the stock firmwarefrom the stickies thread under the factory image link. Problem is, when I go toflash it, it has a MD5 hash value is invalid error. It talks about this occurence in the guide but does not really answer the question: Why does it not match? And howCan I flash this phone back to stock? Or where is therea valid download so I can do this?
EDIT: SO I found that linkon how to return to stock but the other questions regarding why the value has changed would be nice to know.
Much thanks to anyone who canhelp me! Its Urgent!

Retry downloading it, it just means a bad/interrupted download.

Is Odin similar to an RUU package/installer?
This is what your looking for:

The exe is a front end for Odin
-Ash-
THANK YOU VERY MUCH ASH!!!
I can rest assured now that we have a way back to stock.
I guess if you use Odin you don't need a pit file?

Normally with Odin i think you do need a pit file.
But (and i havent actually tested this out yet) with this EXE i believe its an all-in-one file that will restore you to stock

I had the same problem this morning. After scouring the forums all-day I found a solution that worked for me. Since I discovered Odin by mention of your post I thought i'd come back here and leave feedback and a link Just in-case the .exe file doesn't work.
I posted a workaround that worked well for me in Post #35

I'm getting an error on the md5 checker in oden while trying to push the stock rom. Is there a smaller stock rom I can get I think it was a bad download because I have to download using my epic 4g touch on 4g. No binary is selected message pops up.
Now trying the alternate method and when using the first step, flashing VRALF somehow bootloader was checked as well as f. Reset time. I clicked it and noticed afterward of course. Now when I try to flash the VRALF file I get a fail.
Edit: The other VRALF file also is not showing up next to PDA in Oden. Only the VRALF 1 is being recognized. The stock ROM and VRALF bootloader file says no binary selected.
Have you tried the steps in this link?

One thing is for sure, if you have a bad download it is not going to work so you need to make sure your download is good.

OK. when you used ODIN what .TAR file did you flash? the ROOT66 one? There are others there that eliminate most all of the bloatware from VZW. Also the link you posted isn't valid.....

I just rooted one yesterday with that DebugFS and didn't have an issue one..... I am going to guess a bad download somewhere... Did you check MD5's? I would download the Samsung drivers again download the DebugFS again and verify that you follow it step by step.... and double check MD5 to make sure you are getting a good download.

aware me on MD5's
MD5's are the long series of numbers and letters that accompany most downloads... You can find free MD5 SUM checkers on the net for your computer depending on your OS... You copy the MD5 from the download site and compare it to the one that the program you get generates... They must match to show all the info stayed the same through the download....
I think you forgot to untick factory reset in odin ?

[Q] [P3113] 100% Revert To Stock

I am currently running AOKP JB Milestone 1, Rooted, With CWM. I would like to totally revert my tablet back to its original state. Meaning Stock Recover, Stock ROM, etc. How do I do this? A step my step guide would be wonderful. People posting links to threads saying here you go does not help. I have looked through all the threads and the STOCK ODIN or whatever download link is dead.
Thank you for your patience and time.

If the firmware download link in the instructions doesn't work, go here, http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-P3113&pcode=XAR&os=1&type=3#firmware You will need to register to download the needed firmware. After you get the file, follow the instructions at android authority

You're welcome. I assume you have the usb drivers for windows. If not, dowload Kies then uninstall Kies, the drivers are separate, so they won't be uninstalled unless you opt to uninstall them. If you do keep Kies, make sure it is not running when you perform the procedure.
is this possible with p310?

P3100? Sure, just get the correct firmware for your device and follow the instructions at android authority. Link is a couple posts up. Also, I believe a stock firmware is available in our xda forum. Just search for the stock p3100 or register at sammobile and download. I assume you rooted and already have Odin.

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32155-guide-tab-2-101-and-70-rootingcwmroms/ has the stock. Flashing any manufacturer stock will unroot and install firmware and original recovery and not increase counter. And yes, same as flashing any rom, select the md5 file, etc.
So i'm going to download the pt310 firmware update from sammobile. Will i need a pit file to go with that? or can i use the pt311 ones on the andriod authority
Hopefully i'll get this sorted once sammobile let's me in log in... taking ages

Download only p3100--p3110-- is wifi only. Likely doesn't need a pit file, but don't quote me on that.

Roms and md5

Im about to download a rom but I noticed that there was a file with the same name as the rom, but it ended with .md5 So I researched about it, and found out it was only a verification code to make sure you downloaded the right file. Is it really that important? Because I've flashed roms before, and I didnt have to do that.
Thanks!

Well, it will help you check if you have a corrupt download which could brick your phone.
I have a md5 checker on my desktop, but I admit, I always forget to use it.
