Cant get odin to work stuck on system.img Galaxy S3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I tried to flash CyanogenMod and i couldn't activate / stuck in roaming. So, i followed the steps outlined here -- in the fixing data section ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053799 ). I have tried new USB cables, ports, restarts -- But Odin wont flash the system... It got far enough to flash the recovery away so I don't have CWM installed anymore... This is really starting to piss me off... Please help
I have searched everywhere but all i can find is people telling me to change my USB cable... I wish it was that simple.
Thanks,
Elliott

have you tried using another version of odin like 1.8.5

From what I have seen in ODIN none of this is right. Added should be 1rst line. Whole script line looks bad to me. Can't tell what you are doing. May need to PM me to avoid a brick.

Saw the updated instructions just hours after I posted that. Everything is up and running great!

Oh funny I ran across this tread. I just bought an s3 off contract, did the OTA update, and now it seems I can't get root or figure out even what I am doing wrong.
I have spent the better part of a day, bouncing between 3 computers and 4 software environments trying to get all the different guides I have found off of here to work. I have used the toolkit which I realizes states that you must have unlocked bootloader. I try to unlock bootloader, which the instructions seem to suggest that you must root first, I can't get any sort of file permissions to write root files. tried 3 different guides, all at the top of the forum lists.
Below is what I get when I try to flash file in odin per root instructions in tool kit:

[Q] Trying to Manually update to 5.0 SM-N9005; Odin - Error: FAIL!(Ext4)

Hi,
I am having a lot of trouble flashing my Note 3 (SM-N9005) 16gb to Android 5.0. At this point in time, all I can do is enter into DL mode.
I have been trying to use Odin to flash my device, but I think I must have messed up the PIT file by accident - using a 32gb instead of a 16 gb. I now know that I should never have touched the PIT button.
I am using this stock firmware: N9005XXUEND4_N9005FTMEND1_N9005XXUENC2_HOME.tar.md5 to get back to old version.
Odin reads:

You phone (or at least the stock firmware you want to use is "France - Orange") There has no official Lollipop update been released yet.
The pit file is "Hong Kong -Taiwan" , may be its not compatible to each other. Try to get a pit file that matches your firmware. Or take a firmware that matches the pit file. In any case you should backup your EFS before going on flashing different firmwares. Use TWRP to backup your EFS .
OK thanks. Downloading FW for Hong Kong - Taiwan now. I will let you know if it works.

Already did it from 2 different sources still having the same problem I have the stock rom but with a different kernel, I want to return to stock as if it was a new phone
if i had to guess, that is the wrong .tar for your phone - were you on N920TUVU1BOH6 to begin with??
you cannot go backwards - if it's a tmobile phone, you should be going to coi5
I'm getting the same thing or this...

Then it just stops.
Trying to unroot because the phone turns off randomly since I rooted.
The phone turns of because the roms come without kernels. You must download and flash a kernel after flashing your rom of choice.
Download the latest coi5 firmware, double check md5 values, and flash. There shouldn't be any troubles.
