I tried the app but it says that "your device is not supported".
I may try later to reproduce the tutorial, but it is quite long and evolved and it may be very device specific. So I am not sure I can follow it successfully.
This is a major bug in my point of view. We should be loud about it so that Sony step in and try to fix it.
---------- Post added at 08:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 AM ----------
A suggestion:
If you want to check whether your device has this bug try "Wakelock Detector" from Play Store (its a free app). After installing the app go into settings and select "Advanced mode". If you device is affected it should show "Device (or something like this, my app is in Portuguese so I am tying to translate back into English)" in th top spots (in my case it is in the top by a large margin). Clicking in this entries to show the details you'll see that "Data dormancy" is the major reason.
Also note that your device should stay most of the time Awake instead of being in Deep Sleep mode.
Finally, this problem only affects devices if you operator network does not support data dormancy. This seems case of the Vivo network in Barzil, at least where I live. If your operator supports data dormancy it is then a good thing, as it helps to save battery.

There is a long tutorial there on how to manually modify the fast dormancy parameters. But you will need to unlock your bootloader first because you need to write to /system. Mine is not unlocked yet, I still creating courage to do it. I'll probably do it to better investigate this bug.

Yes, I meant something along those lines, I believe that that post is the origin of the idea described in the Samsung section.
By doing some more research I came across to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40606899&postcount=38 that suggest to use
ro.semc.enable.fast_dormancy=false
in build.prop. It is for Xperia T, but at least it is a Sony device.
Can you try as your bootloader is already unlocked?

Weird. It did work for me. I changed the configuration using Build Prop Editor , rebooted and it is working right now. No "Data Dormancy" wakes anymore. Try using this app. Note that it did work even in a locked bootloader (I haven't unlocked mine).
Obs: I tried before from the command line using setprop and it didn't work, so success may depend on how you try to edit the option.

Great you solved the issue.
It feels great to have the phone eating only 1.5-2% of the battery an hour after this change (from 6% before).
Thank your for the tutorial too. I will help other people.

Didn't worked for me also. After restart there is data dormancy wakeup again.
Xperia M2, 4.3 rooted.
I don't know if i missed something, installed build prop editor, make the changes and restarted.
The thread asks for busybox installed, i don't have busybox and i don't know if its important.
EDIT: After installed busybox, the above stayed on reboot ok.
Because fast dormancy wakelock apperared after ~12 hours after a reboot, i will wait some hours to check if it appeares again. Thank you.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the SK4G or knows about any solutions. My GPS has been unable to get a fix since before I even rooted. I hoped rooting and installing a custom ROM would fix this but so far that is a no.

No worries about responding right away, this isn't a huge issue just something I'd like to fix if possible. It is my only phone but I don't need GPS daily so no rush.
If you mean turn GPS off/on in settings I have done that several times. Most recently I turned it on and rebooted but still no GPS fix. Time is getting close to needing a new device lol...

Try this script I found on XDA and see if it sets it to Permissive after boot. If it doesn't work all you need to do is delete it. You'll need Init.d support. There's app on the playstore that emulate Init.d. Remember to install busybox first.

Well that's a bummer! Are you on the stock ROM or Custom ROM? For the custom ROM I know there are kernels here that are permissible by default. I'm not sure about the stock ROM. Have you looked into doing a soft reboot and see if the selinux policy sticks to what you want?
Here's an app that does soft reboot. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=simple.reboot.com&hl=en
Maybe that'll work. Doesn't hurt try right?
@Jorge_007 I used a stock ROM now.But I don not want to change kernel. Do you have other ways?

I'm not sure why you're having issues. I just installed the selinuxmodechanger app I mentioned earlier and it changes it to permissive after boot.... All I did was check the box show notification. What exactly are you doing that needs selinux to be permissive. Anyways, that's the end of the line for me. I don't know of any other ways to do it. Sorry.

No problem. And Viper4Android doesn't work well on lollipop stock ROM. I've already tried it before. When it does work it only worked for Google Play Music and nothing else. You're suppose to disable Nuplayer in the developer settings for V4A to work at all on lollipop. It worked best on Kitkat for stock ROMs.
PLEASE CLOSE THREAD - THANKS!
I'M WILLING TO PAY $50 TO THE PERSON WHO'LL FIX IT
The phone was bought in bootloader unlocked status... so DRM keys were lost permanently....
The main issue: The wifi is not working, when turned on, it says "turning on" and It remains in that state, frozen and forever, and it never change.. I can't tick It back to off... also, the Wifi Mac Address is Unavailable in Android 5.1.1 But when I updated to 6.0 it changed to 22:00:00:00:00:00 and the problem persist.. same for the bluetooth, Mac Address unavailable, and cannot turn it on.
I did relock the bootloader in Flashtool, and I repaired It in Pc Companion, but nothing has changed. I did unlock again, and installed custom kernel, rooted, and installed Drmrestore, and same nothing worked!
I did a full wipe, I flashed in flashtool, then I did update in PC Companion, and now it's on Android 6.0, and nothing changed...
I've tried several stock rom versions, and still the same. Now, i'm currently in Android 6.0
Anyone has any advanced knowledge in that matter and if it's possible to be fixed/repaired/restored...etc, maybe something was lost in TA partition that affected the wifi and bluetooth functionality, maybe a missing folder in the system that could only be restored by doing some advanced programming...etc
some members in here told me it might be a hardware issue (wifi module...etc) i don't know, I would like to try again if there is another chance to fix it, so i'm not giving up YET!
anyone can PM me or leave a comment below. I'd appreciate your contributions and help.
PHONE SOLD OUT THIS MORNING Thanks to all.

Did you have any success upon relocking and flashing again? Did you try a Marshmallow build?
If this does not help the next option would be to flash an image (in unlocked state) without the initial setup included to bypass it.

If it is still broken after full wipe, maybe it's hardware issue...
There should be some error or warning in logs.
Code:
adb shell logcat -d > logcat.txt
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
will save logs (run it after restart)
Once u unlocked bootloader, did you flash drm keys back to the device?

Love the walkthrough style. Thanks for writing this up.
Taking the dive later this week, I have been missing root since moving to QAA. I will try to update over the weekend.
Worked!
Everything worked like a charm. I was already on nougat. followed instructions from step 2 and everything is working. I did have to run root.bat twice to get supersu app to show up, but it was already stated in directions which helped greatly for me not to freak out at that point lol. Anyways as i stated it worked like a charm and anyone on the fence if you rooted before you will be able to do this for sure. Once again thank you very much good sir!
Thanks for the root method I have been waiting for something to come out can't wait to try.
And just a heads up it is frowned upon on XDA to share paid apps.
About to attempt, will post results
How is it running? Smooth? hot?

It isn't hard, just have to be careful. I messed up so many times idk how many times I've had to flash stock img. Let me know what happens.

Awesome. You're welcome, glad it worked. Yea SuperSU is tricky and can be interferred with easily. Keep me posted of anything good or bad please. Have fun.

Thanks for the root method I have been waiting for something to come out can't wait to try.
And just a heads up it is frowned upon on XDA to share paid apps.

Thanks for the work! But not sure what you mean here. Are you saying Knox was tripped? And you cant use volume up when adjusting volume?

Im guessing its a package i disabled or didn't disable so it will take a bit to sort out. Its no biggie i might need to reroot. I can still raise the volume if i press volume down and move the slider. This is the only minor problem I've seen.
Does anyone know where I can find the nougat firmware? Trying to start fresh after a not successful root. Thanks

Okay, but what if there is no data? Then what?
Worked great buddy. No issues here. Runs just as smooth for me as stock did.

If that's the case I would suggest starting over...But just data? Can you call or text? Bluetooth?Hotspot? Is there an LTE symbol in notification bar with no data? Or is it just bars with no service completely? Double check your package disabler.

I imported your XML files for the disabled packages and attempted root. I had an error where it would take a few minutes for an app to update after downloading, do you know how to fix this?

I actually completely restarted the process by reflashing back to stock with the file you linked at the beginning and just followed the process again and got it working this time. Cheers for this tutorial. :good:

Try clearing google play store and google play services cache, if there is little cache then clear data and reenter your gmail. Youre talking about when updating in play store right? If not try only disabling these below instead [from goongydin's thread] and flash engineer. Or manually disabling from list(dont import). But once we disable these apps and flash boot img, these apps aren't supposed to change status which would mean repetitive testing. My honest answer is always going to be try from beginning again.
Bootagent
Carrier Setup Wizzard
Chameleon
Com.android.carrierconfig
MobileInstaller
SAE
Setup Wizzard
securityLogAgent

Anyone have a link for an decrpted boot image for the new ota update.? also can somebody merge all the different ways and do and don'ts for this build to be able to unlock (have the code) and flash TWRP and root this device. so many different solutions confusing on the best method to use. Please help Thank you.
Use this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-how-to-root-mate-9-decrypt-data-t3569986
no need to decrypt image as superuser (superroot) does it for you.
As for unlocking bootloader, there's only one way. Just follow the TWRP thread for that

Did you use this guide for getting root?
[GUIDE]HOW TO ROOT YOUR MATE 9 with Decrypt Data in TWRP without needing a patched
Did it go well? I'm going to follow your steps as I have completely the same version of the device.

to update thru OTA u must reflash stock Recovery, then after updated to the latest firmware BL will be lock and your root will be gone,so u need to unlock BL and flash TWRP and redo all the rooting steps again.
Is there a op that tells how to do that and can i extract a copy of the stock recovery sorry to ask such obvious questions but im trying to learn how to do all this. Thanks again

Try wiping cache and dalvik/art cache in twrp. Then check Settings - Notifications & Statusbar - Notifications Management if they're allowed.

Then I don't know.
Try reinstalling them?
Or do you mean notifications on lockscreen? Because they won't show.
Huawei locked it down good. (at least for me, can't even get Spotify to show current song)
Floatify works great for lockscreen notifications though.
Edit: Actually, more people seem to have notification bugs with Messenger and WhatsApp. Maybe it's just a Huawei thing?
Or did they work before rooting?
Could you also check that they're not being closed automatically by the super aggressive battery saver thingie?
Settings - Battery: check that Power Saving is not turned on.
Next click on the cogwheel in the battery screen and make sure "Close excessively power-intensive apps" is not turned on.
And check in Settings - Apps - [App you want to check] - Battery that "Close after screen locked" is not turned on.
