[Q] problem installing the rom Darkroom Music Edition XXL, somebody help me! - LG Optimus 3D

installed the rom "V28b Prerooted with larger System / Data Partitions" in order to install the rom "Darkroom Music Edition XXL", already tried several times and nothing works, put the rom in the internal memory card, do the wipes that are sent in the tutorial, and nothing but "Security error" out, what am I doing wrong? Or the tutorial is poorly explained? Usage of the TWRP v28b rom that is on the site of the tutorial.
Someone put this tutorial could be clearer?

For large partition v28B, after flashing it you must enter System Settings/Storage and erase internal memory (not external sd ) to format internal storage, before anything else.

you say the "wipe internal storage"? but I put the rom in the internal memory, and when I do it and then when I go to install zip (if the rom) everything disappears. What do not know what else to do to with the rom 28b installed again, but now so I will do the procedure again when you have a more concrete solution.

After flashing v28B Large, start up the phone (follow the Android guy to start the phone the first time). Then erase internal memory in Android System Settings, not in TWRP. Yes, it will erase everything in memory. It formats the memory to be 'big.' If this is not done, a ROM like XXL can't fit, that's why it fails to install.
If you look at system memory available space and internal memory available space before you erase... after erasing you will see a size difference.
Then copy ROM zip to internal memory (or micro sd external memory), enter recovery, perform wipes as indicated, and install ROM.

I can then install the rom the Memory Card as well?

Yes, either.

Choose your country's firmware from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/firmware-Lg+Optimus+3D-Tutti-2.html and then extract the kdz file you downloaded to bin and fls files with this tool http://d-h.st/kIz

Ok I looked over there; that ROM requires wkpark custom bootloader 1.25a. That may explain the trouble. So enter TWRP, first install wkpark 1.25 and then the ROM.
There are links someplace to stock v30A but an alternative is XBSA v8, no custom bootloader required. After installing v28B, installing XBSA v8 updates firmware to v30A.

You need to flash different recovery its in rom . Find
VERY FAST
VERY STABLE
VERY SMOOTH
LOW BATTERY
MADE BY DARKROOM
Then picture above and text above thats it read it and change recovery.
Try this before you give up on this rom its 1000000 times better than stock.

Cannot Access Internal Storage After S-off

I S-off'd my HTC Sensation using Revolutionary's S-Off & recovery tool. I also installed the Superuser app to give me 'root' although I simply cannot access the phone's internal memory. (only my 8GB SD card is recognized by W764bit).
I've tried everything I can think off, including: uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, rebooting, enabling USB debugging, factory rest, renaming the ext-SD's drive from H to Z, enabling disk connection type, installing HTC Sync, mounting/demounting,
Bizarrely, when I physically remove the ext SD card Windows 7 displays a drive, although its unaccessable and PC connect goes into charge only mode with 'disk' option not available.
I did have trouble installing Superuser 3.0.7 and had to retry several times, also in the apps menu its icon is a green android appose to a grey andoid with cross bones. Does this mean my phone's not rooted?
I also noticed whilst backing up using the recoverythat it does find the ext SD. I'm in a bit a situation because I used Revolutionary so I could install ICS, and now it's available over OTA I can't install it because of the S-Off.
Would it be easier for me to reurn it to stock and just install over OTA?
I've tried everything I can think of and searched everywhere to resolve this issue so help much appreciated.
Cheers Ian
Internal memory isn't meant to be accessed.
No the green Android is the new icon, you should be rooted. To check download an app like Titanium and see if you can obtain root access.
Is your SD card formatted as an EXT partition?
Easiest way to get ICS from where you are is to follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21989107
I assume you've already done SuperCID so backup your stuff and then move onto the part that says update firmware.
Do you mean you can't access the SD card from the phone? Or just from the computer?
If you can view the SD card contents from within the phone just fine, it could be that you formatted the SD card with a file structure that's incompatible with Windows.
Thanks for the reply K0mic... When I said memory I meant storage, or is this the came case?
If Revolutionary S-Off is a bootloader unclocker then use I've SuperCID (sorry complete noob), but yeah I got the beta key.
The SD card is FAT32 ATM which will el[plain why the backup doesn't recognize it What's the best way to format it to EXT? is it using 3rd party software or can it be done with Android?
I went to follow this guide:
w w w .androidauthority.c o m/sensation-install-ics-aokp-rom-63544
when installing ICS and 'step 4' is the problem I have; I simply cannot access the Sensation's Internal SD card :/ Windows only displays the phone's fitted 8GB microSD card :/

I can view the microSD fine with W7, but maybe that's because its Fat32. It's the internal SD card I can't access, or is it because that one has an EXT partition?
Cheers Ian
You cannot access your internal memory (it's not an internal sd card) from windows explorer. You'll need to use adb in order to obtain access to your internal memory through your pc...
android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADB
Ahh... that explains why then I take it the internal storage is where the HBoot and ROM resides?
I think I may has misinterpeted what ext SDcard means. (I thought it mean external, i.e. the microSD card you can access/remove. So, when a website's guide tells to to place a ROM's file in the internal SD and not the EXT SD they mean place the file on the FAT32 partion of the same physical micro SDcard that contains both FAT32 and EXT partitions correct?
And the true internal storage is where the ROM (GB/ICS) and Hboot is located along with all of the OS' system files? If this is the case I take it there's no real reason for the average person to want or need to access the device's internal storage unless allowing a tool like Revolutionary to write to it.
I hope I've explained myself enough, so do I have the right understanding now?
Cheers Ian

You can see your SD card in windows 7 (PC) but not the internal memory. If you want to flash something in to your phone's internal memory (hboot, boot, system, recovery etc) through the PC, you can use adb command. Or you can flash the zip file thorough SD card with custom recovery.
If you want to change the android system file on phone, you can use root explore (you can find it on google play) or other apps.

So all I need to do to get ICS on my S-off Sensation is download the relevant ICS ROM to my micro SDcard and run it from recovery?
Also, is recovery not recognizing Ext SD because I've not created the partition yet? If so what is the EXT partition actually used for?
Cheers Ian

If you want to get custum ICS ROM, first, you need a s-off phone, then flash a custom recovery, then flash adequate firmware (hboot, radio) with custom recovery, then flash the custum rom. You can found detail guide and files in sensation Rom develope forum.
The sencond question, I don't know what kind of problems you met. When you enter recovery, you can choose install zip from SD card. Or you met another promblem?
I hope these answer can help you
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium HD app
I think I am kind of get what you problem is, as I read thru the site you give it seem have some mistake at no 4. Because you want see or never have access to internal memory of the phone. Just place the ROM on the SD card. as you see on step 9 you have to “wipe data/ factory reset” the phone. This procedure will definetly remove/delete the rom if you place in internal memory. The Clock Work Recovery also don't have function to install ROM from internal memory. I think maybe some miss typo on the site.
Another things is if you are now on stock Gingerbread not custom ROM you'll be get the FOTA update. Since S-OFF and rooting don't bother the update file, but you have to change to Default or original Recovery because you will get hang on htc white screen after reboot. Maybe the FOTA just not been role up on your country/carrier or unknown reason.

I am running what I believe stock Gingerbread, but I used Revolutionary Tool to aquire S-off and installed Clock Work Recovery. I installed Superuser for root, although I believe this to be just a normal app and nothing to do with the Hboot process.
I used the Revolutionary tool so I could manually install ICS as at the time it wasn't available OTA, although it became available yesterday, but now I've tinkered around with the Revolutionary tool it won't install, only hanging with the red exclamation mark.
That typo you so rightly pointed out to me cost me a lot of time wasting. I spend hours trying to resolve what I thought was an issue Muppets who wrote those instructions!
How can I install ICS OTA now? Either way I can't install atm as things are.
Cheers Ian
Always check the software update on settings.
If you can find a link to download the compatible FOTA file or RUU you may go with it. But remember to install Stock Recovery before OTA I use this guide to get back to Stock Recovery it may help you to. [GUIDE] Get Stock Recovery/Install OTA Updates without losing data.
Other's option is install custom ROM go to Sensation Android Development, there are many great custom ROM you may find one that suite you. Just follow the instruction carefully.
If you want something similar to OTA you may want to try this [ROM] HTC Sensation *STOCK* ROMs | 3.32.401.x | Ice Cream Sandwich | HTC Sense 3.6 but I recommended [ROM] Android Revolution HD 6.6.0 | ICS | High Quality & Performance | 3.32.401.105 for many support and guide.

Top man I found a link on how to remove Revolutionary and return the phone to stock although I don't see the point if I can install tweaked ROMs like that I take it I can install the ROMs with S-off and rooted?
You can install OTA updates, or custom ROMs with s-off and root. The catch is that you'll need to change between recoveries to do so...
OTA updates = stock recovery
Custom ROMs = CWM or EXT4 recoveries
Follow the link provided two posts up, or let me know if you want a PG58IMG.zip I made for the stock recovery. I made another for CWM touch but I won't share warez.
Also, if you're going to flash a custom ICS rom you'll need to update your firmware first to one of the 3.32 releases...

HELP! Optimus 3D has no memory?

I have an Optimus 3D from Rogers (the P925g) and I wasn't able to use many roms because I didn't have the 21e baseband. I tried flashing it, after I flashed one for the P250 (which apparently would work on mine), the phone had decided that the internal memory doesn't exist now. I can mount the SD card, but both the usable memory and the space reserved for apps is missing. The phone still boots and I can access a few select apps, but I am really at a loss for how to fix this.
Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated!

You just have many data in your device. it is like to install win95, win2000 winXP and win7 in one folder on your computer
Open CWM -> go to mounts and storage
Format System
Format Data
Format Cache
DO NOT REBOOOT !!!
Install the ROM you want from ZIP file.

That's just it- I can't even access CWM anymore. I can't install ROM Manager to flash CWM because I don't have any app memory, and I can't even flash it using my computer because, again, the phone thinks there is no memory to store apps in.
Would screenshots help in this situation?
Well. Apparently, after reflashing the same thing maybe 7 different times, it has decided to work. So, thanks for anyone who looked into this. Sorry about all this too. -.-

[root tool] Toshiba Thrive 10.1" ICS

(Now, I know this is not in the right section or even in the device's page, but...)
Forewarning: I am NOT responsible for any damages caused by running this tool. (You ran it, not me.) Also, do NOT use on the Thrive 7 or ANY of the Excites! The Thrive 7 has an entirely different bootloader/partition layout than the 10.
Pio_masaki and I have been working hard for almost a year to get root on the ICS version of the Toshiba Thrive 10.
Last night, I was able to finally sneak past sealime.ko and have it work.
It uses the "root any ICS device" tool, with special modifications specifically for the Thrive 10.
(can't post any links, so it's on the "thrive-hackers" github page.)
Special note: While it is set up for OSX ADB, I have not been able to find any binaries.

Saying there is a method to root it now, yes, we got around sealime.ko. This means we can flash the HC bootloader which is unlocked, which allows custom recovery and kernels/ramdisks (boot.img) to be used.
BTW the link is https://github.com/Thrive-Hackers
congrats guys ! very awesome work !
jdsingles deodexed ROM w/ agat63's 1.3 kernel Suped up w/ CB 6.26.13
More specifically, it bypasses sealime to flash the unlocked bootloader. What we did was we MVd /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 to 0p9. It's a pure fluke Pio and I found out that it works. We found out that sealime was explicitly blocking write to 0p6, so he semi-sarcastically said to move it. I ran the mv command, whadda ya know? It worked!
'Course, getting the tool completed wasn't as simple as that...
PS: Could we get this moved to the Toshiba Thrive Development section?
Have instructions been written for the process?
worked for me
I used this tool on Jul 8 and it worked very well. I got it from thriveforums dot org. Thank you pio_masaki and AmEv.
I tried changing the recovery to the latest TWRP using "fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.4.1.0.img" while in bootloader. I was not able to, though as it kept giving me errors.
Does this bootloader not allow flashing a recovery? I noticed the rootme script uses adb commands to push the CWM recovery.
I am now running Dale's latest deodexed rooted ICS rom with the CWM recovery he included.
Other unrelated lessons learned:
If you can't mount your SD card in recovery, try a different card!
And, Dale packages his update.zip inside the downloaded zip file!

I installed the drivers, used the root tool, the restore was successful, but now the tablet is stuck in a boot-loop mode.
The root tool was running, there was a line that said the screen would go blank, which it did, and it stayed there for several hours. When I came back to check on it, the tablet was off, so I turned it on. That's when I found the boot loop. It'll get to the home page, tell me that nova launcher has stopped, then loop back to the moving stars section of the boot screen.
Any ideas on what to do now?

if CWM is still alive, so just flash any ROM via CWM (flashing wipes all your data that exist in internal memory, so you need to make backup via CWM if you wish to save your data; and after flashing ROM you can import all data via Titanium Backup)

You know, I feel kinda dumb because I didn't even try that!
Now i've tried it, and I see I can get into CWM.
I put a ROM on an SD card on my PC, then put that SD card into the Thrive and used CWM to install the .zip of the ROM I selected, and it won't install. It starts, then it says Installation aborted, but won't tell me why.
Any ideas where I should start unraveling this mystery?
1. check that your recovery is CWM and not stock recovery
2. check that you put on SD archive that contain folders named system and META-INF, file like boot.img, something other maybe (many ROMs archive contain "archive in archive", so you need to unpack archive from main archive and than put that internal archive on SD); after checking that all right try to flash that archive again
3. try another sdcard (full sized SDHC + formated in FAT32)

Excellent!
1) I had to extract "update.zip" from the ROM I had downloaded.
2) I re-formatted the card I was using to FAT32 instead of FAT.
3) I was able to get the install started with no trouble after following your directions.
BIG THANK YOU FOR THAT!

Problems after Mount Changes
I changed the mount as described on thriveforums.org to allow apks and data to go to the external sd rather than "shared" internal memory.
I now have the situation with less free memory available on the sd card than on internal. The CWM backups went on the physical card- a 32 G one almost full. Will look for a major mfr 64 Gig.
One or so issues with the revised mounts where the external sd card is now internal. They relate to making backups with dalepl's latest CWM 6.0.1: where to put CWM backups for now and are they being made correctly with the revised mounts?
The backup made prior to the mount change looks normal: a single, dated/numbered folder about 2.6 Gb, 6 files: boot.img, cache.ext4.tar, data.ext4.tar, nandroid.md5, recovery.img and system.ext4.tar. However, the one made after the mount change also has a dated, numbered folder of only 15.8 Mb and 7 files: .android_secure.vfat.dup, boot.img, cache.ext4.dup, data.ext4.dup, nandroid.md5, recovery.img and system.ext4.dup. There is a second folder associated with the later bu called "blobs", which is huge --2.76 Gb, 3292 folders and 6581 files. Is this an expected result and any one think it might be a valid bu?
Also, it went on to the external SD (now "internal") and total storage use is now almost 28 Gb out of 30.2. I now have the situation with less free memory available on the sd card than on internal. The stuff there looks ok, pix movies and music plus CWM bups of 5.5 G and App_Backup_Restore archived apks at 2.8 Gb. So, I copied the cwm backups folder to the real internal memory, now sdcard2. I assume this true internal memory might get wiped during a restore so, this is not a valid storage site for this? And, if I put copies on a spare card, will that really work if my downloaded apps are on the original card, eg does the CWM backup copy the external card apps?
As I note, for some reason this 'blobs' folder won't copy easily to a USB via the Thrive or Win 7 pc. It also won't copy to a Win 7 HD partition where I store my Thrive stuff. (Update: I was able to do a wireless transfer to my pc and then, from there, to a spare SD card.)
Any thoughts? Should I go back and change the mounts to default?
BTW, I find FolderMount has no real use with the changed mount on the Thrive unless someone tells me otherwise. With the Thrive mounting the external card as internal, files go to the physical card.
gberpa,
I don't understand your question - it is very long. But I know that custom recovery (CWM / TWRP) itself remounts sdcard and internal memory before wipe process so it will wipe correct memory (only internal memory). If you need to change the ROM you don't need to worry about mounting paths because after wipe mounting paths will be restored to original.

i got back my imei fixed through a local store. i tried everything which didn't work at that moment. now i have my imei and i used mtk droid tools to take a backup this time and tried the whole process again. i used sp flash tools and the zip method for increasing internal memory for installing color os rom. but it didn't work again.
the current status of my phone is that i am using stock rom which is rooted but all i wanted to ask is that did i mess up with my internal sd card which is actually not allowing me to install color os rom? or is it something else? because i did each and every step correctly each time.

so what do you think is the exact problem? the storage space space showing on my pc used to more before i tried to increase it.
and do you think this has been the problem which is not allowing me to install color os rom? please help me bro i am tired with the stock rom. I wonder flashing custom roms in mmx a52 was much more easier lol

I followed each step correctly..
i used 880mb partition file for that i did wipe data/factory reset>wipe cache>wipe system> wipe dalvik cache and then installed 880mb.zip
as memntioned in that thread i installed the rom zip directly after that and rebbot system. i was supposed to get the bootloop at first which i got and then i did wipe data/factory reset>wipe cache>wipe system> wipe dalvik cache again and installed rom again. but i am stuck in bootloop.
i was reading the reviews in color os thread and it was mentioned to unmount cache and sytem before flashing i did that too but no luck.
so please let me know if i did anything wrong because thiis is all i have been trying.

Figured out internal Sd card mount error clear solution.
Here's what i think you have done
You did a system partition with sptool and also tried zip like 507mb to 1gb or in between .
I had the same problem of lost internal sd card in file manager.
If you want it back or increase system partition try factory mode to format unmount error of internal sd card.
follow these steps.
1) take or keep a backup in sd card.
2) go into cwm recovery mode and flash 507mb partition zip or 1gb partition zip(507mb for undo partition and 1gb for partition)
3)To solve mount issue without external sd card go to factory mode after the flash.
select "Full test" option in it select memory it'll show 3 options
1 Format ext...
2 test pass
3 test fail
And it shows the space in yellow text in two sd card as 0 mb or any . Select the first option which will increase the space of internal sd.
After you'll just need to update or restore backup to successfully fix mount error for internal sd card either for partition or undo partition.
This worked for me when i just tried various format option to format the partition error.

Storage space running out after installing lineageOS.

After installing twrp i wiped my x509 by fastboot qnd then simply installed lineage. Now the issue is,on storage i see 29.5 gb used of 29.11 gb and a notification always showing "storage space running out". Can't even take screenshots. Please help!!!!!!

Same here
Try wiping internal storage and data from TWRP.
Fastboot do't work as expected so either try with twrp or flash stock with sp flash tool then install LOS
I too have the same problem. I don't remember how I got myself into this problem but I remember that I was flashing a "custom rom" and my internal storage by default which is (without any files in the storage except the newly flashed rom) 32 gb which is in general is 29.12gb. Was decreased to 24 gb. And after reading many pages and bull**** I came to know that my phone has created an "virtual sd card" without my knowledge.
Failed solutions : I have tried everything. (when I say everything I mean it)
1.I have format my internal memory
2. Flashed an "stock rom" (no twrp) and again format my storage.
And none of the above worked out.
IF ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW SOMETHING AND WILLING TO HELP. DO REPLY.
PEACE OUT
