[Q] SGH-I727R no LTE, and no tethering - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm in Manitoba, which finally got LTE this past Monday after almost 2 years of waiting. My phone is on a corporate account. I'm running CM10.1 with the UCMC1 radio. I received an LTE SIM with the phone, along with a regular SIM. I had been using the regular SIM until Monday when our phone guy got my LTE SIM activated. I'm still only getting 3G and H+. I've set my APN to the following:
APN - ltemobile.apn
Proxy - <not set>
Port - <not set>
Username- <Not set>
Password - <not set>
Server < not set>
MMSC - h t t p ://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS - proxy 10.128.1.69
MMS - Port 80
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - *
I've tried *#*#4636#*#* and set the network type to every option. If I set it to LTE only, I get no signal at all. Do I have a defective SIM?
For tethering, I've tried the stock tethering and my PC will connect, but no Internet. I've tried "WiFi Tether" app with the same settings that worked on ICS and my PC cannot see my phone. I've tried every combination of settings to no avail. Using ltedata.apn. This was happening before I changed to an LTE SIM.

It constantly switches back and forth between 3G, H & H+
Speed tests are between 400kbps and 5000kbps down. As they always have been.

Which CM10.1 date are you on? Use a newer one if possible i.e. CM10.1RC5. Do a clean install. Install the radio first then ROM.

Use 4636 switch to LTE all bands then back to auto. As for tethering look for the WiFi tethering fix in the general section.

I'm on RC5. I did a full wipe before installing. Radio installed first. I've tried a few different CM10.1 builds.

I've done this. On "LTE only" I get no signal at all. No settings give me LTE. I've also tried all of the WiFi tethering fixes to no avail. I think that might be a carrier problem. My PC will connect, get Internet for about 20 seconds, then no Internet. I have a corporate 1GB plan and used to tether no problem under previous Android versions. I've asked our IT person to contact Rogers and request they enable tethering.

APN Settings?

I got a Skyrocket this morning, however I did not opt for a new sim because I am in a non-LTE area. But I later realized that although I can make calls, I cannot receive calls, texting does work but data does not and I have no MMS. I set up a new APN using the same settings I had used on my Infuse 4G and now everything works except for MMS. Although I changed the apn I was not able to delete the stock apn that didn't work. Any ideas?
Here are the apn settings I used: wap.cingular, username: [email protected], password: CINGULAR1, MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com, MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32, APN type: internet + MMS.

Oh that is very cool to hear, I may end up having to do that. I kept my sim however because it is a microsim and I like to switch back and forth between my Androids and an iPhone using an adapter.

Oh my bad, I didn't see that you're in a non-LTE area. Did you try the "phone" APN used for HSPA+ connections?
Also, APN should not have any effect on your ability to make or receive calls

You're right, the inability to receive calls was just a fluke. "Phone" worked for data but not MMS.
These settings made everything work in case anyone else needs them:
Name: Cingular 410
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>

I guess this means that my data speeds are not going to be as high as they could be, but this does enable me to keep my microsim and switch back and forth with an iPhone.

I guess not, I will call now and see if I can get that switched over. I would have thought they would have done that back when I bought the Infuse 4G, but apparently although the signal said 4G, I wasn't getting the speed.
I didnt get a new sim and am on stock apn settings with no issues. I asked about a new sim and they had no idea what i was talking about.

It depends when you last had to get a new SIM. The SIMs for LTE are different than UMTS. The PTA APN works just fine on all networks (E, 3G, H+ and LTE).
Just got off the phone and was told that I can't change my 3G Unlimited plan to a 4G one without them sending me a 4G Sim and then activating it and that they don't have a 4G microsim. Maybe I can do this to switch the plan and then ask for them to send me another microsim.

wont work. there is a micro SIM for LTE (you can probably guess how I know that) but I am guessing the adapter will not pass LTE but since the iphone is not LTE that may not matter.
BTW, you will not loos your unlimited data. They just add it to a unlimited LTE data plan. You can confirm this after the change on myatt.

Sorry, I guess I'm being a little slow tonight, but I don't quite understand what you are saying. Let me rephrase my question.
When using the "phone" apn, MMS does not work for me. I would like to be able to use the "phone" apn to get HSPA+ speeds and have MMS working. Currently I am having to use the "wap.cingular" apn so that my MMS will work.
I am currently using a 1 year old microsim that came in the iPhone 4. I have the unlimited data for iPhone.
What data plan should I be on so that I can use the "phone" apn with working MMS?
Also, can this data plan work with a microsim so that I can have HSPA+ speeds when using my Galaxy but also have the ability to use the iPhone 4 on some days?
The reason the default settings don't work is because you NEED to have a LTE data plan on your account. Trust me I know what I am talking about ;-). Once you have that provisioned on your account the default APN settings will work just fine.

For phone APN, set it to Internet only.
Then, set up another APN with the wap.cingular APN and set that to MMS only

MicroSIM is only for iPhone 4/4s. Every other device uses a regular sized SIM. You'd have to keep going back and getting a new SIM everytime you'd like to use each phone.
I work for AT&T, I do it all the time, haha.
Couldn't you just trim a LTE sim card to the micro-sim size? xD

Hi all-
I had to reload my phone recently, and discovered some issues with Rogers on LTE.. the LTEMobile APN appears to block tethering.
I've tried tethering several tablets (Nexus7, Galaxy Note10) and my laptop through LTEmobile and the only traffic that passes is DNS lookups, yet the phone itself works fine. IF I switch back to the stock Rogers HSPA APN, rogers-core-appl1.apn, all tethered devices work fine.
When I called Rogers technical support on this, the technician tells me that for tethering on LTE device, I must use lteinternet.apn; this is 'the designated APN for wifi tethering devices on the Rogers LTE network'.. LTEInternet.apn uses all the same default configuration as LTEmobile.apn, it is simply a different APN name.
HOWEVER- As I add the APN and test my phone and the Galaxy Note on the phone with him, I can clearly see (at least in my location currently) that the LTEInternet APN is actually *not* LTE, according to the apps on the phone it's connecting at HSDPA/HSPA+ and two Android Speedtest.net runs from my phone with the two APNs one after the other seem to bear this out: LTEMobile got 15Mbit downloads and 8Mbit uploads (still crappy in this location), 2 minutes later the LTEInternet APN got 1.8Mbit down and 0.39Mbit up. Switching back to LTEmobile.apn, my phone negotiates an LTE connection with the same tower.
So while it is named LTEInternet, it appears to be a kneecapped HSPA-only APN for tethering, deliberately limiting tethering speeds. As though a fixed data cap wasn't enough, now they kneecap the line speed for tethering too.

[Q] Slow data with SKYICS

After switching to SKYICS, my data has sucked. At first I was barely getting 90kbps on the speedtest, after a wipe and a reflash of everything, barely 1mbps. Any suggestions? I've wiped, cleared caches and reflashed the update, reflashed the modem, and no luck.

I'm on ICS. I switched ROMS to CM9 to see if SKYICS was the problem, and same thing. The APN settings are correct. I pulled the sim, and dialed, and it said the mobile network wasn't able. Put the sim back in and dialed, and it says MMI is invalid. :/
*EDIT*
I did try the Alternate APN and its doing the same thing. What I've noticed though is it keeps switching the little network icon from an H, to 3g, to H, to nothing.
Same
OK, I was having those EXACT problems on my GB build. I did a complete tear down to stock (yech) and suddenly I could see AT&T LTE again, and it wasn't switching from H+ to nothing and Edge..
So, I got sick of stock in about three minutes and decided to try ICS for a first time. Got the UCLD2 stuff and followed instructions (I know... booooring... LOL) and it actually worked. I am now on ICS with Smooth Ice and my transfer rates in Dallas are around 30-35mb (ok by me)...
QUESTION: Where can I find the CM9 rom for this setup? I was out of the loop for about two months and everything I knew is now wrong.. LOL
Thanks!
The alpha build is over in the dev forums. I'd go with SKYICS though.

Is this on HSPA+ or LTE? Maybe you got throttled.
I didn't get throttled. My Billing cycle had just started. It fixed itself when I went back to GB for a day. I read somewhere else to do the oneclick before flashing roms. So I did that, went back to skyics, and it worked again.

Make sure you are using the correct apn for the carrier you are on, and also check to see if LTE is toggled off.

I tried searching but could not find the 'right' APN as I am unsure what is right and wrong. All I know is that I am able to get HSPA+ but no LTE... Could you please advise? Also, in the network settings it is currently GSM/HSPA/LTE (to that variant).
Currently on the Rogers network.

Can you tell me which "baseband" you have installed? It is in the Settings, About, Software Information, More screen. I'm having the exact same issue (no LTE) on Rogers and have that exact same APN. I'm wondering if I flash a certain radio if it will fix it. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It might just be your area in KW.
I have the latest 2.41 radio from O2 but that should not matter as I previously had 1.94 (Rogers) radio as well.

Thanks for the info. We definitely do have LTE coverage here in the KW area. I ran the RUU to test it out and I indeed got LTE coverage. So far I'm stuck on HSPA if I run any custom ROM, but it is really not all that bad. Thanks again. Some day I will figure out how to unlock LRE on my phone!

You need to get the rogers APN for lte and put it in on your settings. I'm on fido and sometimes it takes a few minutes for it to connect to LTE. Here's the settings you can try

Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
If the above doesn't work try this:
Go into system tuner or ROM manager, backup then edit this build.prop:
ro.telephony.default_network
Change the number to 10 or 11 (that's what worked for me)
Save it and reboot.
Let me know if this works. I'm trying to get some momentum going on this as it seems to be a common problem in my area

[Q] No LTE after 3.18 RUU

Hi all,
I've been having trouble getting my LTE to work after updating to the 3.18 RUU and flashing CM10.1. I have tried multiple radios, even tried to go back to my old CM 10 with the stock (i believe) 2.20 radio, still not connecting to LTE.
I currently flashed the new Venom 4 sense 5, still LTE is not working. HSPA+ the internet works fine, however when 3G is connected I cannot seem to surf.
I am S-off, super CID, using TWRP 2.6.
I manually added the ltemobile.apn into each rom and still doesn't allow me to use LTE.
I'm on the Rogers network, in Toronto. Usually have fantastic LTE service (I work in the rogers building, the LTE tower is literally 100m away.
Not sure what else I can try other than calling in to tech support to get them to re register the SIM card.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so please respond or PM me, would really appreciate some help.
I am using the RC of CM10.1 as my daily driver, tried Venom 4.0 to see if LTE would work here. No luck on either.

APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work -- tried both
Fixed
0.20os.32.09.15_10.113.32.28L - baseband version
Fixed the issue, flashed this radio and seems to be working so far.
Type should typically be some of these:
default, hipri, supl, mms
I've always used "*" as the type, worked fine for any other rom I've run. And it seems to be working now, I assume i flashed the wrong radio and thats where things went south.
Does anyone know the best radio's to run with the new 10.1? When pulling radios from the radio thread, it has a CM section, are those still the ones required with CM roms?
Normally the radio version should not matter for things like getting LTE, of course you are seeing different
I believe CM went back to the normal way of doing the radio so use the Sense ones.
