[Q] Root with Binary Tools not working with xperia acro s - General Questions and Answers

Hello, guys. I'm a new member here.
I'm using Xperia Acro S with the official 4.1.2 firmware JB. I want to root it and I downloaded the Bin4ry Root Tool. But I got stuck at one step after the root asks me to confirm recovery. Left it for two hours and still nothing happened. I do hear that rooting does not take up long time (sometimes below 10 minutes). here is the screenshot.

Hey Bro, Check it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304994

{Guide} Rooting Galaxy R on version 4.0.4

This is how to root your Samsung Galaxy R running on ICS version 4.0.4
Step 1
Go over to http://androidsu.com/superuser/ and scroll down to ARM devices (2.0 – 4.1). Then you will see 3.2-RC2 under it is a link to the download, click it to start the download.
Step 2
Ounce you have downloaded it you want to put it onto the root of your SD card. You can do this by putting it onto your external SD card and copying it over to the root of your phone.
Step 3
Boot into CWMR. You can do this by shutting your phone down completely and ounce its shut off you hold down power and the volume Up button.
Step 4
After you boot into CWMR you want to install zip from SD card so hit the volume keys to move up and down and click install zip from SD card. Then you scroll down to where the Superuser zip file is and flash it.
Step 5
Finally, once you have flashed it you want to reboot your phone by going back to main menu and clicking reboot. Now your done!! Just wait for your phone to boot up and you have successfully rooted your phone!
How this is different from root recovery v4 posted earlier. Any difference between these two rooting methods ,please mention.
I rooted my mobile using this method... May be same but different file....

Hi Vikram,
Thanks for your post..
Just a small correction in Step#4.
In order to go to CWMR, we need to press power.. and then press volume_Up and Home button simultaneously... and not Volume_Down..
I was following your instructions to the T.. and was not at all getting into CWMR mode.. as i thought for a second.. the hot keys combinations have changed..

True, this would work on all Xperia phones (or atleast the 2012 series range).
But kinda think u should change the title a bit, as this is not ON .5.5, but practically before.
I like this method, it's cool that it works like this but still, hope there will be another methods soon, a simpler one, hopefully a one-click-root method when a new bug/glitch is found in the Xperia 2012 phones. Without having to (down/up)grade a few times to make it work.

Ugh... Ok. First post tells you that you'd have to downgrade ur phone to a lower firmware version, then root, then flash the newer version again without wiping the root... Please read the 1st post over again.
Or well, it doesn't tell you that litteraly, but yeah...

first, i need help here on how to root my miro 11.0.A.5.5 device.
second, thanks . because now i know that there's a process to downgrade your firmware.(which i ddnt know before)..
too complicated.. thought that the process would be easier just like how i root my phone when it was on a lower version.
third, i think i just have to wait longer for the updated version of Bin4ry that could root my miro.
last, if i takes long, then ill have to try and do this process of downgrading my firmware.
thanks.. keep on posting

If you want to flash a lower version of firmware, you'll need a few things:
- Flashtool
(I'm not sure of there are other Flashtools around, probably there are, but I use this one, works like a charm).
- An FTF file of the older stock firmware version. Please if someone here has a good ftf file, please post it, as I have no idea where you Miro guys posted them xD
- Patience and Understanding
Documentation on how to use the Flashtool is also in the topic where u should download it from.
As soon as you've got the older firmware version flashed on ur phone, u should follow the tut in this thread, but before you do ANY of this, I recommend you to find a way to backup all ur apps and data. Just in case.

[Q] Xperia tipo must update to 11.0.A.4.22 or not?

Guys My tipo now runs on 11.0.A.0.16 locked bootloader. I dont want to unlock the bootloader but still not updated to A.4.22.. Is 22 better or worse than 16 ? I need your sentences or offical logs of changes..
thank you
.22 is not rootable but if you root .16 then.upgrade with flashtool (not Sony upgrade) then there is a way you can keep root. If you don't care about root then.upgrade, I hear its smoother and more fixes, and has SMS counter.
Hit Thanks if I helped you!
thank you for information. root work on locked bootloader ? like arc neo etc series ?
Yes you don't need to unlock bootloader for rooting.
Hit Thanks if I helped you!
How can you keep the root when upgrading to A.4.22 with flashtool?

I'll try that, thanks a bunch, but any idea why the A.4.22 isnt listed on update center? I updated it to A.4.22 with PC Companion, then downgraded it to 0.14, and now can't update it past 0.16. And on official page it says latest version is 0.16 tho i remember i updated to 4.22 a couple of days ago o.0
@valee. No idea, I always use flashtool for upgrading.

EDIT2: Nvm didn't changed to MCS properly, so for those who want to use this method the USB Conectivity needs to be set to MCS for it to work.

Will try this. I am downloading it and will see what will happend. But.. i am very concerned right now, because JB 10 boot screen is just looping all the time. No progres, no change after one hour of animated arrow circling around number 10...no possibility to shut it down unless i take out the battery...
Will see, will see...
Well.. stil..i am not angry. I will learn something more about Xperia tipo... :good:
Well.. As Dzepar suggested (Thanks!) i used Flashtool.
Didn`t work first 15 minutes until i flashed "boot.img". And after that i flashed original Sony ROM 11.0.A.4.22 with Flashtool without any problem.
I am now back in saddle with my Tipo.

Try to put boot.img in the ziped rom just open with win rar or what youre using put it in there (you need to have META-INF folder, system folder and boot.img in the zip), than copy it to the sd card, flash the boot.img with flashtool enter in CWM Wipe device, instal zip from sdcard, flash gaaps and reboot. [Q] Help identifying root..

Hey guys,
I rooted my samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 nearly 2 years ago and I want to unroot it now but I'm unsure which procedure/program I used to do it in the first place. Is there somewhere in the CWM recovery or Superuser that I can find this out?
I have found a couple of different unroot procedures but I don't want to unroot with the wrong one and be left with a paper weight....
Cheers,
