Can someone tell me the reason why i need 10 posts to post in developer forum?
Greets
Probably because they don't want people creating accounts and spamming those forums right off the bat. Keeping the dev forums more focused on getting things working than general chat and I need help etc. Just my view on it.
I thought it's stupid too, but after I realised how stupid people can be, I think it's a good idea. Just answer for a few questions here and you will have the 10 really soon.
thanks for posting this question so I can add another post to sum up to 10 or more posts to finally be able to participate where I would like to Rhobuntu on HTC TP2.
So silly - now they move from Ubuntu to Debian squeeze which is what I have running on my computer and next week I should have an HTC TP2 available for development only. Just - I cannot post !
Oh and I forgot the 5 minutes rule...
Too bad there is no icon for i$$ed

Don't tell me that!!
I've been posting around Q&A to reach those 10 posts because I want to ask and help on dev forums... :-(
Well, almost there, let me see what topic I can participate and then, if I keep being "blocked" off-of the dev forums...
There are very good reasons why the 10 post rule has been set up, a couple of which have been said above.
Why do you need to post in the dev section anyway? Are you a developer? If you arent and you create a new thread (question) it will probably get moved here.
If you are asking a question, the Q&A is the place
#justsayin
is right to by like this
I meant NOT right
I have 10 posts, why I still cannot post in the dev forum? need to aks about my issue

Because your ten posts were not helpful, they were spammy. And if you have a question, ask it in Q&A NOT Development. How hard is that to understand?
well, the question concerns a curtain app, so I would like to ask in the dev forum , where this ALREADY HAVE BEEN discussed in a special thread.
You might find that some of us here are quite knowledgable and therefore your answer could be easily obtained here without the need to post in the dev forums
Why dont you give it a go and ask here ?
Also, if your question has already been asked, there is in all probability an answer there; so eed to re-post the same question?
I can understand the rule but not your argument. What if he has been using an app that has its own topic in the dev forum and he wants to post a bug report or ask a question that hasn't been asked before. If it's about that specific thing it should go in that specific thread.

yes, you have a valid point. However i was trying to put forward the notion that far too many people post in the dev sections without properly researching first, hence the requirement for the 10 post rule.
Of course the OP may have a very genuine bug to report, if this is the case then can the OP let me know if he still cant postin dev and ill look into it.

not 100% true. I mean, when you use a ROM sometimes you want to exchange ideas with other users, make questions and even report bugs / make suggestions. you may not be a developer but in some way, everyone can be a beta tester! it doesn't make sense to star opening Q&A for CyanogenMod7 if you have a proper place in Developers Forum... And that's why I had to answer 10 things around (useful answers!) to use that section of the forums...
by the way, i don't know if the posts have to be useful, but i had access immediately to the dev forums...
hi, i'm a new user from spain, i need 10 posts to write on developers forums, where is in that forum the noobs place! thanks
I think it's a good idea. Learn your way around before posting/rambling on a devs forum. Think before you Speak.
well guess the builder of this forum tried to keep people stay here longer...or what else?
Hi dudes and dudettes
Today, I have been appointed as the moderator for this forum.
Dont worry, I am not here to write a bible of rules for you.
Well, just 4
1 - Search before you post a new thread, a question, or a suggestion.
2 - Be tolerant towards other members. Don't forget you were a noob yourself.
3 - Donot take matters in your hands. PM me or another mod with the link to the post and why you think it should be reported.
4 - Use ENGLISH
And this intro-thread is the only ONE thread in the forum where you can discuss "Off Topic"
This site is a learn from everyone site. I have learnt a lot in the last 4 years I have been on it.
And last, not be any means the least... a little fun doesnt hurt anyone
Feel free to PM me at anytime with whatever you need or want or discuss or even a hello.
Cheers guys!
Prateek
This thread is for all normal members(junior members) and especially senior members.
I seldom post something unless I feel that it is necessary and is useful for others.
So, everyday I just come here and watch silently.
Today, I want to post all the problems I saw as I think you all should be aware of it.
As you all know especially senior members, anything not related to development should be post in the general section or in the particular discussion thread right?
While some members still wrongly post it in the dev thread.
When this happens, some senior members(I don't want to mention the name here) still replying to that thread saying that:
"XXX members, you are wrongly post in this thread, you should post in XXX section." or
"you know you are polluting the thread with some unrelated thing or etc." or
"do you know there is a discussion thread?

When you are posting this kind of thread, do you aware that your action is nothing different with the members who wrongly post in that particular thread?
You are still polluting the thread, you are still posting irrelevant things in the thread.
Why don't you just ignore it or just report it?
Next, I found that some members are quite stubborn, doesn't want to follow the rules and always cleverly "decorate" the ETA post so that it looks like not ETA post.
We are not fools, mod are not fools, no matter how you rephrase it, we still know.
1. how is the progress?
2. when will you release it?
3. any problem you faced? any news?
4. etc.
Click to collapse
This are all "categorized" as ETA post.
I'm sick of this kind of post where half of them post by the same member.
Next, I also found that some members always think "negatively" about something.
We can't control what you want to think but please don't affect other members with all your negativity?
Sometimes, things just might not go well as we predict but hope is better than despair.
So, don't post something "negative" especially you are not sure about it.
You don't want the devs to give up or abandon their works/efforts right?
Next, this is for junior member. If you want to ask something, please use search function provided in this forum.
Or, you can use google to search xda, eg. type in "forum xda i9003 battery life" to search for anything related on i9003 battery life in xda.
P.S. the bold text can be replace by anything you are looking for.
And before reporting some bugs, please check whether it has been reported by other members and report with sufficient helpful documents(logs/logcat/ways to replicate the issue).
Last, an advise to all members, if you are not helping the devs(reporting bugs/discuss coding related issue), please don't post anything in the devs thread.
Any other questions should be in general section or that particular discussion thread.
If you don't know what to post, just keep your mouse away from "new thread" and "post reply" buttons.
I know some ppl will always try to defend their action/behavior with any excuses "available", this thread is not asking your opinion or comment.
Just think in your head whether what I wrote here is correct or not.
PLEASE DON'T REPLY YOUR OPINIONS/COMMENTS.
FOR THOSE WHO THINK THIS THREAD IS HELPFUL, JUST CLICK THE "THANKS" BUTTON IS ENOUGH. KEEP THIS AS A GOOD CULTURE IN THIS FORUM.
I hope this thread can help the forum to be better.
Well put, stickied.
Hi,
i really want to post in dev forums because I want to give some feedback to the devs. Actually, that's the only reason I singed up here. I don't get it that new users are generally treated as stupid and aren't allowed to post there. And after 10 posts (topic unrelated) it is assumed that the user is worthy to give some feedback?!
So what should I do? Start a countdown in this thread from 9 to 1? I'm sorry I really don't have anything to contribute
Regards

It's been asked and answered like a million times. Rules are rules. U can't do anything about that. If you have any questions then ask in the q&a forum. If you wanna make those 10 posts, go to q&a, answer some questions, make useful posts. That's done so that people get used to the forum, learn basic stuff and not spam dev section with random posts.
life!
Will somebody Plz care to explain what is the Concept of being Eligible for Posting in Developers Thread only After posting 10 Posts:crying::crying:
I don't understand
For Example, If i have a doubt about a Rom and want to post in respective Thread, am not allowed to.. Am allowed to post only in General Q & A Section. It is very difficult to get Answer. Some People are kind enough to respond to PM, Otherwise it is hell of a Job to get an Answer.
What is the use of posting 10 posts which are not usefull only to get a Usefull Answer

I agree.....
It is to make sure that people don't post anything they want to as soon as the get an account. It is there in an effort to avoid new users from posting wrong threads and questions in the development section. If you want to read more go here
http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/xdas-10-post-rule/
You said that you have to post useless posts and other things to get to being able to ask questions in the dev threads. Well the 10 post rule was made so that you could contribute to the community in the q and a sections and so forth to get your 10 posts.

Thanks for Clarification. I still see people asking so stupid questions in dev's thread inspite of their coverage extensively in many thread, But they are allowed to post for only they have completed their quota of 10
And regarding contributing to community, I think am at Kindergarten level in a Hidh School
