[Q] Flashing New baseband on cm10.1 - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I was wondering on upgrading my baseband to v20(new one) for my lg p509. The question I have is can i upgrade the baseband while on cm10.1 that i got from rasheds rom?. I also read somewhere I have re flash froyo in order to upgrade the baseband. Is this true.

If you are already on cm10.1 and can make calls, you are already on new bb. If not on new bb, just flash the "old bb fix" and you are good to go.

I am on the old baseband v10 jellybean rom from rashed for p509 but was wondering on flashing the new v20 baseband while on it.

I remember the P509 never recd the gb official update & hence does not have the new baseband.
Rashed's roms for the P509 are made for the old bb.
You do not need the new bb and it is not available.

ROMs with BUILT IN BB fix

The new BB can be tricky at times, there are certain ROM's that have the fix built in, or ROM's that claim to be made specifically for the new BB...this is where the confusion comes in.
So here are the ROM's that i've seen that already have the new BB incorporated:
-EB Build 4 (you choose which BB to flash during installation)
-[ROM][GB 2.3.7][v21y] Miui.us 6-7-12
-MokeeOS R.282
-Owain's (Build 79 will have new BB support)
So are there any other ROM's that you do NOT need to flash the BB fix? The new CM7.2 RC3 has the new BB supported within the ROM, correct?
Some more obvious ROM's that support new baseband
Stock 2.3.4 v21y
Kwes1020 Rooted Stock 2.3.4 v21y
BuRom SLIGHTLY Modded Stock 2.3.4 v21y
All Cyanogenmod versions since 7.2.0 RC3
Possibly the CM Nightly just before the May 26 RC3 version
Anything else if you use Owain's baseband fix...
I have used lots of the Cyanogenmod Nightlies because they can be dirty flashed from one update to the next. I also Nandroid back to BuRom or Stock 2.3.4 sometimes to help my wife :highfive: when she gets confused about something on her stock G2x.

It supports the March 2012 and July 2011 BB...unless Ricardo has updated to include the BBs from our Canadian neighbors...and would solve their calling issues they're having...

I bricked my phone the other day running some CPU stability test within the Mokee 2.3.7 ROM I listed above, something happened and the phone turned off, couldn't get power to come on no matter what. Luckily ADB still worked and I was able to get it going again using the flash.bat fix that takes v21e and turns it into a flashable ROM through ADB.
Either way, when I booted up the phone, I had 2.3.3, but still had v21y March 2012 listed under the baseband. I believe everything is good to go, I haven't flashed the v21y.kdz because I don't know if I actually need to.
I'm running Mokee again and his ROM states the new BB fix is incorporated with the ROM, i have no issues with signal and phone call audio so I guess everything is the way it should be.
Some ROM's work with either baseband???
I think I understand what you are getting at...
Do some ROM's (which ones?) operate fine regardless of the baseband? That's something that is not always clear from looking at changelogs. I am usually pretty careful about reading a ROM's description in its OP. We do really need an organized listing of what ROMs work on each baseband...
As for Cyanogenmod, I believe that the RC3 from May 26 only supports the March 2012 baseband. I think I read on another thread that all the CM7 versions that followed RC3 are supposed to be backward compatible with the old baseband as well. I also think I read that EB lets you chose your baseband during the install (Aroma??). Could it be that Mokee detects the baseband and adjusts to allow your cell radio to work with either baseband ?
I am going to look into this stuff some more...

The first Mokee build (about 2 weeks ago) had different ROM's for different basebands. The following build, which was like 5 days ago, stated that there will only be one ROM, but will work with either baseband. Eagles Blood ICS Build 4 makes you choose which baseband during flashing.
Mokee is the only one i've seen so far that lets you use either baseband, and have no problems.
just to be clear on Eaglesblood, you arent choosing which baseband to install, you are choosing which baseband you want the rom to support. if you have the new BB then you will want the built in support from EB, otherwise you cant use your phone as a phone unless you apply Owains fix (which can be applied to ANY rom)
as for CM7 i think all of the builds since CM7.2-RC3 support the new BB. CM7.2 just went stable a couple of days ago so all new nightlies would be 7.3??
also like i said, you can apply Owains fix to any rom to get it to work with the new BB. if you are not sure the rom you installed will work with the new BB on your phone, just make a call. if it doesnt work, then apply Owains fix. if it does, then the rom likely supports the new BB or you are still on the old one
would anyone know which V21Y roms having working BT calling? i know CM does not, therefore, since many roms are based on CM, many roms dont have working bt calling. i know Kwes's, burom, and stock all work though since they are based on stock rom.

owains fix is to support the new baseband, nothing to do with bluetooth

need some quick help with this one

took both mine and my wifes g2x back to 2.3.4 stock. ran the updated baseband on both but for some reason her's still isn't making/receiving calls. also her baseband is showing jul 15 2011.
i did this to hers last night and didn't bother checking it. now shes on a 8 hour road trip with our 2 girls and has no phone.
i also tried the lg support tool but the phone has a jacked up charger port and would never connect to my computer.
If she has the July 2011 baseband try putting the 2.3.3 ROM on it or if she still has CWM installed flash this on her 2.3.4 ROM and see if it fixes it http://db.tt/abISGgzB

yeah clockwork is still on there. i'll have to wait till she gets to her sisters and shoot her the link and walk her through cwm.
i'll letcha know what happens.
thanks xbkkx
If she's still on the 2011 baseband then any cyanogenmod rom should work as well... her phone wont work because she has a v21e baseband and is running a v21y rom.
This has been the cause of alot of confusion on the forums the last couple months.
Hope it works out.

I'm not positive that is entirely correct, I haven't been around here much but last time I checked that latest CM nightlys only work with the latest 21y baseband.
she's on stock 2.3.4. lets not worry about custom roms cause there is no way im talking her through downloading and installing a rom
what i don't get is i used the same zip file to do both of ours. after doing the exact same thing on both i ran getril and mine passed but heres did not. mine is good with 21y and her's prompted for 21e.
is it just a simple fix of her d/l'ing 21y through getril?

Like I said before she needs a v21e based rom not a v21y based rom.
And no all new cm aren't only for the new baseband.
Just because its a custom rom doesn't mean its any more complex or unstable, in fact with this garbage device the custom roms are more stable than the stock ones as far as I'm concerned.

while true, i have yet to find one that has everything working that stock has. either mms doesn't work, gps has problems, video cam doesn't work, or this that or the other.
and again, same rom on my phone yet im running 21y. whys mine working?

no go with that one either
but here's the weird part. when she goes into "about phone" it has the july 2011 bb, but when she goes into getril its showing the march 2012 bb
She needs to go with the 21e then. Get ril is wrong, but she needs to go with what about phone states.

yeah 21e isn't working either.
this is about retarded that we are both on the same rom, but mine runs 21y fine and her's won't run 21y or 21e.
guess i'll have to have her install a rom to get up and running.
is there one out there that has gps, mms, and video all working with little to no extra files?

Youcan flash any ROM to your phone, just flash the baseband fix for the old baseband to get calls working, its floating around somewhere in the forums a little search can probably find it for you.
Hope this helped!

ok i can do that but i do believe there are phones out in this world that run on V21e baseband and i think people did put custom roms and kernels that run with V21e baseband ....
i just don't want to go through the trouble of fixing the baseband and then re-flashing ..... i just don' t have that type of time
so if there is a custom rom/kernel out there for V21e baseband then please give me the link .
but if there isn't any then i will either leave it like this because i can still do everything including making calls and more with this baseband
or i will flash the old baseband fix

Lol your last sentece is all you have to do
Just simply find whichever ROM you want to flash to your phone, it doesn't matter which one because even if it is for the v21y baseband, Owains BB fix will make it compatible with the old baseband, the Kernel has nothing to do with baseband compatability.
If you have anymore questions just PM me and ill help you out
Hope this helped

For V21e, the best ROM I have seen yet is Temasek's CM7.2 variant. No need for baseband fixes (it's based off the v21e), you might have to run GetRil to make sure the RIL matches the Baseband, but you'll be just fine. I'm using an older version of Temasek's ROM and loving it! (only reason why I haven't upgraded yet is because I'm lazy).
It's a final posting for the ROM (since my guess is he's waiting for the true ICS release to work on), but don't let that scare you. It's a COMPLETE GB2.3.7 ROM.

[Q] list of custom roms flashable in new and old baseband in lg p500

i am really confused which rom i can and cannot flash in the new and old baseband in my lg p500..... would be a great help if an expert would point me the way by listing them down.
--\o/--
Any rom before mik_os 6.5.8-old baseband, any rom afterwards is all new baseband...even if your on old baseband,v10 series. With the help of that old bb fix flying around, you'll be able to use a majority of the roms in both original development and android development threads....check the sticky threads because I think sweetnsour made a detailed thread on which rom works with which baseband....but still even if your on old baseband you can still use new baseband roms as long as you flash old bb fix...if your on new baseband,v20. I believe you have to revert back to v10 via LGDMP or KDZ..I wouldn't recommend kdz though,I've never used it

v20 series is for new bb.
currently i have a cm7 version on old bb fixed version. and it works fine .now i want to upgrade to ics ,so flashing new bb by lgdmp method is recommended.
some doubts: 1.do i have to do it everytime i flash a new rom?
2.how does the baseband work?
3.can i update to ics just by flashing the cm9 rom.
thanks in advance...

[Q] CM7 Nightly for G2x on old baseband

After months being away from my g2x, I'm back. A lot has been done with this device.
It's the latest nightly for p999 compatible for the older baseband? Is there a patch I could flash after?
Is it worth updating my baseband? I'm getting inconsistent data drops on CM7. I've done everything. I'm trying to find ROM that's stable for this device.

It should work fine, I believe on launch it detects which you have and uses it. New baseband is peetty good, though. Just note that if you upgrade to it and use a CM based rom you will have broken blue tooth.

Hmmm...
I'm presently using CM7 #225 (02232012) and v21e baseband. I need to upgrade to the v21y baseband (using GetRIL?) so I can get WiFi calling. And I suppose I should upgrade to the latest CM7 ROM. But what's this about breaking Bluetooth?
Can you please tell me what should I upgrade first, the baseband or the ROM? And how do I prevent breaking Bluetooth?
