need some quick help with this one - T-Mobile LG G2x

took both mine and my wifes g2x back to 2.3.4 stock. ran the updated baseband on both but for some reason her's still isn't making/receiving calls. also her baseband is showing jul 15 2011.
i did this to hers last night and didn't bother checking it. now shes on a 8 hour road trip with our 2 girls and has no phone.
i also tried the lg support tool but the phone has a jacked up charger port and would never connect to my computer.

If she has the July 2011 baseband try putting the 2.3.3 ROM on it or if she still has CWM installed flash this on her 2.3.4 ROM and see if it fixes it http://db.tt/abISGgzB

yeah clockwork is still on there. i'll have to wait till she gets to her sisters and shoot her the link and walk her through cwm.
i'll letcha know what happens.
thanks xbkkx

If she's still on the 2011 baseband then any cyanogenmod rom should work as well... her phone wont work because she has a v21e baseband and is running a v21y rom.
This has been the cause of alot of confusion on the forums the last couple months.
Hope it works out.

I'm not positive that is entirely correct, I haven't been around here much but last time I checked that latest CM nightlys only work with the latest 21y baseband.

she's on stock 2.3.4. lets not worry about custom roms cause there is no way im talking her through downloading and installing a rom
what i don't get is i used the same zip file to do both of ours. after doing the exact same thing on both i ran getril and mine passed but heres did not. mine is good with 21y and her's prompted for 21e.
is it just a simple fix of her d/l'ing 21y through getril?

Like I said before she needs a v21e based rom not a v21y based rom.
And no all new cm aren't only for the new baseband.
Just because its a custom rom doesn't mean its any more complex or unstable, in fact with this garbage device the custom roms are more stable than the stock ones as far as I'm concerned.

no go with that one either
but here's the weird part. when she goes into "about phone" it has the july 2011 bb, but when she goes into getril its showing the march 2012 bb

She needs to go with the 21e then. Get ril is wrong, but she needs to go with what about phone states.

yeah 21e isn't working either.
this is about retarded that we are both on the same rom, but mine runs 21y fine and her's won't run 21y or 21e.
guess i'll have to have her install a rom to get up and running.
is there one out there that has gps, mms, and video all working with little to no extra files?

[Q] Flashed new ROM, no call audio

I'm new at trying out different ROM's. I rooted my phone, installed CWM through NVflash.
Here's my issue: I've tried both Hellfire GB 2.1 and EaglesBlood ICS 4.0.4. First let me say they both seem to have done great jobs!
The problem I'm experiencing is with placing calls. I tried calling my voicemail and there is a LOT of static and I can only faintly hear the voicemail behind the static. I've tried this through the earpiece, speakerphone, and on a bluetooth headset.
I followed flashing instructions precisely: wipe wipe wipe (even with the Nullifier), install ROM zip, then gapp zip. Boot up and wait 10 minutes.
I backed up my original (T-mobile GB 2.3.4) and can restore to that with no problem making calls.
Help?
try reading a little more next time, the new baseband will not work with anything besides 2.3.4...2.3.4 rom will only be able to make calls on 2.3.4 roms... the only other way is to revert back to 2.3.3 (V21e)

Sorry I tried various search words, and I'm not sure what "baseband" is haha.
Am I understanding you right: I have to find an older Gingerbread ROM, flash that on my phone, and THEN I can flash to something newer like EaglesBlood 4.0.4?
My phone was GB 2.3.3 until about 2 weeks ago with the OTA update to 2.3.4.

No, once you get the official OTA update with the new March 2012 baseband (you can check which baseband you have in settings>about phone) you CANNOT flash any other custom ROM other than the official OTA update or a rom that is based of it because of compatability issues.
The only way that you can flash the Eaglesblood ROM or whivhever ROM you want is to downgrade down to the v21e ROM for the G2x if you search on XDA youll find some instructions on how to do so
Hope this hhelps clear up some things

Here's how to fix. Go to g2x developement, the thread how to unbrick. Then second post. Follow that.
But flash stock recovery first.
Be sure while the procedure is happening, just wait patiently

I've recently downgraded from ICS ROM Genesis Stable Build 1 after having some lagging issues and problems with call audio.
I just wiped and flashed CM7 HF Phoenix with Trinity T15 kernel, but I'm having similar problems that I had with the Genesis ROM. I updated to the newer baseband on Genesis to correct some call audio issues, but I'm now having the same problems after downgrading back to CM7.
I already tried GetRIL and have matched my baseband, but I'm still having the call audio problem. Do I have to revert back to stock and reflash or is there another solution?

I didn't test everything. I was mainly curious to see if the calling was clear. I didn't keep it on long as ics roms have sucky data for me.
As for video, I don't believe it works on any ics rom. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I don't really keep up with them because of the data issues.

Loud choppy/helicopter sound in-call

So I had an issue with my g2x and was sent a new one that I got Friday. I backed up my G2X that is rooted and run eaglesblood 2.8 with rom manager and than rooted and booted it up on the new. But than when making calls both me and the person on the other end here this loud choppy noise like a helicopter and we can't hear each other at all. So I got tmobile to send me another one out. I did the same thing and thought everything was fine made test calls and everything. I got away from the house and got a call and the nosie was back. I had the wife on in the house and now I'm back home and the phone works fine when its on WiFi. just when I use it on the network... thoughts?
Upgrade your baseband to 21y, or use and old ROM that's compatible with your current baseband (which is probably 21e).

It's more likely you're on the latest bandbase which is March 2012. That would explain the issue and not as previously suggested.
Search 21e and read up on reverting backwatds... pretty much use 2.3.4 stock modded roms or use cm7 rc3 and up for the baseband you're on now.

That's the latest which isn't compatible with most ROM's. You need to run stock or EB AOSP which don't have the issue or downgrade your bandbase and run whatever you want.

Guys I cant install the lg update tool. gets stuck around 10% then just stops. Im already having issues and I havent even gotten to the phone part lol help? tried rebooting laptop, running w7 64bit T420 8g RAM. I dont think its my laptop..
UPDATE: added screenshot of where setup gets stuck.
follow this thread. works like a charm. make a backup of your device first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
the steps in this thread will restore a stock gingerbread rom. when that is done, use nvflash and put the stock recovery back on as well
reboot your phone and do the update that way (over the air). look in About Phone under system settings and you will see a menu item at the top called software update (or something similar). use that to update your phone, you will end up with GB 2.3.4 and the new baseband
if you want to use a custom rom, eaglesblood build 4 has support for the new baseband built in or you can use CM7 RC3 or a currently nightly, or you can use either kwes or buru's roms, OR owain has a bb update zip that is supposed to work on any rom
good luck!

Try and get as many people to star that so perhaps the developers won't keep telling us it's "Hit or miss" and not a big issue.
I've had no luck with Bluetooth on new baseband but it works great on the stock 2.3.4 ROM from LG. Loaded with tons of bloatware to slow your phone down again.

i starred it and hope it gets fixed one way or the other and i agree, the new stock 2.3.4 works great and getting rid of bloat shouldn't be a problem however, just yesterday and today while running 2.3.4 my phone would just start getting really hot doing nothing but sitting in the holster, screen off, 4g off, BT off, wifi off, dont understand, but i put cm7 june 10 build on and now it doesnt do that
Yeah, I can run custom ROMs and all is well other than Bluetooth for call audio. My problem is I drive all day and have to use Bluetooth, so I'm stuck on stock
Hopefully it will get fixed.

Are you on the March 2012 baseband? That is when the Bluetooth problem appears. If on an earlier baseband then your comment is irrelevant.

Just tested it on the Mar-12 BB. BT still not working for call audio.
EDIT: actually the bluetooth bug filed with CM is correct.
Let's all star it for some activity though:

I have updated my phone to the Newest 20120701 rom
I was running RC1
I have now updated to 21y bb
I think I have the BT issue, my build number now says GINGERBREAD
and its not reading the phone # off the sim correctly? it has changed mine. No idea where its getting the # from,
No idea why..

Everyone with the new baseband with a rom other than v21y has the issue. The inly resolution so far is to downgrade to an earlier baseband, perferably oct 24th or july
Doh, seems I should have read a few more threads on this before doing the upgrade.
Honestly.. everything was work ok.. before I upgraded.. I do think call quality is better on the new BB.. but enough that I want BT gone.. no..
so I need a original upgrade or restore file with an earlier bb on it eh? I will check the dev section.. hopfully there is a thread with it.
Now, I could run the 2.3.4 with the BB and BT works? I could put CWR on it.. so I am still rooted... even run a Faux kernel I guess? I just wont have all the CM settings - correct?

I'm using the v21e (Jul 15, 2011) baseband. Guess I should stick with that?
