[Q] Unable to uninstall DeskBar Launcher - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello XDA,
So, I've had my TF700 for at least 6 months now, and I've experienced no problems so far! (Except for a fast draining battery and some slow applications.)
A few months ago, I installed DeskBar Launcher, and I really liked it, as I've been using my tablet more and more as an ultrabook instead. Soon after I bought the key for the app so I could use it past the 10 day limit.
However, today I wanted to uninstall it as I haven't been using it for a while anyway, but to my realization that I can't.
Apparently it have administrative controls or something, so I can't just uninstall it. After a bit of Google'ing I found out that I had to deactivate it first in the device manager.
I can't do that. It's empty.
When I enter the manager it simply says "No available device administrators".
So, what do I do here? I want to get rid of the application whilst I'm not using it. And this really pisses me off. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Kevin Østerkilde

Anyone? This is really bothersome and I haven't been able to find a solution yet.

So you are saying under Settings > Security > Device Administrators - there's nothing?
Have you tried clearing data and cache on the app and also the pro key?
Or uninstalling the pro key and then the app?
What exact message are you getting?

I successfully cleared the cache and deleted the pro key app.
Despite having uninstalled the key, I'm still not able to remove the actual application.
Here's screenshots of the app in the settings menu as well as the Device Administrators menu.
Edit:// I can't clear the cache past the 12KB's you see.
Sorry for the big images!

Also, here's a picture of the message I get if I try to deactivate the app via Google Play Store.

This is really strange.... and a quick search did not bring up any results either.
Are you rooted?
If not, consider rooting using the Motochopper tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258633
It's really easy, totally reversible and does not affect your warranty at all.
Once rooted, install Titanium Backup or Root Uninstaller, grant it root access and see if you can uninstall the app from TiBu.

It took longer than expected to get it to root. I tried 5-7 times where I just got stuck on the *daemon started successfully* message, but I eventually found out I needed to turn off USB Debugging, and then on again. Lol.
Downloading Root Uninstaller now. Going to try it in a bit.
Nope, no dice. It still tells me that the app is a device administrator, yet the Device Administration settings shows nothing. :/
Edit:// I figured it out! I could disable the app via Root Uninstaller and THEN uninstall it. That worked.
Thanks man, not only did you help me out big time, you also provided me with an easy way to root the tablet. God speed, friend.

Try resetting your wifi connection on your phone.

Only using 3G and already restarted...will try again..odd
I had this issue over the weekend. I tried several things from the internet.
1. Resetting my connection, airplane mode, etc.
2. Unmounting/remounting the internal SD card.
3. Clearing the Market Cache
The final thing that made it work was rebooting the phone. I don't know if any of those other things helped, but that was the final step.
Rebooting the phone should fix it.
Did it and nothing...I guess Im going to remove the battery too.
Not good...this happened after I had to boot twice as the phone got stuck during boot fir the first time ever and when I opened Market I had to accept the agreement but everything else was normal.
Op, are you completely stock?
And I'm assuming that by "nothing" you mean you have tried multiple apps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Nope I am not stock per se :
SuperRooter + lagfix ext2.3 + OCed 1.2Ghz
This just happened this morning after that odd issue rebooting the phone where it got stuck on the galaxy S image then on next boot I had to accept some agreement for the Market place.
Still no solution for this..

[APP] z4root - root android in one click from an app

Having trouble rooting your phone? This might be just for you!
Credits
z4ziggy
Sebastian Krahmer's rageagainstthecage
What this does
It is an app you install (currently you must side load it, but it will be on the market once it's had some testing here on XDA), that has a single button that will root your device. Should work on ALL Android devices -- please leave a note if it works or doesn't work on your device.
How safe is this?
Should be 100% safe - nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries, so if something goes wrong, simply rebooting the device should fix up any and all issues. Let me know if you find any bugs!

Changelog
V1.0.0 : Initial Release
V1.1.0 : Will now open the application settings page if USB debugging is not enabled.
New version 1.1.0 uploaded with detection for USB debugging not being enabled.
This looks really cool! But, is it just a shell root? Not a nand unlock?

It does not seem to work on my Archos 101 Internet tablet, it just reboots the device.
Edit: Busybox says it isn't rooted.
Will this do a Full root on X10 Mini Pro? just as this tool is suppose to do? Unfortunately that tool keeps looping even if I tap usb debugging for hours...
So Root and Shell Root and Superuser and allow non-market apps (thought that was just a normal setting in Android..)?
awesome app, I just did this on Sony x10, although I can't confirm that it installed busybox. I loaded it from the market and it didn't detect it.
Install on busybox 1.17.1 worked good
Thanks.
It started the process and rebooted, but hadn't installed Busybox, so downloaded it from the Market and it confirms the phone is actually rooted. Good start but far from perfect.
Does this work on the HTC Evo?

Worked great on my EVO.
Working on GSM HTC Hero 2.1 with original spanish Orange rom, AFAIK. The screen says "wait for root to complete and reboot your phone", stays there forever and after 1 hour I decided to go back. Rebooted manually and there it was, just downloaded Busybox from Market and working fine.
Its been the only working method for me, so saying thanks is actually less than needed.

Everything works perfect on my Droid 2, fast and easy one click root like it says.
Been waiting for something like this, so glad I did it.
Opens a whole new world of great rooted apps and
getting rid of that unnecessary bloatware.
Remember to first enable (turn on) usb debugging: Menu> Settings> Applications> Development> USB Debugging
Kudos! Thanks again to the Dev!
I tried Superoeclick yesterday only my X10 Mini (2.1 firmware), which tells me the phone is rooted, but still won't allow me to delete apps
just tried this and it ran, rebooted the phone as it should but when I try to remove some apps it still won't let me
forgot too add, it didn't install Busybox either
It worked flawlessly on galaxy s jm1,

I just lost root access?

So I downloaded RCMix's sense 3.5 rom and it was running pretty smooth until about 4 days later I downloaded the six axis controller demo app to see if I could hook up a PS3 controller to my Sensation 4G. When it asked for root access it force closed. At first I was like "whatever its probably the app". Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again and the same thing happened. Then I used titanium backup to start backing up my apps and it said that I didn't have root access, then it told me to restart the app and so I did. When I restarted it, it asked for root access, I clicked accept and it force closed. Then I started getting really worried; after a while it said that titanium backup was granted su. I successfully backed up all my apps before titanium backup crashed and told me I had no root. I switched to Android Revolution HD and wanted to see if I had solved the problem, turns out I completely have no root. I looked up the superuser app on the market and people are losing root due to the update. I'm worried as to how to get root back and switching to another rom just for the simple fact that my phone might brick itself if something goes wrong. Does anyone have an idea as to what I can do about it?

Hi,
It sounds like a common Super User problem.
Try updating super user to 3.0.6,then go into preferences and update SU binaries to 3.0.1.
This seems to have cleared up the problem for most people.

It still doesn't work!
Try going into settings -> Applications-> manage applications
Find superuser in the list and then choose uninstall updates (you also need to go into the app and disable automatic updating.
It worked for me so hopefully you will have some luck too!
They have just update the binary, that will help with those FC. Download the newest superuser, update the binary (settings>bottom), then delete data (Home>Settings>Programs>superuser>delete data)
Then it should work

Make sure you have debugging enabled on your phone.
Sorry I forgot to add the fact usb debugging is enabled.
EDIT: nevermind... re-read your post again.
For some reason sometimes you need to enable debugging before you plug it in.
How long does the rooting process take from where it says "PUSH FILES"? It just seems to sit there for a few mins on my end.
For me it took like 5 min I wan say maybe les, just make sure u guys read everything and don't skip any steps.
So does this work for the at&t? Has anyone tried it?

Your drivers aren't talking to adb. I had an issue yesterday, couldn't install the drivers to save my life. Installed SDK tools, still no go. Everytime I tried to root I got the same error as you.
Try this: Do all of the steps again.
This time, Kill the ADB process tree.
Now, hit the root file again. That may work. Some users are saying that adb won't work for them until they do this.
I've had similar problems on my atrix before. If I remember correctly, it seemed to help when I extracted root files to my desktop.

No cigar, was there 2 adb.exe processes running for you? At first one took me to htc sync so I uninstall sync. When I tried again killing one the other would just keep the CP open.

Pokemon Go no longer working after Android 8.0 Oreo OTA Firmware update

Hello,
I hope someone here is able to help me with this as I've searched Google for days now and haven't found anything that works. I have the S8+ (SM-G955W) and have been playing Pokemon Go since its release. After I received , downloaded and installed Android 8.0 update OTA however, this game no longer allows me to play it. When I open the game, I receive an error message "This device, OS, or software is not compatible with Pokemon Go". It worked perfectly before the Oreo update. This phone has never been modified in any way before; never rooted and uses stock firmware. It passes SafetyNet check with no problems.
Troubleshooting attempted:
I tried lowering my phone's resolution which allowed me to sign in successfully twice, but then the error persisted.
I uninstalled and re-installed the app countless times along with full reboots.
I attempted installing the game from the .apk file from apkmirrors however this does not fix the issue.
App is fully up to date, as is firmware.
It's strange because, as far as I can tell, many users play the game successfully on the S8+ as well as on Android 8.0. I can sign in successfully maybe once (if I'm lucky) after a fresh installation from the apk, but then after about 10 minutes, the app closes itself (App has to close error) then it gives me the Compatibility error once again following that. Please let me know what I can do, I am out of ideas.
Thank you

Hi vgplayer54,
I had the same problem with an Asus Zenfone2 with Android 5.0, This week I have changed my mobile phone to the new One Plus 6 and I'm still having the same issues. Did you solve the problem?
Thx
I found that the issue was app permissions were disabled for storage. Once enabled the app opens and functions correctly.
Apps -> Pokemon Go -> Permissions -> Storage ( if disabled enable)
Permissions for Camera, Contacts, Location, and Storage should all be enabled.
