[APP] z4root - root android in one click from an app - Android Apps and Games

Having trouble rooting your phone? This might be just for you!

What this does
It is an app you install (currently you must side load it, but it will be on the market once it's had some testing here on XDA), that has a single button that will root your device. Should work on ALL Android devices -- please leave a note if it works or doesn't work on your device.
How safe is this?
Should be 100% safe - nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries, so if something goes wrong, simply rebooting the device should fix up any and all issues. Let me know if you find any bugs!

V1.0.0 : Initial Release
V1.1.0 : Will now open the application settings page if USB debugging is not enabled.

New version 1.1.0 uploaded with detection for USB debugging not being enabled.

This looks really cool! But, is it just a shell root? Not a nand unlock?

It does not seem to work on my Archos 101 Internet tablet, it just reboots the device.
Edit: Busybox says it isn't rooted.

Will this do a Full root on X10 Mini Pro? just as this tool is suppose to do? Unfortunately that tool keeps looping even if I tap usb debugging for hours...
So Root and Shell Root and Superuser and allow non-market apps (thought that was just a normal setting in Android..)?

awesome app, I just did this on Sony x10, although I can't confirm that it installed busybox. I loaded it from the market and it didn't detect it.
Install on busybox 1.17.1 worked good

Thanks.
It started the process and rebooted, but hadn't installed Busybox, so downloaded it from the Market and it confirms the phone is actually rooted. Good start but far from perfect.

Does this work on the HTC Evo?

Any1 tried on the dinc???

Just use in unrevoked HTC devices are harder to root

Worked great on my EVO.

Working on GSM HTC Hero 2.1 with original spanish Orange rom, AFAIK. The screen says "wait for root to complete and reboot your phone", stays there forever and after 1 hour I decided to go back. Rebooted manually and there it was, just downloaded Busybox from Market and working fine.
Its been the only working method for me, so saying thanks is actually less than needed.

Everything works perfect on my Droid 2, fast and easy one click root like it says.
Been waiting for something like this, so glad I did it.
Opens a whole new world of great rooted apps and
getting rid of that unnecessary bloatware.
Remember to first enable (turn on) usb debugging: Menu> Settings> Applications> Development> USB Debugging
Kudos! Thanks again to the Dev!

I tried Superoeclick yesterday only my X10 Mini (2.1 firmware), which tells me the phone is rooted, but still won't allow me to delete apps
just tried this and it ran, rebooted the phone as it should but when I try to remove some apps it still won't let me
forgot too add, it didn't install Busybox either

It worked flawlessly on galaxy s jm1,
great app !

Works on DX! (Mine froze and required a reboot after the first try, but worked like a charm the 2nd go round)

Ah, interesting. Maybe I can find a workaround, but I guess turning on USB debugging isn't too difficult.
Thx! It's working ( but, the USB Debugging mode must be enabled ) at
PDA: i9000XXJPO ; PHONE: i9000XXJPP ; CSC: i9000OXAJPO ; !!!
will test on my girlfriends i5800 as soon as it´s back from service, its there for pin request issue...
First post updated with new version: will now detect when USB debugging is not enabled, and instruct you to enable it, as well as auto opening the settings page.
Good...........
Will this work in other versions like T-Mobile Vibrant? Thanks

It should work on most Android devices. Vibrant is almost an I9000, so 99% chance it will work fine.
Two quick questions:-
1. Does USB Debugging have to selected ALL the time or just to install?
2. For other Root files i.e. 'CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPO-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1' do they require USB Debugging to install or when in use?
How to Unroot back?

USB debugging is only required to root, once rooted you can turn it off again. This is because the root (rageagainstthecage) uses the 'ADB' or android debugging bridge/daemon to work it's magic.
CF-Root is a big step further than just USB debugging or rooting - CF-Root is replacing the OS kernel on your device. So it's not really the same thing, it's a lot more extreme. And it's much more difficult to install - it needs Odin after all.
This root is very similar to the 'SuperOneClick' root, but I personally did not like the PC requirement involved, so I made this.

Sorry.. I didn't even think about unrooting. The idea is a bit foreign to me.
That said, I will definitely have the app pick up if its rooted, and change the root button into an unroot button automagically in the next ver.

I just lost root access?

So I downloaded RCMix's sense 3.5 rom and it was running pretty smooth until about 4 days later I downloaded the six axis controller demo app to see if I could hook up a PS3 controller to my Sensation 4G. When it asked for root access it force closed. At first I was like "whatever its probably the app". Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again and the same thing happened. Then I used titanium backup to start backing up my apps and it said that I didn't have root access, then it told me to restart the app and so I did. When I restarted it, it asked for root access, I clicked accept and it force closed. Then I started getting really worried; after a while it said that titanium backup was granted su. I successfully backed up all my apps before titanium backup crashed and told me I had no root. I switched to Android Revolution HD and wanted to see if I had solved the problem, turns out I completely have no root. I looked up the superuser app on the market and people are losing root due to the update. I'm worried as to how to get root back and switching to another rom just for the simple fact that my phone might brick itself if something goes wrong. Does anyone have an idea as to what I can do about it?

Hi,
It sounds like a common Super User problem.
Try updating super user to 3.0.6,then go into preferences and update SU binaries to 3.0.1.
This seems to have cleared up the problem for most people.

It still doesn't work!
Try going into settings -> Applications-> manage applications
Find superuser in the list and then choose uninstall updates (you also need to go into the app and disable automatic updating.
It worked for me so hopefully you will have some luck too!
They have just update the binary, that will help with those FC. Download the newest superuser, update the binary (settings>bottom), then delete data (Home>Settings>Programs>superuser>delete data)
Then it should work

I've reinstalled the drivers, download the .zip again, reset my phone to factory. What else can I do?
EDIT: USB Debugging is enabled, I enabled it before plugging it in.
UPDATE: It's still not giving root access, I updated my sdk tools after this error still nothing

Make sure you have debugging enabled on your phone.
Sorry I forgot to add the fact usb debugging is enabled.
EDIT: nevermind... re-read your post again.
For some reason sometimes you need to enable debugging before you plug it in.
How long does the rooting process take from where it says "PUSH FILES"? It just seems to sit there for a few mins on my end.
For me it took like 5 min I wan say maybe les, just make sure u guys read everything and don't skip any steps.
So does this work for the at&t? Has anyone tried it?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Your drivers aren't talking to adb. I had an issue yesterday, couldn't install the drivers to save my life. Installed SDK tools, still no go. Everytime I tried to root I got the same error as you.
Try this: Do all of the steps again.
This time, Kill the ADB process tree.
Now, hit the root file again. That may work. Some users are saying that adb won't work for them until they do this.
I've had similar problems on my atrix before. If I remember correctly, it seemed to help when I extracted root files to my desktop.

No cigar, was there 2 adb.exe processes running for you? At first one took me to htc sync so I uninstall sync. When I tried again killing one the other would just keep the CP open.

Root with this software works
I can confirm this method. It works. Though i do not speak Chinese i could also install some kind of Google Play / Android market. Experimenting at the moment.

You can try.
Mainly poot allowed the root and superusers lets you give permission.
Im hoping this will allow roms to start being build and a chance of unlocking the nvm folder.

Recovery Image
Hey everyone I'm smartmanvartan... you can usually find me on AF. The N850 has just been released here in Canada with ICS! I don't want to buy this phone per-say but I have a N860 and they are very similar. this could help us Warp users finally get ICS and the same goes for you Fury users. Now I have a friend at Public Mobile(the carrier releasing the N850) that will let me grab a system dump from a new phone but I can't root it or flash recovery. But if someone can pull their stock recovery and post it up, I can make a CWM recovery or at the very least a adb enabled stock recovery and then BOOT into it without flashing it by using the fastboot boot command. Once I have a system dump and or a CWM recovery, I will post it up here as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might want to look into the mobile uncle apk.. its the go to app for china phones and since the v793 seems to be just that it may work for you. it is capable of rooting and flashing recovery... in the other thread for your phone, there is mention of a modified cwm from the zte blade. try getting the image in question and use the mobile uncle tool to flash it. the mobile uncle tool is available on google play...

Same here... i've been trying on a US model of the N850 and it always freezes.. I've been reading around and I found some people saying that it is ministro version 9.5 and up that doesn't play well with poot.. but even with an older version of the ministro app, i have had no success...
I have a US ZTE N850 that I couldn't root. Tried everything. I gave up on it for a few months, then I guess either poot or Ministro updated themselves. I got a warning from Google Play that poot was dangerous and I should uninstall. So naturally I ignored it and ran it and this time it worked. Ministro II v9.5 if that helps.
I'm still stuck with the gingerbread os, but having superuser makes it a lot
more usable device. If any of you had poot freeze on you before, I suggest you
update Ministro and poot and give it another go.
