[Q] Can't upgrade to CM10.1 RC5 - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi all, I'm having trouble upgrading from CM10.1-20130417-NIGHTLY-tf700t nightly to CM10.1 RC5. I tried a complete wipe and installing it both via the CM updater and Rom Manager and the installation goes fine but on reboot it hangs on the blue circle and then reboots again, looping forever.
I'm also unable to get from the ROM Manager (Premium v5.5.2.8) to recovery (6.0.3.1) -reboot to recovery just reboots, but I can get to recovery manually using Power + Vol button.
I also noticed I have multiple locations for clockworkmod backup/download folders in the SD Card, under root and under folder 0. What's this about?
Any advice on how I can solve this? Thanks.

I'm also having this problem using the RC5 update. Hangs on the blue circle and is stuck in a reboot loop. Trying to update to the latest nightly to see if this fixes it. If it does I will repost here shortly.
EDIT: Woot! Figured out what the problem was. The bootloader wasn't updated before installing CM10.1. Check this page for downloads and instructions on how to update the bootloader.

[Q] Problem booting into Recovery (ClockworkMod)

Please help this newbie out!... I recently rooted my Inspire 4G with attn1's hack kit. That went smooth without issue and I have tried a variety of custom ROMs thanks to this great community, but I have noticed a random issue with booting into ClockworkMod Recovery since... I installed Rom Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.6 and the problem is that sometimes I can boot into recovery and sometimes not. It only seems to work is the first time I reboot immediately after flashing ClockworkMod, then subsequent reboots the phone just boots normally. (I hold volumn down and press power.) I have also tried installing Amon's Recovery (supersonic 2.3) manually using Fastboot - it seems to install without error but when I try holding the down volume button and hitting power - phone just boots normally. So it seems I am stuck with a ClockworkMod install that does not really work with reliability.... I am lost now trying to figure out why this is happening.
Can someone that has seen similar issues provide some tips/suggestions?
TIA
-Reebo
I had the same problem... quit using version 3.0.0.6 and go back to the earliest version, 2.5.1.3 through All ClockworkMod Recoveries. Worked for me.

You don't have 'fast boot' enabled in settings/application? If so it will not really shut off completely and when you power it up with VOL- it will not work.
i'm also having issues getting cwm to work outside the black screen. i have tried sense/ no sense roms and none have been able to bring up cwm outside the blank screen. i am also running 3.0.0.6 or whatever it is but that has not helped my issue

[Q] Clockworkmod recovery not booting up
I have my phone rooted and ready to flash a custom ROM. I want to install android revolution 4g 4.0. I read that I need to ahve CWM version 3.0.0.6 to flash a 2.3 ROM. Anyways, when i select reboot into recovery in ROM Manager, my phone reboots and shows the HTC logo but then it fades to black screen and does nothing. If i press the power button, the phone reboots normally into the OS. Does anyone know how to fix this so i can install a custom ROM?
I have this exact same issue. Although i can load roms from choosing "Install from sd card" i cannot just boot into recovery and install it from there.
I just recently bought my inspire 4g a week ago.
Mine is 2 days old. Now i cant get it to boot up because it keeps trying to boot into CWM recovery but it cant. Its and endless loop.
Mine wont even load recovery. It reboots the phone but then just fades to a black screen. I cant get back into the OS

just press power button and it will reboot your phone.
still stuck doing that too. can get the phone to reboot. but stuck at htc screen or black cwm screen. also checked sd card and is corrupted. i was thinking if i could just flash a new rom over to fix boot issue. but i need some screens to blindly walk through to flash. cwm is 3.0.0.5 if that matters. thanks. on a side note. i think i have a new cm7rc2 build on a formated sd card to try and minimize the guess work on what to click

Please Help: Stuck since last 3 days, cannot install any rom

Phone: Rogers i896
I have been through Multiple stock Roms of 2.1, 2.2, 2.3
Lets take a simple example of 2.1 where I flash into CWM, install CM7 but I am stuck in install loop, all it does is tries to install, shows me flashing screen which is way too quick for me to read and but I have managed to read some lines and they probably say
E: Cannot find or Cannot update
No Such file or Directory
Like I said, since last 3 days - whatever I do I am stuck in that. I have tried formatting internal SD Card, tried to install from External SD Card but no go
Boot into cwm, factory reset, install from sd card. If you boot loop, repeat procedure again.

Sometimes you have to hold the recovery buttons down for a long while, at least 4 or 5 flashes of the i896 page. This worked for me a few times (Rogers i896). But the only thing I found that worked when I got stuck in boot loops was flashing stock Froyo with Heimdall. Can you boot into download mode?

That's good to hear. MIUI is a very good ROM and is based on CM7 so there should be no problem flashing CM7.1 from MIUI (I do it all the time). Go into ROM manager and flash CWM to 3.x before flashing CM though.
Sweet, that worked too. I now have CM7 - would it better to CWM and factory reset now? so everything is clean or not recommended and/or doesnt matter?
I have used MIUI - few drawbacks, some apps dont work + screenshot is not as simple as CM7

Did you do the wipes in CWM before you installed the zip? If so I wouldn't worry about it if not a reset doesn't hurt.
Copy Rom to sdcard.
Go to download mode (Vol- + Vol+ + USB plug PC)
Use odin and flash to stock JF6
Feed talon 1.2 --> CWM --> factory reset --> install zip file -> choose zip file --> new rom

Stuck in startup animation loop

I unlocked and rooted my tablet yesterday and everything appeared to be working fine. After using it for a couple hours and restarting it a few times it stopped working and is now locked in a boot loop. When I try boot the tablet it comes on and gets to the animation where the glint of light goes across the Asus logo but it does not finish and instead it stops there and I get the moving circles at the bottom. I've left it running there for several hours and it just hangs.
I've tried erasing the data and booting to linux but the same thing happens when I try either of those.
I've also tried flashing a number of different ROMs, but all that happens is it starts installing and then I get the Android guy on his side error screen.
I hadn't done anything to the ROM and was still running 10.6.1.14.4. I even downloaded that same ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266519 but I get the same error message when I try flash that ROM.
I would really, REALLY appreciate any ideas at all - and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

this gonna sound odd but i had exact same prob when i rooted and flashed chromix rom. it went. what i did was flash it once with the rom with secure wipe, then i flashed again. and it got stuck at optimizing apps, then i tried reflashing couldnt get it to boot, what i ended up doing was using clockwork mod to factory reset my tablet, then had to restart, and reflash, this time it actually got to main screen. dont let it discharge/reboot for awhile as im bout to post a issue im having with it. but thats what i did to make it work for me.

the thing i found showed me to installed the clockwork mod first before i did any flashing, i rooted device then i flashed once clockwork mod was installed, i had to root, then install rom manager and goo manager, from within there i installed the clockwork recovery script/mod then i proceeded to flash chromi-X DEODEX.
Did you flash the correct bootloader? I had the same problem, look for my posts in the last few pages of ChromiX.

Seems to me you installed Asus factory stock rom JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.14.4), which means you have the latest bootloader, then you unlocked and rooted your device, however, you never installed any custom recovery like TWRP or CWM (clockmod). Now your device is boot looping. You need to boot into stock recovery by turn off your device, hold volume down and power button until you see white text on the screen, now release both buttons, you should see 3 icons (RCK, Android and wipe data). NOW you are in fastboot mode. Let me know at least you can get that far, before we continue....

buhohitr -- You're exactly right. I can boot into stock recovery. When I select Android or wipe data it goes back to the animation screen and hangs up. When I select RCK it goes to the Android guy and says installing update but then it show him fallen over and the word Error. I've tried RCK with a memory card that has a number of different ROMs on it but the same thing keeps happening.

Give this a try, the factory Asus firmware zip file that you downloaded, unzip the file, you should see another zip file, rename this new zip file to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip" (without quotation), then copy it to the root of your sdcard then boot into stock recovery and execute the RCK again. Make sure you don't have any other zips laying around in the root of your sdcard.
You are truly a god among men.

THIS WORKED!!! Thanks so much. I was really worried I had bricked it.
So now one last question --- WHY did that work? Is there somewhere I could go to read up on this kind of stuff? I've tried surfing the XDA forum but there's a lot of stuff like this where someone gets there problem solved, but not much explaining why something worked so I can learn more about it.

Somehow the stock recovery was reinstalled on your tablet, thus letting this method work. It however does not on CWM or TWRP. All you did was manually reinstall a stock rom back onto your tablet. How it got the stock recovery is beyond me unless you flashed a stock ROM from CWM and didnt realize what you were installing.

Since the JB 4.2.1 upgrade, this is the most reliable method to install Asus full stock firmware. Also, since you're unlocked, let root the device by go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230763 download the tool and root it. Once rooted, I suggest that you should install TWRP custom recovery, by download Goomanager from the market, open the app and tab on the 3 little boxes on the top right hand corner, select "install recovery scripts" , this will shutdown your device and install custom TWRP recovery script, once this installed, you can download "rebooter" from the market and this app has many options, one of them is allowed you easily boot into custom recovery.

[Q] Blue screen after attempting CyanogenMod update from 10.1.3 to 10.2 daily

Hi,
After enjoying a successful CyanogenMod install of the stable 10.1.3 I tried to update it with the Dec. 1 daily. I had planned to use TWRP recorvery to install it manually but after downloading it to the phone with the CyanogenMod update utility, it offered to install it automatically so I foolishly trusted it. Now I have an HTC One S in either a boot loop or displaying a fuzzy blue screen. I cannot get to TWRP recovery regardless of what buttons I hold down. Can anyone help?

If you have this fuzzy blue screen, it means that you are on a wrong kernel. Since it's not possible to flash kernel through recovery when istalling the rom, you have to flash it manually.
So, boot into the bootloader and flash the correct kernel. Then it should work.
And how is it possible that you can't get to recovery? When you hold VOL down + POWER, you get to bootloader and from there you can access the recovery.
same here..

I can't evern get to bootload...
How is it possible that you can't get to bootloader? VOL down + Power should do it. Then, just navigate to bootloader and with USB connected to PC you can flash the kernel and there you go...
Thats what I thought too. But somehow, for the first day, no matter who tried it, bootloader wasn't possible. After trying several times I asked others, because there was no logical explanation to me, why it wouldn't work.
A day later, it worked, now I'm having some problems with the SD card, but I guess as soon as I have time this can be fixed too. Thanks for your help, though!
You're welcome

Please help!!!

I have a tf700 and when i bought it it was already unlocked and rooted running on a rom. i think omni but it was only kitkat. i wanted to update to omni lollipop but after install through twrp 3.0.2 it goes to the omni boot animation and then reboots. What did i do wrong. i cant restore from my backup either
ok i figured out the boot loader needed to be updated then reboot the system. i wasnt rebooting after the install of the bootloader. next problem is when i installed the bootloader it downgraded my twrp to 2.6.1 now i cant seem to update it. i have no experience with fast boot any help would be greatly appreciated.
Got it i found a video showing how to update using terminal emulator. installed the new 5.1.1 omnirom and it gets through the optimizing apps then blank black screen. i can hold down the power button and that menu pops up but theres nothing else
