Samsung Multimedia Dock 1080p 60fps - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

Just bought the official Samsung Multimedia Dock (EDD-S20EWE) and unfortunately it only outputs 720p 30fps and it is very sluggish .
Just noticed on Samsung's site there's another dock (EDD-S20JWEGSTA) and it says that it outputs 1080p (no info on fps).
Anyone knows the second dock works at 60fps ?
I also have the S4 MHL to HDMI adapter and it works at 1080p 60fps without issues, would really like to know if the dock works at 60fps 'cause I'll be using it to connect to a 1080p TV, keyboard, mouse and external HDD.
Thanks

I've just got 'EDD-S20EWEGSTD' and it outputs at 1080p @ 30hz. Don't know to check the the FPS though. The box is specifically branded for 'Note II' but still works with the S4. Manufacturer date on the box is 01/05/13.
Found a picture of the JWE box. They've renamed it to "Smart Dock for Galaxy Series" instead of "Multimedia Dock for Note II."

The newer JWE dock only outputs in 30hz as well.

Samsung really need to create an updated dock for the S4 which supports 1080p/60hz. This is why I still have not bought one.

Any updates on this? Has Samsung provided us with a dock that outputs 1080p/60fps?
And could also act as USB OTG at the same time?^
Any unofficial or Note III docks etc. that would work like this?

[Q] Sensation MHL/HDMI Cable Question

Does MHL have an inherent limitation of outputting at [email protected]? I have the cable for my HTC Sensation and that's what I get, just 24hz instead of 60hz that I thought. Also I realized the picture is not truly1080p. Sure the mode is 1080p on the tv but it's actually just the 960x540 native res of the phone's display that's upscaled to 1080. Anybody else have similar results or explanations?
I've had a similar result; all of my videos I play are upscaled to 1080p and to be honest the video doesn't look very good on my tv (you can see the upscaling by the big pixels). I'm using the Tmobile mhl adapter. I've seen youtube videos of the Galaxy S2 outputting 1080p movies through MHL. That looks like it is actually outputting real 1080p and not just being upscaled (but I'm not sure, its hard to tell from a youtube video). Does anyone else have input on this?
i know this is the sensation section however i have an evo 3d and it is pretty much the same internally. i too have this problem and i have a suspicion that it is due to the adapter. does anyone have the oem htc mhl adapter because my tvout is locked at 24fps probably due to my fake ebay mhl adapter. i dont want to spend $50 on a mhl adapter that may or may not be better than my current one.
I don't see how it would be able to not upscale the image?!
If it tried to use the full 1080p image then the resolution would need to change on the phone itself as well as the HDMI output.
Phil
i have a hdmi /mhl cable and it has came from mobilefun website and like other have mentioned i have different story because i use the mhl cable with my 24 inch led monitor which has a 1920*1080 res. but the trouble is that in setting it shows that it is outputting at 1280*[email protected] 60hz. i want toknow how can i make it work in 1920*1080 @60 hz.
another thing i want everyone to check is to type *#*#4636#*#* after connecting ur phone with your tv or monitor and check if your phone phone shows charging mode in ac or does it show usb charging
because in my case the problem is that it shows charging in usb mode and after a while of use i lose alot of battery and this is a problem because i have to take my phone and then i have to charge it normally also my phone gets very hot like nearly 50 degres.
please tell me ur experience with mhl cable with ur phone.

if said projector has an HDMI input (and you have the above mentioned adapter), I don't see why not.

Yes I know if the projector has an HDMI input it will be like attaching to HD TV, but Iam asking about how to connect to a projector with VGA port
get a vga to hdmi converter
One point to Note: You do need to connect the charger for the HDMI to work which can be a bummer
the whole GALAXY to NOTE about...counting down from 10 to 1.

So I get this right, the HDMI adapter needs to be powered externally for it to work?

I haven't tried it but maybe a pricey but elegant solution could be using the Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub (info is here).
No cables at all!
To use a VGA projector you'd again need an HDMI to VGA connector. But this time it would be attached to the hub, that is powered by itself by its cable.
This answer my original ancient question: "Is it possible to send the display signal to a projector through wifi?". And the answer is (apparently): "YES!"
I've seen a video where the hub was used to send to a TV set the images of a race game, while playing with it. No evident lag at all.
I wonder if there could be a similar device made by some third party (-> less expensive).

Here is the solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32039367&postcount=8, awesome, I really enjoy it to present wireless.
Just recently I had the projector with VGA cable but discovered that the projector had the second, HDMI port, so I quickly connected the AllShare cast dongle to HDMI and the projected screen quality was even better.

I just got my Allsharecast dongle in the mail today, and I must say LAG is this things middle name!
If you play any fast paced game it will either lag or become blurry to give smoother playback, Im not too happy this thing costed me $100, fedels like it should have costed $40

MHL adapter for One S stutters on video

Hi! This is my first post on xda-developers. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "question", bound for a Q&A...
I have an HTC One S (US, T-Mobile) for which I bought a cheap MHL adapter. The adapter plugs in to the phone's micro-USB port, has an HDMI out and requires you to plug the phone's charger into the adapter, providing charge to the phone. I'm pushing to an old monitor so the adapter's HDMI out goes through an HDMI to DVI adapter before reaching the display.
Everything is working fine except for video. It seems that no matter the video quality, the image constantly stutters. Neither the default video player nor MX Player (on H/W, H/W+, or S/W) will play more than a few seconds of video before locking up for several seconds, then only advancing a frame or two. There's no problem with video when not connected to the adapter. A fresh restart doesn't seem to help and I don't think I have any extra memory-hogging background apps (just the standard Sense and T-mobile apps).
Has anyone else had the same problem? My previous feature phone had a simple S-video out that let me show pictures and videos to my family while on holidays. Perplexing that I'm being outclassed by that old brick!
Thanks for any insights/advice!
No problems with my S and a MHL adapter (video is jerky cause it was recorded using a desire):
Skip to 1.53 for 1080P film playback
Give it a try on some other monitor/TV without the DVI adapter.
Also try BS player lite instead of MX player (although this most likely won't fix it as MX and stock should be perfectly fine)

Indeed, it works like a charm on a proper HD TV without the DVI adapter. Now I wonder if it's the adapter or the higher resolution of the monitor I'm plugging in to, and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to control the output resolution from the phone. Perhaps it's using the highest available or perhaps it has to do some non-native scaling of the video.
Thanks for your help!

What is the res. of the monitor? You should be able to find out what res. it is running at once the phone is plugged in (should be a wee info. box that pops up stating res., refresh rate etc.)
I think it could just be the DVI/HDMI adapter causing problems.
No problem

If it doesn't say that it supports the one S, then don't buy it. It could/should work even if the one S is not listed but I rather not take the risk.

Should work with AOSP ROMs as well.

miracast vs hdmi cable - picture quality?

hi folks,
i am looking for a solution for sending video to my LG TV from my i9505. miracast devices like the PTV3000 look appealing (no cables!), but is the image quality (smoothness of playback etc) as good as going mhl adapter and hdmi lead?
bump. anybody got any comments about picture quality with miracast vs hdmi cable?

Search in this forum there is already a thread with a video review about the ptv3000
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I have both and can speak directly about their performance differences. I'm using my s4 as a Citrix client for work, and via the miracast, smaller 12 point font is pixelated and unreadable. It looks like the actual resolution of the wireless adjusts between 960 and 720 lines of resolution, and never goes to actual 1080. There is also about a full second of delay to the video signal so doing anything interactive is a bust.
The wired adapter is an impressively clear full 1080p with very minimal lag, but the adapter is awkward and you must be plugged in. Even at that, unless you are using the factory charger or one that you can set to 2 amps, you will lose overall battery in this scenario, even with the device screen turned all the way down. You cannot turn it off and continue to run the hdmi display unless you are rooted, and I haven't had a chance to go there yet.

buji thanks for the feedback. Think I'll go for the mhl adaptor. I don't want to compromise picture quality.

It's a 5-pin or a 10-ping mhl cable? it has to be 10-pin for the tab s, and later phone models like Galaxy s3/4/5, Galaxy notes etc...
I ordered one last week and it's working fine, but the output is not 1080p... well it is per se, but the contents are not stretched to fill the whole 16:9 frame.
To display apps, photos, etc it might be OK, but when playing back videos which are 16:9 (like 720/1080p) it's annoying not being able to watch [email protected] frame. I only messed around 10/15 minutes, so I hope it can be forced/fixed somehow. Anyone?
I am using a ptv3000 wifi hdmi adapter, had same problem.
Used screen resolution changer (linking restriction... ) 'com.nomone.resolution_changer'
I set the res to 1750w x 3100h x 320 dpi
It messes up the notification pull down a bit but it did work just harder.
Use BS Player to fix the audio offset but think that is just a problem with the WiFi hdmi screen sharing.
