Youtube quality is really lacking. I've tried playing many HD YouTube videos, and the quality is rather fuzzy. I have the settings set to start in high quality. Not sure if there are other settings to improve this. Netflix is fine, and other videos. But YouTube is really lacking.
Anyone else have this? Or advice?
My videos play in HD and seem fine/ high quality. Try going into settings, clear you tube cache and data. Then reboot tablet. It might get things back on track and your HD videos playing properly/high quality.
Not all YouTube videos marked HD are high quality. Pull up some videos from LadyGagaVEVO as virtually all of those are high quality.
There is something clearly wrong with the Youtube app and this device. I am getting 14mbps down on wifi with my SGN10.1 and there is no way Youtube should have buffering issues at all.
I can set VEVO on high quality and it streams flawlessly.
So nothing wrong with our tablets. Its a software issue.

My YouTube plays great and that with a linksys e3200 that has been on the fritz lately. I don't see any buffering at all. Check your router though. It maybe channel bonding that maybe keeping your signal from being stable. Or try clearing the cache.
My prime was a different story with YouTube until doing some tweaking.

I heard also that alot of times you tube "app" doesn't play true HD. BUT going to YouTube website and watching the vids in HD will give you the real thing.
I also agree HD videos in vevo look stunning. As for buffering, I haven't came across that yet. All videos seem to play well once they start. As long as you have fast internet connection.
I've noticed this too. Definitely a fail on Android's part. I've owned an HTC Rezound and LG Nitro HD, both 720p HD screens with higher pixel densities than the iPhone 4/S/5's Retina Displays, yet the quality of YouTube videos is terrible.
On the aforemenioned iPhones, the picture is sharp, whereas on Android, it's pixelated and nasty. Reading text, viewing stored pictures/video, and browsing webpages in general is great, but YouTube blows. I'm very disappointed this has been such a long standing problem.

You're right though, viewing YouTube videos through the browser and "manually" selecting 720 or 1080p does give a sharper picture (like iPhone), but we shouldn't have to do that.

How did you get it to install? I disabled my youtube app, and it still wouldn't install. Did you use something like rom toolbox to uninstall it to get this one on?

I just installed normally and it went through. Keep in mind, I'm rooted and YouTube is NOT a system app on my phone. I believe there were troubleshooting instructions on that thread I linked.

Game pad remote, don't have touchpad abilities anymore. When I first powered on the NVidia Console the game remote had touchpad abilities but since the 1.1 update that is no longer the case. Is touchpad only works with certain applications? Has anyone else have this issue? Thanks for any help. Also can we have a dedicated forum for the NVidia Shield Android TV? PLEASE! Thank you.
Same here.. I had to hook up my wireless mouse to use some of the side loaded apps I installed. .

Also I run my hot spot on my phone to get online. The providers out here only have super low speed and crazy high ping service. And my unlimited sprint plan with a hacked hot spot gives me around 12mbs down and about 50 to 60 ping. So the problem I'm having is say for smaller apps like 20 to 40 mb apps it downloads fine. But when I try to download larger apps like badlands at 165mb or asphalt8 it just sits at waiting for network. Is anyone else having this problem? Any info or advice would be most helpful.

I guess we are the only two people to have this issue :/ OR perhaps we are the only two people that bought the NVidia Shield TV. YIKES! I have looked in a lot of place and I have found no answers or even mention of this issue with the game handset touch pad not working.

Yup just read that.. I think their reasoning is none of the apps for Android TV should have touch capabilities. So they removed the touch from the controller.. But like I said a wireless mouse works fine but kinda a PIA.. Also for plp having the same issue I was having about apps not downloading, just install the play store 5.6.8 it is for phones and tablets but it will not sit on waiting for network.. you will have to manually update as the auto update is borked..

Anyone know how they removed support? I read that the touchpad still works when paired to a PC so it's not hardware/firmware disabled. Could it be a simple edit in the keylayouts file (root required)?
Hey, I've recently bought a S7 and now I face audio issues. Whenever I watch a video, listen to music, or play games, the audio would usually cut out, and resume after a minute or so. I've never gotten this issue using the 3.5mm headphone jack. Do you guys think it's a hardware or software issue?
Thanks.
that never happened to me before, did you drop it hard someday ? if not, then get it replaced
There is a whole thread about this issue, just type s7 sound problem in search box, one user posted videos. I have the same problem, still don't know what's causing it.

Apparently it has something to do with some Google apps, I'm not too sure how to fix it though.

Hi,
I have the same problem with audio. It looks definitely as software problem. When the problem occurs i run Hardware diagnostic tests - *#0*# and run speaker test. After that test the speaker works fine.
For me it is something wrong with deep sleep or this doze feature.

Did you find that info online, or?
I tried contacting samsung, but they only said that i should bring the phone to closest service when the sound bug happens. The problem is that it can happen any time, and go away in the same manner -.-

I browsed around and found out that other devices suffer from these issues. Also, Samsung customer care told me to do a cache wipe and it still didn't fix the issue.
FIXED! After becoming angered with the device, I slapped the living hell out of it and there are no more issues! None whatsoever for about 1 month.
I also have the same problem, someone has solved?

I wouldn't recommend abusing your phone out of frustration (as noob924 claims to have done). Odds are greater that you'd damage it than that you'd find your issue resolved

i make an applications thats try to fix it temporary.

how it works?
This app simply request Audio Focus and then relase it again , so your Media Player (Youtube , Music , etc) can gain Sound again.

Want to try the abundance of new Android P features announced at I/O? If you have the right phone, you can try them today. Google is releasing a public Android P beta for 11 phones, including its own Pixel phones, the Essential Phone, Sony's Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2S and the upcoming OnePlus 6. Sorry, Samsung fans. You won't want to install this beta if you need a completely reliable phone, but Android P's features may be worth trying if you're willing to experiment.

Just announced. Anyone going to take the plunge? I did as soon as Oreo beta was available, some growing pains but overall was worth it.
Too many bad known issues for me to play with it...
What issues are they having so far? Will be nice to get updates quickly, like a Pixel, without the Pixel 2/XL price tag...
SIP appears to be borked...no IP SMS, VoLTE, Video Calling...
Yeah, it's not even worth considering for anything but a dev working on app development. Might be ok for a daily driver in a couple months...

Not sure then, but in any case, unless you want to ruin your phone, there is no point installing it... It's not even close to being ready... This is more like an Alpha version, than a Beta version...
Well flashing the ota now to see if I end up with wifi. That might have been something good to put in the release notes lol

So far:
-Notch settings have been removed, so no more immersive mode as of now
-Things are very very smooth, no glitchy animations or anything
-Have not run into any app issues in the few I've run
-Gestures are, ummm, strange? Going to take some getting used to for sure. in a way it is a whole new paradigm. After so many years using android, it feels really weird. I don't really like that if you try to swipe up your app drawer though the "current apps" view pops up behind it. Doesn't looks great and seems like a poor ui choice. I'm sure this will change though
Altogether, so far so good honestly. Seems like daily driver material for my usage

The same way earlier versions of essential phone software did, either a double size notification blind or blacked out
