Want to try the abundance of new Android P features announced at I/O? If you have the right phone, you can try them today. Google is releasing a public Android P beta for 11 phones, including its own Pixel phones, the Essential Phone, Sony's Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2S and the upcoming OnePlus 6. Sorry, Samsung fans. You won't want to install this beta if you need a completely reliable phone, but Android P's features may be worth trying if you're willing to experiment.

Just announced. Anyone going to take the plunge? I did as soon as Oreo beta was available, some growing pains but overall was worth it.
Too many bad known issues for me to play with it...
What issues are they having so far? Will be nice to get updates quickly, like a Pixel, without the Pixel 2/XL price tag...
SIP appears to be borked...no IP SMS, VoLTE, Video Calling...
Yeah, it's not even worth considering for anything but a dev working on app development. Might be ok for a daily driver in a couple months...
looks like they removed the link already, after I flashed it of course. I don't have wifi currently

I'll wait for another release that's good enough to be a daily driver.

Not sure then, but in any case, unless you want to ruin your phone, there is no point installing it... It's not even close to being ready... This is more like an Alpha version, than a Beta version...
Well flashing the ota now to see if I end up with wifi. That might have been something good to put in the release notes lol

So far:
-Notch settings have been removed, so no more immersive mode as of now
-Things are very very smooth, no glitchy animations or anything
-Have not run into any app issues in the few I've run
-Gestures are, ummm, strange? Going to take some getting used to for sure. in a way it is a whole new paradigm. After so many years using android, it feels really weird. I don't really like that if you try to swipe up your app drawer though the "current apps" view pops up behind it. Doesn't looks great and seems like a poor ui choice. I'm sure this will change though
Altogether, so far so good honestly. Seems like daily driver material for my usage

ITs what Google decided that 7 inch tablets should look like in JB.
TO change it , u must use a hack. There are some floating around.

So on my old Toshiba Thrive 10.1, anytime I ran an app that wasn't optimized for the large screen, it asked me if I wanted to stretch to fit or something to that effect. Probably a Gingerbread thing?
On my TF700 I've been trying to play Avadon: The Black Fortress again, but no matter what the screen is like 60% what it should be.
Obviously with a 1920 x 1080 screen it's just not stretching it from the game's native 1024 x 768 size, but why won't it stretch?
What can I do to make it work out?
Thanks much!

I've not come across anything that doesn't stretch to compatibility mode yet? I'll see if I can try that game out.
EDIT: Ah not at £6.18 I won't!
EDITx2 : Found the demo
---------- Post added at 10:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 PM ----------
OK this is a poorly written app. It forces a resolution and doesn't use the Google api to stretch it. Uninstalling sorry but you'll have to ask the app dev to make it properly compatible.

Ha well thanks for trying! I e-mailed the dev and they didn't seem to understand... So just tried again.... I also tried decompiling and changing some things... But don't know enough for that!

It's works every time for me. Maybe take it to carrier and show them and they will give you a new one. Should happen almost instantaneously even with screen off.

Could try a factory reset first too. Probably what carrier would make sure you have tried before swapping it.

The issue seems to come and go so I have a feeling it's isolated to either a specific app or some other process running in the background. Plus, I originally purchased a 32GB and returned it for a 64. Definitely don't want to re-install all apps and logins again, unless if I had to of course.
Hey, I've recently bought a S7 and now I face audio issues. Whenever I watch a video, listen to music, or play games, the audio would usually cut out, and resume after a minute or so. I've never gotten this issue using the 3.5mm headphone jack. Do you guys think it's a hardware or software issue?
Thanks.
that never happened to me before, did you drop it hard someday ? if not, then get it replaced
There is a whole thread about this issue, just type s7 sound problem in search box, one user posted videos. I have the same problem, still don't know what's causing it.

Apparently it has something to do with some Google apps, I'm not too sure how to fix it though.

I did dunk it in water a few times.
Hi,
I have the same problem with audio. It looks definitely as software problem. When the problem occurs i run Hardware diagnostic tests - *#0*# and run speaker test. After that test the speaker works fine.
For me it is something wrong with deep sleep or this doze feature.
Regards

Did you find that info online, or?
I tried contacting samsung, but they only said that i should bring the phone to closest service when the sound bug happens. The problem is that it can happen any time, and go away in the same manner -.-

I browsed around and found out that other devices suffer from these issues. Also, Samsung customer care told me to do a cache wipe and it still didn't fix the issue.
FIXED! After becoming angered with the device, I slapped the living hell out of it and there are no more issues! None whatsoever for about 1 month.
I also have the same problem, someone has solved?

I wouldn't recommend abusing your phone out of frustration (as noob924 claims to have done). Odds are greater that you'd damage it than that you'd find your issue resolved
Here's the link to the other threat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/galaxy-s7-g930f-sound-bug-t3465598
(for expectation management: no solution listed there yet...)

Hardware problem......
i make an applications thats try to fix it temporary.
download : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wendyliga.s7soundfix
how it works?
This app simply request Audio Focus and then relase it again , so your Media Player (Youtube , Music , etc) can gain Sound again.
Good Day everyone,
I have a problem, Google maps doesn't work within any other app that uses it. I've tried 4 different apps and all have missing maps. I have not modded or rooted my phone.
Here are screenshots of what I'm talking about. The apps are Samsung's own S-Health, Uber, Trulia & Zillow.
Any help is appreciated.

There was Google Map update. Did this fix your problem ?
If not try to update manually from here : http://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=google+maps
I was hoping it would but still did not. I don't know what's going on with this. My wife also has the S8 but her app are all working well.
I may have to do what I have most--wiping and starting over.

I'm sorry. I think this is your only way.

I have Samsung S6 and after upgrading to Android 7 same problem.
YSHI in another forum found a solution: Try to reduce Display Size/Display scaling setting. Set it to normal scaling so all the maps start to appear in all the apps.
This helped me in some apps. Some still do not work properly.
Thanks
