[Q] Cannot send photo messages! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have had my Samsung Galaxy S3 for about 2 weeks now. The past 3 or 4 days I have not been able to send photo messages. I can send and receive regular text messages and I can receive photo messages, but the ability to send photo messages is gone. I have been trying to send a photo to my parents from my daughter's birthday party for over 25 minutes with it "sending" the whole time. As I am typing this, the phone just told me that my photo message "failed". How can I fix this?
Thanks!
Abbie

Sending an mms message is completely linked to your data connection and size of your photo. My phone has a hard time sending maximum dpi images over a 3g connection sometimes. I usually get a stronger 4g signal in certain spots wherever I am. If I'm really trying to force a picture to transfer and the signal isn't strong enough, I walk around until I find a 4g signal.
Your photo message will always fail if it times out during the transfer.

Thanks so much! I'll keep my eye out for my 4g. I appreciate it!

[Q] SMS Scrambling?

Hi everyone,
I need some help and I'm just hoping someone on here experienced this before and found a fix. When sending long SMS messages the recipient sometimes receives the message jumbled/garbled/mixed up with another old text that has been sent to them weeks or months ago. So it usually has the first half of the message I send them as the correct text, and then the second half is "pasted in randomly" from an old message.
Hope that makes sense. I have T-Mobile service and I'm using a t999 variant of the galaxy s3 rooted and running a stock ROM.
It still happens even after deleting all my messages. It happens on both the stock messaging app and gosms, so it's not an app specific issue. It also happened before I rooted my phone and after. This same thing even happened on my previous phone, the HTC G2. Also, sometimes the old messages were sent on a previous handset (the G2) & with a previous SIM (same number but got a new microSIM with the S3), so no idea where it had got the old message text from.
Any ideas why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it? My current fix is using gosms and having it split up the messages every 160 characters so it doesn't have the chance to happen. Otherwise if I'm not using gosms I have to stop on my own and start a new text when I run out of characters. It works but gets very annoying.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Multimedia messages

Hey guys, I have a quick ? that I am hoping someone may have a thought or two about. My wifes little sght959v running GB 2.3.6 has issues receiving mm texts. She constantly receive texts from friend but she cant see them or open them up. It just shows a bunch of info and says "searching". Any thoughts as to what this may be or how I can remedy this. All normal texts are good. Just no mm's or picture texts. Thanks in advance. Happy Holidays to all!
What carrier are you using? Do you have the APN information set up properly?
Does it happen when data is going over the carrier's network? Over WiFi? Both?
A screenshot would help, as the specific symptoms don't sound at all familiar.

She's on T-MO, no data, no wifi etc. She receives regular texts just not multimedia/picture messages. I'll work on putting up a screenie.
Mms only works if you have data turned on. If it's not on when she received the pic it's hard to get back. I've had that problem before.

Thank you. Does that apply even if she does not have a data plan???
Yes. No data means no mms.
My wife had a similar problem when I had her on GB. She saves every dam text. It was like the first one to overloaded the system caused every picture text after to be missed.
I called tmobile, ended up doing a factory reset. After that, she hated the phone so much for losing all those "important" text, I had to buy her a "new" phone. But, she had over 400 text saved. Yes, she's blonde..

I think I may be married to her sister. hahaha Thanks guys!
You need some kind of data to get MMS -- basically an MMS is an SMS with a link that tells the phone where to get the content. If you can't get to that link (it's like a private server), you get that dreaded "Downloading" indication that never goes away. I'm not certain if you can get MMS when you only have WiFi. It wouldn't surprise me if you need the carrier's data to get to their MMS server. There doesn't have to be a picture involved; it could just be straight text from an iPhone that it sent as an MMS.
I'm not sure that the number of messages you have on the phone should matter a lot. I've got well over 5,000 on mine. It does mean that certain people's threads take a while to open up, and it does consume around 25 MB on my phone to store them all.

Def believe the IPhone thing. (most people around her have them) I will say though, that I turned data on (without data plan) and all of a sudden she starts receiving back dated stuff. Like 20 in 5 minutes. Going to leave it on and see what happens as I only had it off to save battery.

Texting problems

My one m8 is not rooted or modded in any way and I am having texting troubles. It doesn't matter what app I am in, sms texts take about two minutes to send and I sometimes receive duplicate texts from whoever I am texting. I have 4g with three bars and I dont know what the problem is. I can temporarily fix it by restarting my phone but after a couple minutes it goes back to normal. I have tried using hangouts, the htc default messaging app and verizon message and they all have the same problem.

idk how but you managed to post this in the Verizon Galaxy SIII section. I'll see about getting a mod to move this for you to the M8 section.

Receiving text messages late

Starting two days ago I'm receiving text messages late. For example, let's say it's 12:30. I'll get a text and the time indicator will say 11:59 or something, which would usually be the time I'd receive the text. I'd send a text to that person at say 11:57 and thirty minutes later I'd get their text from two minutes after I sent mine. I hope it's a sprint thing it my area. However if I update my PRL the texts come right after I update it. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Sometimes it takes forever for my texts to send.
Probably a problem with the Sprint network due to maintenance, outage, or something else. This happened to me a couple times last week but things went back to normal after a day or two.

First i would try going to your settings and scroll all the way down until you see system update. Update profile and prl and that should fix the issue. Another way of doing this same update is by going to your dial pad and key in ##update#
I downloaded messenger By : Google on the Google Play store. It seemed to help out a lot more.

MMS issues using Google Messages on WiFi

Anyone else not able to send MMS messages or gifs when connected to WiFi using Google Messages?
I've been using Google Messages and Gboard forever on everyone I've owned but with the S8+, while connected to WiFi, messages just hang. Sent messages always say "sending" and messages sent to me show constantly as downloading. It's not until I toggle WiFi off that the messages come through.

Yea noticed this as well. Had to stick with stock messages.

Totally sucks. I spoke with at&t and they said they have communicated with their Samsung rep and it's a known issue.

I had a weird issue with Google Messages, when I'd send a screenshot to someone, they said it was perfectly clear. However when I was in the messages thread and clicked on the screenshot it came up very blurry. (Sprint version) The original screenshot in Gallery looked fine and it did on the device receiving the message. Kinda strange.
I use signal and haven't had any issues. You sure it's not google related?
I can't send or receive mms while on WiFi calling. Stock message app or Google s message app. Got a ticket in with t-mobile now. I've gone back to factory twice still not working.
I also have this issue. I can confirm as told by an AT&T rep on the phone that it's a known issue apparently . I was told they were looking into it, but no idea when an actual solution is coming.
Glad I'm not the only one.
Yea , all of us are in the same point. It's an issue with the phone not properly handing off the connection from WiFi to data in order to send the MMS message while you're connected to WiFi. We're all hearing from our carriers it's being investigated so let's hope a patch is due sometime soon?
