Have the charging pad just want the back. Have my 50% coupon ready for the Samsung site but no way to buy it. Hopefully soon! Was thinking about getting the little insert but I use NFC daily.
Hi to all! Bought one kit yesterday. It's a great invention but, once again, the "engineers" managed to somehow design, computer assisted , the thickest heaviest cover ever!!
My S Charging Cover lasted about 2 hours and now, I've surgically extracted the important stuff. The insert will be inlaid into the S View Cover that can be machined with a micromotor. This cover is thick enough to get the inlay.

Question! Do you have any cases at all that work with the wireless charging cover? What are they, if so?
I'm using a Cruzerlite TPU case and the Metrans wireless charging insert. NFC and wireless charging are working together, if that helps. At least with my NFC tags. I haven't tried it with an NFC payment machine yet.

Interesting, My NFC did not work with the Metrans insert. I even took the back cover off and actually touched the tag to the battery and still nada. If I shifted the tag to the left as far as it would go and still make electrical contact, the NFC would work, but then it actually was past the edge of the phone. I thought about trimming it down, but the leads from the IC to the contacts run on that side of the insert really close to the edge so I would have cut them.
For now, I am waiting for two more tags...and the note 2 NFC antenna. I will get a combo working. And if not, I may just get the Sammy one and go caseless. Maybe someone will at least make a bumper or something someday.
Its really a shame its not built in....one of the phones big weaknesses in terms of hardware.

as you can see, just between the PCB and the induction coil, there is a rest of the NFC extra antenna that I've cut. the NFC wires overlap those from the induction coil. it seems samsung guys supplemented the NFC antenna from the battery, in this charging cover. I can assure you NFC is still working with the original battery included antenna and the insert in the photo..

no need for tpu casing once I will mount the charging insert in this picture https://www.dropbox.com/s/cnavxyi7tgcn0c6/2013-06-08 06.22.55-2.jpg
into a micromotor drilled S View Cover. this cover's material is thick enough (compared to the original s4 battery cover) to be carved and married with the induction insert existing in the s charging cover.

Saw it on The Verge. I'm wondering if the magnets will be able to hold it up with a bumper on. The image shows that the diameter of the orb is larger than the width of the phone meaning a bumper would stop it from touching the base of the orb... meaning the magnets might not be as strong. I would much rather wait for a video review of peoples experience.
There are two other thread with the same information.

I'm thinking you might need to take off the case for the magnets to latch onto the phone though. I'm worried even with the OEM bumper the phone won't sit properly.

I really hope the magnets will still work when using a case
I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that the magnets will still work with the thin TPU cases out there. Reason being, the Nexus 4, when nude, is as slick as greased moose poo and is going to require a fair amount of magnetic pull to keep it from sliding off of the Orb. The TPU cases will probably lessen the pull, but will instead add additional friction, so I'm guessing they'll cancel each other out.
Pure speculation, but that's how I'm rationalizing buying one

I assume they made the OEM bumper the way it is (thin as heck with very little lip) so that it would work with the OEM wireless charger. Only makes sense, but I wouldn't put it past Google/LG to mess this up.
What is the Battery status app being displayed? maybe it comes up when connected to charger 0_o

I laughed at the moose poo! It really does try to slowly sneak towards and edge if you leave it on a glass table or tiled area. I've had a few near drops.
Does anyone else question the usefulness of wireless charging? I think it's quite cool and all that, but it's hardly like plugging in a micro usb cord is especially time consuming. Does anybody know if it charges faster than micro usb? This may be a silly question, but can you charge the phone using both the usb and charging org, in order to charge it quicker?

...to my 3D printed dock.
Slide coil in, PCB is held with double sided tape. Pretty straightforward.
A bit of PCB is trimmed off to make space for the connector. I did cut off the speaker, it's too loud for me.
Messy inside but hey, you can't see them!
Result:
And the back:
I have my SKP (Google SketchUp) files attached below, feel free to use or modify!
If you're actually going to send these files in for printing, make sure you double check all measurements!
-----EDIT-----
It appears that some of you may be interested in making one. I just made this model public at Shapeways http://shpws.me/oi3O.
This is designed to fit parts from "GMYLE (TM) Wireless Charging Pad Powermat Mat Charger". Other models may not fit and you'll have to modify.
You can download the model and make the walls thinner, engrave some text/logo, etc. The less material the cheaper it is.
Putting it together is very straightforward once you have the parts in your hand and use the the pics above as references.
...BEAUTIFUL. The routing hole for the speaker is also really well-done and subtle. Is there a cover for the bottom to protect the PCB? I'd be slightly worried about the exposed copper from the cut, unless there isn't any.
Wow...that's amazing. Far better than anything else I've seen.

Very nice, you should sell the empty dock along with instructions of how to transfer the innards, that way I think you'd be safe from copyright infringement cos you're actually encouraging people to buy the other product and not copying any of the manufacturing process.
How is the coil held in place?

Hey thanks, I did not make a cover, 3D printing gets expensive real quick
It's sitting on a wooden nightstand so I'm not too worried about anything shorting out.
If i ever need to place this on some metallic surface the plan is to stick a transparency sheet below with some double sided tape on the edge, this should do the job.

I was gonna get it in black but for some reason black cost more, so I thought forget it.
You are free to send the files to any shop; I did it at shapeways:
http://www.shapeways.com/model/1146133/nexus-4-qi-charging-dock.html
This is the first time I have a model printed in that material, wasn't sure about its strength so the I made walls quite thick.
With some modification to the model the cost could go down to $40 something.

s drive is a kind of like siri that acts to read out directions or messages or phone calls while activated for the galaxy. also if the map is needed you might need to take off the front. but the case does fold slim except for the latch. I would suspect most car holders would be able to handle it

In another thread a guy who owns this case said he has to take it out prior to putting the phone in the car holders, which sucks. Another user says he uses those car holders that have like a glue that dosent leave traces, do you know what I am talking about? He says he just sticks it there, but I dont have much confidence on those car holders...imagine if the phone falls from the holder and the screen breaks!
I use iMagnet dock. My dock is close to the dashboard of the car so when I leave the cover open, it's not flapping around.
Anyone know if the Genuine Samsung Car Holder will work with this case, with the front cover opened?

This original samsung car holder looks pretty solid but from the pictures it dosent look it has depth enough to hold the S4 with the Spigen Slim Armor View...
Does anyone uses this case with a car holder for in car GPS navigation ?

Thanks for that info. But I was on their site and I only see mounts for the S4 when using the Spigen Slim Armor case, not the VIEW version. Am I missing something? The objective was using the GPS on the phone with the front cover opened to the back, so we could see the maps.
Maybe it will work with those universal car holders, the ones with claws. Or the ones with that kind of glue where we simply stick the phone... anyone has tried that yet?

At the moment, cannibalizing the circle case for its PMA reciever is the only way to get wireless charging onto the stock back. Then you can use whatever case you'd like and have wireless charging.

At the moment, cannibalizing the circle case for its PMA reciever is the only way to get wireless charging onto the stock back. Then you can use whatever case you'd like and have wireless charging.

Seems to me it wouldn't be hard to change those contacts, they just need a space in the middle of the four.

Where can we find a slim coil sticker with the correct spacing? that would be the first step for a retro fit

I have one on order already, but I suspect it is Qi compatible and not powermat compatible. I guess I will find out soon enough. The good news is that my wife has a Verizon G3, so either way I will be able to use it.

Please report back your findings. I purchased the official LG circle back from att yesterday and it does NOT have contacts for wireless charging. I didn't realize till late last night since I was out and about all day. I read someone on xda purchased the LG case from a Verizon store and that one didn't have the contacts either. When you look online at the att website it says that the powermat charging quick folio is only available online. The online case is grey. However the ones being sold in the att store are white. Although wireless charging isn't a deal breaker for me in terms of the overall experience of the phone, the powermat issue still is a little annoying. Here's a picture of the case. It's also hard to put on and take off. It feel a like I'll snap off one of the corners in the process.
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.
Yeah, that is the snap on case. I don't think those were designed to have wireless charging (in any flavor, country or carrier). Those don't replace the backcover, but simply snap over the back cover. It's the type of cases that replace the back cover that may come with wireless charging.
I ordered this from Ebay 10 days ago and got it in the mail today from China.
First things first, this is real leather! The smell and feel is genuine leather, although very thin. The grip feels similar to my T-mobile brown leather back I had previously on my G4. It's actually pretty soft and supple. The leather does not surround the whole back, but just the rear side of the back. The sides of the back are smooth black plastic.
The fit is a little more snug than the factory LG back. The back clipped nice and tight, but mine had a little gap by the headphone jack. I did not see any other gaps elsewhere. This may just be a mold issue and YMMV. The back is slightly thicker than the factory one. It's only noticeable when pressing the volume down button, where you can feel the back is slightly thicker. I only have one case (spigen ultra thin) and it fits perfectly, and wireless charging works over the case as well.
Wireless charging works perfect, but the sweet spot is quite small. I feel that is more to do with the charger i'm using, than the coil in the back. Either way, I have no problem placing the phone on the charger first try. Using ampere with the screen on, I see on average 700mA. Side note, when my phone was placed on my wireless charger (Nokia DT900) I can hear an ever so slight whine noise. I heard it too previously on my S6 Edge Plus using the same charger, but it is a tad louder on this wireless charging back. Not sure if its the charger, or the coils.
My final thoughts are that it is well worth the $15 shipped. The leather feel is fantastic, and wireless charging is a big bonus! The ebay user I used (which I have zero connections with) is : connectionstation

First, thanks so much for posting this. I'm sure a bunch of us who want wireless charging will look into this for a more premium feel. The normal back of this V10 makes me think how Samsung missed out on such a market with The grip-feel of The back of this V10. Plastic or rubber like and phone is huge but because off The textured back I haven't dropped it once ( ok well I did drop it once but no damage)
Questions for you before I buy:
Grip: which back is easier to grip? Is this a super smooth leather or do the oils from your finger/leather help grip it?
Sounds like you would obviously recommend: does the color match the phone? It looks great in pictures.
Does it raise the camera any more off the table than the normal back? I scratched black ring around camera while putting on screen protector while it was on the table. I can't tell by pictures.
Thanks
Received my "buttery" cover today too. "Chargerg" works good with my TYLT charger. Sweet spot is more forgiving than my note 5 on that thing.
I agree with everything else.
Grip is still pretty good. Less free feeling on a glass table. Grips a smooth surface.

A little darker black and about the same mold to camera as the factory one. A little raise but not above the lens.

I ordered the same listing, but brown
@skyline23 @secretLOVER which ones did you guys buy, mind sharing links?
I really dig that it looks very similar to the G4 backs.
If you search for user : connectionstation you should find it.
Does it charge to full capacity?
Is it quick charge?
Is there an overheating issue?

Thanks for your information, the wireless backs actually look better than I expected, the seller should use your pics, he would sell more of them I ordered one from another listing because it was so inexpensive although in most cases I'm going to prefer fast charging to wireless charging.
Just ordered the red one. Thanks for your review.

Yeh, the red looks good and matches the gold well, too bad the front of the phone is not red, and the back buttons, then it will be perfect.

If the the stations you bought are qi they should be compatible with a qi back. Someone mentioned fast chargers for samsung note not working.
Here is mine in Brown, didn't find this thread, was buried deep..

I would also like to know. Also, how sturdy are the clips on it? I might change my Battery out a couple times a month and don't want to have my back snap off.

It's as good as my original IMHO, tad snugger. So you press slightly harder to snap in place and have to run your nail through detaching most to get it off.
