[Q] DROID RAZR MAXX HD Usable Screen Resolution - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am reprogramming a GUI that runs within a home control app which used to run on a DROID X.
With the DROID X, the usable resolution (minus the top bar) was 480w x 816h.
I have now switched to a RAZR MAXX HD and need to redo the project to match the new resolution.
I'm having a hard time finding the usable resolution on the RAZR MAXX HD, because whereas the DROID X had hard buttons at the bottom, the RAZR MAXX HD has soft keys that are part of the screen.
The specs for the RAZR MAXX HD are 720 by 1280, but does that include the area at the bottom with the soft keys?
I couldn't find any info about this on the web.
Does anyone know what the usable resolution of the RAZR MAXX HD is without the top and bottom bars?
Any help would be most appreciated!!!

I accidentally posted this in General first. Can someone please delete it from there? My apologies and thank you.

On the Moto forums, someone mentioned this regarding creating custom wallpaper that spans across all home pages:
"1440x1135 then add 49 pixels to the top and 96 pixels to the bottom to "pad" the images to compensate for the blacked out notification and tool bar areas."
Can anyone confirm the values for the top and bottom bars?

Moto X vs Motorola Droid Maxx

Spec wise, there's very little difference between these two phones. If you take out the hardware customisation side of the Moto X. Both have the X8 processor, software for always listening and gesture controls such as flicking wrists to start the camera. I'm not sure what the real advantages are of the Moto X over the Droid Maxx? I'm really liking the huge battery life of the Droid Maxx though.
Having said that, I'm in the UK and it looks like Motorola won't be bringing either of these devices in their current form to the UK (big boooooooooooooo to Motorola).

What about pentile screen Maxx Hd vs S3?

Hello, it's my first post ....
I planning purchase a Razr Maxx HD , in ebay , I live in Spain, this model not available here.
I own an Iphone 5 , and, I tired of charging every day or less. Autonomy is important for my work.
My wife has an S3 ... i can see the diference and noticeable of pixels in s3. OF course iphone 5 is perfect
Whats about the screen of Maxx HD ? is better than s3?
Thanks
If you like the iPhone they make cases that double the battery life.

Hello, yes, i see this cases, but it make the device very ungly..... and iphone's screen of 4' is a bit little for web and multimedia.....
Well the screen on the Motorola isn't quite as nice as Samsung so if your expecting almost iPhone quality it ain't happening.

I don't know about you but the iPhone 5 display is annoying. Who wants letterboxes on full screen hd movies? Not me. It is a nice phone don't get me wrong but I think the display on the razr hd is just as good as the s3.

I'm not talking about letterbox's I'm just talking about pixel density and clarity.

DPI change?

Has anyone used a program for the droid ultra?
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I used Xposed with App Settings Module. I didn't change the dpi setting, I changed the Screen (dp) setting to 320x480 which gave me 5 columns in the app drawer. I don't know what you are going for, but it works great for me.
edit: As it turns out, you will also need to set dpi to 300 to get the 5 columns on moto launcher.
I set my dpi to 280 in the build.prop (stock is 320) and used app settings to change the dpi back to 320 for the camera and active display and it worked great. However, I don't know what it is, psychological maybe, but my eyes strained immediately after setting it at 280 dpi and I've done this 2 times and both times I ended up setting it right back at 320. The Moto X is also set at 320 dpi and I felt the Maxx was not taking advantage of the bigger screen since everything is just enlarged compared to the Moto X and the only real estate gained is from the nav buttons being capacitive on the Maxx. I would like to compare the Maxx to other 5" screens to see how they take advantage of the bigger size (maybe the fact the Maxx is 720p might present a disadvantage compared to the competitors). At this point, the only advantage to the Moto X is the bigger battery but overall, the X is much better as a daily driver, especially if you like the one hand experience which is extremely comfortable/ natural with the X because of the small size and light weight. The 2013 Moto X is growing on me more and more, might have to switch out with the wife pretty soon. LOL
