Considering that we don't have a thread for repair costs on our S4s, I figured this would probably be helpful for those who may have questions on how much it cost to repair a certain part. I'm pretty sure we can change the format, but it should have the following info:
1.) Broken Part
2.) Cost / Quote
3.) Provider (URL if possible for those who may be looking to get the same deal)
4.) Fix self or by provider
Hopefully, this will help anybody who have to replace anything on their phone and can search for the information quickly.
I'll get the ball rolling:

im surprised to see that Sammy fixes their phone for a good 75$ less than the actual part on eBay.

I tripped out myself as well. Hence I listed it as a "quote". I'm just waiting for the call back saying "it'll cost a bit more, should we move forward?". Here's hoping not.
Sorry for the self bump, but it looks like $200 was all I needed to get it fixed. My phone should be arriving soon. This was a much better deal at the time, considering the part itself was $200 minimum.

Sammy replace the screen, digitizer and the glass + top bezel, from what I can tell. The areas on the main part of the bezel have remnants of the fall the cracked it. It's obviously not a swap of phones. I'd say for $200, and considering that it would have been the price of the screen and digitizer in the first place, it was well worth it.

This literally happend about 3 minutes ago. My dog bolted for the door and took out my legs from behind me which sent my phone flying out of my hand. It looks like just the glass is broken as the screen and touch screen still work perfectly.
So has anyone replaced the front screen? Is it replaceable? This pisses me off to no end as the phone didnt have a single mark or scratch on it and I just got approved for a brand new replacement to be picked up tomorrow at my local ATT store, to remedy the random shut off and random search key press.

As I was already approved for replacement, do you think ATT will still swap it?
Not with damaged glass. I'd pay 87 to fix it n a heart beat

Yeah and if I call and ask, it'll be on file so I'll never get to replace it if need be in the future.
Wonder if I could pull the glass from a non functioning demo version. Or is the glass not just a cover?
Nope, its a pretty involved process requiring a complete teardown
accidental damage insurance
you better get it! $5 a month!
Any recommended places to purchase a screen from and where can I find a good guide. There are a few out there, but as we all know, not everything is created equal.
If you go to an AT&T store it probably won't end up being on file (you don't even have to tell them who you are if they say "no"). Also, since gorilla glass is supposed to be nearly indestructible, it doesn't hurt to try to get it replaced under warranty (sounds like a manufacturing flaw/defect to me), the worst they can do is tell you "no."

$5 per month plus a $90 deductible to replace the phone... $5 x 24 mo. = $120 + $90 = $210. I guess $210 is cheaper than buying a replacement off-contract, but $90 for a new piece of glass is a better deal...
With a deductable it adds up. I always fix them myself when they break a lot cheaper

Broke my screen and looked on ebay for a replacement. What I can't figure out is why there is such a big price difference on all these screens. There are some for 20 all the way up to 100. Can someone chime in on this?

Depends if new or used, the source of the screen, counterfeit or real and also simply what the sellers think they can get.

ones that are legit are going for at least mid 50s I believe on ebay.
The reason there is such a price difference is because you are looking at two different products. I broke my screen last week, but it was only the top layer of glass(called the digitizer) that broke, which only costs $15-20. If you managed to break the glass and the LCD, however(if your screen won't turn on, or is massively discolored), then you need a full LCD replacement, which is much more expensive, costing closer to $150. Hope that helps

Just last night, my SR fell out of my pocket and onto concrete. The bezel got some road rash, but the glass is fine. The downside is that the AMOLED screen didn't take the fall so well. And here are my options:
1) If I buy this, is it possible to separate the glass from the screen to transplant into my phone?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-ATT-Samsung-Galaxy-s2-Skyrocket-Replacement-LCD-Screen-/280890366865?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41665edb91
2) Buy a new screen w/ glass and digitizer - $170
3) Add a line and buy HTC One X - $199
I personally like option 1 and 3. I love my GS2, best phone I've had so far, but I'm really ticked it broke after such a short fall! I'm currently using my N1, which is on it's last legs, so I need something kind of quick. I don't like the GS3, hence why I'd purchase the One X.
If anyone has input on option #1, please let me know. I can pull the phone apart, but I'm just not sure how the screen attaches to the digitizer.
Thanks!
Option 1 will not work as they are glued together. Option 2 or 3 are the only viable solutions. Although, you will not be happy with the OneX screen. They have a lot of variations in the production quality.
Broken phones go for tons of cash on eBay.
Just sell yours as-is with 100% honest description.
Then fork in another $200-$300 for a used/mint Skyrocket.
Better than adding a second line, IMO. Unless you know someone in your family who needs a line but doesn't need a superphone to go along with it. Otherwise you're just compounding your costs over two years and turning it into a bad deal, IMO.
I sold a Dell Streak 5 phone for $125 recently. And it wouldn't even power on. And wasn't as popular as the Skyrocket.

I had a bad feeling option 1 wouldn't work
I'm leaning towards option 3. I would miss being apart of this community, as you all have been awesome, but I just have a hard time dumping $200 into a GS2. I have a love/hate relationship with my SR's screen (blobs and lines... I finally settled on my 3rd replacement), so I can't imagine the HOX being any worse.

I already have a second line, so this would be my 3rd. lol But I don't see it as a bad option. I know at a guy at the COR store by me, so I know he can dump the data fee on the line, which means my bill will be roughly $10/mo more. In essence, if I go option 3 and buy the HOX with an additional line, it will cost me roughly $440 over 2 years vs buying a HOX out right at $550.

I bought a replacement screen for my SR months ago, and was worth it to me. Paid $169.00 for it and was fairly easy to do the swap. Just my experience. Hope you get back up and running soon, either way!
I thought i might add that the screen replacement comes with the bonded screen and glass digitizer already mounted in the front assembly. There are NO "void warranty" type seals inside this model. Big plus.

I recently dropped my phone for the first time. Glass cracked but amoled is just fine. I so want to just replace the glass but apparently it is extremely difficult to separate from the led. If you do do route #1 and separate them, I will buy the glass/digitizer from you for $40! I don't want to pay 160 just for the broken glass that costs 2 dollars to make!
Option 1 should not be totally ruled out. I have seen the glass only changed on an S3, which also has the glass glued to the screen, and it can be done, it's just really difficult.

I am going to try this process this weekent. I don't know if you even still need it, but I got the glass for mine from Amazon for 8.99. If I have success I will post a video link to the youtube vid I plan on making during the process. Also I will post a link to what I bought just in case anyone else has the same problem.
Update:
I failed in my excursion to replace the glass only, however, I know why this happened. The main thing to keep in mind id that the entire glass is glued to the digitizer, so the key to successful replacement is consistante heat, it would also help it you had a second pair of hands, or something to hold the device in place while you are heating and prying the glass.
I had a S II Skyrocket fall flat on the screen and the glass cracked. I searched the internet for options to replace the glass, but none were really encouraging, specially if you are like me not really into opening up the phone and un gluing the glass from the LCD. And any spare part to replace the LCD and glass was costing no less than $150. In short what i wanted to let everyone know is, i went to a AT&T Device Support/Service center not the regular retail store, just to check if they had any spare parts which could be less than $150. And lucky me!!! they replaced the entire phone for me for $100 + taxes. And just to let everyone know, this phone was a $10 refurbished phone brought from AT&T about 8-9 months back, so no warranty or anything. A plain $100 charge and i was with a new phone. I gave in my old phone with a cracked screen and got a completely new phone and the back plate and sd card from my old phone. So anyone who is ready to spend upto a 100 dollars for fixing up the screen, you might as well try this at a AT&T service center.
I have found a craigslist post in my area saying there letting go there phone for $250. In the post they continue to say that only the screen is cracked. A picture they posted shows the phone on with cracks on the screen.
I have emailed them and they replied that if it doesn't sale they will just repair it, because it only cost $18 (this concerns me, why not just repair on such an expensive phone)
My questions: is it worth it?? Also what questions do you think I should ask? And if I meet them in person what should I look for?
Thanks in advanced xda folks!

My friend cracked the glass on his and the screen won't even turn on. I called the phone and it rang but the screen wouldn't light up and the digitizer wouldn't register touches. So I'd stay away.
I have seen replacement screens on eBay for $20 or so, but I believe that the digitizers are glued to the screen.
If you can't cleanly separate the two, you're probably in for the cost of a replacement combo ... about $200.
Still cheaper than a new one outright ...

I've seen replacement screens on ebay for maybe $15-20 but to replace it seems rather difficult: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_70-W9JjVjg&feature=relmfu.
It's really up to you whether it's worth it or not. If you're up for the challenge of replacing the screen (or if you think you can live with the crack, you didn't mention how bad it is) then go for it. If not, I'd probably stay away as this doesn't exactly seem like an easy fix.
Try lowering his price to 200$ then send it in to Samsung they will charge about 190$ to replace it. The digitizer is glued to glass and u won't be able to separate and put on new glass.

Replacement screens are about 18-20 but replacing them is very difficult because of the adhesive that bonds them... Dont't buy it.. you would have to buy a new bezel with the screen and digitizer attatched to it. about 200-250 itself..A shop around me does it but they said it would be 300 plus labor..
If you can get it at a decent price and can replace the screen cheaply then i would say go for it.

Here is my damaged phone not one scratch on bezel landed perfectly flat and the SGP case doesn't offer much protection over the screen its almost flush. The Top Glass is the Digitizer. You will need the LCD+Digitizer set. DO NOT order just the Digitizer glass. It is for Expert Techs ONLY. The Glass and LCD are fused together and requires very careful disassembly. I highly recommend getting the 3 piece Digitizer+LCD+Frame set as that is a quick swap of the Parts that takes about 15Min total. The Glass is glued with an RTV Silicon Adhesive type on the frame (They use the RTV adhesive on the Back cover glass too) and is annoying to remove as Heat doesn't work as well as the normal adhesive most companies use. Plus there is a chance you could scratch up the frame trying to remove the glass shards (and there WILL be shards.) I have done this replacement before on both the Front and Back Glass and it wasn't fun. Just save yourself the frustration and get the 3 piece set. You'll thank me for it.

Nexus 4 of course.
Again I highly reccomend getting the 3 piece with the Frame+LCD+Glass a 1 unit. You can sell the broken one on Ebay and get a few $ back that way. The swap out from that point is VERY easy and Quick. Youtube it or go to http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781/1
All you are doing is a swap of the MB, USB Port, Cameras, Battery and the Switches. It is really easy and quick and requires very little skill. If you DO NOT get the 3 piece set and just the Glass+LCD then it's more difficult.
AGAIN! ANYONE who needs to replace the glass just get the 3 piece set. Follow the Dissassembly Guide (only need 2 tools a PLASTIC Pry tool and a #00 Phillips Screwdriver) I posted above. I know this is just me repeating my previous post above but I just wanted to stress this as there are sales out that sell JUST the Glass and getting just the glass will be a waste of money. There is also the Glass + LCD set but again 99.999999999% of people have neither the skill and/or the tools to separate the Broken glass from the Frame let alone the LCD itself. The glass has a Silicon Adhesive which resists heat (if you've worked on cars you know how fun RTV is, imagine it on Delicate electronics) and makes it hard to remove.

On my wifes Nexus 4, after she dropped it, touch screen stop to responce at about 1 cm wide stripe from bottom to top. Everything else is ok, glass is not broken. That part doesn't include the bezel. When you disassemble the phone, the entire front assembly includes the bezel and screen assembly. With that part, you would have to remove the screen assembly from the original bezel, then adhere the new one in. It's doabable, but a bit of a PITA, especially if you don't have a heat gun to soften the original glue. For about $60 you can get the entire front, including the bezel (brand new, without dings in the chrome) and save yourself a huge hassle.

Thank you on your answer. I've looking for 3 piece replacement, but I didn't find any cheaper then for around 90 EUR. Maybe I don't know what to search, because I don't know what the bezel is.
