Memory Card Battery Consumption - General Questions and Answers

Can I save battery and resources by not using a memory card? Unmounting the memory card on settings is the same as removing the memory card from the slot in terms of power consumption?

Hey,
You can save battery by closing all background apps and reducing screen brightness or disabling data services
Click Thank if you find my post as useful

The SD Card doesn't do much in terms of anything battery hungry. Unmounting it won't give a noticeable battery increase and you won't be able to use it, so any benefits would be negligible

Thanks for the replies. I managed to find how much the SD Card consumes from wikipedia. Since I'm not using my phone for multimedia purposes and all of my files are stored on my phone, I'll just keep it unmounted. I'll just leave it inside the slot in case I need to backup something. :good:

[Q] Low on volume space - internal storage space

I'm receiving a warning, "Low on volume space - internal storage space is getting low" . Looking at the Android memory stats, it doesn't look too low. Anyhow, what's the best way of cleaning things up?
Thanks.

[Q] Do apps moved on sd worsen battery life?

I was wondering if the fact that an app is moved on sd can worsen battery life, due to mandatory access and "calls" to files stored on a device (sd) that is supposed to use more power than the internal flash......
you may have a right about that because apps that are stored in sd take more time to load(that means more power) than in internal storage but until now i have all my apps in sd and i haven't noticed such a thing yet
I would say the battery drain will be unnoticeable if that is really true. Moreover, we don't really have a choice due to the tiny size of our internal flash, we still need to move apps to the SD somehow.

Battery and Processes issues

I'm having some issues with the battery on my Droid Razr M and the processing running. If I disable nothing then it uses just under 400MB RAM and only shows a bit under 100MB RAM of processes from running processes and cached combined. Now if I disable a bunch of applications whether it be from the App list or from SD Maid that RAM usage shoots up to about 500MB.. This means somehow my phone gets BETTER battery life without anything being disabled even when they aren't system programs.
Is there a way I can actually see ALL processes so that I know what to disable? Is there a difference between Titanium Pro's application freezing and SD Maid's?
The fact that I get less battery life because my phone goes into overdrive trying to keep applications open that literally effect nothing I do is pissing me off..

Apps are "frozen" through package manager. You can type pm disable com.android.browser in a terminal to disable the stock browser, for example. That's all freezing means.

well, depends on what apps you freeze,it really help in saving battery in standby time, besides freezing and remove apps,'' greenify'' is nt bad,it help u freeze active apps but once u use ur apps,it unfreeze ur apps again, saving alot of battery.
my phone 's battery only consume 1% though out all night. Of course,u have to root first to get the advantage.ps: (i never use power saving mode, and display always set to automatic)

My phone consumes about 12% overnight (using 1 of 3 power saving modes) which is terrible! I will wait for Cyanogen or other Custom rom , until then i think it is not worth to have root without changing of rom. If you want please give me some advices to increase battery life (without root if it possible)

i don't know other ways to conserve battery without using root,i thk the basic(off wifi,2g,etc) u already know. just keep the background activity to the minimum. don't waste time on task killer or 3rd party battery saver, they are useless and consume more battery(in my experience)
Get the app BetterBatteryStats. Run it for a day, use your phone like you usually would. Next day, look at the stats the app gives you.

I, too, had a mysterious battery drain problem and tried for days to pinpoint the culprit. Turned out to be the sd card. I reformatted the card and the drain was gone.

Best way to save battery drain is to be rooted dude.
Install cpu-no frills (or set cpu) and select maximun spped to 1,2 and minimum speed at 312Mhz in ondemand and cfg.
Choose your network mode at 2G
Brithness at minimum or a half an it's for sure that your phone will be 2 days longer

I have a micro sd card which was formated on another phone and i decide to format it again on my S2plus. And yes, i check again and battery drainage overnight is now about 2-3%! Thanks for the tip

Combined App CPU draining battery

I get tired of talking about this issue after updating my S7 to android Nougat.
My screen-off draining too much battery. I've deleted cache partition and reset app preferences but i don't see any changes.
I've checked with GSam and it shows that Comibined App CPU used battery a lot (about 80%).
I wonder if you could help me on this issue

Hi mate
That information is not enough to solve the problem you need an app like BBS to find out who is the culprit....let it run for a few hours and check the logs....from there we can take action
i am also having the same problem. combined app cpu 80-90% also my download manager and mtp host, media manager are draining battery. when i disabled those, it helps but the i cant access Google play or anything on sd card.
