Hello, is there a way in which I can "really" say no to updates in Google Play Store? In fact, I have an app (Poweramp) that I wish to use it in a specific version without updating it regularly. Therefore, I decide to detach it from Play Store in Titanium Backup. However, when I go to Play Store, when I search Poweramp, I can still see that there is an option in which I can update it. So, I can not see that how the detach from Play Store (market) option made the change. Am I doing anything wrong or does it have an alternative way to do it? Thanks. Mmm.. I should update my Titanium Backup app since it has been a while that I am using it and way before the Play Store 4.0 was launched...
You can turn auto-update off, so you can choose which apps to update

Same here. Just out of nowhere last night while I was using it. I got it forced to my phone by clearing market data. Tried same trick on my TF and nothing. Then the next time I went to use market it started updating

If you cant use the new Play Videos, cos like me, you're rooted, get OTA rootkeeper from the play store, save your roots, then disable them when u want to rent - works just fine - then re-enable root when you've finished
FYI, autoupdate on Revolver ICS after updating Google Earth. (done nothing else, beside listing music)
For some reason I cannot download the RBS official banking app, I had it working earlier today but I had to wipe my phone because I downloaded an app that put it into a bootloop.
After the wipe I managed to restore everything but the RBS app so I tried to get it from Google Play but it says that my Desire S is incompatible with the app.
Any ideas?
It;s probably because it's not available in your country, try Market Enabler, it's a useful app. Google search for a download link
I had it before but now it's not available and it's really annoying.

I hate this new Play Store update because of the new interface and can't use Freedom. With Titanium Backup I've uninstalled the app and replaced it with 3.10.10 and, because of the self update, I used Lucky Patcher to disable self-update. Since the patch was applied, I keep getting the message "Play Store stopped working" every time I try to open it. What is there to do?
No wrong forum

Ok with play services, and the play store running my nexus 4 hits 116 degrees Fahrenheit. I uninstalled play services, and installed a play services blocker so it couldn't be force loaded onto my phone. But I still had the Problem cuz the play store tries to re-install it in the background. So if I freeze the play store, everything is fine. Is there a different way to go about this so I don't have to freeze anything, and have to unfreeze the play store everytime I want to use it? Such as through the terminal, etc? Thanks.

Go to option the setting and apps manager. Highlight to the playstore and try uninstal updates. But before, make sure the clear data and clear cache button is appearing. Click them first before uninstalling update
Same how to the google service.

No any option. Except you flash to custom rom and get new fresh gapps (playstore included)

Location services
Disallow Google from tracking your location and turn off GPS when you don't need it.
I've found that when google location services were running, any time I opened a google app it would get hot, as it was activating the GPS on my tablet.

So what do you think would work better, using the privacy guard feature for all the GApps, or I could use lucky patcher and disable all the location permissions?
I know lucky patcher is warez, but I'm not using it for bad intentions.

Not familiar with lucky patcher. I just turned off sync with all google apps except G+ and Gmail, and unchecked the option to allow it to track my location in the account settings. Then I turned off GPS. I have limited use for GPS, so only keep it on when I need to use it.
Lucky patcher is an app that is considered a "ware" on XDA because of some of some of the things it can do. But it installs a modified play store of any version that does not auto update itself in the background, I use play store 3.10. Every google app on my phone is frozen. And it's still overheating when I unfreeze the play store, because it's trying time re install google play services. I have a google services blocker app that had the same signature as the real google play services. So when I unfreeze the play store, it repeatedly tries to install the real one, but can't, which causes it to over heat. I'd like to know if there is a way to stop this??

It has just always been my default move to flash Gapps after a custom ROM flash. Reflex just like flashing SuperSU.
Lately I'm annoyed with it, though. There are some apps I don't want to update, ever. Using an app to remove the market link for an app works till you run the Play Store again, so it really doesn't work. Then you have to go through the apps one by one and update them instead of touching "Update All", or just remove the market link every time before you check for updates via Play. I suppose you could write a script that runs before the Play Store to do this automatically, but this is another annoyance rather than a fix IMHO. And you still get Play Services running the BG whenever it feels like it. Also something I don't like.
So, anybody not using Gapps at all on a DD device? And what are you using to get apps instead? I found androiddrawer.com to be pretty good, but any other full on "store" app seems to either not do enough of what Play Store does, or it does exactly what it does, and I don't want that, OR it's the Amazon "app store" which is just really stupid anymore.
So what I want is either an app store that gives me the option to leave an installed app alone forever and keep its stupid mouth shut about updates, OR ?
What do you use?
Seem to have answered my own question. 1mobilemarket does the trick. Gives me the option to ignore app updates. That's all I needed.
None of Gapps work in here so there are always localized alternatives to each Gapps.
I deinstall gapps with an app with root access

I never install the gapps in the first place. I have a number of extracted apk files for those essential play store only apps, the rest is coming via the f-droid repository.

how to extract apk from Gapps?
I went back to Gapps, unfortunately. F-droid does not have all I normally use, and they really need to have the option to ignore updates. Androiddrawer.com is an OK alternative, but not really ideal.
Think what I'll do it setup a dummy device in an emulator with Gapps installed to keep updated apks on tap and then I can cherry pick what I want with my real devices. Keeps data usage down to a minimum and lets me get rid of Gapps on my real devices. Wish there was a nicer way.
Actually, we here in Indonesia have some alternative app stores, but all of them aren't a replacement of Play Store.
Some of them are carrier-dependent for some features, like Gudang Aplikasi that their IAP only available to XL Axiata users and TemanDev and WePlay where their IAP only available for Telkomsel users.
Another app stores, like web-based JalanTikus and 9Apps, or Baidu Indonesia's MoboMarket.
These app stores' app lists were incomplete and no IAPs like Play Store has. So why Indonesians are using these app stores altogether with Play Store.

I'd like to get rid of gapps but I have one paid app that require the play store authenticator to run :/
