[Q] Anyone lose Market with Google Play update?

Anyone else have the issue where Market is gone after "Google Play" update? I found the apk and pushed it with adb but still, it's a little odd. Not really running anything "Custom" just some mods to the stock 2.3.6.

Market was simply replaced by Google Play. Just go through your apps and you'll see Google Play, that's the new Market.

Market is called Google Play now . It should be in the app launcher.

Yup, your old App Market icon will show not working, then will disappear upon reboot. New icon says Play Store.

I understand all of that and expected it, but what I am saying is there is no Play Store, no GooglePlayStore.apk, nor Google Play anywhere on the device. Pushing the apk resulted in no change, restoring /system.
Update:
Something must have just got borked in the OTA upgrade, I after restoring /system I forced the upgrade and we are good to go.

Yes, it is called "Play Store" now. weird name, i feel it doesn't appeal to a bigger audience.

I'm stock and mine still shows the Market. Doesn't show Google Play in the app drawer yet.

Cleared data, went back to market, clicked Accept when the Google Play notification came up, and it took me into the market. Restarted the phone and it still shows up as "Market" in the app list and no icon for "Play Store" shows up.
Would it matter that I'm using Zeam Launcher?

Clear zeam cache or data. You will lose your customizations but it should show up

Can I just switch back to Touch Wiz launcher and do it there, and then after it is done, move back to Zeam?
Edit: Tried clearing market data from inside TW and then selecting market. Still gave me the Google Play disclosure, which I accepted, and then it still loaded the Market. Still doesn't show Google Play in the App Drawer, still shows Market, and Market still works.
I guess it doesn't matter all that much what it is called as long as I can access the market?

Same here, it's still Market for me even after I accepted the terms of Google Play.

If were running full custom, I'm assuming we don't need to change it or are they disabling the Market app entirely for this

Neither mine or my wifes changed, but accepted the terms. Odd.

Yeah I'm running NexusMod 4 and I hit accept on the information but still 3.4.4 Market, which works. Odd.

Yeap same thing here, running NexusMod 4 and still showing old Market but it still works. I accept the new Google Play prompt, but its still called Market. Hope they dont disable this soon and then I got no Market or Google Play.

A few days ago I was running Silver rom. That's when my market icon was replaced with the Play icon. Flashed Red Sonja and now stock, both of which have the market icon back. Weird.

Mine finally updated to Play Store today.

[Q] Google play store not workin!!!!

Recently I installed google play services from google play...
After installation I again tried to go back to the play store but it loads for like 30 sec and then a msg pops up "Connection Timed Out". I just dont understand why this is happening!!
I tried clearing google play store data, formatted my phone but no luck!!
And i even uninstalled google play services but nothin happened!
Its been 3 days now and still can't open play store!
My friends told me that i must be having any cracked apps but i definately have NONE!!
Please help ASAP

cracked apps don't lead to this..
"Connection timed out" means a network error- either internet connectivity is not proper or slow!
are u on 2g?
Most probable case is low internet speed!!

I use wifi... My browser works just fine but not g play

Looks like its unable to load. Are you using a firewall on your phone? If so grant access to the play store then try again.

The app is not region locked (as far as I know). I'm not sure why it isn't loading for you. Remove the update, wipe data from the play store, play services, and download manager. Reboot, reinstall, try again.
That's really all I can think of.

Play Store throwing *DF-PFA-02* error can't retrieve information from server

after ****ing around with a google wallet exploit for my S3 which I probably shouldn't have done (build.prop modding?)...the google play store home page throws a dreadful error of "error retrieving information from server DF-PFA-02" I cleared the app cache for the play store, google services framework, tried to remove my card on google wallet, re flash, wipe everything. Still throws this error. And this error code is not very known either, so my searching in google was cut short...especially the "DF-PFA-02" error
it works if i downgrade the play store to the android market, AND it works if I use my other google account. AND the new 4.0 "phonesky" apk play store homepage works
due to certain reasons, I would like to keep my old play store version, before the 4.0 overhaul

I am getting the same error on the AT&T S4. I have no idea why this is happening but it's really annoying.

Also getting the same error on the AT&T S4. Just started happening now. Of course it happens right as I'm trying to download Tapatalk to peruse xda.

Seems common for some reason. Happening to me as well on the Verizon S3.

Install the newest version and it fixes it.

Because the old version is exploitable with in-app purchases, so Google is forcing you to get the new one, so its not just happening to me.
But my other Google account works fine with it?..

Thanx for pointing out the obvious and I take some blame for that.
Yes, I read the last two post before posting but I can see how I didn't make that clear when I asked the question.
I meant to ask: did you install the new playstore (which still isn't available to the public via an update) to fix the problem OR did you find a solution to fixing the current version?

Ahh okay. Can't speak for Stan, but I just installed the new play store. Quick download from that link and install like any other app. Reboot for fun. Fixed.

I used my other Google account and the original 3.0 play store works fine, no luck though getting it to work for my main Google account

Same exact thing happening to me too. My second account can load fine, but my first throws the error. Play store 3.0.14

Say no to Play Store updates?

Hello, is there a way in which I can "really" say no to updates in Google Play Store? In fact, I have an app (Poweramp) that I wish to use it in a specific version without updating it regularly. Therefore, I decide to detach it from Play Store in Titanium Backup. However, when I go to Play Store, when I search Poweramp, I can still see that there is an option in which I can update it. So, I can not see that how the detach from Play Store (market) option made the change. Am I doing anything wrong or does it have an alternative way to do it? Thanks. Mmm.. I should update my Titanium Backup app since it has been a while that I am using it and way before the Play Store 4.0 was launched...

You can turn auto-update off, so you can choose which apps to update
