Hello All,
I have the model ME865 Atrix 2. The system version is listed as 67.220.3.ME865.Retail.en.05. Android version is 4.04. Firmware configuration version is GAS_ASIA_EDISONHKTWNGNC_P012.
When I purchased the phone, I was hoping to utilize data encryption. However, I am unable to find an Encryption option in Settings, under Security & Screen Lock. Here are my questions:
1) Is the missing data encryption option normal for the version of the phone I have?
2) Is it possible to get data encryption on this phone?
3) If it is possible to get data encryption on this phone, how would I go about doing it?
Thank you.

Hello!
I am still quite new to the Android environment and I do not yet know all the ins and outs of the operating- or file system (what can be found where? Where are settings stored? etc.)
Meanwhile, I rooted my Motorola Xoom following the guides in different forums and now, I’d like to receive access to the SD card reader by updating the system to Honeycomb 3.1.
I am confused about the following questions:
- what is the best way to backup all my installed applications including their specific settings?
- Where (in which folders/files) can I find all the installed applications and their specific settings (e.g. backup of the numerous settings in “K-9 Mail”)?
- Will I be able to simply restore my installed applications (including settings) after I have done the update to Honeycomb 3.1?
Someone of you may already have all the needed experience – will you provide me with some good and helpful tips?
Thanks and cheers!

i think most people use titanium backup, but you can use recovery to back everything up onto your SDcard and put it away safely incase the worst happens.
I havent done it though i find it just as easy to reinstall all the apps, I have them on my HD so i just sideload them quicker than downloading them. I just use recovery to update tiamat and hope it all goes well...LOL

Hi everyone.
I have a TF300T rooted and with Whatsapp already installed and working good. But somehow now it asks for update ("this version of WhatsApp is too old and no longer functions...).
How can I update it, without losing my personal settings? I don't have access to the sim card anymore, so the option of using a mobile isn't possible.
Is it possible to copy the program files from another phone, but still remain with the settings in the tablet? So, I would just manually update the main program, spearing the entire initial configuration steps.
Thanks.
hi,
after i've lost root i had to downgrade/upgrade again and my tablet got reset and therefore encryption was gone too. now that i have successfully rooted again and upgraded to android 4.2.1 i wanted to encrypt again.
but it does not work. after choosing encryption within the security settings and entering the passphrase, it shows the android logo for a few seconds and then reboots normally. i've tried that 4-5 times now, it just does nothing, no error..
does it work for anyone?
i've found out why encryption didn't work:
if you have already created an additional user account (multi-user feature), it seems it is not possible to encrypt the tablet afterwards. after deleting the additional account, it worked properly to encrypt the tablet. then i've also created the additional user again without problems. no idea if that's a bug in asus firmware or normal behaviour in android (didn't find any reference regarding that).
Well found though. It does kind of make sense not to allow encryption if more than one user exists.
Hello everyone,
today i switched from the german XEG MM Firmware to the latest BTU Nougat one, all with CSC change factory reset and re partition to get the CSC into effect. Had to factory reset anyways, since i always do it after some months, so why not update and test Nougat, while at it.
While everything except VoLTE/WifiCall (which are to be expected not working) works perfectly, i do however have a small problem with 1 App only, namely WhatsApp.
I've done a Cloud and Local Backup before the Update and neither are restoring on the Nougat OS, tested with older / same and even a newer beta from the APK itself.
The backup is recognized in size and according to the SQL extract should not be corrupted, haven't seen through every chat though (Cloud Backup size 660MB, chat file 22MB <- too big maybe?).
So my question is, does anyone have the same problem as i do? Is it a Nougat Filesystem / WhatsApp Database Key change due to the upgrade?
If you had the problem aswell, did you solve it without a downgrade or am i alone with it? The MM Key works on local backup, though i haven't yet pulled a "new" key to verify yet.
Tried:
Install various APK's, older/newer and same version
Factory Reset w/ clearing cache via recovery mode after flashing
Give the app permissions before launching
Remove Google Account to restore from local backup
Since i now have to wait 13h to verify with their servers again due to my personal troubleshoot, i figured i could ask here
I'm grateful for any tips, otherwise i might downgrade to MM again and hope the problem fixes itself, though i'd like to have the features of Nougat now and not in 2-3months, given previous release schedules of my carrier.
edit:
- I've just had an idea, while you use your phone number to verify. Mine does not display under the phone settings -> Device information -> Own Number. This might be due to the CSC change, but should not be relevant, since the actual process is done via messaging right?
Some additions to above text.
I'm trying to ensure my son's game and app data can be backed up from a tablet we both use so I can flash a rom (or even move to a new device). I am the owner of the tablet. He is connected to my google account with google family link. I have access to all passwords and pins. Device is not rooted.
As far as I can tell, I can't root the device without a factory reset (an older lenovo tablet, though I believe my overall goal is independent of device brand and model). That would obviously cost him his data. I can't use google's native backup and restore functionality I believe (as I think only the device owner can use that). I can't make him the device owner, without a factory reset (again, costing him his data). I can't get his data with titanium backup I believe (which i've used for myself in the past), since the device isn't rooted.
I'd appreciate any help on this. I've searched fruitlessly for quite some time.
Thanks!
You need to start mobile in recovery mode. You need sd card on mobile.
You will get option backup user data under recovery mode.
Those data backup on sd card.

Thanks for the reply. It's just a stock tablet, no recovery is flashed yet (I'm assuming a recovery would wipe data for my device but I'll take a look) Or perhaps you are implying a stock recovery, which I'll check if one exists (android 7.x)

Ever since Android OS first saw the light of day, an Android device by default has had Stock Rcovery, unless it gets removed from device.
Hint: Use ADB to backup / restore apps & their data.

Use volume and power button to start mobile in recovery mode. Then you will get option of backup user data.
simple use adb its reliable fast and safest method you can use. even if you are new to this thing you just need a computer and copy paste commands from google to backup/restore app data.
Thank you all! I'm on it. Now, onto the fun of old products and adb/usb drivers.
