It shouldnt be too much longer and there is truthfully not much difference between each and you can flash back and forth without a problem.

LOL! Once it's gone online, it's out there somewhere.
Sincerely though: sbdags and CROMI-X are not exactly hard to find in here, but I've had quite a few cases of minor threads that I lost sight of and subsequently could not find my way to again. It's great if you can have alternative routes available.
Oh, and sbdags/Darren: although I admire your dedication and handiwork on CROMI-X,which would make some people ask you to allow them to have your baby/babies, I presume the latter is a biological impossibility (and will remain so for some time to come unless my colleagues stumble onto something). That may be the better for both of us in several respects, one of them being the fact that I do not feel enticed to stalking you.

Well. For me this was a huge undertaking. Scary as **** of making the tablet unuseable, but i didn't. I succeeded and thought i would share it. So that other people that have limited computer knowledge might see it and go well if he can do it so can i
Good to hear. I am running it too and it is nice and snappy especially if you have the overclocked kernel.

[DEV] Tiamat Kernel

Anyone have an idea how hard it would be to port this tiamat kernel over to Transformer? built for XOOM and others, and the XOOM hardware is near identical right? Just a thought, this thread has the info and link to the github of the sources.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013
I posted in the thread if he could develop for us and everyone yelled me. I thought it'd be easy too. But I agree. I hope someone could port this because this kernel seems amazing.

Yeah, I was going to PM him, but he has PMs disabled, and I wasn't going to post in the thread because people hate that, me included. There is nothing more annoying in a thread when someone else comes in asking to do this all to their device. While this is a situation where at least the device internals are pretty similar, still not a polite thing to do. The github of his work should be enough for any dev here to port the work over pretty easily I'd think. We'll see though.

The hardware is fairly similar but they are based on two completely different OEM boards. Transformer=Ventana, Xoom=Stingray.
The Tiamat kernel modificationc could possibly be ported to the transformer kernel, but it isn't as straight forward and simple as you might think.
definitely would be sweet.. dual 1.6GHZ sounds pretty good
Hopefully we get some support soon.. I wish I knew how to do this stuff.
I'm not sure what it is but the forum for the Eee pad seem a bit dead tbh, is it just because of limited stock?

I miss IRC.
And I hope we get some development on this soon. It'd be a shame to see people sticking to products like the xoom, just because the TF is so limited in its availability. We need availability to pick up for this product.

Its not limited in just availability, its limited in 'mod-ability'.. It could just be the product maker following the guidelines for that particular board and making use of 'security' features specific to that board, but its still a pain in the ass. Work was put in to make the end user work harder to be able to customize.
I have the gtab (harmony), Xoom (stingray) , and eeepad (ventana). The gtab is the fastest, the easiest to mod, the hardest to brick.. and the heaviest with the worst screen. The eeepad is the slowest, the worst to mod and the lightest.. guess what .. best screen.
I am typing this on the gtab tho.. and I just got the eeepad today. It'll probably collect dust. Tried to play south park (originally avi/xvid/mp3) converted/muxed to mp4/xvid/aac and the Asus would play it... but volume control was not working it was full blast or mute. My gtab plays xvid avi/mp3 without a hiccup. Any other format I can throw at it too (sans multichannel audio and high profile h264). Its really surprising how far this has come. Since its oc'd every which way, it makes everything else seem very very slow. Only thing I haven't been able to get oc'd yet is emc.
Getting the ability and the clocks setup for the Asus was a breeze. Configuring/adjusting /making sense of all the bits and pieces of dvfs was not. speedo_id is a new one to me, and that seems to be the value that is read from fuse data and locks down max clocks
You guys got Blades and Netarchy on the case. You don't need me lol. I would LOVE to have Netarchy working on stingray.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

It seems Jelly Bean is rollin' out soon :fingers-crossed: When would Infinity receive this version? Or should we wait and get the Infinity already installed with this version?

nice. guess i will hold on to my xoom for a while, but im still getting the infinity.
I personally refused to hold my breath and got the Infinity yesterday (me = lucky bastard). Here in Holland, only the 64 GB version will be released initially, by the way.
I don't know what the splendid chefs in here will come up with, but based on my experiences with my SGS2 and all the custom ROMs I've tried on it, I'd prefer most of their cuisine to ASUS' mainstream cooking any day. I like the stock ROM enough to let it be for a while, but I'm going to root it this afternoon, if possible. I need my TB...

Well Asus usually is pretty quick with updates, and they've already been working with the Nexus 7, so they're familiar with the code for it. I'd expect them to have a Jelly Bean update out within a month.

Hi dskw, sorry for not replying that quickly. I must've missed your reply.
I used the process referenced in this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588
Make sure you have killed off Asus Sync (under WIndows, CTRL-ALT-DEL and End Process). It will interfere to the point of plain inhibition. ' Ot of the box, I couldn't get root acces, but I installed Superuser and Busybox from the Play Store and all was fine. Other than that, all went smoothly for me. Have been running root now for a few days, so at least it is effective and stable.
ADDITION: make sure to try out the sio scheduler swap-out as well. It is one of the main reasons to root the TF700 at the moment, since it does make a (slight) improvement on throughput overall. I will try and find the reference for that procedure as well and post it here, but I'm on a busy train now and people are starting to look at me with this funny look on their faces. :S

Earlier on, I couldn't get what people were talking about either. Being active in the medical field (and having a military background), I'm pretty much used to avalanches of acronyms that you just have to look up. The bane of techie discussions.

Never mind, I did the rooting on my own with the same method.
But the scheduler swap-out is indeed interesting!
I've looked into VoltageControl but it seems like the stock firmware comes only with the noop scheduler.

I called Best Buy about two weeks ago to inquire about preorder and the lady started rattling off the specs as she saw them on the screen in front of her. Everything sounded on point so I feel like I can trust the accuracy of her information. What caught my attention was when she said "Jelly Bean". I stopped her and said "Wait, what?". She explained that her info read that the 700 was supposed to have ICS but had "Just changed, and now it's showing Android Jelly Bean for this tablet when it goes on sale". She was sure of this and even doublechecked her data to confirm.
We might see a very welcome update early next week, folks. I wouldn't be surprised.

Jelly Bean won't solve any of the real problems right (e.g. IO), because those are most likely related either to the kernel and/or hardware?

TF700T a Bit Laggy....Apps to Blame?

Hey guys. Just got the Infinity. Physically the device is great. Love it. Noticed after loading a couple of apps (not many) that the tablet seems a bit laggy going from program to program and screen to screen. And even some app crashes. Ran pretty smooth on initial use as they always do. It shouldn't be laggy at all with the specs. Could I have an app that's not written for a tablet causing a problem? Memory issue? Or anyway to check that this thing is running like it should? I would think it would be smooth as glass. Not overly concerned but just a bit. I've only had it for two days so just generating some dialog. I hate to jump to a "return it" attitude as the next one I get may have another issue or do the same thing.
Also it seems most programs aren't written yet to see the "microSD" card and treat the internal "scdard" as an external. Went through this with my Galaxy S3. Here we go again!
no lag on mines. i downloaded a couple of torrents last night and still was able to do other things without hiccups.

You're probably new to this forum?
This is a known I/O issue on this device. Everyone has it, one way or another.
Currently there are speculations that it is due to SW and not HW, so it will be fixed eventually.
Try turning off wi-fi or wait for some time for the tablet to settle down after heavy downloading and installing.
It should get better.
But, as soon as you are downloading something or copying and such ... and when you try to do other things in parallel ... the tablet will get laggy again.

Yes i am new to this device and this section of the forum. Thanks for the info. Glad to know it's probably SW and not hardware as this is frustrating. Is fast then bogs down quick. Maybe a custom ROM to fix this soon.

Tried the tablet the whole day with new apps, loading archives, extracted 600mb while watching youtube in HD, no problems yet. But I only have a few apps installed yet.
Only thing I saw is when the tablet switches from landscape to portrait, the wallpaper jumps from the left side to the right and gets then finally centered. A bit annoying.

Glad to hear (sorta) that it's happening to others as it denotes a software issue and not hardware. Hard to tell sometimes. I would certainly want to return it if there was a memory or CPU issue but obviously don't want to go through that hassle if I don't have to. Went up to BB today and they didn't have the Infinity but did have a Prime. The Prime was fast and I asked the salesguy (who claimed to know all about the tablets) to see if mine seemed laggy to him. He said it looked great but it also was not connected to wifi. It did seem to run faster without wifi. Starting to lead me to believe that the radio firmware is not perfected and when connected or connected to a poor wifi source it slows.
When I got my Galaxy S3 it was a little laggy even with a custom ROM until I connected in anther state to LTE and the phone was smooth as butter. Wifi performance does seem to affect the entire use of the phone/tablets quite a bit.
Not apps to blame but android 4.1, for poor optimization

Maybe JB will fix some of this. It's supposed to be smooth. That is whenever we get it.
Prime users have been reporting big improvement with JB. Since ASUS likes to use the same NAND across all its tablets, it should help us out as well.

Mine was laggy as all get out for the first day. Especially while installing apps. Since then it seems to have settled in. Kinda like when you flash a new ROM and it takes a day or two before starting to act right. I was admittedly a bit concerned at first I've I've been on the edge of my seat awaiting for this device, but I'm really happy with it now.

Prime users have been reporting big improvement with JB. Since ASUS likes to use the same NAND across all its tablets, it should help us out as well.

This is good to know. Thanks. I did a hard reset and it helped a bit. Still laggy and the wireless is not stellar but as long as it's not the hardware I'm ok with it as JB is coming and custom ROMS. I do appreciate the feedback. Thanks. :good:
BTW: How are things in Fayette-nam? I used to fly in there a lot.

The hardware seems to be rock solid, JB or just some updates will likely iron out a vast majority of it's problems. Keep in mind we're all early adopters, these sorts of things are to be expected. Fayetteville is...well it's Fayetteville.

I've applied the scheduler change, most of the build.prop tweaks and the minfree modifications from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758160
Overall it seems more responsive. The tcp buffer changes in build.prop helped a LOT with wifi performance. went from buffering streamed 720p movies to almost being able to handle a pretty high bitrate 1080p movie.

I just got the device so I need to start reading up on rooting and doing some tweaks. I guess it's a good time to root it. If there are problems I am still within my time to return it.
The new firmware should solve a lot of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800593&page=2

Where are they getting this update? I'm currently on US 9.4.5.21 and there is no OTA update and the latest on Asus' site is 9.4.5.22
Try updating to .22 manually and then check for OTA updates in the system settings.
