If you want to flash a custom ROM/kernel/recovery afterwards you need to make sure your bootloader is unlocked.

[Q] Root 4.1.2 Please

I have looked everywhere so please don't slam me for asking but I cannot find a relatively simple way to root my XOOM running 4.1.2 - I have tried the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468298 method and it simply does not work. I unlocked the BL but then this "tool" asks me to install either CWM or another recovery which it just doesn't do, hence I can't root - Can anyone assist me?
I simply, also, cannot find the universal root file available anywhere

[Q] Need help With soft Bricked Galaxy S3 I535 Verizon Model

Alright guys so here is the whole story with how I "Soft bricked my GS3 I535 Verizon version 4.4.2
I rooted my phone with the application "Kingo Root". It worked flawlessly my phone was rooted and i was able to install SuperSU and rootchecker and a whole bunch of other great root only apps. After I realized how great rooting was I decided I wanted to change my ROM to cyanogen since that what most people seem to prefer for a rooted phone. I downloaded an earlier version of EZ UNLOCK app to unlock the bootloader to that I could access the bootloader to flash a new ROM. After I used the EZ UNLOCK and turned off my phone to get into the recovery IT WAS HARD BRICKED . Luckily though I found this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166 Which worked like a charm and had my device up and running again but was dependent on the new Ext SD card to boot up. When I got to the step where I was supposed to recover the Stock bootloader onto the device it seemed to work. I input the code in the Terminal that the instructions said to do with the debrick.bin file. (My file was actually a debrick.img disck image file) But I didnt think it mattered too much. After inputing the code and waiting for it to finish the process I tried to reboot to see if it would boot off of internal memory. Now it is stuck in a boot up loop AKA soft bricked i supppose. I cannot get into recovery as it is locked because of verizon stuff still.
At this point I have backups of everything I REALLY want to keep so If I can get to factory defaults even, that would absolutely fine.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!
I apologize for the lengthy story but I feel the more info i give the easier it is for you to help.

[Completed] [Q] S3 Canadian root no PC!

Hey guys so lately I've been trying to root my s3 (sgh i 747m) without a PC but I haven't found a single way. And if you're wondering why I can't use a PC its because my port is damaged. So I've been looking for some one click root methods but they did not work I've tried lots of them like framaroot, towel root, I root, z4root, and much more. And because my sister has the same phone same model as me but rooted, I was wondering if I could transfer root access with a micro SD card or if I could put the SD card into my tablet and connect that to the computer and bring it back to my s3. If any of you guys have found a way please leave the link down below.
Hi, thank you for using XDA assist. Sounds like you've tried all the methods available. Also it's not going to be possible to transfer root from your sisters phone. Anyway, you're crazy to root your device if you can't access a computer. Sooner or later, with root, something will go wrong and you'll need the PC to recover your device.

[Q] Canadian Galaxy Core SM-g386W rooting

Hi everyone,
i have been searching for 2 weeks how to root this phone, but no luck yet. I am saying no luck for a proper way to do it , because you can do it with the avant method, or by using the CF method which uses the SM-G386T firmware, and for reading lots of forums, i know it works, but the problem is if i ever want to update later, i would not be able to do so. I already have the firmware for my phone, G386WVLU1ANJ1, running android 4.4.2 KITKAT, and i have extracted the recovery.img from the firmware file. I am searching how to unlock the bootloader so i can apply whatever rooting method i want. Since i am new to this, i need some information. If i ever want to use the CF-Auto-Root method using the SM-G368T model, can i go back to stock phone whenever needed by flashing recovery image from the SM-G386W ?. If not, is there any other method i can use, preferably one that doesn't trip my KNOX flag to 0x01. Until now i have tried 2 methods, Towelroot and Z4root, which didn't work at all. The main reason i want to root is i want to get rid of the bloatware installed by default on my phone and gain control of my phone without any restrictions, and customizing it.
Please need help.
Thank you very much
P.S: can anyone recommend some reading about rooting android phones?

I also own one of these phones and would like to root the phone to get rid of bloat ware and make the phone run smoother. I would appreciate if you could give a quick run down on how you managed your root. Greatly appreciated.
