Onda v972 with Archos Platinum 97 Firmware - Miscellaneous Android Development

Can we get a group together where we can discuss the possibility of flashing the Archos Platinum HD 97 firmware on the Onda v972. I have tried to load it via the OTA but it keeps failing the verification. Looked at possibly repackaging it into a PhoenixSuite flashable image with no luck. Most probably because I lack the necessary skills and knowledge. This Tablet is in serious need of a decent firmware.

I would like to thank gudirix for providing me a link where some of the people at HTCMania have already flashed the flashed the Archos Platinum HD 97 firmware on the Onda v972. You can find it here (in spanish): http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=615583
I haven't tried it myself yet but have been advised that some things such as the Camera and SD writing permissions are not working.

[Q] Upgrading or flashing Skytex Skypad Pocket

Hi All,
Has anyone had any luck upgrading the firmware on the Skytex Skypad Pocket? This is NOT the Skytex Primer Pocket which has another (unfortunately not very telling) thread about, but another similar 4 inch display Android device running ICS and 1Ghz ARM so it is actually a great piece!
My only problem is the website firmware upgrade instructions are 1. incorrect (there is no reset button in the Mic hole!) and 2. simply does not work. (I was able to upgrade the other device, Primer Pocket with the MIPS proc, but not this one, alas). The firmware is uploaded fine at skytex.com, and it can be downloaded fine (300MB or so) but the process with that LiveSuit software for Windows simply does not work at all. (I would rather not go into detail because it is nightmarish).
So Question 1: Did anyone have luck upgrading it any other way (the firmware zip is available)? There is also no driver for the device it seems, other than what's provided for the LiveSuit software, but even that wasn't reliable it took me a long time to make the software [seem to] recognize the device.
Question 2: Best would be of course to use CWM bootunlocker and CynogenMod9 or some other well known method to root and reflash to a latest ICS, I just don't feel good being stuck with what's on the device. Otherwise it looks a really cool one, very cheap, small, great for kids and said to run all the Android apps you can name (if they fir the 4 inch screen of course).
Thanks a LOT
S

[Q] Allview 2 Speed Quad ( Onda V812 rebranded)

Hello everyone, I have a serious problem with my tabled. Last night I wanted to install a custom rom. After all the research I have done , I found several custom roms for Onda V812 but nowhere was writing Allview 2 speed quad. Anyway, after installing the custom rom everything went perfectly fine untill i powered back on the tablet. The touchscreen does not work whatsoever. I have no idea what to do. My sister has the same tablet and I am currently doing a cwm backup , but I don't know how to flash the files back on my device without adb .. I use Pheonix Suit but apparently I can't flash CWM images.. I really need some help. Thanks :3

Hey,
I had exactly the same problem a few months ago. And after lenghtly discussions with their support, I managed to convince them to send me the factory image.
If you still have that problem, I can upload it for you tomorrow.
Btw, I also thought it was a V812 rebrand, but it isn't. The 2 speed Quad has an A31s, not an A31. I disassembled it to find that out.

Anyway, Thank you for uploading it :good: .

hello.i have a problem with a tablet allview 2 speed quad , i tried to change the firmware with 4.4.2 kit for onda v812 ,but same problem touch not work.i instaled the softwer of b3nn0 but wifi not always work.download start after 5-10minutes.apps block ( screen remains black and blocked when start) on stand by , screen comes on alone , root not work ..how can i fix it? please help
Hey,
No idea how to fix it.
Wifi never worked when the screen was off for me. Not even when the device was new, so I considered it to be normal. You sure that this worked for you before?
The screen should usually not come on alone. It should do so only during charging (turns on when you plug it in, turns on when the battery is full) but usually it shouldn't.
Never tried to root the device. But when I use adb on it, I get a root shell, so it is somehow rooted by default. But apps can't get root, it seems.

Problem with my Allview Speed 2 quad tablet
Heloo all,
I have a serious problem with my allview speed 2 quad tablet. After a restart my tablet always opened in recovery mode but in that menu i couldn't move down or up because the touchscreen seems that it doesn't answer to touch.I try different software and flash them with PhoenixSuit but until now i didn't find the right one.I try the original firmware(Allview2_M809Q5_20130903) from this thread but after i flash it the tablet open the software and the aplication but the touch doesn't respond to command.
I tryed all version of Onda v812 software:
-V812Core4_v1.35
-V812Core4-V1_v2.0
-V812Core4-V5_v2.0
-V812Core4-V5_v1.35,but in all those version the camera and the wifi motherboard isn t recognized by the Onda software so i can't use camera and WIFI.
Anyone can help me with a original software for this tablet or a modify image firmware that works on this tablet?
Strange. I had all these problems, too, when using the Onda firmwares. I tried all of them aswell.
At some point I just gave up and flashed the stock firmware posted above and everything worked again. No idea why it doesn't work for you...

can you make me a backup image after your tablet now and send me again?
I thought about something, what if we combine an onda rom which doesn't have a working Wifi/Camera but a working touchscreen (like V812Core4-V1_v2.0); with the original stock rom of this tablet (Allview2_M809Q5_20130903) ? Then we will finally have a good rom that is working on our Allview 2 speed quad.
So, as far as I watched tutorials, to have this custom rom of ours we will need to extract the softwares img files (both V812Core4-V1_v2.0.img and Allview2_M809Q5_20130903.img) into 2 folders (each one that will contain the System.img, Boot.img, Recovery.img ..etc); then we should replace the boot.img from the stock software (the folder obtained from Allview2_M809Q5_20130903.img) into the Onda's software (the folder from V812Core4-V1_v2.0.img); aaand then repack our Onda's modified software (or, let's say Our custom rom) into a new img that will be flashed with Phoenix.
The Boot.img that will be replaced contains the Wifi "drivers", so in this case the Wifi will work (I think...).
Also there are tutorials on youtube on how to do that. (eg "[HOW-TO] Create, Unpack and Repack update.img ROM on Windows ").
Now I just need an expert on android to tell me if what I said is possible... or... we will remain with our stock, laggy, disastrous firmware/rom from Allview.
Thanks a lot. It's like a new tablet

[Q] GoClever Insignia 500 - stock rom?

Hi
I have GoClever Insignia 500 and I bricked it (while changing font...). Tried to wipe cache and data but it didn't work. Anyway, I have no backup (it was rooted for like 20 minutes) and have no idea what to do. I asked on polish forum (that phone is probably available only in Poland) but noone has answered yet. I installed flashtool and formated him, now I'm trying to get stock rom or backup to flash it back but can't find it. Is there any 'universal' rom that would work? I heard that on Mediatek cpu there are compatibile roms with other phones. I tried to flash other roms but can't find exactly same phone (some has more ram, some has smaller screens and I don't know how to look for same rom). Maybe there's GoClever Insignia 500 user able to make some stock rom? It has MediaTek 6582, 1gb ram, HD res, full spec can be found at

Can someone help?

There's NOTHING there, but ...
The oryginal ROM you can find on needrom .com
I don't want to open another topic so ...
I just want to ask ANYBODY for help.
Affter about 2 weeks I'm completely DONE with this phone (Goclever Insignia 500).
Recovery partition is too small to install any civilisated CWM or TWRP.
Does anybody has recovery.img and boot.img with correct CWM for this phone (to flash it using SPFlash) ?
I'll really appreciate it ...
Thanks in advance

Searching stock ROM for an "Haehne" 7" Allwinner A33 [astar-y3] tablet

The device is now bricked. I was impatient and flashed a non-working image. Now not even PhoenixUSBPro can detect it.
In case someone has a working image, would that be possible to flash it with sdcard (PhoenixCard)?
The board has "TZX-723Q4" printed on it.
Hope someone can help, otherwise no big drama...

nvidia shield tablet k1 stuck at nvidia logo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp2eT-sE2fo

https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/unofficial-update-original-shield-t3281541
the problem is that comes in with android 6 which is lag too, can you please guys help me downgrade to either 5.1..1 or 5.2 i dont know which is the best.
the tablet model says its
Nvidia Shield Tablet k1
i tried to install with twrp when ever i try to do that i get error message "invalid zip file format"
ive heard that there is WIFI model and LTE model, im sure that i dont have the LTE model.
Have you tried using the official recovery images/procedure from nVidia?
I believe the partitioning changed from what 5 used so you'll need flash the appropriate .blob to repartition.
Original K1 recovery images can be found here (including original factory image):
https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload
(search for K1)
Edit: Actually, not sure, but the K1 may have been 6.0 (Marshmallow) from release.
