My boss bought me a GS4 a couple of days ago and gave me an iBolt car dock that was originally purchased with a couple GS3's about a year back. The GS4 fits into the car dock rather nicely, but the USB connector doesn't charge it. The car dock will still charge a GS3 and my old HTC One X, as well as pretty much any accessory I could find to try, but not the GS4. I also tested this with the iBolt car dock my boss has, with the same results.
Has anyone else noticed this or know if there is something I can do about it?
As mentioned in the accessories forum the s3 dock doesn't work unless you purchased it after early May.
The ibolt pro dock does work and is, imho, totally worth the price.

Try contacting iBolt customer service. Don't know what they'll do for you, but they are usually responsive. Samsung made some change to the docking mode/pins and it looks like they updated the iBolt cable to account for that.

Just in case you guys wanted to know I just bought a Car Charger from eBay for under $5. I checked with Verizon and it costs around $30. Though I'm sure the build quality is gonna be better with Verizon.

My previous phone was a HTC Vogue AKA Verizon XV6900 and all of the cables that came with it work with the Eris...
Any car charger with a USB port will do. I picked one up at bestbuy for $5, use it for my iTouch and Eris. Works great D:

I second that. I bought the one from Verizon because I needed one right away for a road trip. It's just a basic USB car charger.
so my BB curves mini usb car charger will work for my Eris?

Another option is to use the Griffin Powerjolt Dual Universal and your stock cord. You can see it at griffintechnology dot com

i use the one i bought for my TP2 and it gets the job done
I have a crappy cheap one and my battery gets really warm... was told to only use htc chargers but thats crap.

Hopefully this hasn't been addressed already...I'm upgrading my pc to Windows 8 and search in tapatalk is lackluster.
I'm looking for a dock for my note. I'm thinking of getting one of the $10 eBay ones, but I have two questions.
1, with either dock will the tab recognize it's docked? I it to automatically launch something when docked so I want to know if it will recognize either type of dock as a dock vs regular charger.
2, will the note fit in either dock with the Samsung book cover? Not a big deal, but if it'll fit in one and not the other it may sway my decision.

i have the same questions! i'd really like to find a dock i can use a case with. i got a cheap ebay one for my s3 that's just a universal micro usb dock, and it was great for a while, but now it stopped working. obviously there's no 'universal' dock since the note has the 30 pin connector...

I just recently got a Nexus 4, and my girlfriend got a Galaxy S3 for christmas. I know the S3 doesn't have native wireless charging (requires some sort of adapter to the pinout under the back cover, I think?), but I was wondering if there's either: A) a way I can add wireless charging to the S3 that would be compatible with the recently released charging orb through the play store, or B) an option that would somehow work for both, if the S3 can't be made compatible with the orb.

Rumors have it that Samsung is developing a kit, if its Qi compatible then all Qi chargers will work with it.
The real place to ask the question is in the S3 forums. If they make it Qi youre good, if not then its on them.
I got the adapter from fast tech for the S3 (cheapest I could find it at $15 including shipping) for my Boyfriend's S3. I have a Nexus 4. Once the adapter and my Qi chargers arrive I will report back and let you know. I did not order the orb, but I did get the cheap $35 one from fast tech, and the double Duracell one from amazon.
I think I should get at least the adapter and the double duracell one next week. We also have a variety of cases for the s3 to test with.
I'm hoping that orb will work for galaxy s3. Not only I'm getting useless nexus 4i also ordered the orb. My wife might kill me. Lol. We got Verizon and at least a year and a half on contract left.

I'm using the Energizer dual charger (Qi certified) to charge both my N4 and my wife's GS3. I bought an after market Qi receiver for the GS3 from eBay. It fits under the stock back cover. Works great.
I like the energizer unit since I can do both phones at the same time.

Had various wireless chargers, Nokia beats all, it just works, drop your phone and that's it, no fidling with correct placement or similar nosense.
Though there is a funny thing with Nexus 4 and wireless charging...

I, too, have an S3 and a N4, which are sharing one wireless charger (Power Qi). I had to buy a Qi receiver and apply it on top of the battery for S3. It makes the back of S3 hump a little bit, but the battery cover still snaps in. Of course, S3 feels heavier too.
That said, things work fine. Charging faster than computer usb 2.0 and slower than wall charger, but I can grab it an run whenever I want.

I've got exact same from DX-Box, cuz they f***ed with model. It works fine.
Got this dock today and it works fine for me so far.
However there is a $10 dock on ebay as per the other thread that I think is better quality and weight etc.
For those looking for a dock this works but there is a better budget dock available.

I almost always check on Amazon first. And boom, solution. Go for the one with the fewest negative reviews. I choose plemo for its reasonable price and so far has no complaints.

I am using maxboost car charger which I bought from amazon. This is by far one of the best chargers I ve had. Very compact and powerful.
A handful negative reviews said 2.4A port does not work with S5, but mine seems to be an updated version with so called smart port, both charges S5 fine. Currently, black color is out, and white one still available.
