[help needed] dead network & blank imei ??? - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

Hello everyone, i recently buyed a used samsung galaxy r. Its in good condition.
But it has one serious issue ie, no network & blank imei number.
I browse google whole day & found that this happening becoz of corrupted efs, i checked efs folder via root explorer, there is no imei folder in it :banghead: i also tried efs backup but nothing done.
Why this issue happening, is there any one who can help me out to resolve my no network issue,
I also went to nearest service center, they told to change the board which cost around rs8500 (indian).
Help me frnds, my galaxy r is without network & blank imei ?????
My last hope is XDA!

Help ???

You cannot fix it without the original EFS. You could ask the seeker if he/she has a backup of the folder. Except restoring the backup, only SSC can fix it.
Sent from my CM10.1-powered GT-I9103

The problem is maybe with just the nv_data.bin file, you may check out this thread.

Thanks for help, but will this work ?? But in my case there is no imei folder inside efs will other galaxy r efs backup will work????
I will try this & plz support me

It makes no sense to create an EFS backup of an already corrupted partition. Also, the imei folder has nothing to do with the actual imei number. It is stored in the nv_data.bin file.

Actually Sir, I format my system partition with odin and flashed stock gb rom 5 to 6 times while resolving my issue, and at time i accidently deleted the contents of EFS folder & reboot but still no network & imei..
So i again flash stock rom via odin & all EFS files(nav_data.bin) again automatically generated, is this normal ????? but no luck to restore my imei & n/w ..
Below is the screenshot of my phone

Yes, the file is generated automatically, but it doesn't know what to generate. So it either generates a fake IMEI or garbage I assume. We would need to know about the internals of the nv_data.bin file to fix it. You have to take it to SSC or someone who knows about the details.

Above method is not working.. any helps please..

No it doesnt backs up efs folder..hence we need external tool to backup..
CWM only backs up system, data, cache folder and kernel..

Follow this thread to backup your efs partition.
You r on ics right now, i recommend you install CWM and flash ardatdat_i9103_ics_kernel_v4.zip first.

If your EFS folder is damaged/deleted and you have no backup, you are out of luck. I don't know of any official way to restore it.
Search in the Sense port thread where apparently EFS folders were damage, maybe some hints in there.
I read on Google some ppl got lucky restoring their IMEI etc by deleting every remaining item in the EFS folder and flashing a new ROM using a fake IMEI.
DISCLAIMER: I have absolutely NO experience with it and strongly advise to do research before taking further actions. This is a too serious issue to try&error.
any one can help me? plz..

If it's only IMEI number that's missing use the search, there was a thread a while back with someone having the same issue, he got told to edit some file and enter his IMEI from the phone's sticker.

Just install the Alpha 3 rom CyanogenMod 10 Chopsticks eat as usual, but I think the problem arose when trying to unlock the sim with an online payment program, since then insert * # 06 # and IMEI it says null / null

Ok, first off did you follow the other post regarding repairing /efs/imei/keystr file if necessary?
Otherwise, sounds like the hidden EFS partitions are corrupt.
Do you have a recent nandroid backup (prior to the unlock attempt)? If so, check the data.ext4.tar for an efs1.bin, efs2.bin, and efs3.bin located in /data/qcks directory.
If you have the efs?.bin files I can walk you through flashing them back into the EFS partitions on the phone. That'll restore the IMEI.

if you use the method / efs / imei / keystr, and retrieve the Parameter Display Lock was corrupt, but does not appear imei,
I have nothing, everything was erased trying to repair the error, I did all the wipe and factory reset. maybe find another method

[UNSOLVED] Unknown IMEI/Baseband

LESSON LEARNT (for everyone): Please make sure to do a complete EFS backup before you do anything or you will end up like me!!!
So yeah I flashed Deodex_LF2_Cwm.zip yesterday, trying to deodex my DDFL2.
And following that I experienced total loss of mobile signal, baseband, IMEI, IMEI SV, and phone (*#1234#).
And I haven't been seeing this kinda thing to come, I did not back up EFS. (Yeah brilliant me)
So I tried a few of these:
[GUIDE] Recover your IMEI in 9 steps
Repair IMEI using EFS Pro
Reflashing from latona.pit then XXKPE; for a few times
Flashing stock ROM for Malaysia region (Froyo and GB)
Flashing various Modem.tar (DDLE1, DXKP7, etc) via Odin3 at different ROM levels (XXKPE, DDLF2, even CM10A4)
Restoring Nandroid backup from other SL user (Thanks Rich'Dawg')
But nothing worked so far yet.
Now that I checked the /efs folder is empty and there is only a folder named lost+found.
Some websites said about fixing IMEI for small fees but in cases of blank IMEI (*#06#), chances are only 30%.
And my last resort would be getting it replaced in Samsung service centre or any repair shop, which I suspect that the motherboard would be more expensive than some simple new Android phones.
Leaving this forum for the moment as to collect more money to get a new phone . . . :crying:
Lastly, thanks for all the input. Greatly appreciated.
Do you able to call anyone. ? if yes then no need to change anything. if no then you should search for imei solution on xda. there is some tutorial for fake imei.

no idea of how much it should be.
but a idea to help you,
1st idea:
go in recovery and fix permission.
2nd idea:
you said you flash Deodex LF2 in CWM, it should not touch efs folder. so, very high change of your nv_data.bin file backup still good.
OK. use any file browser look in the efs folder, see if the below file still exiting, (they are hidden file)
check on the file date. is the date older than the date you flash the zip, if yes, this is the one original from your phone.
the file name start with a dot
.nv_data.bak - ( this is your imei backup file) copy and rename the .nv_data.bak to nv_data.bin and set permission and change owner.
.nv_data.bak.md5 - (delete this file first)

Fixed permission.
I found one .nv_data.bak dated year 1994 , which I think came in when I was trying to flash some efs fixes i found in XDA.
Without much hope I tried what you said, but still nothing happened. IMEI blank, baseband unknown.
Is it possible to have the mobile phone repair shop with RIFF or Jtag or some box thingy to have this done?
i think you must change the motherboard

a friend of mine ran through the same same problem and i think he did some sort of repair from a shop but later we came to know that the backup can do the task not sure whether that work or not but u can give it a try,, BEST of Luck with that..... Hopit Fix the Issue
Good luck sir! As far as I know, if you would choose to replace the motherboard from repair center, it would cost you more or less 80% of the original price of the phone. So it would seem that you have to buy a new one. I hope that a nandroid backup (as stated above) would solve the problem. God bless you! Think positive
i have the same problem and tried those solution the TS tested and still no luck, i wan't to try those nandroid backup but can't find any.

If you got a efs golder as a backup, just recopy back the efs folder to system folder. With root permissions of course.

i still have the same problem baseband is also unknown. I have my backup but it didn't work. Service center said it's a hardware problem so mainboard has to be changed which was so expensive for a 2 year old phone. I hope you can fix your problem. And cukierkas which permissions you used while pasting backup efs folder?
Didn't bother even to check. Just pasted and rebooted.
i'll try later today hope it'll be fixed
just flash stock gingerbread DDLF2 2.3.6. you'll get your imei back. 100% worked for me. hope it works for you all..
