How to remove all music in play music? - General Questions and Answers

Hey everybody, I just updated my music collection on my phone via sync from my computer and now 99% of the songs are not found because of a different file name. I want to just reset all of my music players and search for media again but I don't see the option. I've already tried clearing data in play music and the stock player to no avail. Anyone else know how to go about this? I'm running twisted ics on the HTC thunderbolt.

Have you tried to wipe data of the app, uninstall the app (by settings - apps), reboot, and re-install the app via the play store. Try this.
You can use Titanium backup too.

[Q] Android software that would work as a music store and apps. I.E. Itunes, Zune...

I just wanted to know if there was any talk ever about software that would help me manage my phone and maybe that i could get music from?
Use Android Music to manage your music files and Amazon Music to buy the music.
It just seems weird that Google wouldnt do that especially with this device I saw called the Samsung Galaxy 5. When I found that, it prompted my original question because it is marketed as a music player.
I read somewhere they are working on adding a music store to the Google Music app

Check out media monkey. It allow for syncing to android devices. And only runs one background process (when running).. unlike iTunes which runs four at all times.

Try going to Application Manager, force closing Google Music and clear its cache and data. Then go to apps and start Google Music. It should redo its sync for both on device and offline music.
If you clean flashed a new ROM, your music that was made available offline was deleted. The music is saved in Play Music's cache.

Google play music

Hey all,
I am trying to sync music that I downloaded on my nexus 7 to my s3 via Google play music. I know it sounds like an an easy thing to do but I can't figure it out. The music was not downloaded from Google music though and I think that might be part of the issue. Any thoughts?

It needs to be put into the Google music cloud through the computer. Once your music is in the cloud you can get it on any device with your account on it.

How long have you waited? Often when I install Play Music it seems like nothing is there then I go back and an hour later all my music has thumbnails.

So basically if I have music on one device it has to go onto the PC then into the cloud? There isn't a way to just upload it from any device?

I think Google is trying to help prevent piracy by adding another layer here. But they require you to use a PC. I would strip metadata from the songs ie:downloaded from.... You never know what they will be monitoring. Many cloud services get a bit nosy with your files. Not saying Google has, but you do agree to only upload music you have legally purchased. Also you may have problems with legally owned music due to DRM, I highly recommend Wondershare media converter to strip DRM, and media monkey to manage libraries.

I can't even find my music on my phone when I connect my phone usb and try to upload music. When I did find a folder with a cpl albums it would't upload em, as if they didn't exist wtf???? I go to an album click to select it and it says folder empty. I googled around and finally found this post which hit on my problem. I also see where you gave advice to strip the data from music or something if you didn't legally buy it
(110% of my music is dl from internet for free) and I'm thinking that may be my problem. If so can someone give a detailed explanation as to how I can fix this prob? Thanx in advance man!

Google Play Music: All Music Vs. On Device

I have a question for anyone using Google Play music. Has anyone else noticed that when playing music using All Music uses much more battery than just On Device even if ALL of your music is on your device. I've noticed that in my data usage screen Google Play Music stays as the highest consumer of data which makes no sense as all my music is locally stored. Chrome or Play Store should be the highest user of data. I am only playing music that is store on my SD card and have noticed a time or two that when fast forwarding in a song it'll buffer as if it's streaming. I've also went to play a song a couple times and noticed it buffering as well. Anyone else seen this????
has your music been uploaded as well as saved to the device? if so it may not have recognized that.
thats the only theory I have as I had an album on my device that got uploaded but it kept them separate. The only way I could tell is if i went to save to device and it was blacked out.
Yeah the music is both saved to the phone via usb transfer and has been uploaded onto the Google servers. But yeah it seems like it is keeping them separated for some reason ei. if the song is both on the phone and on the server when All Music is chosen it prefers to play from the server instead of the phone storage.
Maybe try just downloading the music to your device and get rid of the stuff you manually saved. Not sure how many files we are talking here. And naturally, you would want to do this via wifi
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've thought about that but we're talking about 20GB+ of music. lol Which really wouldn't be a big deal except that after any clean flash of a ROM I'd have to redownload everything again.
Then there's no point on having your music on the cloud

That's how Google wants it though. It seems the only way to get album art working on the My Library widget is to upload your local music to google's servers but it seems in this case it is then streaming those files instead of using the local ones.

^^^^Exactly, this is why I uploaded to the cloud^^^^ Even if I used id editors or album art editors after every rom flash I'd have to go back and reinput album art that was missing. At least this way the art stays. I do think I've found the culprit though. I had been using Bank's core gapps on SlimKat which requires you yo download most Google apps through the Play Store as this gapps package contains minimal apps. After using SlimKat's gapps again which has Google Play music as a system app and not a user app, it seems to have gone away. It really shouldn't matter how the app is installed but it seems to have helped.

I've searched the issue after running into it myself and there are unresolved forum posts all over about it. Even using Album grabbers to replace already existing art hasn't got the widget to show anything but blank squares for some including myself. Of course while listening to the music the album art works normally and replaces the lock screen.
Editing the ID tags might do the trick you say?

[Q] Music playing, but no sound

The problem:
My M8 is having difficulty playing music with sound. When I try to play music on the phone, the song will play. However, there will be no sound coming out from the speakers.
What I tried already:
I tried using a different music player. I downloaded Shuttle+ and tried to play, but I keep getting the same issue. Sometimes, when I reboot the phone, the stock music app works properly, but after the currently playing song is done, it would again play but not produce sound. If I go to the Shuttle app and play a song while the song plays with no sound on the stock music app, the Shuttle app works fine. But then after the song is done on Shuttle, I have to switch to the stock music app for sound to come out properly.
I remember how Google limited SD card functionality (my music was on my sd card). So I transferred the songs onto the phone storage, but I still have the issue. Then I figured that the issue might be my mp3 files. I deleted them all to try to isolate the problem. I tried playing song from the Google Play Music app and it appears to be working fine. This morning, the google play music also exhibiting the same problem. So even Spotify is having the problem. The music will load and the slider will move to indicate the song is playing, but again no sound. I tried deleting the data of all the music apps I have and they still do not work properly.
I have xposed modules installed so I disabled all of them and restarted the phone, but the problem persists.
Also, the boomsound speakers are functioning properly. Youtube videos and regular video files play with sound. I only appear to be having problems with music.
Phone modification:
This is probably really important to figuring out what the issue is. My phone is rooted and S-off. I have xposed installed with the following modules: forced immersive mode, greenify, keepchat, nfciconremover, snapshare, unicon, youtube adaway.
Other than that, the phone is stock.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT:
Solution
I performed a factory reset and started all over to isolate what modification caused this music bug.
Turns out, it was flashing the Tethering mod located here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708548
If you are currently experiencing this problem, go back to pure stock OR simply flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2731893
Now, if you still want tethering, install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715671.
I can confirm that installing that will give you tethering and not break music functionality!

How can I check the media output setting? Do you mean within the android settings app?
There is a quick settings tile. You may have to enable it

I have not enabled it via quick settings. But I have enabled it yesterday by selecting "My phone" from within the stock music app.

As noted in my post, I tried using both the built in music player and an alternative 3rd party application. And I do not think a factory reset will benefit here because I have checked every setting and already reset the data on the music applications.
You're not connecting to a Bluetooth source? And silly question but is the volume turned up? Lol

My wife and I are having this same problem. It happens with Amazon and Google's music player, and maybe others; however, I have never tested them. It will play one track, and then the following tracks will keep playing; however, now sound will play through the speakers or head phones. I thought it might have been something I installed, but my wife started complaining about it on her M8 too. We just got them April 26th. I rooted and S-off both of them the same day. I have been working on mine mostly, but have done little to my wife's M8. I have been searching for a solution, but have found nothing. The weird thing is if I leave it alone for a while, it will randomly play tracks and then stop again.I can play Audible books all day long with no problem. I have yet to find a solution.
Rob
Edit: My solution was to install ViperOne ROM which fixed the problem; however, I see the OP has found a solution to the problem.
I have kinda of the same problem. If I start playing music with Google Play Music and then just stop/close Google Play Music. Then later on if I try to go back to Google Play Music it will play but there is no sound. If I try to use the HTC Music app, it will work again, but if I stop/close HTC Music app. Then later on try to play music with HTC Music app, it will play but there is no sound. Ill have to go back to Google Music for it to work again and so on.
So freaking weird!!
I thank God for am not having this weird problem.

It is because you enabled Harmon Kardon sound enhancement and you are not S-OFF. Check out this post and flash the first uninstall zip from the bottom.

Big thanks! I recently had to get a new M8 under warranty & I made the grave mistake of updating my firmware before I gained s off so now I gotta use sunshine. I haven't got around to paying the $25 to gain s off. Meantime, I flashed my backup of ViperOne which I had on my previous M8 which had H/K enabled. Luckily, I kept the H/K enable/disable folder so I was able to flash BoomSound with no problem. Everything functions properly now!
what is OP coz i have the same problem
thanks mopperx2
