I thought I would change the title of my thread as the issue seems to have changed. I hope that isn't a problem. I am able to get into loader mode just fine and have loaded CWM twice through ODIN but am unable to get the internal SD Card to mount or USB mode to work. HAs anyone seen this before? I searched carefully and could not find any reference to my problem. I was careful to uncheck re-partition but there is a chance I may have not, I suppose. Would that cause my problem? Any input would be most appreciated....I'm stuck.
Well, the good news is as long as you have Odin mode nothing is broken that cant be fixed the bad news is, I've been following your progress, and I'm stumped and out of ideas :-/ the way I understand it, you have a working Clockwork Mod recovery, you can boot to recovery. Correct? When you try to mount USB mode in Mounts and Storage, it gives you an error? Do you have an external microSD that you could copy a ROM over to and try to flash from there?
Which version of CMW did you flash,I found issues with ver 6.XXX and went back to ver 5.XXX non touch. In the newer versions including touch USB and mounting the drives didn't work for me. I thought it was my phone because of everything I've done since rooting

i believe (based on the other thread he was in) that he's using the 5.xxx version from k0nane's thread (which is what I'm using)

Sounds interesting, but wouldn't this explode needing to access the internal SD? i don't know if my PC has a SD Slot, but that is easy enough to fix. I'll try the solution below then this one.. One step at a time. Glad I've got a stumper even if it is a pain in my @ss.
Thanks again to all for the thoughts.

I'm using CWM 5.5.0.4 Still stumped. IF I did something stupid I sure wish I knew what it is. Phone is one week old and of course store claims it is my fault..........rrrrgh. I bought a Galaxy Express to hold me over until I get this fixed. The store offered me a job if I could fix it and as I'm not working, I'm calling in all the troops to help me here if possible........Thanks a million. or a thousand. They don't pay much.I Just checked and the sd card ext will not mount either in CWM and gives errors. I'd like to mod the express I bought to replace this one but am a bit gun shy now. It seems this problem is buried pretty deep.
Stil grateful but in need of help..
Ready to send it off to a JTAG repair shop but as I can still boot into both download and recovery modes there must be something I can do myself to fix this. Anybody out there??????

All you've gotta do is Odin the ORIGINAL GB or ICS from Sammobile. Your soft bricked (no biggie). Your more than likely missing a few important files that GB or ICS could fix. I'd go with GB, IMO
Close but no cigar.

I went to Sammobile and downloaded the firmware but it comes in Zip format and Odin does not recognize that rrgh. I can't get it onto a sd card because it won't mount in CWM. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll hold off for another response before I ship it out. Seems like I should be able to find something to flash on here somewhere, but i'm stumped.......
You need to unzip the file and extract the files there's a tar file inside. Use the instructions in konanes thread with the file you have. I can walk you through it better tommorow when I get off work, its very easy.

I can't imagine someone would be so kind as to take their time to walk a stranger through a process. (Even if I would). Well I found it before you replied and low and behold I am able to boot my phone. Now it won't recognize the sim card. I made sure the SIM works in another phone. BTW this is a T-Mobile phone originally but I run on simple mobile. I tried the unlocking process but I did not pay for an unlock code because it won't boot to the unlock code screen. It just goes all the way through and then reports "no sim card Emergency calls only" Thanks for getting me this far. The phone worked fine before I started playing with it. Now I'm really stumped...rrgh.
Thanks

Also of note only flashing T769UMB1 from Sammobile will allow the phone to boot at all. Whet I try to flash the root kernel the phone locks up as always at the blue bar when it completes and when reflashing T769UMB1 I go into CWM and am still unable to mount the SD Cards or USB Storage. Appears my little bit of progress was in vain. When it does boot as mentioned above, I still have "no sim card" Any advice would be appreciated. Being a NOOB, I am unsure if I started out with GB or ICS in the first place it that offers any assistance.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
You need to buy an unlock code, than you can enter it through your dialer.

You skipped the next step. You can't flash from GB to the latest. You have to do it in steps first GB than ICS uvlh5 than uvlmb1, uvlh5 was a prerequisette to the latest mb1. Start over...

I have done as you suggested and really appreciate all the time you have taken to help me out. When I loaded UVLH5 the phone said it was updating 62 apps as it booted and I was in the same predicament. The phone boots and recognizes the internal memory card but will not recoginze my SIM card. I thought it was supposed to ask for an unlock code when it saw the foreign sim as I have seen that on other sites. The phone just boots and says "No SIM card" whether or not one is installed. Would sending it off for a JTAG repair solve my problem? I think I may have screwed the pooch so to speak when I loaded uvimb1. I am determined to fix this phone. It shouldn't be so difficult, famous last words. I think there may be a way to force the dialer to allow me to enter an unlock code, but before I spend more money on the phone I want to make sure that is what I need to do. I also cannot seem to get back into CWM for some reason. Maybe the button sequence has changed with the update. Confirming that procedure would be quite helpful.

You need an account with samfirmware and you should be downloading a .tar.md5 file. Shouldn't be a zip. Just curious, what's inside the zip?

Hey All,
First time poster, long time lurker! i have learned so much from this community. thank you all for what you do. anywho lets get on with the show.
Having an issue with my SD. I cannot mount it all of a sudden in CWM. if i /mount/sdcard the error message i receive is something along the lines of error mounting sdcard.
if i try to mount USB storage i receive the error "E: unable to write ums lunfile (no such file or directory exists).
i cannot for the life of me figure out why.
I am Unlocked, rooted, S-on, running Pyro-ice 1.1.3
i have even tried to flash the stock recovery, flash stock rom, but it wouldnt even take that. through bootloader it would recognize the PG59IMG and get to the point where it would be checking the .zip and it would fail about 75% of the way through. i am at a complete loss guys. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
sd issue
sounds like a problem with your sd card. you should format your sd card to fat32. if that doesn't work, go to settings>sd & phone storage>factory data reset and make sure the 'erase sd card' option is checked (assuming you're still on the stock rom).
not on the stock rom. still on pyro-ice 1.1.3.
i have backed up my sdcard and reformatted to fat32 two times now. that doesnt seem to be the issue.
have tried a different sd card as well to no avail. how would i be able to get it to stock if i cant get my phone to read a sdcard? im assuming the answer is YOU CANT... ugh.
EDIT- i have just flashed stock recovery via fastboot and relocked bootloader. PG59IMG was found in bootloader during the scan and it has finally asked me to update. Going through the process now. WIll report back. Hope this short lived thread will hopefully be able to help at least someone in a predicament similiar to mine.
WELLLLLLL. i managed to get back to the stock rom. I unlocked bootloader once again and flashed cwm. once again. no sdcard can be mounted. i was able to mount the sd card with a mounting app in the market before i went stock. but CWM will not recognize the sd whatsoever. i need to flas su to get root so i can finally get s-off.
this is killing me. ugh.
cwm
try to re-flash/upgrade cwm recovery. it could be that your current cwm recovery is corrupted. xmc wildchild22 posted his cwm 5.5.0.4 in the dev section and it has worked well for me.
So here is where I am at now.
Managed to get stock rom installed and running with stock recovery and a relock of the bootloader. After that I was able to use the sd card normally while the phone was on, and in bootloader.
CWM will not mount the sd, nor will it mount usb storage. That being said, I can't install su via cwm to root, which I would then run JB to gain s-off. I flashed and reflashed all available versions of cwm, new and old with the same result.
Its certainly not a hardware issue seeing as I can use the sd normally while its on, and it even scans during bootloader. But cwm just will not take... I'm officially out of ideas... Help????
ota zip
if it's not a hardware issue, there might be an issue with your internal memory. i've seen instances where the recovery mmcblkxxx on internal memory can get corrupted.
so if you have an htcdev unlocked bootloader and jb s-off, you can flash zip's and ruu's now. try to flash the latest ota 1.63.531.2 PG59IMG.zip and see if it fixes the internal memory partition. i did this last week and although i had to re-unlock bootloader, the device kept s-off so you don't have to do jb all over again.
if this doesn't work, i would pm blue or another dev to find out how to actually format and restore the internal memory.
EDIT: have you always had this problem with all recoveries
I'm having this same issue, I can't even mount my SD while on a ROM. This happened after I flashed CWM 6.
Edit: Also the LED is ALWAYS orange now. Even in recovery.

That's the very same way mine was reacting as far as the orange light goes after a CWM 6 flash. But I COULD mount my sd card from there. It, for me, ended up being a corrupted user data partition that I couldn't get around for the life of me. I'm now waiting on a replacement phone. Should be here tomorrow.
IMHO, there's something about CWM 6 that isn't playing nicely with SEVERAL of the DS's partitions. That seemed to be indicated when it gave me errors on partitions 31 & 24 in particular when trying to do a test restore after my install.
XMC has added to the top of his OP under the header to not use CWM 6 until some of these issues can be addressed & resolved. I would heed that warning!

If you're not getting any partition error messages you MIGHT be able the use jonnycat's method pinned to the top of the developer's section to 'go back'. Mine seemed to be doing great until HBoot got to the user data partition and just hung there. It DID replace my boot & system files that CWM 5 OR 6 wouldn't touch. That is if you can't get ADB running to try what you may have in mind. I wish you ALL the luck in the world my friend!
I take it you're no longer under warranty?

Love deadmau5.
+1 for warranty.
As long as your void sticker is still intact and no water damage, it should be ok.
You should call up htc asap, and figure it out. You may be in the last month or so, but a very good chance (90%+) you're still covered...

Hello All,
Earlier I had a boot loop problem, which was easily solved with One Click Unbrick Heimdall. After which I installed entropy's daily driver, installed CWM, and updated to CM10. For whatever reason, I kept losing signal and data. Originally, I thought it possibly a bug in the rom, but after trying Paranoid Android and also qkster's Clean_Wipe script, I decided to go back to stock.
After going back to stock, I now get an "Invalid Sim Card!" message after a few minutes with the screen off (I have signal and data working before this), and this problem persists until I reboot the phone. After rebooting, it will show this message again.
One weird thing I noticed was that I do not get the "Invalid Sim Card" message, nor do I lose signal when my phone is plugged in and charging. Any ideas on what is causing this and what I can do to fix it? It's the same sim card I've had all along.
Thanks
I've had the CM10 issue where EFS folder gets lost, which wipes out all radio functions, but never an invalid SIM error message. I don't have anything to offer that'd address your specific problem.
One thing that may be worth trying would be to Heimdall back to stock again, and then flash the bootloaders. After the initial flash, leave the Heimdall screen running and check the "Flash Bootloaders" box. Once the phone is booted up after the initial flash, shut it down again and boot into download mode. Then flash again, but this time it'll also install the bootloaders.
May or may not help, but there's always the remote possibility that something could have somehow been corrupted with the first flash, and this will at least help eliminate a variable and let you start troubleshooting with a clean slate.

I didn't get the invalid SIM error message on CM10 (just lost signal), only on stock gingerbread. But I'll try flashing bootloaders and let you know if that fixes my problem.
EDIT: I keep getting a message saying it cannot upload pit file. Any suggestions?
Reboot PC and try again. Sometimes it's just a random USB quirk. Maybe try switching USB ports. If you do reboot the PC, you'll have better luck with getting a good connection afterwords if you pull the phone's battery and reboot it into Download Mode.

I guess I should put out this warning: IF you're having alot of trouble getting a reliable USB connection for Heimdall, you should be cautious when considering flashing the Bootloaders. From my understanding of things, a bad Bootloader flash is about the only way to really brick an Infuse.

I rebooted. No such luck. I can still boot into download mode and recovery, but not into the actual OS now. I've flashed the bootloaders before when I was semi bricked, so I thought that it would work again. This was the only computer I had success on before. So I'll have to see if I can get another computer to work.

I always keep a decent selection of ROM zips on my internal SD for such occasions. Since you can get into CWM, see if you can mount USB storage and transfer a different ROM to your phone, assuming you don't already have some saved on it. It'll at least give you functionality again, while you figure your Heimdall issues out. Assuming that it was a wiped-out EFS folder that caused your JB connectivity issues, I'd try flashing back to that for now. I've only had that happen once, in approximately 10 JB flashes, so it seems to be a bit of an unlikely occurrence, for the most part. Odds are, it'll be fine this time around.

Err I don't have CWM anymore since I used Heimdall to go back to stock. And I don't think it was the EFS folder for my connectivity issues, because I had the same issues on stock.
EDIT: got it back to stock on a different computer. Will post again if I encounter the "invalid sim card" problem again
[EDIT2: back to stock, still have the problem /I]
Maybe there was a slight issue with the SIM card reader and the flashing about exacerbated the problem to where it showed itself. If you're still within your warranty period, maybe look into getting a replacement?

Seems unlikely. As far as I know, the only thing that can be written to the SIM card is new contacts. If you happen to have another AT&T SIM card available, I'd try putting it in and seeing if it still gives the same error message. If it does, obviously, it's something with the phone, or at least the software. If not, maybe the SIM did somehow manage to go bad. It's not a problem I've ever run into. I'm out of ideas.

did you remove SIM when flashing the JB roms???
OP's have warnings about leaving SIM card in for flashing, at least first flash anyway.
also suggests doing EFS back up.
always tell people "read read read"
not trying to do the "told you so" thing here, probably not helping.
can't you get new SIM from store?

Perhaps you should take your own advice, and "read read read" again. You have your cards mixed up. The recommendation is to remove your external SD card, not the SIM card. I've never removed my SIM for flashing, and never had any issues because of it.

If I read this correctly, you went directly from gb to cm10.
Your error wasn't so much as sim or signal. It is due to the mtd conversion from gb voodoo.
Seems like the correct way would be: gb to cm7/cm9, then cm7/cm9 to cm10.
If you check about phone, you will likely see garble on the imei line.

np...I have always recommended ppl to specifically state the problem they are experiencing in complete detail, step wise and leaving nothing out.
It helps those to are willing to help others better understand where you are coming from.
In your instance, to isolate the hw vs firmware issue, you may want to consider Heimdall 1 click uckj4 or uclb3 package with complete boot loader box checked to get back to a complete stock.
Or Odin one of the leak package with pit and repartition.
If you have successfully done this and the sim issue or signal remain, it is possible that it's a hardware issue

Yes, after using Heimdall 1 click and back to stock a few times, I'm starting to think it's a hardware issue. Thanks ApexPredatorBoids and qkster for the help.

Yeah, RSD system img is still having problems. There are a couple of threads here with nearly stock system recoveries for TWRP.

You can get un-stuck from this spot .. it took me longer than I would have liked, but with the patience of other folks here and my unwillingness to quit, i got it back and working. The stock images are here. The key is that you need them on the external SD card to flash them back on using TWRP, which was the problem I was having. I eventually used a whole different laptop altogether with a micro-sd to SD adapter to move them over.
If Id have waited one more day, a few generous fellows found a way to unlock the bootloader without having to contact Sprint, then if it really bricks then wouldnt have it on record. Still quite a feat.

If you really can't fix it, pm me.
So I've been using the stock rom but I'm unlocked and rooted. I was thinking of waiting it out for the official jelly bean release but I know how slow HTC is so I decided to try out CM10 today.
I downloaded the newest CM10 mod (nightlies) and flashed it. Upon rebooting I ended up in an endless loop at the boot image. I thought, 'hmm, perhaps not so bad. Maybe I need to look up trying out a new kernel'. I never got around to this and upon doing some other idiotic things (clearing all data, reformatting the SD card), I am realizing I'm stuck. I can't reinstall anything because there's nothing on the SD card. I also can't mount because there seems to be a problem with Team Win's Recovery (2.1.7) in that I get this error: unable to mount /sdcard
Then it says "unable to open ums lunfile..."
So, I'm stuck with an empty SD and seemingly no way to mount. I am able to boot into recovery but I don't know what to do from that point.
Can anyone think of a way to get this phone back on its feet?
And once that is done, is there a clear cut tutorial on how to correctly install CM10?
I had the same problem. You have to extract the boot image from the CM10 zip, and flash that through the SDK.

But didn't I ruin that possibility by formatting the SD? I can't seem to find anything on the SD
I know I don't need to say this, but you need to read a lot through the forum before doing anything to your phone. Also, read the OP pages and first/last 20 pages of any thread. The OP or many posts would have mentioned you need to flash boot.img separate if your hboot is .13 or higher. Or, you can get Flash Image GUI from Market. I would also get a newer TWRP. Recommend 2.2.2.0. There are threads on TWRP/Flash Image GUI.
Some things to look into and read up on before trying:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
If that works, maybe push "adb" a rom zip to card
And maybe run an ruu if you get sdcard fixed
As soon as possible get and keep rom and sdcard backups on pc as well as rom bu's on phone.
There may also be a stock sdcard card back up floating around or maybe someone has one to post. There was a thread with one but link is dead. Had the basic stuff the phone came with.
There are some programs that can retrieve data from formatted/wiped drives. May be of some help.
Not sure what else to suggest--you are not lost and someone smarter than me will get you working--good luck--
I have had my sd card corrupt before. There is a thread that talks about how you can re flash the original HTC recovery through fast boot. Then do a factory reset through the bootloader and it will reformat your sd card through a proprietary HTC process. There is a thread about this somewhere. I think you can find the original recovery on MoDaCo (Google it) and somewhere in his posts on rooting. Let me know if you can't find the threads on this.

Ah, thank you guys so much. I figured it out using this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630459
glad you got it--that was my first link if you used it--
I did! Thanked your post.
I now have a working version of CM10 with a few bugs which I will have to look into.
They are: Device doesn't recognize the SD card. Apps like Dropbox, the Camera, etc. aren't working because they need to save to the SD. I'm guessing that the file structure is just a little off on the device but I'm having trouble with this because I also can't seem to mount my device properly (I can still push things via ADB)

You best off running a RUU and then reset in bootloader if its still not working.

I'm new to this whole thing so I'm not exactly sure what that means
I am not really up on them, you can google/search. RUU=Rom Upgrade Utility. But, they are like the latest OS from your carrier with radio and everything. You need to relock bootloader and "maybe" flash stock recovery prior to running them. They do not flash thru recovery, you just run the ruu while phone is connected to pc and phone is booted into OS. There is a thread in Dev Section on different ruu downloads. Need to make sure you get correct one. Not sure that will repopulate your sdcard. Assume it is still empty? I was trying to pair down a stock sdcard backup I made before/right after rooting and remove my personal stuff. If you are still having issues, maybe I can upload to dropbox and post. May take a few days--very busy. Plenty of posts on ruu's throughout forum also--

rugmankc has it right and is the only sure thing to get you SD back.
Okay, just to clarify before trying this out. This will undo everything I just did so that I'll be back on stock? I'll have to unlock and root it and install the CM10 rom again?
yes--backup whatever you can first, if anything

Just to add to this, there is no need to root if you going to flash a rom after flashing TWRP.

My friend could not get his phone to turn on, or blink, or do anything at all... After a while of messing with it I got it to turn on and I figured out how to boot the red CWM and from there I can also send it into download mode. I have tried reformatting and wiping data and rebooting ect, ect, but nothing is working, OHH and BOTH my micro SD cards are write-protected for some RETARDED reason so I cant put the ROM on that and CWM it.... So can somebody help me out please!
AND BEFORE YOU START POINTING FINGERS!
I have read threads for the last 10-12 hours (straight, no joke) and have tried using Odin, and the HEINSCHEMIA or whatever its called, and I just dont seem to be getting it xD i think its just the instructions are too vague since I havent used these programs at all, both of them go NOWHERE (and I do have the drivers installed)
I am not new to this stuff and I have put ROMs on probably upwards of 20 devices but this one is really pissing me off =[ im dead tired and sick of just reading hundreds of threads that are taking me nowhere! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP I WILL BE FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT! =]

No ideas??? or am i not being patient enough? lol! anyways INTERESTING UPDATE: I went out for a little bit and came back to an "important update" (just 1) and it was the SAMSUNG blah blah (exactly what i wanted to see) but of course when i try to update it, it downloads and then gives me error 800f020b which means "im trying to install a device that is not connected" (summerized) so what am i supposed to do?!?
Any help would be great =]

Did you root and download a ROM? Not rooted? You didn't give a lot of details.
Read the following link and follow the Heimdall link in there.

???? I said IT CANT BOOT and I CAN GET INTO RED CWM AND DOWNLOAD MODE.... how would i root it if it wont boot....
And that program wont work because you have to have the drivers installed and from what i can see its impossible without at some point having my phone connect (regularly, not in CWM or download mode) which is obviously not gonna happen... so thats useless as can be....
ALSO I FIGURED OUT HOW TO TAKE THE WRITE-PROTECTION OFF (NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW THIS, I FOUND THE SETTING IN DEVICE MANAGER!) BUT IM DUMB AND CANT FLASH THE ROM BECAUSE ITS IN THE EXT SD NOT THE INTERNAL SD! ANY WAY AROUND THIS?
and while trying to follow a tutorial (which i think was BS now) all my drivers are gone from "Computer" except for C, D, and my disc drive 0.0 stupid KEY REGISTRY CRAP! so i need to figure this out and when im done i need to restore to before i screwed it up
EDIT: FORGOT TO MENTION THO THAT MY BROTHERS GF HAS AN INFUSE I THINK SO IM GONNA HAVE HER COME OVER AND ILL FINISH INSTALLING THE DRIVERS WITH HERS, THAT WOULD WORK RIGHT???
if your phone won't boot and you don't have a cwm back up or if you don't have a rom on your internal sdcard or don't have zen tool kit then your sol and you have no other options but to flash ur phone back to stock in download mode using odius or hymenthingy.
"odious hymenthingy" .... you are wise, o great and powerful mufmaker

I take offense to the title "mufmaker," Sir. I've re-flavored a MUF or two and might have even dyed a few MUFs. But make one, I did not.
btw..we had this discussion a while back...the OS that runs the phone may be more accurately call a firmware. So we have Unofficial Firmwares. And Modified UFs can be called MUFs
