[REVIEW]Trident Case Kraken Series - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

Just a short video review of the Kraken AMS series case by Trident Case.
It is Mil Spec for vibration, dust, sand, rain, and drop. Optional case mods also available: http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505/kraken-ams-case-samsung-galaxy-s-iv-i9505.aspx
If you have any questions post them and I will do my best to answer.
**Edit.....I called the silicone inner by the wrong name. It is actually called Perseus. **

I've always loved Trident cases. Wanted to get this one but I'm waiting on the Electra for the S4. Have you seen it? I think it also has the same protection like the kraken

Need opinions of a new case.

I currently have the cruzerlite tpu case. I was dumb enough to get the clear one and its now a great shade of brown/yellow. Since I am in Canada with the shipping costs of most cases they all work out to be the same cost, so I figured I would grab something with a little more protection.
The whole reason I got the case in the first place was to give the phone a little more grip since the one x is a little slippy.
If I was looking for a case around the same bulk, with equal grip, and slightly better protection what would be the best choices currently?

I have the Commuter, it's decent, I'm trying the case-mate pop next.
But anyway I'd recommend a dual layer case like the speck candyshell

amzer snap on case or the silicone case?
Well I decided to get the Incipio Silicrylic, seems to be a good mix of looks and protection. Would the black or the grey look better with the white one x though?
Not a fan of the blue.

Wish I had seen this earlier. I just got the Seidio Active with the kickstand and love it. Protects the phone, and looks good while doing it. Couldn't recommend it more.
I'm actually kind of interested in the trident Aegis case I'm not sure if you've looked at that one.

Perhaps that is a reasonable choice for those taking their phone to the battlefield. For the rest of us the commuter seems like a drastic overkill.
When I got my HOX I test drove the Incipio Feather and NGP. The Feather was too minimal and a bit slippery. I love the NGP.

Heavy duty case suggestions?

Looking for suggestions for HOX case. I am welding in a shop a few nights a week and there is lots of dirt, dust, and fumes. So I need a case with flaps to cover the ports!
I have tried Trident which I loved, but it doesn't fit! They don't make an AT&T version! Currently have Otterbox Defender, which is good but very bulky. I liked how slim the Trident was.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Check out the commuter, not as durable, but it covers the ports, and it's thinner than the defender
The commuter case by otterbox is a great option, tight fit that covers all ports, but not as bulky as other tough cases. If you want i can upload pics
Ah ok. Will give it a try. Thanks.

I really do like my Ballistics SG case. This case has a lot of positive reviews and there are comparos out there between it and the Commuter.
Like everyones been saying... Commuter case by Otterbox. Pretty sure they come with a lifetime warranty, so if it ever breaks, you can just get a new one for free.

Looks cool but no flaps to cover the ports. Looks like Commuter wins! Just ordered one. Thanks everyone.

Ah, got lazy and didn't read your port requirement.
Side note: loved commuter on my old 9700. Their customer service is top notch too.

I have the Otterbox Defender, pretty damn good case if you don't mind the size. Extremely durable from my experience with it so far too, I've dropped it a few times. A friend of mine with the same case threw his at a wall just for the hell of it, no damage to the case or the phone.
If your not seeking a Defender size case I fitted the Speck CandyShell Grip which felt pretty good. It felt more natural then the Commuter.

Diztronic Hardshell Case VIDEO+WRITTEN REVIEW

Nexus 4 Diztronic Hardshell Case Review
$9.99- Amazon Link
$9.99- Diztronic Link
Design
5/5
First of all, this case is EXTREMELY thin. It's only 1mm thin, making it 25% thinner than the original TPU case. The back has a non glossy Diztronic logo on it and a slot cut open for the camera and speakers. It is a bit slippery, but won't catch lint on it or attract finger prints. Unlike other shell cases, this one isn't hard to take in and out. However, you definitely want to take it out periodically to make sure debris doesn't get caught in it and scratch the case. The edges of the case just barely go over the screen making a bit of a "lip". The lip is barely there and you may be able to fit a screen protector on it. The buttons are left exposed on the case making pressing the power button and volume rockers very easy.
Protection
4/5
This case does a decent job at protecting the phone while still keeping a thin profile. The top and bottom of the case are left somewhat vulnerable, yet I understand how it would be tough to cover that part while making the case a "hardshell". Keep in mind this case is only 1mm thick, so I'm grading the protection based on the case's target audience.
Final Verdict
4.5/5
This may be the thinnest case to ever hit the market. At $9.95 you get a lot of bang for your buck; this is a high quality case made with premium materials. You can tell Diztronic took the time to make sure they got everything right. This case is so thin you won't even notice it while still giving you some protection.
Great reviews. Thanks for taking the time to post these.

That's a tough question. If protection is more important than go for the TPU. Honestly, they're both great; I just can't decide.
Protection is very important as I tend to screw up sometimes diztronic ones seem to be the best ones available right now. So, what do you suggest? I know the TPU one is pretty awesome too!

rubberized?
I'm interested in a bumper as well but I'd prefer a rubber one, similar to the one iPhone 4 got after the Antennagate scandal.
RE: Aluminium Bumper
I just received mine after ordering it last week and it fits pretty well. Looks a few nano-meters off at some places and build quality i'd put at 8.5/10 but for a bumper under $15 i'd say go for it.
Also i got the silver brushed aluminium one and based on the design quality, id say the blue one would get scuffed pretty easily.
Hope this helped...if it did you know where the thanks button is :cyclops:

I ordered and received three different ones from Amazon:
rooCASE
Photive Hybrid
Poetic
All three of these are EXACTLY the same. No difference at all. So, if you want one of these, order the cheapest one.
I also ordered a couple others, which have not yet been received:
Case Square
KaysCase
I hope that these other two will be softer. The top ones are harder plastic.
UPDATE - These two are a little softer, but both have a cutout on one of the corners for a strap, which makes damage more likely if you drop it. I've stuck with the first models above, and been happy. One thing I especially like is that these bumpers aren't slick, so they very slightly stick in your pocket, making it so that they won't fall out unless you pull them out - nice.
With my S2 I used to have the Neo Hybrid EX bumper, and that was the perfect bumper - silicone inside, harder plastic outside. Spigen didn't make this for the S3, so we probably won't see it for the S4 either, unfortunately.
i ordered the grey Aluminum one last night. ill be lucky to get it in like 3 weeks. haha

im waiting for this to come in the mail. does anyone have experience with this case. i mainly bought it for the finger grips and that it has rubber buttons. it doesnt have a name brand tho

Which case do you prefer?

My mom wants me to get a case ASAP because she doesn't want me to break my phone but I have no clue which case to get.
I don't want anything bulky, but something that can protect my phone well, maybe not as good as a otterbox but still protective.
And I'm looking for a case that has a good white design to match my white frost S4.
Can you guys recommend me some good cases?
Thanks in advance!
Oh and I've seen a couple that I like but there isn't any feedback on them.
Here they are:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Samsung-Galaxy-Premium/dp/B00BSXXOC4 (not enough protection)
http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-neo-hybrid.html (some people say its bulky and feels weird)
If you guys have any of those two above, can you please leave your opinion on them!
I would recommend either the Urban Armor Case or an Otterbox Commuter. The UAG being the slimmer one but they both give excellent protection. Some people might think they are bulky but to me bulky is like the Otterbox Defender or the Cygnett WorkMate.

They look like they can survive a lot of drops lol, but its a little to bulky from the looks of it but thanks I'll keep this case in mind!
What? The Neo Hybrid is in no way bulky. The first link you posted should provide sufficient protection unless you're going to be dropping the phone everday.
The neo hybrid isn't bulky, but it does add a little thickness to the phone. I got used to it quickly though.

I would say the most noticeable for me has been the overall width i.e. from left to right.
Definitely a beautiful case. Just had a lengthy phone conversation and the added width did make it a bit uncomfortable to hold.

The neo hybrid is a fantastic case.
Only drawback is that the holes do the charge port and the headphone socket are so precisely engineered that they only take the original Samsung parts.

Just got my white neo hybrid case. Love it on my white s4. Didnt have a problem with my other chargers in the house like everyone seems to be experiencing. Only grip (not sure if its just mine) is the power and volume buttons. They seem very stiff and cant tell if im pressing them or not. Hopefully they just need to be broken in.

My buttons on my neo hybrid are clicky. No difficulty pressing them here. It is fairly light weight.
As I stated earlier the only noticeable thing for me has been the increased width of the phone. I guess if the outer band recessed a bit more into the tpu case it would feel a bit better. Not a deal breaker though.
Sent from my SGH-M919
Did a bit of reading around I'm seeing/reading nothing but praise for the Neo-Hybrid. Decided to go with the Dante Red for my White S4 =3.
I'm going with the white version of the case! Thanks for helping me decide guys!
Oh and i have another question about the neo hybrid case. Can any headphones fit in the microphone port? Like the end of my headphones, it doesn't go straight out, it goes to the side. Not sure how to explain it
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I had the Neo Hybrid and sent it back next day, did not like it at all.
Got a Incipio DualPro in black now and love it. Looks nice, buttons nice and responsive (Neo Hybrid was way to responsive, the lightest touch and the volume was going up/down..), ports big enough to support all usb/audio cables and adds a decent amount of protection without being overly bulky (imo).
Will probably change to the Incipio OVRMLD once its released.
