The official CM development for the HOX is nearly at a stop, so in order to keep the original CM treat clean (talking CM and just CM) they have opened this one.

So, I tried ViperXL today....
Wait.. Nevermind.
Yeah people were starting to argue in the CM thread about small things. I think we are just really anxious lol. We will see some action eventually though. I see things are being merged in the changelong site. For now, let's sit back and relax.

That statement is very true. I have a 2,000 word college English paper to finish by tomorrow about MSM blood donors and two tests lol. After that it'll be Summer Break for me, and hopefully some CM goodness to flash

The only thing that bothers me about this ROM is the screen tearing. That's it. I know its such a small thing to care about but it bugs the crap out of me. Lol.
I tried a kernel that is supposed to help with HW Overlays disabled.. And while this fixed the tearing, I now experience freezing while on calls. Its random when it does it. But it does it enough to warrant switching back to the stock kernel. Irritating to the highest degree.
Can't wait til h8 gets everything sorted out!
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I also cannot stand the screen tearing, and disabling hardware overlays was making my phone hot. Sticking with viper until the new kernel is ready, but I can't wait. I love AOSP way more than sense-based roms. I like it to match my Nexus 7.

Same here. 'Sept I ain't got a n7. Soon as that finished 3.4 kernel drops I'm trying every 4.2 ROM we got.

Oh. I have a Speck case and the power & volume buttons are UBER stiff.
I stopped using a case... I'm surprised I haven't cracked it but maybe that speaks to it's outstanding build quality. I might have dropped it maybe 5 times without a case? No scuffs or sign of damage at all. Just scratches on the glass but nothing major. It's also insured so you know... whatever.
But I'm a fan of the power button. I didn't think I would be but it's held up pretty well and isn't stiff or too worn out over the course of 11 months.

So I have read several places using minfreemanager helps with HOX multitask issues somewhat. My question is to what extent? Can you say use web browser, answer a text, then come back to same spot? What about same thing with gaming, streaming music in background and using gps? I really really love this phone, AMAZING display and build design. I am even willing to deal with the 10gb HD, but I stream music, read ebooks and use GPS alot. I just left sprint and want this phone sooo bad. Any input or personal experience on the matter will be appreciated and +1'd thanks!
A lot of people looking, must be.wondering the same thing...

If you have a problem with it you can always simply leave my thread(s) or create your own forums and tell people what to do in them. Thanks for the heads up. Anyways..how's your multitasking after.flashing roms?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Cleanrom with the multitasking mod definitely helps a lot, but it's still not perfect. You can run more apps than stock, but some apps still reload after a certain period of inactivity. Without source, I think that's the best we have for now.

I've done this since day one even on stock ROM. But you beat me to the thread, hopefully other people find it as useful as us. I've always used any app from the play store or native to speed up or take out animations. It helps with the day to day speed a lot.
Interesting. Does appear to make a small difference
Does look faster.
And quicker to do things. Thanks, forgot about it from the Gnex days!

Pretty much all animations. Opening and closing of windows seems much quicker, lock screen pops up quicker after pressing power, the home screen seems to come up quicker from the lock screen, etc. These are things that I've noticed. Try setting it to 0 if you want to really notice it. I like it at .5.

Yeah, ask for the firmware number. Anything but 2.20 is rootable. 2.20 is not currently rootable.
Development is not as active as the most popular/active devices, but still plenty of awesome ROMs both AOSP and Sense based, by some really great devs. Just check out the Dev forum.
I got mine for 600$ before as well, im not biased or anything but you can never go wrong with this device.
Yes, 220 is a steal dog!!!!!!! U would b dumb if u didnt jump all over that! If u dont want it, give me the info, n ill buy it! Lol! Development 4 this phone is just fine. Theres plenty of roms to choose from, aosp, or sense. I personally am running viper rom 1.2.4 and i couldnt b happier! Ok maybe i would b if jellybean were out!! But the ics viper rom is sick! I've had the one x for 3 months... And I haven't even rooted or anything ( unfortunately I'm on 2.20 ow and can't) but even so... I love this phone so much. I've been a diehard Android fan since the beginning (nexus one) and have always been in love... I have had the top of line phones since then, and until now, there's always been something missing.
Now, it performs exactly how I want to. Super fast, snappy, and never a hiccup. Not to mention I ALWAYS get through the day with charge and some left to spare. It phenomenal and the screen is gorgeous! I honestly can't think of a device that is more perfect! (Except maybe if I had jelly bean)
I don't even know the purpose of this thread I've created! Other than I want to rant about how awesome this phone is. Period. I'm done

All trolls..
My coworker and I switched phones for two days. He got my one xl and I got his s3. After using the s3 I didn't see anything that blew my mind. The screen was really disappointing after using the one x and it didn't seem any faster. Battery life was ok with the stock battery but didn't seem any better than the one x. Maybe it was just bad observation, but I think the one x actually got better battery life, at least using it for what I was. More of a portable computer than a phone. I text more than I call.
The one thing that drove me crazy was that physical home button. I don't know why they did that. Soft keys or even onscreen keys work such better in my opinion.
Funny thing was that after we switched phones back, he turned his screen on and said, "I am going to miss that screen. It's amazing."
All I all they are pretty close to each other, but if you spend a lot of time staring at the screen of your phone like I do then the one x is the better phone for you.

I'm working in a Tele2 shop in my home town (mobile provider) and I've tested both phones. Both are high end phons an both have pros and cons. It's just a mater of opinion, and personal taste. I have the one and I'm really into it,feels better in my hand, better screen in my opinion and does not give the feel of plastic in my hand. So every one should buy what is good for them regardles of what other peopla say.

Have you tried another rom to rule that out? Temperature reads come from the battery. Have you noticed any decrease in battery life?
That's not good... That sounds similar to a cpu that's been clocked too high. Even low clocks produce lots of heat. At first I was thinking/hoping, maybe the battery?? But I think your cpu/gpu might be going.
