Temp issues.. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Ok here's my screen shot. That's how I have it set to keep my temp around 110-115° running elemental 6.7 with all stock settings, no s2w or anything all voltages are stock.

I was running the stock imagio sense 5 kernel and it was heating up so I tried elemental 6.7 and same thing. On gsam I've seen it as hot as 144° im at a loss. As u can see I have it way clocked down. Just a hair over 1ghz. I've had it up to around like 1.8 and within 10 mins it will burn your ear on a call. Not to mention if I play a game.. fry a egg on the back of phone

Have you tried another rom to rule that out? Temperature reads come from the battery. Have you noticed any decrease in battery life?
That's not good... That sounds similar to a cpu that's been clocked too high. Even low clocks produce lots of heat. At first I was thinking/hoping, maybe the battery?? But I think your cpu/gpu might be going.

Do you know if any apps to stress the components? And I normally keep clocks stock. But was trying to narrow down the issue. I'm waiting on new cable modem, old one died. All roms I use I have in dropbox and had used way to much data and it's only the 17th and I'm pushing 2 gb already. So downloading on cell isn't gonna work. Guess I'm waiting.

My phone and my wifes were getting hot while not even in use. So we called tmo and they replaced them no problem.
The phones were getting very hot in our pockets. For no reason. With that and the data issues I had to replace it.
Tmo was great. No problems getting a new unit. You may want to try.

if ur not rooted u cant underclock. if u are and u have setcpu pick the tegra profile and set your g2x up
I'm in my second G2X and my first ran a bit hot but this one doesn't get hot at all. It seems that from the different posts I've read that either you get gold or you get crap when it comes to this model.
Since I rooted and froze all the TMO junk my phone runs much better than before. The biggest difference is that since rooting and freezing my hourly percentage drain is now only about 2% with data and wiring turned off.

CPU Master Settings

For those experiencing long battery, what CPU settings do you have placed on your phone? I would like a recommended setting that's good enough for performance, but better battery life. Thanks!

I noticed great battery life with the stock ROM (which I'm running right nOw) only thing I did was remove bloatware.

Down to 1 Gigahertz for Max and for min the same. For some reason when I try to lower the minimum CPU it reverts to the same as the maximum. Weird.

I didn't do a thing to the CPU, but I still get decent battery life, even on the long train trip home. One full charge lasts me about 10-12 hours (including standby time while I'm at work)

will the g2x get jelly bean?

i just wanted to ask if theres any info if the g2x would get a official update?
i would think it would have alot more dev to it sense it being one of the firsts phones with a dual core but i guess that doesnt matter

This is the best rom my phone has ever seen tbh, I'm getting sooooooooooooo much better battery life, I expected the battery to run out in a hours time with templerun/bluetooth/dataroaming/wifi/max 100% brightness, I got bored waiting so I just stopped but my battery life was much better, my g2x hated every other rom but this apparently, my battery would disapear with nothing but data on and screen off with cpu set to minimal performance.
I suggest trying hackfest, if your phones like mine it'll love the battery.

Did this look right?

What's your point? Most phones last way shorter than that. Be lucky that it lasted that long! Unless you have a maxx or somethine, this is really good battery life.
If you're not satisfied with the battery life order an extended battery, I just got my Anker 4400mah battery today and so far I'm loving it! The extra bulk actually makes it easier to hold and use the phone.

What's your screen brightness level? You can't have it at 60-100% plus all the crap I see is running and expect out of this world battery life. A ROM change isn't going to help you there.
EDIT: Look at your awake time compared to your screen on time, whatever all those apps you have running are, they're eating up your battery, check mine out below. You really need to stop a lot of that stuff from running all the time, your battery life will increase exponentially.

Something is draining your battery, like mentioned maybe rogue app, like wolf put it best.try rescan media, it'll help.I have a 2200mah anker battery.vs stock.I run plenty of apps no power saver options on.
Also no I don't do bump charging, this is off one straight charge

All that red in your signal line really kills the battery too. The phone is constantly pinging looking for a signal that but can't find. At least is my non-technical understanding.
A new radio may help. Or putting the phone in airplane mode when you are in a bad area

Why did you charge so many times? Running the battery down most of the way then fully charging tends to keep your batteries stronger longer.

The only thing that bothers me about this ROM is the screen tearing. That's it. I know its such a small thing to care about but it bugs the crap out of me. Lol.
I tried a kernel that is supposed to help with HW Overlays disabled.. And while this fixed the tearing, I now experience freezing while on calls. Its random when it does it. But it does it enough to warrant switching back to the stock kernel. Irritating to the highest degree.
Can't wait til h8 gets everything sorted out!
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I also cannot stand the screen tearing, and disabling hardware overlays was making my phone hot. Sticking with viper until the new kernel is ready, but I can't wait. I love AOSP way more than sense-based roms. I like it to match my Nexus 7.

Oh. I have a Speck case and the power & volume buttons are UBER stiff.
I stopped using a case... I'm surprised I haven't cracked it but maybe that speaks to it's outstanding build quality. I might have dropped it maybe 5 times without a case? No scuffs or sign of damage at all. Just scratches on the glass but nothing major. It's also insured so you know... whatever.
But I'm a fan of the power button. I didn't think I would be but it's held up pretty well and isn't stiff or too worn out over the course of 11 months.
