Got Optimum App working - Galaxy Note 10.1 Themes and Apps

If anyone here lives in the New York/New Jersey area chances are your isp and cable provider is Cablevision and Optimum Online respectively
The optimum app allows you to stream TV over your local wifi network
The note 10.1 is current not supported by the app but my verizon note 2 is
Ive found the other threads here involving this app but none seem to work even modifiying the build prop just puts my note 10.1 into a boot loop
the modified apks work but the note 10.1 still wont allow it to access , even after clearing data and giving root privileges
One of the main reasons i bought this tablet was for this app (guess i should've checked compatibility before buying) because my daughter
loves to watch her cartoons while ive got the game on.
In any event Id love to get this working but im not sure what else to try so any help would be much appreciated and im sure other users who
have Optimum services at home would be grateful as well.
Thanks for reading

Well im happy to say that i have figured it out.
I had to edit my build prop manually in root browser to make it appear as my note2
also had to clear all the data from the google apps
and side load the optimum app pulled from my note 2
needless to say It works and with the multiwindow app its great

Sure thing
Your device needs to be rooted to modify the build.prop file located in the root of your device
I attached 2 files one is the modified build prop file taken from my note 10.1
The other is the optimum app pulled from my note 2
I had no success just copying the build.prop and changing permissions so I had to edit the build.prop using the text editor
Step 1 make a nan droid backup...just in case
Step 2download the two attached filed
Step 3 navigate to the build.prop you downloaded open it up with a text editor and take a screen shot from the top line
Step 4 navigate to the root of your device and create a copy of the build.prop file using root browser or something similar
Step 5 open the build.prop file with a text editor and using multiwindow pull up the screen shot you took before
Step 6 change your build prop to match the screen shot. I believe 6 lines are different..but double check
Step 7 click the save button.
Step 8 go into application manager and clear the catche for play store I did all the Google apps but it may not have been neccesary
Step 9 reboot your tablet
Step 10 install the optimum apk you downloaded before
Step 11 sign in and enjoy
These are the steps I took and it did work for me I wish I knew more but I'm not that android savy. Hopefully this will work for you too.....
Also the play store should still see your tablet as a tablet not a note 2 so you should be able to still get tablet only apps
Also and this is important if you are using xposed mods this will not work the xposed framework causes the optimum app to fail, you can still run ROMs with xposed baked in , I'm running hyper drive on this and beans 16 on my phone, just don't install the framework
Let me know if it works for you

figured it out
Nevermimd dude i got it to work by editing the build.prop...i entered the build prop of the samsung galaxy s2
Then it shows up in the play store...no need to sideload the apk.
Heres a tip for people doing this trick...dont edit the build prop with just any text editor....you will go into a bootloop
Use build.prop editor....its free in the playstore
Glad to say that everything works as it should....including camera

That's good new... But does the play store see it as a tablet or as s2? Just curious cause some apps like sketch book are different for the tablet

well im in the playstore as i'm writing this and i see sketchbook pro for tablets is available $4.99....so i'm guessing all is well.
last night i was watching ghost stories on bio from my optimum app......works flawlessly!!! i also downloaded an app called hide system bar to hide the bottom menu buttons when watching your optimum...and screen rotation control....to force the app into landscape.
enjoy guys!

Love hide bar.... I seer the left button to back and swipe on it for recent. Right button is home and swipe for notifications.
What I love is that I can pull up the menu bar while watching TV using optimum app and use the multi window functions and get rid of it just as easily and not skip a beat.... Unless you switch the app to full screen... This stops optimum.
I tried GMD hid bar in conjunction with GMD gesture.... But hiding the status bar stops the optimum app in its tracks.
Either way glad it works for you and if your looking to further customise your note expierence try sslauncher
sent from my Beans powered note2
Edit- didn't realize what app I was using to remove the system bar....its called full screen itis free and works great

I have the note 8.0, any idea how to make the app work on it?
Thank you.

I followed this tutorial and it works

how far down the list do you edit the properties? I have a tab 3 SM-T217A- at&t w/4G.
I am willing to give it a try!

Newest comments on the Optimum App on Google Play say that it will not run with Root and it detects Xposed with Root Cloak and will not run. This may be due to a recent update. This is typical of Optimum and Cablevision. I have two Android wifi tablets and the Optimum App will not install on either one. Optimum denies that it will only run on phones but this seems to be the case, despite the app requiring a wifi connection to work. Every other television streaming app for Android works on all or most Android devices and Optimum has chosen to do this phone by phone rather than by Android OS version.

can you please try put it more simple or with more details i cant figure out yet . i have the samsung galaxy s note 10.1 thanks.....

BIG THANKS to Blue6IX for the new script and files.
Does this version of the market again show all apps, or just the "top" apps like the other versions released of the new market?
I know for an absolute fact there are more then 8 paid apps in the photography category...yet that is all I can see under any new market version. I stubbornly resist any so-called "upgrade" until I can see more then just a few apps in each category.
Did they bring back all apps yet?
To keep using that category as an example - I can see more paid apps in the photography category then I can count running the old market, which thankfully shipped on this phone out of the box - yet in the new market I can only see 8.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade that likes the new interface, but this question begs to be answered.
In the new market I can see, by page, (again, number of apps is in photography category)
Top Paid - 8
Top Free - 13
Top Grossing - 9
Top New Paid - 12
Top New Free - 15
In the old market, with the same device, I can see:
Top Paid - uncountable number of apps...
Top Free - uncountable number of apps...
Just In - uncountable number of apps...
And this is just the photography category as an example.
I'd much rather have the choice to browse through a healthy amount of apps, then be limited to 57 apps total for the entire category, including all paid and free options.
How do they get to be "top" if no one can see them?
Again, not trying to be negative, but i'm unwilling to convert to the new interface if it means I can't really see any apps. Does this new version allow you to see more then just a few, or are you still limited to basically nothing?

You can't install over the market on the fly, unless you take specific steps to do so...just trying to install the .apk file will not work. I'll expand on this elsewhere - Link Here for the last market version from this thread and an explanation on how to make it.

The right way to do it is to install as an update through clockworkmod, so it all happens while the system is down. Doing it this way, you just have to wait a few minutes after the next time it boots to rebuild cache and the dalvik cache.
When you click your market app, it will ask you to agree to the terms of service. Any shortcuts to the market you have should be updated to the new icon and still in proper working order, even if they were in folders.
You're in luck, because I needed something to use as an example to teach someone standing next to me how to write their own updates for their phone. Since I did it for my own phone first, to show him how it all worked, now you have tested and working update packages for each app.
To install, download the one you want and get it to the main directory on your sdcard.
Reboot into recovery, then select 'install zip from sdcard' then 'choose zip from sdcard' and then whatever zip you downloaded.
Choose yes on the next screen and it will start the process. This script will get rid of the old market and install the new one, cleanly.
It's self contained, and clears everything you need to worry about, so you can just run it and reboot. Remember, though, your next boot will take a few minutes more then normal so just be patient and let it do it's thing. Try to give it a few minutes after it boots to let it sit and finish.
If you try to use your phone too quickly after this update, you will find some apps not to be installed and whatnot. Just wait for a few minutes - once the phone finds everything again it'll all be fine. The more apps you have installed, the longer this will take.
Enjoy your new market, and make sure to click thanks on Charlieb620's post at the top of the thread.
I really like the green one, green is my favorite color.

Whats the next best thing since theres no Custom Roms?

Like what do you guys do? Just get alot of Xposed modules and replace the laucher with a 3rd party one like Nova?
All I did personally was remove as much bloatware as possible, and use Apex instead of Touchwiz. Haven't gotten around to rooting it yet, it's good enough as it is.

Got a list? I heard disabling screensavers wasn't safe for example.
Currently uninstalled all Knox software as well as the Hancom Viewer software (have the full versions only) via Titanium Backup. In addition I froze:
Allshare
ANT
Backup
BlurbCheckout
Bubbles (screen saver)
Business Week
Cisco Webex
Emeeting
ELM Agent
Flipboard
FW Upgrade
Gallery (I use Gallery KK)
KLMS Agent
Magazine Widget
Music
My Magazine
Netflix
NY Times
Pagebuddy Notification Service
Remote Controls
Remote PC
Samsung Push Service
Sidesync (I'm using Mobizen instead now)
Software Update (no point in updates, will break root if I do)
Travel Wallpaper
Weather and briefing (I use 1Weather)
Tablet is solid without this stuff and its helpful to pull things off that would otherwise cache in the background. Taking some of that stuff off frees up space for other apps to cache instead.
Debloat's half the fun. Running Xposed modules helps too.
ActivityFoceNewTask
App Settings
BootManager
Complete Action Plus
CrappaLinks
CustomShare
Disable Clear Defaults Dialogue
Disable Location Consent
MinMinGuard
Secure Samsung Clipboard
Tinted Status Bar
View In Play
Wanam Exposed
Xposed REcent Tasks Ram
Youtube Adaway
Are among the modules that I'm running on my Note Pro.
Root apps that I have include:
Adaway
Chrome UA
GMD Gesture Control
Pen Window Manager
Pie Pro (for pie controls)
Rashr (to switch between recoveries)
Sixaxis Controller (to use a dualshock3 gamepad)
Titanium Backup
Wanam Xposed
Xposed Installer
Out of everything I think I like having pie and gesture controls the most. It really reduces the need to move my hand down to the home and capacitive buttons. Full screen app switching is a breeze with gesture control for example whereby I have set it such that a simple double tap using 4 fingers on the screen acts as an Alt-Tab between apps.
Agreed. Not much else you can do. Although, instead of Apex, I sideloaded the Google Now launcher.
Also, if you plan on using multi-window a lot, try using MW App Manager. It allows you to add many more apps to the multi-window function, which for some reason Samsung severely limits.
Mighty Text or any similar service is great with this tablet, too. Especially if you have a bluetooth keyboard.

This is my list for the note 10.1 2014, I disabled the same apps on the 12.2.
Regarding custom roms I don't really miss them. I have just disabled all the apps I dont need and gotten some xposed modules.
Bootmanager: Block apps from starting on boot
Cool Tool: ram usage, batt temp and cpu graph in statusbar
Wanam xposed
xuimod: animations, listview animations and overscrol animations
youtube adaway
I prefer being able to pick from xposed modules and kind of build my own rom.
Thanks.

If you're referrring to the hit/miss issue with CF Autoroot then yeah. I've successfully rooted two Note Pro's so I don't think its impossible.
My suspicion is that the firmware that is on the device at the time of root and the recovery thats installed during each step is critical but when I suggested that in the thread some tried it and said that wasnt the case. For both of my Note Pros I had run into the same issue with the cache image file getting stuck and for both I eventually got things to work playing around with the recovery versions and keeping Odin from auto rebooting the tab until i was sure i had the right recovery on there. Odd for sure.

Yeah I'm referring to the hit/miss, as well as some comments saying you need a specific version for your tablet (I have a Czech KOT49H.P900XXUANC4 with a specific CSC which I forgot because I don't know how to dial *#1234# on my tablet.
Also there's a lot of different suggested methods, first of all where people mention files but don't actually link to them, and second where I hear P905 users say it's working and P900 users say it's not.
So I'm just too uncertain to try this. So if I understand correctly, P900 rooters need:
* The specific stock rom for their tablet (Get that CSC code and find it on Sammobile?)
* A certain recovery (what's this, kinda like ClockWorkMod?)
* One of the different root methods discussed in this forum (CF one is only one that works with P900?)
* Odin (I need Windows for that, right? I'm on Linux. I can use Windows at a friend's place once I'm sure what to do.)
My previous tablets and Samsung Galaxy S2 could be rooted using only a MicroSD card and no computer. It was all so easy back then.

I just needed the stock recovery, I don't think you really need the stock firmware unless you want to start fresh. Also the stock recovery is literally the recovery that comes with the device hence the word stock, for some reason I needed to flash it so Odin wouldn't freeze at cache.img when installing the root.

[Q] YouTube Only up to 720p

All,
I wanted to try and compare the screen on my Note Edge to the screen on the LG G3. For testing, I decided to try to load up the same video in YouTube, simultaneously. I noticed the clarity was MUCH better on the G3 and was surprised. To verify the testing, I checked to see what resolution the video was running on both devices and discovered a big discrepancy. I chose a file that was recorded in 4K and found that the quality was set to 1440p (max the screen supports), but the Note Edge only gave the option to go to 720p...not even an option for 1080p. I did some Google searches to see if there was a setting I needed to adjust. Even after trying to install the latest version of YouTube from APKMirror, I cannot get the Note Edge to play anything above 720p. Is this a problem for anyone else? Any fix? If it were the same thing for both phones, I would just pass it off as a YouTube issue. Since I can get the higher resolution on the G3, however, I am wondering why the Note Edge will not. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE (Resolved):
This appears to be an issue more present with the Verizon model. After playing around with things today, I have been able to get the 1440 option to show up in YouTube on my Verizon model. Here are the steps I took to get it to work.
1) Go into the YouTube app and sign out.
2) Go into Settings>Applications>Application Manager>All and select YouTube
3) Clear Cache
4) Clear Data
5) Force Stop
6) Uninstall Updates
7) Turn Off
8) Reboot (*optional)
9) Install YouTube version 6.0.13 from here http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/
*Note: I tried the newer versions first, but it still only gave 720p as an option
10) Go into YouTube and try to watch a video that supports 1440p and see if it works (it did for me)
11) If it worked, go into the Play store and upgrade to the newest version (1440p still works for me)
12) If it did not work, try the steps again. I saw in another thread that it took multiple times for some people.
I hope this works for others. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

This is interesting as I was using the same internet connection for both devices and speed should not be an issue at all. I even tried my Samsung Note tablet and it also was able to play at 1440p. I will try again today to see if I have any better luck. Thank you for your response!
I would like to add that I have the Verizon Note Edge...not sure that matters, but wanted to relay that bit of information. Thanks.
I also have the Verizon Note Edge and only have 720p as an option. Even on WiFi.
I have the Tmobile Note Edge and I did a 4k video search on Youtube and was able to choose up to 1440p
sprint version , 1440 for me as well
Att can 4 k
I have tried with Att model with no issues
I have the Korean exynos version and mine is also limited to just 720p.

I tried your method but it didn't work. I did try several times as you suggested.
Those steps did not work for me either. I appreciate the effort though.

Did you try going through the steps multiple times? I know others have had to do it multiple times to get it to take. It may have only worked for me because I tried the steps 5+ times as I was determined to fix it ?
720 for me also and on verizon. I think those idiots did it purposely

Unfortunately for Verizon suscribers they dont have root thanks to locked bootloaders. Sprint is doing the "cut your bill in half event" along with paying ETF fees so better get into your nearest Sprint store Verizon customers lol

Please note I am on Verizon and was able to get the 1440p working in YouTube using the steps I posted. It may take going through the steps a few times, but I am no longer stuck with only 720p .

All features of the app are available for free, without any ads. If this app has been helpful, there's an option to donate via an in-app purchase. This does NOT unlock any new features. Thank you for your support.
Please do not mirror without permission. Link to this thread or play store page if you want to share this app elsewhere. So that users will know where to check for updates and get support from.
_
Important Information
A nandroid/Ti backup is recommended before trying the app.
Some devices/ROMs face a soft reboot when density is changed. There's a test in the app to check this. If density change indeed causes reboot, density is ignored in per-app profiles.
If your screen becomes unusable after setting a resolution, wait for ~15 seconds. It should revert to your default resolution.
If that does not work, reboot -> wait for 2 min (for the service to start) -> reboot again -> wait for service to start.
If that too does not work (I certainly hope that you won't have to do this), issue the following commands in adb shell (using a pc):
For JB 4.3 and above:
Code:
wm size reset
wm density reset
wm overscan reset
Below JB 4.3:
Code:
am display-size reset
am display-density reset
Also please note that uninstalling the app won't restore default display settings. So please switch the service off first, if you want to uninstall. Also tell me why you uninstalled it.

Thank you all for the amazing response! 10000 downloads at the end of 1 week! (XDA + bitly link)
Thanks to XDA Portal and Phone Arena, and other tech blogs, for featuring the app. It means a lot, to get this kind of exposure for one of the first apps of mine.
A bit of background
I have a Nexus 4, and it's display started to develop problems a few months back. The nav bar area stopped registering touches at all (though ghost-touches were experienced quite frequently). I managed with pie controls and similar apps for a while. But more recently, this area began to increase, and almost 50% of my screen doesn't respond to touch now. I was looking for a software solution to make the phone usable till I can replace the digitizer and screen of my phone. Then I stumbled upon an adb shell command, wm, which could do a temporary fix for my touch screen issues. I thought I'd make a GUI for the functionality offered by the wm command, and the end result is what you see in this thread.
What Next?
I'm planning to implement per-app profiles, and automatic density calculation for the next major version of the app.
Suggestions are welcome.

It does work in Lollipop. You can see that the screenshots are in fact taken in 5.1 Lollipop.
It should work with M too. I don't have a device to check that right now. Maybe I'll test it out in M emulator as soon as possible.

forgive my ignorance but is this just an easy way to change the (or what was) "ro.sf.lcd_density=XX" in the build.prop or is there something special to this? I realize there's more to it vs the build.prop edit, but it does kinda/sorta the same type of thing? not discrediting the feature...Just curious Thanks again!

Actually, it's an easy way to issue the adb command wm (or am before JB 4.3).
Check this SO question for more details on wm command: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18500611/android-how-to-use-adb-shell-wm-to-simulate-other-devices.
I started building this app because parts of my screen stopped working, actually. Then I thought, it could be useful more generally.

Just switch the service off using the switch in action bar. If your display has somehow become unusable, follow instructions in OP, under the heading "Important Information". If you have uninstalled the app, resetting can be done using the adb commands mentioned there.
First of all, Avast Mobile Security detects your app as suspicious and advises uninstalling it immediately. I hope there are no malwares
Btw, about the app, as soon as I gave it root access, my device hot-rebooted and got stuck in a bootloop. Then I switched it off and restarted it, device started optimizing all the apps (just like after fresh rom install). Everytime I open the app my device reboots
Device - Note 2 N7100
ROM - CM12.1

Um that's bad. Well, you are free to examine the source if there's any doubt. It could be because app requests root, or permission to get to know call state changes, so that when a call comes, display can be adjusted to default resolution (this behavior can be configured in settings).
As for the hot-reboot, I wonder what the problem is... Can you uninstall the app and try issuing these commands directly using adb, and see whether reboot happens then?
Code:
wm size WIDTHxHEIGHT
wm overscan LEFT,TOP,RIGHT,BOTTOM
wm density DENSITY
Replace the Upper caps words with required values.

Hey thanks for that! I'll definitely add this. Meanwhile, there are still some hard-coded strings in the app (like button texts etc), which I'll move to strings.xml, and update the project soon. Will it be asking too much to provide translations for those as well?

S7 Edge Android 7.0 (Nougat) Performance Guide

Some of this guide may apply to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) as well. I've honestly forgotten what 6.0 was like since I have been on the 7.0 beta for so long, but some of this is possible on the older software.
So the reason I decided to make this guide was because I recently almost sold my S7 Edge due to poor performance. When I first installed Nougat it was great, but over time the phone got worse and worse. I realize this is an Android thing in general, but it just got to be so annoying that I couldn’t ignore it any longer. I have a vanilla android tablet that flies and when I would switch back to the phone it was almost unbearable. This guide will help out significantly with that issue.
First off you'll want to enable "Developer options". Go to Settings > About device > and then tap on "Build number" 7 times to enable Developer options.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After that go back a page and scroll all the way to the bottom to find Developer options. Click that.
Once in Developer options scroll about 3/4 way down to find three entries that say "animation scale". Change all three entries to "0.5x".
Next we need to go to the Playstore and download an app called "Package Disabler Pro". Yes it's 2 dollars and yes you want/need it.
Before running the app download the .XML file I have attached to this post called "XDA.xml". Now go ahead and open the app and let it load. Next click the three dots in the top right and select "Import from xml". Select the xml file you downloaded from the previous step. This will disable some of the pre-installed apps that you don't need. I encourage you to look through this entire list and click on each item that you would never use, this will permanently disable that app from running or appearing in your app drawer. You can easily undo it at any time by clicking the apps name again (taking the check out of the box). Just to let you know I have 33 additional apps disabled other than the ones in the "XDA.xml" file, I have all kinds of stuff disabled that I don't use; gear vr, gear manager for watches, android pay (I use Samsung pay), S-voice (I used google dictation for everything). I really encourage you to go through and get rid of anything in there that you don't use, it will help the phone out a lot. Once you're done reboot the phone.
When the phone boots up go to the "Device maintenance" section of the settings menu. I at first ignored this section as I felt that it was gimmicky an unnecessary, but then realized that it's actually very useful.
First let’s go to "Performance mode". There is a ton of stuff you can do with this, but I am only going to address one of them. Click on "settings" and then "Screen resolution". Change it to 1920x1080 (FHD). You can always change it back if you really need something such as VR, but most of the time you will not be able to tell that there was a change in resolution.
Next go back to Device maintenance and select "RAM". This menu allows you to close out things from RAM that you don't want running. The problem with this is that Linux (Android) prefers to have apps stay in RAM instead of having to reload them each time you open them, so closing them is kind of counterproductive. Not only that but almost everything that you close from this menu will re-enable itself in the next few minutes anyway. This menu, like the "Battery" section, gives you a look at things which are running that you may not know about. I went through this list and uninstalled apps that I didn't even use so that they weren't just hanging around running without me knowing. A lot of the apps on this list were running and I never even opened them to begin with, that kind of bugs me. I got rid of the ones I could and then used Greenify (more on that in a minute) on the others. Any apps on this list that you for sure never opened, need to be added to Greenify (see next section for instructions) because they are running themselves and using resources.
Now for Greenify. Go to the playstore and download the "Greenify" app and follow the instructions to set it up. It takes a few steps to setup but you only have to do it once. Pay attention as some of the steps are a little tricky and they all must be enabled for the app to function properly. Once installed you will use Greenify to hibernate the apps that you found from the previous section (ram manager) that you don't want awake all the time. Some apps just run themselves without asking you first and sit there consuming battery. I would first decide whether you even need that app to begin with and if you do, then go ahead and Greenify it. Something to note here is that if you Greenify an app that NEEDS to stay awake to work, such as a chat program or music apps, they won't work properly. These apps are easy to spot because they have little blue "gcm" icons next to them, so be careful. To add an app to the "Greenify list" (auto hibernation) just hit the + button in the top right to start adding them.
Once you're done with all that, your phone should be flying. It's not even the same phone anymore really. One thing I want to point out is that the Samsung keyboard on Android 6.0 was trash. It was a completely unusable piece of non-working trash. The auto correct couldn't keep up with any reasonable typing speed, so no words would be corrected at all and you would be left with a mess of a paragraph. I solved that with Swiftkey originally, but for some odd reason it was never blazing fast on this phone. It caught every single mistake, but when you were typing there was just enough lag to kind of throw off your typing speed and it looked like crap. I am happy to say that on Android 7.0 the new Samsung keyboard is the best keyboard I have ever used. They FINALLY got it right after all these years. Honestly all of their keyboards have sucked. They could never seem to get them right, whether it was lag or just plain non-functioning auto correct, it was always something. This one is perfect and if you're using Swiftkey I would uninstall it as it continually reruns itself even when you force close it. It's also a resource hog, so if you don't need it, get rid of it.
There is it, you should be good to go with these small adjustments. A lot of you don't even have 7.0 yet, but when you do at least you will have a head start. There is nothing worse than paying $800 for the latest smartphone only for it to be a laggy mess. Hopefully this helps somewhat with that problem.
Good advice. I just got my S7E the other day. I was (am) so disappointed there is no root for this device. My other android is a note 4 and there is a huge development community, so that's what I've been used to for the past 2 years. I'm missing little things that you can do with root... Ad away for 1, and honestly 3minit battery and 3minit clock. Like I said little things.
And to be honest, the S7E doesn't feel "that" much faster than my Note 4. Which has got me scratching my head. It's faster but not the night and day difference I expected.
Well I look forward to nougat. And using these tips. Thanks!

I've disabled animations and disabled or removed bloat apps for years. I find I have to do a complete reset every couple weeks or so since being on beta. It gets HORRIBLE lag that no amount of cache clearing fixes.
PDP can actually ruin battery life as dependent apps are constantly running, searching for and not finding other apps they're tied to.

My phone has been amazingly smooth for 2 weeks now, night and day difference. I agree, if you get carried away with disabling packages it can be counter productive. I've gone through and just disabled anything I didn't recognize, like 200 things disabled LOL Yea getting carried away with that program can cause some serious problems. I only disable things that are clearly apps that I wouldn't use and a couple others that I know for certain are insane battery hogs like the tmobile carrier IQ service that logs your every action (I forget the name at the moment but it's disabled in my XDA.xml).

Force the app, and clear it's cache and data before disabling it. I was ready to deal with the root issues to Uninstaller a bunch of apps when PDP failed to extend my battery life, but someone in another thread suggested cleaning the app and it worked wonders for me.

Sounds like the right thing to do, but since we have no real backup of our ROM, what does one do if the changes made by this app are not to the liking of the user? How can this process be reverted back to prior of the making of these changes?
