Unlock s4 for free with hidden options - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

After samsung blocked the hidden service menu unlock for s4 i am bit worried .but today i found out new process to unlock for free in a website
Step 1: Launch the Phone app on your Galaxy S4, and dial in: *#0011#
Step 2: Press the Menu button followed by the Back key. Then, hit the Menu button again and select KEY INPUT. Enter 1 and press the OK button to enter ServiceMode.
Step 3: Press Menu one more time and tap back again. This will pull up the Main Menu for ServiceMode. Tap [1] UMTS.
Step 4: Now select [1]DEBUG SCREEN, followed by [6] PHONE CONTROL.
Step 5: From the next screen, pick [6] NETWORK LOCK.
Step 6: You’ll get three options. Hit the one that says [3] PERSO SHA256 OFF.
Step 7: Now, you need to get back to Main Menu. To do this, hit the Menu button followed by the Back key. In Main Menu, now pick [6]COMMON, and then [6] NV REBUILD.
Step 8: The phone will tell you that a Golden Backup exists. Tap [4] Restore Back-up.
Your device will now go through a series of “conditions”, where it will first freeze, then get on a black screen with Blue LED on and both capacitive buttons on, after which it will reboot automatically. The whole cycle might take a couple of minutes, so be patient. Once it powers back on, it’s network unlocked, permanently. Enjoy Folks ...

You didnt go back to the right menu I have the att s4 as well

mine won't do anything after entering 1 at key input :'(

This method didnt work for me. I have the i337m bell/virgin edition.

Just did it. Steps came through correctly, waiting for phone to reboot. Gonna need to find a SIM card to test but I'm definitely going to!
Also is there a possibility there might be a way to mess with the bootloader in this menu? This seems new and untested!

Oh it definitely works. I found the thread yesterday in the T-Mobile forums. Not sure why the OP didn't just link to that, which has clearer instructions that are easier to follow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068
Mine already had SHA256_ENABLED_FLAG[0] but I went through the motions (it stayed at SHA256_ENABLED_FLAG[0] after the next couple of steps) and did the NV REBUILD.
You can get a T-Mobile SIM at Wal-Mart or any T-Mobile store, just FYI.

ATT phone here.
I've done this, with a few minor diffrences. I had to use the *#9090# code, menu back 3x, then press 1 to get into the unlocked service menu. From there everthing went as described.
Now after reboot, if i go back, it's set to 1 again. There is no longer a gold backup as their was before. Am I unlocked or not? How can I tell ( i don't have another sim handy at the moment... )

Confirmed working o AT&T i337. Tmobile sim loaded right up. Changed bands an 4g up and running

This will work on the Htc Hero S and Should on the Design 4g. I have tested it on the Hero S and can confirm basic functions work, adb and along with backups. Otherwise I haven't tested anything more than that. Also to note while building this the Hero S is identical to the Design 4g. So kernels and recovery should interchange. Beyond that I am not sure as I haven't got that far.
Also please note I am aware of the so called other cwm build and the teamwin recovery. I can confirm as grad said teamwin also works on the hero s. How ever since you can't download the cwm build, I took it upon myself to build one. In which means this shares nothing in common and was built from my own source. Which you can tell by the 2FS in the tittle.
Sorry for the crappy pic but due to frame buffer issues getting it to display right. Screenshots are blurred in recovery.
What is added/done:
Up to date source of 5.0.2.7
Default clockworkmod 5 colors.
Built on the evo design 4g stock kernel.
Ext4 support for sdcard.
Other features I have not tested fully but welcome to feedback.
How to install:
Download one of the following files:
http://2fastroms.com/dm_eds/download.php?id=72
Md5sum: c9e731f8228524d29a3acbd7811ba81c
Once downloaded place the PH44IMG.zip on the root of your sd-card. Power down the phone, Hold volume down, pressing power. You should got to the h-boot screen where it will scan for the img file. It will prompt to update by pressing volume up. It will take a few secs to do it's thing prompting to hit power to reboot.
Once rebooted remove the PH44IMG.zip from your sd-card.
Credits:
Koush for his great recovery with out him it wouldn't have been possible.
Then the cm team just for putting some great stuff out
Confirmed working on the Evo Design. Many thanks to 2fast for porting this over!
No problem, I see you got the link to work. How ever I had to port it so I could have it
As unlike any other cdma phone between you guys and uscc. The hero s is identical down to the kernel and partitions. So worked out for the better
I'm having problems getting into hboot for some odd reason. I hold volume down and press power and the phone just boots up normally. What the heck am I doing wrong? This is such a noob problem to have. I'm embarrassed to ask, but I can't get it right to save my life.
lol Welcome to gingerbread sense. When you power down it doesn't truely power down. Pop the bottom off and flip the lever up to pop the battery out a bit. Then try it. If you still don't get to h-boot let me know.
Actually, I turned fastboot off in Settings > Power and it worked just fine after that.
I did get an error while trying to flash recovery. I believe it said CID incorrent. Updated Failed. Press power to reboot. I'm going to redownload recovery and try again.

I've had better luck booting into hboot by restarting the phone and holding only the vol down button as soon as the screen shuts off.

Are you unlocked? Also I wasn't aware of the fastboot setting it to off. How ever it is quicker to do a battery yank for myself or use adb. It is just a new feature of gingerbread.
Yea, I'm unlocked. Even says so at the top of the hboot screen. I had to do a battery pull like you suggested previous to get the token to work.

So this is a workable recovery for the design 4g? If so, what's really the point without any roms anyways?

Gotta start somewhere, bro. Now, we need kernel source and S-off to start making custom ROMs.

There are two alternate recoveries for this phone now. If the only thing you use a recovery for is installing ROMs, there isn't much of a point right now. Those of us who do kernel/ROM development and use the other features of the non-standard recoveries welcome them.

What is the point of being smart? Then who said roms don't exist? On another note as said you have a recovery to flash stuff. That or do it the hard way.
Hamp are you still getting the error? If so I will have to play with the .txt in the zip file. Though not sure why it won't work for you but did the other design.
Yes, I still get the same error. I found this. http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/21681-cid-incorrect-update-fail/
Not sure what to make of it, though.

That shouldn't be needed. I know the error though but confused why it flashed on the other design 4g and not yours. As I know it installs fine on the Hero and the one confirmed the Design. Which the cid shouldn't be different from yours to the his. At the top of you h-boot it does say unlocked right? If so inside the zip is a .txt in which the h-boot reads from. Which there is also a cid in it, so let me try to comment it out to see if it works.
How ever add me on gtalk at bk95ta391, since you have the issue and I don't. I will play with it and shoot it to you to try.

i rooted using the first version of frigid's tool right when it came out but i've been yearning for cwm and it's awesome to finally have it!
i'd be glad to test any ROMs or anything else that you come up with!
I can't sign in to Google Talk for some reason. Pretty sure I didn't remove anything related to that after rooting. I'm going to try a different SD card and see if that helps.
Edit: pretty sure I didn't do a sim unlock. I'll try it and see if that helps.

A guide to root the new ICS UVLH5 firmware update.
This guide will try and make it very easy to root your stock firmware for those of you who are having
problems or don't want to wait for a stock rooted rom
anyways here goes the step by step assuming that you have a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4g T769 and are on ICS
UVLH5 firmware.
Before anything of course you'll need the files and here they are:
ClockWorkMod Recovery
Blaze Pit
Odin 1.8.5 Zip
SuperUser Zip
After downloading all the files first move the Superuser.zip to the root of your sdcard..not internal sdcard but the removable one. Then unzip the Odin zip and once unzipped:
Step 1:
Run Odin 1.85.exe, and prepare Odin:
Check "auto-reboot", and uncheck all other options.
Click PDA and select the TAR for clockworkdmod you downloaded. Click PIT and select the Blaze PIT your downloaded.
DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU HAVE REPARTITION UNCHECKED
Step 2:
Connect the USB cable to your PC, but NOT your device.
Remove the battery.
Reinsert the battery.
Hold down Volume Up + Volume Down
Then while holding the voume keys plug in USB cable
You should now be in Download Mode
Step 3:
Make Sure repartition is still unchecked and click START in Odin.
Step 4:
When done the phone will reboot to the OS after this you have to reboot to recovery, here are a few ways.
1. adb command: adb reboot recovery
2. volume combo.
a. turn off phone.
b. hold volume + and volume -
c. while holding the volume buttons hold the power button for 10 seconds
d. after the 10 seconds release power button but keep holding volume buttons until you get into CWM recovery
Step 5:
Flash the SuperUser zip file
Step 6:
Reboot to System
Step 7:
Check whether root took or not.
Step 8:
If it did come back here and click thanks

you can. or download it. the important part is remembering whether its on your internal or external SD card when you go to flash it in CWM. as long as the MD5 is good, you're good as I figured out yesterday, my work computer messes with MD5's like a mutha******
I didn't expect to be able to do that so easily, but it all worked! Thanks much.
I had used the first stock root posted here, but didn't bother updating it to the minor patch that was released. I updated to ICS using Kies, knowing that I would lose root, and since my phone was rooted I was half expecting it to not work.
Well it did, and it almost worked too well. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't even lose any apps or settings in the process. I lost root of course, although surprisingly superuser is still loaded on the phone. (I've confirmed the phone is not still rooted)
Anyways, my memory is a bit foggy, but doing this process is a total wipe on the phone right? I might even prefer that.

honestly, as am i, as my reply had nothing to do with your post perhaps a lack of sleep, perhaps a miss click, idk. but I guess we never will
I wish I read this thread sooner.
Here's my situation:
I had a rooted Gingerbread stock ROM that I upgraded to the official ICS update using Kies. I then used the same ODIN method to root the phone and now it won't boot up past the "Samsung Galaxy S" loading screen. Any ideas on where to go from here? I'm afraid if I do anything else haphazardly, I would only be digging myself deeper into this hole.
Thank you!
You flashed a GB kernel on ICS. If I were you, I would flash a GB .tar using Odin (unless you can find an ICS .tar somewhere?). Then, boot into recovery and wipe system and data, because you'll see a blue ICS menu flickering in the background upon booting up into the GB phone setup screen. At least, that is what happened to me. Then, upgrade to ICS using Kies.

Recovery problems + simlock

Hello folks!
So, I got this HTC Sensation today which comes with ARHD v6.8.0.0. The phone came from UK and I'm in Portugal (if that makes any difference on this). The problem is that when I put my SIM card it says that the phone is locked. Ok, so I searched here ways to unlock it, but there is a problem. When I get into the bootloader I am not able to choose the recovery option, for some reason. I press volume down and it doesn't work. Not even, volume up or even the power button. It stays like the picture below and I need to take the battery off. Any ideas on how I can solve this? Plus, the phone is S-OFF, so shouldn't it be like simunlocked already?

Try again without the sdcard in pal. Assuming that solves your issue then look for the sim unlock thread but use a different sdcard.

It all depends on the sdcard tbh. Sounds odd but the more offical the better. Sometimes the bootloader won't register the sdcard unless it can read the cid of it, or the bootloader will loop waiting for it to load :-\ I've used official sandisk sdcards all the time and some work and others fail :-\ have you tried fresh formatts?
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
I have 2 sandisks and another one unbranded I guess. Format through PC? I can boot into recovery if I use ROM Manager but I can't get back into bootloader, it always get stuck in there...

Aye the PC should suffice. Also if you have your adb set up you can use adb reboot recovery .
I've also found that some phones just take there sweet time about reading the sdcard in hboot. Just give like 3 minutes and if it shows no signs of searching the sdcard then the sdcard is not good for the bootloader :-\
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
So the problem is the sdcard? WIth all the 3 sdcards, none of them will work? But I know, that the previous owner could go into bootloader and it worked nice. I don't see what's the problem here...
I'm trying to follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Is there any way to unlock the simcard without going into bootloader? Is that, I really wanna use the phone, otherwise it's gonna be useless...

The sdcards are fine enough for use with everything else bar the bootloader :-\ but that is the correct guide have you tried step one? And are you trying to put the sdcards in with the pg58img.zip / .nbh on it already? As you could try that and see how you get on, and then anytime you need to go to the recovery from bootloader then just take out the sdcard?
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
I did try step one mate, but I can't use it. And I did try to go on bootloader with the file on the sdcard... I don't know what else to do.

Hmm. What sizes are the sdcard? Also are you on ics firmware?

sdcards are 8GB each. How can check the firmware?
So, I updated to last firmware (3.33) and now I can get into bootloader but once I get there it starts loading for the PG58DIAG.zip but I don't have any file there with that name. Phone boots up normally tho, it's not in bootloop. I changed to SuperCID too and can't use my SIM card yet. Any ideas?

You need to drop to ginger bread firmware for the file to work. Also if you have the pg58diag.nbh you can simply zip the file with no compression and place it in the root of your sdcard. But make sure to name it PG58DIAG.zip in caps as that seems to help. And if you can see if you can get access to a 2gb sandisk to test with

Do I need to flash a GB firmware now? I tried what you say mate but it doesn't work... It gets stuck on bootloader saying SD Checking... Loading... [PG58DIAG.zip] and nothing happens. I'm starting to lose my mind
It stays like this...
So, I can't get out of there...no matter how much I try, it never finds the goddamn file. Any ideas??
The user solved his issue in the end by buying a unlock code after a downgrade to gingerbread firmware and the bootloader would not register the diag file.

Sorry for not updating, but that is correct. I got an unlock code and it worked. Flashed back to firmware 3.33 and ARHD 6.8.0.0 and all is working fine. But if I go on bootloader it still says that, it still tries to load that file even though I don't have any kind of those files on sdcard... Weird?

[Q] I bricked my Samsung Infuse

Did I completely hose up my Samsung Infuse?
All the phone will display is this:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.
Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
Nothing else - no recovery menu, nothing except the above message.
Samsung Tech Support says the Infuse is incompatible with Kies.
I was trying to updated the firmware to ICS.
Is there anyway to recover this phone???
Thanks
Carl

Note 3 ???
I contacted Samsung Tech Support and they say Kies does not support the Samsung Infuse.
Guess that is why when I enter SGH-I997 as the model # in Kies, it says its not a valid model #.
Wonder if Samsung is just abandoning the Infuse?
What I need is a procedure to do a complete Factory Reset where my Infuse phone does
not have any menu selections for download, etc. The phone will only display "Firmware
upgrade encountered an issue ..."
Yeah note 3 bought it yesterday.
As told u can flash it with odin,
Just download a factory firmware and flash it with odin or use heimdall.
Use this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523

I did try odin this morning. Odin reported success but the phone won't do anything.
I checked PDA and selected a Clockwork Mod (CWM) hoping I would get the boot menu but no go.
I had these checked: Re-Partition, Auto Reboot, and F. Reset Time.
Now that I think about it, should I have selected BOOTLOADER rather than PDA?
Phone this afternoon is at Best Buy where a Samsung Tech is looking at it.
I watched him work with it using Kies, etc and while there it was not fixed.
Carl
Got the phone back from Best Buy -- no joy.
Tried everything to un-brick this phone.
Did learn that Kies is not compatible with Samsung Infuse.
There might be a setup with Odin that will unbrick it but I really think its going to take some
other software because apparently data is not being placed in the phone.

THAT DID IT -- Thanks very much, I have my Samsung Infuse working now.
Those files worked perfectly with ODIN -- I did choose the rooted one.
What confused me was that my Samsung Infuse screen had only this on it:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.
Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
BUT, when you provided me with those tiles above and I setup Odin
to use files for PIT, PDA, and PHONE, a blue progress bar started
appearing just below that "Firmware upgrated encountered ..." message.
Thanks much.
Carl

After the fresh reload, I noted that the phones Android OS works much speedier.
Before I go try again to install ICS, is ICS on the Infuse slower?

I read over the thread for ICS but I could not find a download link for the Samsung Infuse.
Is the download in another thread?
Like to make sure I use the one from a reliable source like you.
Thanks again.
Carl
I found these Jelly Bean files:
BeanStalk4.3.00-20130811-infuse4g.zip
gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
BUT, when I try to boot ICS in Recovery, all that is displayed is ...
GALAXY S
cyanogen (mod)
... and nothing else happens.
I had to remove the battery to get the phone to work again.
I tried to enter Recovery by selecting the Reboot Recovery and also tried
holding down both Volume Up/Down and the Power buttons but they only
resulted in the GALAXY S screen.
Any advice?
Thanks

if its an att phone then yes a sim card from them, to rule out sim card socket problems you would need to test it with an att sim card or which ever the phone was locked to
att unlock code sucks
Going to have to try this. The code I got from ATT as others have said didn't work on my phone. Not sure if it is because of the DU ROM or what... This seems like a simple try!
