[Q] no internet- cm nightly builds p5100 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I have a Samsung Tab 2 10.1 P5100 on the cm-10.1-20130513-NIGHTLY-p5100.zip after following the instructions-
1. Wipe Cache Partition followed by Wipe Dalvik Cache
2. Install cm zip
3. Install gapps
I have no internet data or wifi anymore. I see that the network of my provider Optus is found with full bars same with my wifi connection looks connected. Cant use a browser etc...
Any ideas why this would be??
any help would be appreciated.
many thanks in advance
PS- i also tried installing some latest versions of nightly and still the same result

try updating ur tab with new firmware
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p5100&type=nightly
hit thanks, it matters:good::good:

thanks for the tip, although i have tried multiple roms.
The data icon picks up my mobile provider which is good however its the 3g data that is not working. Basically i have no 3G data working on this rom.

Is the whole internet is not working or just 3g?
Open the quick setting bar and make sure the 3g is activated
Go to settings>in wireless and networks click more...>then click on mobile data and make auire its active
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app

You missed a crucial step.
WIPE DATA FACTORY RESET

the whole internet is not working on 3g. It only works on wireless. I have checked the APN settings and i can see that it has picked up my telco provider. And i also did a Wipe Data Factory Reset.
Any ideas?

[Q] cm9 and aokp issue

anyone having problems with thier data after flashing these 2 ics roms
Giving more detail other than anybody having data issues will get people to answer.
Explain what is happening or not happening.
im working on that right now
I had problems with this previously - data was working right after I flashed CM9, then it stopped. IMEI was fine, and the phone recognized Tmo as the provider - just no data.
Here's what I did to get data working again - go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks > Access point names. Hit the menu button and select Reset to default. See if that helps you out.
Guys there is an Q/A thread

one more thing do you have to boot into recover and mount data and efs after every reebot to get the data working and also does it take a sec for you to get a signal

You should not have to do that. Plus those are two different animals. Your service data is just internet. Data that you mount in recovery is all the stuff on your phone in a folder labeled data.
alright thanks again man i was freaking out so much because of this do you think they are gonna make fufture updates to fix this?

Heres the deal, if this is a issue head over to github and report the issues. Be detailed and provide logs, max, bhundven and others will see the report and address the report. This is the only real way to make sure issues are getting addressed.
Has anyone had problems trying to use the market without wifi because every time I try to download something I get a no connection error but I can use the internet without wifi
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
That sounds like a problem with the wifi service you are using.
No I'm saying without the wifi being connected I can download stuff from the market and my data keeps going in and out

yeah, so check your wifi provider.
Also,
if you are having awkward issues, then wipe data.
When I started CM9 the first time, this is what I did. wipe, data, cache, system, boot from CWM, then flash CM9, then factory reset from TWRP.

WiFi and Data Network bars not showing

Total noob here.
OK so I am running the newest release of beanstalk. (March 1)
As you can see in the screenshot, I am connected to my home WiFi network, but the WiFi icon in the status bar is blank. I have tried reflashing the ROM.
I am still able to access the internet, and there are no related problems, just the icon. I may have accidentally changed some settings, but I don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
i would say there probably is a setting for this. There was one in the last carbon build i was running. Check your settings
Here's the settings for signal on beanstalk.
There are some workarounds to this problem... I can use the text icon rather than the bars... Also for data network I can use the GB style (which does actually indicate how many bars I have)... However I would prefer to use the jb style bar, and not text.
Did you wipe completely before installation?

Well I just full wiped and reflashed and it started to work fine. Currently running March 11 release. Sometimes when it comes up blank, I open up the quick setting tiles (2 finger pulldown), and then check if it shows up on there. If it does, I retract the notifications and it usually shows up. I reboot system ui if it doesn't work and that fixes it.
Also, I was able to call and text.

[Q] Bricked Mobile data

Hello guys, i have Samsung Galaxy s3 mini GT-8910N. The mobile data was working properly, until i tried to Format all my modem, data , system and to put Original Firmware. The problem is that i Can't get Mobile data Connection with any configure, and any Sim Card. I am Looking and trying all the Threads around Internet, still not use... Maybe there are some kind of Flashing tool, to flash The modem inside my phone?? Any ideas ??
Everything else works. Just Internet data does'nt.
Go into settings manage application click all find data app and click force close and then clear data . If this dosent work try restoring the phone to factory setting amd if it still dosent work flash stock rom again .

No mobile data Connection with correct APN

Hello,
I am using my OnePlus One (64GiB) several days already but today i expierenced a total no data connection. It connects to WiFi and uses the Internet with no problems but if it comes to the mobile data connection it can't connect to the Internet while I have full network shown on the upper right corner. I can call and send SMS with no Problems. This Problem appeared just today and i called my service provider and they say that there is no problem with there network availability and I should check my APN settings which I checked and they are correct. Then the customer consultant said it could be my phone.
I inserted a SIM card from another service provider but it also does not connect to the mobile Internet connection.
So it seems to be that there is some faulty settings on my phone or even an defect. How can I fix that?
Thanks in Advance.

That's strange! It seems like a very random glitch then, which often seem to fix themselves as randomly as they occur.
Have you tried rebooting your device, turning off/on data? Also, in Settings>Mobile Network Settings, is your preferred network type set to LTE, or the highest that's there?

Ok, and the "Data Enabled" checkbox in Mobile Network Settings is checked? And you are positive APN is all correct?
If yes and yes, then I'm not sure what could be the problem, considering how it WAS functioning previously. I would just suggest to keep rebooting and fiddling with the Network settings, such as turning off/on data, verifying APN settings, checking Network Operator, making sure SIM is properly inserted, etc.
I wish I knew exactly what was wrong, but I'm not sure.

A factory reset was my last option. Thank you this did fix it.
Did you resolved? I've same problem. Factory reset didn't work for me!
Hi,
I have the same problem. I only had the phone for three weeks now and two days ago internet stopped working in the middle of browsing/watching you tube video. Did not start since even though I've tried several methods (except factory reset, as I want to leave that one as last resort.
Is there any other way than factory reset to fix it ?
Do you all have franco kernel installed?
Need help
I lost the internet connect when I installed CM12 Nightly -> thought it was a bug in the ROM and sorta lived with it.
But when I reverted to 11-S I realized that the internet connection didn't work on that rom either. I've tried everything factory reset - Soft/Hard - reset -> flash other rom's on it. EVERYTHING!!! -> I also tried a couple of different SIM-cards none of them worked, I tried to contact my ISP, they couldn't help me, they said I had all the right settings so it's most likely something with my phone...
I've got no idea on how I can fix it. and would love if anyone could help me sort this problem out -> I don't have any important data on the phone so we can reset it as much as needed...

I did ask One Plus about it, they send me this zip (re-uploaded) http : // www . mediafire . com / download / rmuaie7f8ch5dji / ONEPLUS % 2BONE - StockRecovery - Windows . zip
(can't post links yet) which I then ran to fix the problem. just be aware of that it locks your bootloader again, if you don't want it to lock your bootloader edit the .bat files and delete the line which says "fastboot oem lock" and you should be good to go (worked anyways for me).
Thanks a ton this really was Helpful.. I guess OnePlus One has a glitch 11.1 and now also with 12.1 CM.. Will try Factory Restore and will update.. Same thing happen with my Frnd in India.. who switch between SP's. He had to restore to fix the internet issue.
I have had the same problem on one of my oneplus 2's. One phone works fine. The other phone was working but is not connecting to Internet using data connection. I have checked the settings and they are exactly the same as the other phone which is working fine.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 11 nightlies wifi issues

Hello,
I'm new to posting on the forums but here is my issue. I am currently running cyanogen snapshot M4 and I tried to upgrade to the new nightlies. (the other builds m5 and m6, crashed when i did a reboot) The issue with the nightlies is that everything is fine except the wifi. When I enter my wifi password and press connect, it says connecting... for a long time and just resets and continues this in an endless loop. Although open wifi networks work fine. Is there a fix to this? (Currently running CWM-touch recovery on my Moto g)
Using M6+ nightly, wifi is fine...

I can't comment directly about your problem since I had no problem with using any of the builds that I tried but, wifi works on M6 and later nightlies for me.
Did you try a full wipe before re-flashing?

Is a full wipe = a factory reset and cache wipe/davlik wipe through clockwork mod. Also M5 and M6 crash when I do a reboot saying com.google.systemui is not responding. I think it has something to do with the themes. But the nightlies work fine except for the wifi. I can connect to open networks with the nightlies but secured networks do not work.

Philz recovery has a specific wipe-in-preparation-for-flashing-rom option (forgot what it's called). Anyway, a full wipe will wipe system/data/cache partition if memory serves.
Try setting a static IP and connecting to a secured network that way (i.e. no DHCP). I read about a bug in an unofficial CM11 M10 build that meant DHCP-with-WPA2 didn't work. Might be a workaround.
Edit: The static IP needs to be in the address range of the secured network you're trying to join for this to work
