My first answer to any of this kind of question is factory reset. Another good option would be to looking into CM ROMs, or even LC's ICS ROM.

Factory reset? No no no...the default answer should never be straight to factory reset!
OP...are you rooted? If so which rom are you currently using?
I got your 10 char right here

Factory reset is your last option if you have an unrooted stock ROM. And if you have a custom ROM it is not even an option. OP, follow through with cwhitney24.
I'm just guessing, but it sounds like something that uses only mobile data is always on. Sometimes an app may not close right and hang it up. Try rebooting and see if it still does it.
I had this happen to me once with my home wifi. I ended up having to make the phone forget my remembered profile, scan, and setup again. Not sure what caused it, but it hasn't happened again.

So I have cm7 and cwm. I cannot send mms/sms while wifi is enabled. I havent tried calls yet but i will in a second. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue?
Did you do a full wipe and install the rom???
I have a similar problem but opposite from yours. I can only receive SMS/MMS when I'm connected to wifi but I was using cm9/ics rom.

I full wiped about 10 times now and it still hasn't worked. swapped sim cards too but that didn't help.
Redownload the rom...People are having problems with that
Yeah I did everything right! I just reset it and the problem went away. So I'm good now.

I'm telling you it's one of two things, either your Baseband is outdated or APN gets lost. Next time it happens, and it will, check your APN... Settings > Wireless Networks > Mobile Network > Access Point Names... guarantee you it'll be blank. yahtzee. Good luck.
I did check for that when it happened and it actually wasn't. I had a similar issue with the iPhone 4. Unlocking those phones were a pain in the butt. You had apn issues, mms issues, you needed a special sm card, etc. So checking the apn, was a thought that did register initially. Not to undermine what your saying but I don't think I will happen again.
so I've tried full wiping, wiping cache, dalvik cache, downloading and reflashing the rom, checked my baseband which is july 15, checked APN settings which was already set and its still not working. Any other suggestions or was it just not meant to be for my phone -_-

No worries man I hear ya... just making sure you checked that. What ROM are you on and what kernel? You can also use logcat and check for any errors related to Kineto.

Are you on an ICS ROM 4.0.x? If so theres an additional formatting step you need to take. Make a full back up first and I'd even save a copy on to PC just incase (also backup your 'recovery' image in CWM folder). You need to do the usual full wipe stuff, PLUS you need to format /system. Then flash ROM.... Moints and Storage > /format system. Be cautious and read more into this.

Let me try to explain... Tmob US rooted new HTC one S.. Running trick Droid 4.3..
For some reason I have I will not be able to connect to data. The indicator still says connected sometimes I see the 3g up arrow go solid. Other times it trys to send some stuff on HSPA but does not work.
I have done the research.
I have flashed the latest radio. TMOB one not EU
I have reinstalled rom with full data, cache and dalvik wipes.
I know there is some sort of radio problem from HTC.
But this problems happens a many of times a day and there is no indication when it is broken until you see that there is no notifications and / or you go to use your data connection.
The only fix that I have found that works is to turn the mobile network off then back on....
Stats: 4.03, Baseband 0.16.31501s.16_2_10.22.3150s.10L, Build number 1.78.401.2.cl58751 Kernel 3.0.8-01136.....
What is the best way that someone has found to fix this....
Thanks in advance...
Look in the forum for the fast dormancy fix.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
I have tried many things and still have the same problem...
Attempts:
- New Micro sim not one that was cut down.
- New Rom (TrickDroid 6.1) Full wipe, cache, dalvik
- Fast Dormancy comes as a tweak in Trick Droid. Did not help.
- Update the radio to the latest one for tmobile.
Now sometimes I also cannot make a call or get a incoming call.
The fix is to put the phone in airplane mode then turn airplane mode off.
Has anyone else seen this.....
What is a way that I can diagnose / debug....
I would reformat sdcard, maybe even with sdformatter--copy to pc first and have nandroids on pc too
Wipe System 2x if you don't already
Try Axiom or LeeDroid

Don't have that answer--sorry
If all this OP mentioned is done including the ones I listed, there may not be a solution atm--barring return/exchange. I have never had the wifi issues, so not sure why some do and some don't--
Well I am trying everything now..
I will update soon.
I am re-installing TrickDroid 6.1. (Fresh Download) (Tmob version S4)
- Wipe cache, Data, system
- Format sdcard, data, system, cache (This is the first time I have ever formated sdcard)
- Did wipes and formatting more than once.
- Made sure that I format everything...
- Made sure boot.img is correct. by downloading and re-flashing
- New Micro sim from Tmob - NOT one cut down....
- Made sure all data from SD card is gone...
Once I get back up and test it out some more I will let everyone know if it worked...
I am not sure what is the problem... Maybe something was left on the sdcard???

Well,
I have to say it is a little better but it not fixed.
I cleared everything as seen above.
Now I only lose my connection maybe once a day.
I am not sure what to try next.
I see HTC released to source for the HTC One S.
So maybe the next version will have some other improvements that will fix this problem

Giving more detail other than anybody having data issues will get people to answer.
Explain what is happening or not happening.
im working on that right now
I had problems with this previously - data was working right after I flashed CM9, then it stopped. IMEI was fine, and the phone recognized Tmo as the provider - just no data.
Here's what I did to get data working again - go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks > Access point names. Hit the menu button and select Reset to default. See if that helps you out.
Guys there is an Q/A thread

You should not have to do that. Plus those are two different animals. Your service data is just internet. Data that you mount in recovery is all the stuff on your phone in a folder labeled data.

Heres the deal, if this is a issue head over to github and report the issues. Be detailed and provide logs, max, bhundven and others will see the report and address the report. This is the only real way to make sure issues are getting addressed.

yeah, so check your wifi provider.
Also,
if you are having awkward issues, then wipe data.
When I started CM9 the first time, this is what I did. wipe, data, cache, system, boot from CWM, then flash CM9, then factory reset from TWRP.

I just recently flashed 4.4 custom CM 11 ROM with a clean install, followed the instructions by updating the firmware, then flashing the ROM and GAPPS, then setting up the phone, then returning to recovery to flash the Kanged apps. There is no Phone app, though when I say "Ok, Google" and tell it to call a contact, it works, and asks what app to use by default (Phone, Skype). When the call began, no app opened, it was my home screen, though the call went through.
Is this a problem with the Kanged apps or what's up?
Edit: I just wiped cache and dalvik cache, re-flashed the PA Gapps [not the Kanged] and still no phone app. Can someone link me to the GApps they used that worked well? Maybe its just a faulty DL.

Click ROM Downloads, Using the 12/25/2013 (uploaded the 26th) one, as it was said to be the most stable. If you know of a more stable release (I'm looking for working bluetooth and gps, messages and phone) let me know. I'll edit this after checking the system folder.
Edit: Under system/app/ there is a "TelephonyProvider.apk" that has the same picture the Phone App would have. Trying to open it prompts me with installing an update, titled "Phone/Messaging Storage". Attempting to install it gives no results, and just says it wasn't installed.

Yeah, it had been stuck and I actually failed to wipe system the first time. Did it this time around, and its booted up, with a phone app! The question I have for you now: Is flashing the "Kanged" apps worth it? What does it add? What does it break? I've seen some posts claiming it breaks things, I've seen others saying it works fine. What's your experience with it? Other than that, thanks a ton! Can't wait to get this buddy settled in!

The Kanged gapp is fine, but the newer version, for some reasons it's not working well with some of the app. The one I gave you is pretty much ok with most of the rom. At the end they should be all the same function and the question is which one will work with most of the rom. There is no advantage from one to the others.

OK, I'm not on the rom that you're using, but if I remember correctly, it should be in settings->security-> slider targets and shortcuts -> enable the Eight slider targets then tab on slider targets, you will see the lock on your screen, hold down on the lock and slide to any position on the circle, an app menu should popup, here you can select what app you want to launch for the position. Repeat the same for other positions. You have up to 7 apps to launch from the lock screen, the last one is to unlock.
