[Q] Stock JB Open Recovery (TWRP) Image? - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

Can anyone post a stock JB recovery image? It would be a very easy way to restore system to stock, RATHER than using RSD Lite..
And yes, I do apologize for polluting the threads if that what this is, however RSD Lite WILL NOT recognize my device anymore (and trust when I say that I have no way of making it happen short of reinstalling Windows)!
A link to a fresh, purely stock JB recovery taken right after and update from a wiped ASA14 system would, I'm sure, help out many users on this site.
If anyone has a recovery image and is willing to share with the community please post. Thank you in advance.
From The Q Of Course!

If you can use fastboot (IE the computer detects the phone while in fastboot mode), I'm betting RSD will still work.
So RSD not work? You don't really seem interested in fixing it tho... I seriously doubt a full reinstall of Windoze is necessary .
Anyhoo, I guess I can upload my system image from stock 4.1.2. Give me a minute.
Edit - or a few.

Hi still new at this I had to reinstall my drivers to get RSD to recognize my device hope this helps

Trust me when I say that I have done EVERYTHING...Moto Device Manager, Moto 5.9.1 Developer Drivers, uninstalled hidden devices in Device Manager, etc, etc, etc...
So, ADB and Fastboot are functional, AND I've even tried Moto-Fastboot as well.
Like I stated, easiest way for me and others would be a stock JB recovery image to flash.

If you can fastboot, worse comes to worse you can do all the commands manually. If you look at the XML file, it is just passing fastboot commands to the phone... So you can do everything RSD does manually thru fastboot.
RSD just scripts it all for you.

Well, all the files except for the system.img.ext4
This requires the system be flashed in multiple parts (multiflash). Fastboot is not able to do this, and I've also tried Moto-Fastboot which is purported to be able to. It is not possible to multiflash with Fastboot or Moto-Fastboot (RSD must have some script or utility that handles multiflashing of .ext4 partitions. If so than that would seem why using fastboot manually does not work). I've tried using Administrator privileges on windows with both fastboots and even with a persistent root shell on Linux. Trust me, it's not possible. I guess you could always decompile the ext4 system image in some way, and throw it back together as just a system.img and then use fastboot, but that seems rather extensive and beyond my skill level (at the moment).

You're fastboot flashing the files from the FXZ right? Because I only see a system.img in there... which you should be able to fastboot flash no problem.

That's handy information there, thanks! I'm on Linux, and I can't get RSD Lite nor Odin (Samsung's RSD equivalent) to recognize a device is connected when I try to use them.

Extract it to some folder on your device and select nandroid restore

Actually, I think you need to put nandroids in ./OpenRecovery/nandroid/ (internal, or external), if I remember correctly.

Thanks - makes sense. The unzipped files werent showing up in the nandroid option so I figured I need to put them in the folder.

Just an FYI - That nandroid got stuck on the "Sprint" boot screen.
Could have been my particular device or flash - disclaimer.

These appear to be the Sprint Stock ROMs but it looks like they are missing some things (namely the bloatware and ringtones, notifications).
Can someone upload a COMPLETE Sprint Stock ICS and JB Rom that we can flash in recovery please? I can't seem to find these working roms anywhere.

i second this, i just now won a epic battle for the sake of updating my prl/profile so my phone app would would work with CM12. it was ridiculous how i followed so many paths correctly and kept running into random issues every time. But why is it that u need a untouched stock rom exactly? i would be more than happy with a twrp flashable stock rom that doesnt overwrite my custom recovery. Wouldnt mind bloatware removal and cpu optimizations on it either lol.

All I could find is that custom roms don't support profile/prl updates. Also I don't believe the Sprint dialer codes (assuming you are using Sprint or Sprint MVNO) are supported either since technically, the custom rom isn't a "Sprint" rom. So all of that support basically goes out of the window. What several users do is just make a backup of a Sprint ROM and their Custom ROM and switch to stock whenever they need to update.

I was able to use this almost stock sprint rom to do the prl/profile update. The on screen back/home/recent app keys dont pop up but u can just use it to update prl/profile and flash to your rom of choice afterwards. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139547

No problem. Just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650 and read the section on how to flash the FXZ. make sure to look at the bottom part where it tells you to replace some files. you will need to do that. Instead of using the ATT FXZ file like they say use the one that matches your current version (SEARET I think you said) and follow the same directions, but use that file instead. Get if from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php

can i should replace some file in above zip? because my phone is 2.3.6
Code:
How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5, ONCE YOU UPDATE TO THE OTS 2.3.6 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FLASH THE 2.3.5 FXZ WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS BELOW!!
NOTE: Download this file HERE -
Unzip it and move all the the items in it to the stock fxz. You might get a warning about replacing files, just click OK. NOTE that Windows might not be able to handle the size of the fxz. I have 6 GB RAM but Windows still wasn't able to perform a drag-and-drop through the fxz's zip. I recommend that you just unzip the fxz and then put the files in. (You don't have to rezip it either, RSD Lite will still recognize it and will flash faster).
You should be able to use RSD Lite to flash the file.

Yeah, I was being stupid. Was the phone originally ATT when you bought it, or was it indian. that makes a big difference. you need to know what it said under settings > about phone.
anyways this should fix it, just use which ever fxz is right (from my post in the noob thread:
just thought of an easier way to get you restored. Most of the time you only really need to do system. download the moto-fastboot utility (it's similar to normal fastboot but you MUST use it instead or it will not work) and the fxz for your region. Extract the fxz and put the system.img from it and moto-fastboot in the same folder. open a command prompt in that folder (hold shift and right click) and type
Code:
moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img
moto-fastboot.exe erase userdata
obviously you need to have your phone in fastboot mode to do that. it does the exact same thing as rsd, just only the 2 important steps, flashing system and wiping data.)
Let me know how that works for you. It may not since you have had flash failures, but we'll see.
moto-fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=635584&d=1308928440 you should actually extract it and put all the things in it in the folder with system.img

Flashed my atrix 2 and fastboot fail
I bought my atrix 2 from US and unlocked it and am using this in india now. I tried to flashboot the phone with "5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET_cfc.xml". I added the new files thats available in the noob called replace.zip. I also tried the moto fast boot. Now am not able to flashboot and when i run flashboot i get this error "failed flashing process. 11/21 flash ebr "ebr"-> Phone returned fail; Phone connected" .
Please help me.
I just got my ATT Atrix 2 and I think I've already bricked it, soft at least. I used a script to go from 2.3.6 back to 2.3.5 stock, then OTA to 2.3.6, then I flashed the ICS leak and flashed SCV7, it was running horribly, kept crashing and was being extremely unstable so then I tried to use the FXZ script to go from ICS back to GB, and all my phone was doing was showing the Motorola dual core screen and boot looping or just staying on that screen I couldn't tell. I can get into fastboot, when I try to get into recovery there is an icon of a box with an arrow coming out of it and a little android and a yellow progress bar and when that finishes it goes to fastboot and it says "AP FastBoot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure) what can I do?

The battery is low going by my luck I'm going to assume the phone will not charge while in fast boot. I've been at this for way too many hours, if someone could tell me how to get this phone working I'd appreciate it.

HTC Status AT&T rom 2.14.502.2

Here it is for those who need it. I needed it to flash my phone back to stock. The update that was pushed out recently would not work on my rooted phone because I was using a UK rom when I rooted it so I need a stock ('merica) AT&T Status rom that no one seemed to have for any reason. I found the latest update on the HTC website and downloaded their installer, and that failed too. It wouldn't authorize... So into the trash InstallShield exe I went a digging and riped this out of the .cab
I used fastboot to flash the userdata.img, system.img, boot.img and recovery.img to my Status. Rebooted and did a factory reset. SUCCESS. :good:

"HTC Status™ for AT&T ROM Update | 05.3.2012
Starting May 3rd 2012, HTC will be rolling out a system update for the HTC Status.
This update will only be available for AT&T HTC Status customers and will be sent to the device over the air. Once the release is ready, users will receive a notification on their device advising them of this update and provide instructions to receive and install it. Users can proactively check for this update by going to Home > Menu> Settings > AT&T Software Update > Check for updates.
As an alternative solution, the system update can be downloaded to a PC and manually applied to the device. See the section at the bottom of these instructions for more information.
This system update includes:
Memory allocation fixes to improve low memory issues
Data throttling fix"
So the device is unrooted again?
Did they really solve the low memory issue?

Please tell me how to download and flash the rom, thanks.

My device is now unrooted and I don't really see a reason to root it again. I also never ran into the low memory issue so I can not answer that question. I'll pm you the link...
thanks

SUCCESS. :good:

First I used Universal Extractor to extract the files properly from htc_status_mr_update_2.14.502.2_us.exe, because of it being an Install Shield installer. Once it extracted the files in the correct structure I then had to use ZIP Scan on the data1.cab file because Install Shield uses its cab format and very few programs can export them correctly. Once you extract data1.cab you will have all that you need.
hi again
i really want to thank you for your help, the phone was stuck at cmw (s-on) and now its back, but i think that as your post, i should have flashed, userdata.img before, and i did it boot.img then system.img and then i could not flash the userdata.img but the phone turned on finally.

Xoom bricked

Hi there everyone,
I have a huge problem. Last night i bricked my xoom. I was following a tutorial on this forum. and after unlocking the bootloader it told to flash a file called boot.img after doing so and typing fastboot reboot, the device wouldnt start behind the motorola logo. i tried allot of thing and also did flash some other stock android 4.0.4 boot.img files now with the last one mentioned i managed to get the xoom (wifi) to boot a little further. because the ripple movie with the motorola logo is shown. but it stucks at that movie.
Does anyone know if i can flash an image on the xoom that will atleast fix the problem of not rebooting so i can try another tutorial.
I have searched the internet for solutions, many of them linked to threads on this forum. but almost all download links in these tutorials are old and broken.
Can someone please help me unbrick my device? And maybe a link to a good working unroot tutorial for my xoom wifi with android 4.0.4.
Try get back to Stock.
Download from HERE
and do some OTA updates afterwards so everything will be up to date.
Then wipe and try again from scratch..
Worked for me perfectly just a few days ago.
If you can still get into fastboot, then its not bricked.
Get some stock images and flash them via fastboot and you'll be fine.

Indeed it worked. i downloaded the official images and flashed them im on android 3.0.1 again and all seems to work just fine now.
Next problem is i cant find a descent tutorial on this forum how to root the xoom. all download links are either removed due to copyright issues or the links are just broken.
How does it work actually?
1. I unlocked the boot loader wich is very easy.
but then? Do i need to flash a rooted image over the existing? i dont really understand how this works. I rooted my Desire HD with a good tutorial in minutes. Not many people seems to really know how to root the Xoom.
Also i would like to know if the different tutorials are for different android versions or can i aply all tutorials of rooting when i stay on android 3.0.1?
I also tried to flash a recovery.img to the recovery partition and press volume down 3 seconds after the moto logo apears but when i do i get an android robot with a big " ! " on his belly and it takes 5 minutes to load the menu. when im in it tells me there is no sdcard present when i try to flash a rooted rom (zip file).
Is there someone reading this thats willin to explain to me how to do a root the easiest way? Please if links are posted be sure everything on that thread is working. Im pretty sure i will pull it off with some push in the right direction.
Thank you!
(edit) omg im stupid, offcourse the sdcard wont work... it never worked at 3.0.1. on the xoom. can i follow this tutorial:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/451-how-to-root-the-wifi-only-xoom-301/
Could someone read over it and see if this is a good tutorial? last time i flashed a boot.img the whole xoom got stuck... is that because i had the wrong boot.img on the wrong android version? or should boot.img always work?
Do you plan on flashing to a custom rom after rooting? If so, you can just skip rooting altogether.
I say this because I'm not particularly familiar with that rooting method you linked (though reading through it, it makes sense, all its doing is pushing the necessary files for root access to the xoom via adb). I used a rooting script flashed through a custom recovery over a year ago - unfortunately the download link seems to be broken (I might have a copy at home).
So there's a few things you can do:
1. If you just want a custom rom - download the rom zip file and store on your device. Flash TWRP (my preferred recovery) in fastboot. Boot into TWRP and flash the rom zip file.
2. If you want stock OS root access -
a) Follow those steps you linked and see what happens. If things go wrong, you should be able to just flash those stock images again.
b) Wait for me to get home and see if I have the root script. You'll need to flash a custom recovery though in order to use it.

Ok thanks for your answer. Ill try to unroot with that method flashing directly to the recovery.img i also know now what i did wrong. i flashed the recovery.img not to the recovery partition but to the boot partition LOL. thats why the xoom didnt boot anymore
I see allot about Nightlies Eos, 4.1.1. is that a good rom? Does it look like the stock version?
eos 4.1.1 is simply awesome and its also pre rooted' so your bootloader is unlocked, all you gotta do now is install twrp recovery via fastboot ( my preffered recovery) then flash eos via recovery

EOS is a pretty AOSP rom. No theme, though you can apply one if you like and change a few colors. There are various toggle additions you can add that make the user experience much better. It also comes with an overclockable kernel and is very very stable (despite being a nightly) The team has been supporting the Xoom for over a year and is very committed to the Xoom.

As for flashing, just gotta make sure your text is good before hitting the enter key. Recovery flash should look something like this:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Some instructions for flashing can be found here
While that page is specifically for locking and flashing to return to stock, the commands are universal for fastboot. Hell, if you wanted to, you could manually restore a nandroid backup via fastboot and flashing images.

[Q] Upgrade to Jellybean

I'm rooted with the stock ROM, and my bootloader is unlocked using the Motorola website.
What's the easiest and effective way to upgrade to the newest (Jellybean) OTA update?
Also, I forgot I had rooted because I installed the OTA and tried to apply it but of course it failed.
Now when I start my phone up...it will load then a couple seconds later, it shuts down and boots into CWM.
What can I do?
Easiest way at this point is probably to use RSD Lite and wipe the phone with one of the FXZ's.
Then wait for the OTA and flash it.
You can't flash OTA's on aftermarket recoveries. You have to be on stock recovery to take the OTA......
Edit - link for reference.

It's pretty straightforward IMHO. The only "wrinkle" is having to edit the .XML files - which is noted int he first post.

You're on Sprint right? I'd grab the latest Sprint FXZ, which is currently:

Hopefully the Sprint FXZ for JB will land, and people can just flash straight to it

Yea, RSD should reboot your phone into fastboot mode and start flashing.
If it doesn't, you might have to enable adb... I can't remember as I always have adb setup/enabled

don't start adb from a command prompt. RDS will take care of that. USB debugging must be enabled on your phone in developer options.

RSD l ite is really easy. You need to have fastboot installed on the PC/phone and you need to enable debugging. Then its as easy as 3 steps. Find the file, choose flash. Forget the 3rd step.... Its really easy.

Other than editing that XML file and getting fastboot working, RSD is quite simple to use

Sounds like you don't have the drivers. Go to motorola.com and make sure you have the latest / correct drivers. RSD is a moto program so with Moto drivers and RSD lite you should have no problem. You also need to have fastboot on both your phone and the computer.
Then you may need an xml editor to remove those files (I have to every time) and after that its really easy.
Open RSD Lite
Connect Phone
Select File
Decompress and Flash

[Q] Orange France Version of XT925 and no LTE/4G

I bought a Motorola XT925 on ebay branded Orange France and loaded with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 firmware.
The phone was sold to me as a 4G/LTE capable device. Not seeing an option for 4G/LTE in the phones menu, I then dug around the Orange France web portal. There it says the phone is not 4G/LTE compatible. This was confirmed by Motorola France.
So my big question: is the radio hardware in this Orange France phone the same as an XT925 that I would by from Rogers Canada, but just not initialized for 4G/LTE? Or is the actual Radio hardware different? Even Motorola France was not able to tell me over the phone about the exact hardware.
Do I have a hope to get 4G/LTE working on this phone?
I want to try a Rogers firmware on this phone, but don't want a 200,00$ paperweight.
Thanks for reading.
is the bootloader unlocked? check by booting into apfast mode. Moto website can unlock your BL if needed, after that you can test any firmware and flah any radio of course with caution .There is hope.

I have a custom recovery utility installed after rooting and unlocking the bootloader and just completed a backup on the phone. I figure since the phone is wearing jelly bean 4.1.1 I ought to be able to take the Rogers firmware jellybean 4.1.2 and flash that onto the phone. Just not sure how to make sure that the modem gets flashed when I do fastboot flash system system.img. So I am looking around to piece together the instructions on how to flash the modem or does the system image contain all I need for the modem and all else?
I kinda like the lock screen on the Orange.fr firmware -- has a sliding mute feature that might not stick around after a system flash. minor detail though as all I really want is a working LTE device.
Thanks

RSD Lite is a windows utility and at the present time I do not have a windows computer. I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed the recovery successfully with mfastboot for linux. So that;s where I am at. ( I find it ironic that a phone OS based oin linux should be largely dependent on a non-linux OS. Strange but true.

I have downloaded the 4.1.2 Rogers firmware but to be honest I don't know exactly what or how to do with the zip file. I've opened the archive -- I even flashed the modem and all the rest of the blobs onto the phone, one by one based on a batch file from another archive. What happened was I lost my patience waiting for the phone to reboot as it appeared to be stuck on the Motorola boot logo. (Maybe it was rebuilding the cache??) I used the recovery to get the phone back. So if you can give me a clue as to what to do exactly with the firmware zip -- much appreciate your council.

I dug up an old netbook with xp on it and managed to use RDSlite it to flash the Rogers firmware and voila! Full service phone. except for one tiny snag. Earlier I had installed a custom recovery utility cwm6.2.2.8-XT925(epinter) and it worked. Now though the cwm recovery util got wiped and my subsequent attempts to re-install fail. Thats what I have as a linux version (mfastboot). Got it from a link posted by @ATTACK and it worked properly before I flashed 4.1.2 today. So something does seem to have changed. I no longer have permission to erase with the mfastboot utility. And I am refering to permission on the device not in my local shell. I sudo to the shell locally then run fastboot which returns the following:
gryphon platform-tools # fastboot erase recovery

erasing 'recovery'...

FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.034s

i have fought that error before but dont recall what solved it. Either another recovery or flashing with fastboot, or mfastboot.

I have the android-sdk installed and the fastboot included is known to cause problems with image files that are large. Thats where mfastboot comes in handy.
Now everytime I powercycle the phone fastboot appears on the screen and shows a failed flash notice. I'd like to clear up this issue pronto. what a pain . An adventurous pain
Maybe flash a different recovery with it hopefully overwrite what's in the phone. If not, flashing 4.1.2 with rsd and a fresh recover maybe an easier way. Even European 4.1.2 rtfr modified to get kk update. There is a thread:make your xt 925 updatable. Check it out, you may kill two birds with 5 stones

Good news! I got the fastboot flash failure flag cleared away and cwm recovery reinstalled. Still can't flash anything with fastboot of any stripe and I am betting this is because the image files in the sbf archive are signed. My phone is now vritualy identical to any Fido branded phone, complete with a Fido boot logo. Cute.
There ought to be a way to overwrite signed images, besides waiting for a new firmware release. The bootloader is unlocked and phone rooted yet fastboot flashing is not currently possible.
How can I unlock the signed images on my phone?
BTW heres my gps.conf. Whats your interest in this file?
