The kernel is still 3.0.8. But it is coded at April 20th.
Root is also available. And it is ok to flash back to ICS.
You need to flash Asian 2.3.6 and then you can flash any edition of ICS
give me your email address and i'll send u the link.(I don't have right to post any links in my thread)
And the most important:I am not sure if this JB is adapted to MB865(ATT)

Just one more thing.. Can you request him to share the signatures or anything that can help us unlock the bootloader? Or at least the source for jb kernel? Or just try to get him in contact with any of the devs here..
We have kexec.. So we can boot custom kernels.. But the problem is the kexec compatible kernel is for RAZR and other omap4 only.. On our atrix 2, there are some more changes that need to be done to get it working on all atrix 2 (there is an ESD version touchscreen.. That requires some changes..) I have been working on this for quite some time now.. But if I can contact him, things will get a lot easier and quicker.. Any way thanks a lot again to Frank-Wang and all of you guys.. We can surely make this phone reach its true potential if we work together...

Sorry that I didn't see your declaration that the email address is not monitored.I replied your email...
Here is my email:
All our Chinese A2ers are concerned about if Moto could unlock our A2s' BL.And the only way we have to contract Moto(Beijing) is through Frank-Wang.However Frank-Wang had leaved Moto at about March 2013,and yesterday's Leak JB4.1.2_404 edition was coded by his own Rom team. All the team members were Frank-Wang's co-workers in Moto
In the past several months, many Chinese A2ers had pressurized Moto(Beijing) on BL issue,so did Frank-Wang.But we get no reply.Yesterday after we get the latest edition of JB 4.1.2.We asked Frank-Wang on his blog:"Does the release of JB4.1.2_404 edition mean we cannot unlock the BL forever?" Frank-Wang replied seriesly:This is a serious violation of discipline.
Maybe we cannot get any more useful information from Frank-wang from now on.But all the Chinese A2ers are appreciate to Frank-Wang.
Some other information: one Rom developer called"Tear-Big"(Sorry,I don't know his official English name). He has developed the 3.0.31 kernel and he recoded CM10&10.1 on A2.Recently I got some news that CM team had contacted Tear-Big and decided to support A2 officially,is it true?
All the above is A2's situation in China. My English is poor....Sorry for those mistakes...
Thanks for xda-developers' hard work for our A2
Thanks!
can frank-wang rekease the certificates so that we can sign custom kernel and flash then without bricking

Well, I don't know about tear big, but xda dev hashcode has developed the kexec callable kernel and Wang(wanggjghost) ported it to a2 (not completely unfortunately.. He ported only the radios..) No idea about official support but I did read that somewhere.. Also regarding the kernel you mentioned, how exactly can we use it? Kexec?
And relax.. Your English is just fine.. A lot of us here are people whose native tounge is not English..

My ROM (not really..) is PAC man.. The kernel Wang ported has some deficiencies.. It does not include some drivers.. So the problem is, some of just cannot get his kernel to boot up.. No one in China has this kind of issue? Right now we are using/building non kexec versions.. They just use 2nd init. And they have the ui tearing.. Like the non kexec version of cm10.1..

No, the only difference that i found for the moment, it's the aosp icons in the topbar.

User Kholk says he has a working bootloader bypass for the GSM razr, which basically allows him to run a unsigned kernel on the razr, which has a locked bootloader, it works, but still loading the motorola bootloader and kernel, but after booting the stock bl and kernel, it bypasses them and boots again in a unsigned custom kernel. here is the razr thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519448 and here is a thread about talks of porting it to the droid 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594406&page=3 . if they port it to the droid 3 id say there is a good chance it could be ported to the atrix 2 and other similar moto devices.
This basically wont be much different that having a fully unlocked bootloader XD and will lead to easier AOSP based rom development, and of course allow for custom kernels to be loaded !!!
We already have e memebr here that is working on the port and as soon as he gets permission will get it to us

I'm not being rude I swear I'm just wondering why only one person can can work this port at a time, isn't it kinda the more minds the faster it goes? I'm sure there is some red tape or a good decent reason I'm just curious...
I wasn't saying you couldnt work on it, I was just stating that we have a memeber here who has been working on it and probably has it ready to release, he is just waiting for Kholk to release it and word that he can relaease it.

Kholk released it today, for razr, but cpu1 (2nd core) still isnt working, but its something XD
AT&T put extra security measures in the a2.those are making the kexec bypass much harder to implement on our phone.the member working on it is working closely with kholk, embeem and others to get this done.

I have 15 days left before I can return my Atrix 2. I truly despise this POS device because of the lack of an open bootloader. That is my fault for not checking on here before I bought it. My questions is, should I just return it or is an unlocked bootloader on the horizon, (3 weeks or so. Heh heh). Thanks.

As far as the bootloader goes we'll call it even odds on being unlocked eventually. However I have spoken with the developer working on kexec for the A2 and it is nearly ready. He's just got a couple of issues to work out before releasing it to everyone. Don't give up a2 owners, hope is on the horizon!

If you take a look in the bootloader unlock thread, I posted a link to grab the one Kholk released. I worked on this for months, and tested it and compiled and worked with these guys and on my own.... But Kholk has released it, and it has been tested and it is working, but we now need a kernel. I am working on releasing my CM7 kernel and build here very soon.

Do a search... we already have done something similar, it is slow, and not worth it, since we don't have space on the internal storage to put the 2nd ROM, so it MUST go on the SDcard.
It was abandoned due to the fact that it was so slow it was unusable. Besides there are many of us that have been working to get CM7 and CM9 working from a port without success.... but you are more than welcome to jump in and lend a hand, we have a post in the dev section about it for aokp and CM9.

Do you mean as in a multi boot?
The Defy I had, I flashed a defy+ sbf too then plonked cm9 on, no 2nd rom/boot or such.
My understanding was that the purpose of 2nd init was to hijack the init process and allow to boot into boot manager.
I'm also guessing bootmanager would need to be built from source to suit the A2?
I've read a few of your posts mate, worked with Linus? Legend.
You will by far know more than I do these days, but I'll see what I can do to help.
First I'll deodex the ics leak I'm running and make a Cwm backup to upload. Not sure how useful it will be due to the kernel.
The U.S, Europe and Asia hardware is all different?
The one last thing I remember from defy was I had to use at&t baseband since telecom nz uses the same carrier frequency.
And ran the defy+ rom on old red lense ddfy without a single issue at defy+ stock clock freq

Yeah we used a util called safestrap that another dev and I patched to make it work on this phone that was originally from hashcode.
It allowed us to boot another ROM on say our SDcard, but again it still has to use our kernel due to the bootloader issue...
The only way around the bootloader as of now is by using kexec, and that only works with 1 CPU and can only load a "stock based" unsigned kernel, so the CM stuff is out.
We are working to get CM9 and or AOKP booting from a port on our phone using the stock GB kernel. There is a post on it in the dev section.
Yeah Linus is a Friend, a great guy and I can't say enough good things about him. I have not seen him since the last Linux world / Opensource world now as it is called.
Yeah you should jump in and join the frey, we can always use more help in here.
Well it wasn't hard to work out how to get a 2nd init style boot. (As in, blue light, press vol down, gets bootmenu)
Except bootmenu is garbled screen. I need to test more, and probably mod some of the scripts.
Heres a system nandroid of ICS http://www.4shared.com/archive/bp3qzA9o/Atrix2-ICS-NANDROID__672112asi.html
Dunno how much use it will be since I didn't get the kernel.
Got it.... thanks
I have been using miui.for XT701 for a long time。 everything works very well.but I feel very bad after i buy a new Atrix 2 last month. rom for A2 is little。there is no roms such like CM7/9 and miui. It seems that make a miui for A2 is easier. Can any one make one for our Atrix 2 .Thank
you very much.
And Please forgive me for English。
Sorry but that is not possible right now.
We have a locked bootloader on the atrix2 so, there is not a way to install non-stock ROMs until we can figure a way to get the bootloader unlocked. This also applies to AOSP and AOKP ROMs as well. The issue is these all require kernels to run, and you can not flash a kernel with a locked bootloader.
The ATRIX 2's bootloader is locked, therefore such roms as you've mentioned will not be 1) made for the ATRIX 2 nor 2) work on the ATRIX 2 until the bootloader is unlocked. A few simple forum searches could have shed some understanding regarding this, had you taken the time to do so. We're all getting unnecessarily frustrated seeing new locked bootloader-related and ICS/JB threads posted here when doing a little leg work to research on your own before cluttering up the forum would answer most -if not all of your questions. Please read this thread and watch the video (again) so hopefully we can manage to quell these types of things before they get out of hand more than they've already gotten: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778853

Where? You created a thread, but never put any ROM in that thread, in the dev section, plus it was for the ME865 not the MB865.
I will give you a system image, if you can actually produce the ROM and post it in the dev section. If I don not see it in there in the next week, I will hunt you down... JK... I will PM you with a link, but YOU CAN NOT share this with the world yet, we are not quite ready to support this yet.

There's always a benefit of root my friend. First and for most is removing bloarware (AT&T preinstalled apps that take up memory and space in background) So many other reasons why root is best. How I describe it to people is like this. Taking a Governor off a car is similar to rooting an android phone. Technically there is only one ROM made from OTA ICS right now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960679 but there are others in the development section built of previous ICS "Leaks" we obtained. Such as SCV7, Swifty Trix, CM10, MIUI and a stock based off OTA as well. Hope this helped explain a little. Enjoy the power of the Dark side!

Umm, cm10 is a true opensource rom and not based on any leak/OTA, it is compiled from scratch. The only files taken from ICS are a few libraries and kernel modules and the like, and those have no bearing on version of ICS they were taken from.

Yes, your right Jim. CM is device-wide... forgot to mention that. Shouldn't mater what version of ICS your on. As far as other ROMs go for on this device, as far as ICS goes, like I stated, one (two including stock/rooted) is only based off the official OTA ICS build. How did I know you'd come to CM's rescue in here Jim? lol. JP...keep up the good work man. Looking forward to your CM10 build! (Checking forums every half hour lol)

Thanks man, you know I'm always willing to test as well. Well, as long as there's no hard brick possibility in the process lol. But with this new fxz back to ICS stock I'm feeling more secure now hahaha. Yes, I would be the perfectionist too if it came to making my own ROM. Probably why I never have attempted yet. Too much work n stress for me to handle. I give you Dev'so credit! Thanks for sharing link man. I'll give it a go n let you know how everything runs. (If I find anything new)

Tester
I am probably not an ideal tester, due to lack of technical knowledge regarding Android, but should you need a tester of the moderate abilities, and knowledge I would be more than willing to be of help if I actually was help. I currently am running the build of CM10 that is currently available, and am impressed with it, but look forward to your build with much anticipation. I can only take off my hat, as it were, to you, and all of the developers in this arena.

Ok if i use this method to root my atrix 2, can i unroot after that?
And i’ve heard that there are problems that is experienced by other atrix 2 users(superuser versions 3.0.3 and above), how do i fix that?
My atrix 2 is running stock ics from the official OTA , before that it was running 2.3.6 unrooted ,stock.
Thanks in advance for clearing my doubts.

No, and no. No on 2nd system because it still uses the same underlying stock ICS kernel.
If you took the OTA, then you are stuck on ICS. This has been the case with major android releases and not being able to go backward for a very long time.

No!! The bootloader is still locked.
CyanogenMod is open and if a known dev makes a request for a branch to be made official it only needs an approval from other "official" CyanogenMod devs/board members. A review by the requested members, is all that is needed to make it an official branch.

my camera cannot record in 1080p either
i tried to flash cm10.1.3 with jbx 0.8.1 based on
1. hktw 4.0.4(220), bl version is 0.65, bmm version is 0.3.4
2. hktw 4.1.2(404), bl version is 0.65, bmm version is 0.3.4
3. hktw 4.1.2(404), bl version is 0.73, bmm version is 0.3.4
it seems nothing difference...
it is really much stable, but, i cant trust in it..., my phone crashed about 3 times in a month,
now, i flashed the cm10.1.3 based on a Asia 4.0.4, and i will let it run some day to test
btw, another question
does your phone run on cm10.1.3?
if so, what's the name of the sd card in setting->storage,
it's very strange in my phone, it's named 'connecting to xxx vpn...', not 'sd card', i dont know why and how to change it to be normal...

Nothing official from CyanogenMod, I'm afraid. We'd have to live with the unofficial builds only. And also, I guess, there would be no fix for 1080p recording or HDMI issues.
