Do you want P6800 JB custom kernel development? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have built a P6800 JB custom kernel from MD3 source.
FOR P6800 GSM/3G device running JB MD3 ONLY
It has compiled without errors.
Kernel compression = Gzip
Added NTFS filesystem support
General optimze for size
Support for paging of anonymous memory (swap)
Pegagsus governor set as default (although didn't see any module compiled.....)
Removed powerSave & userSpace governors
Default IO scheduler = NOOP
As I don't have the device (only P6810), I can't actually test myself...........
If you wish to test, only first EXPERIENCED SENIOR member to volunteer (reply in this thread) to test and give proper feedback will receive the links by PM.
I have 4 files :
Odin (.tar) & CWM (.zip) flashable .tar for both stock and SkyHigh kernels.
There may be a RISK involved, but if you choose to accept, you assume all responsibilty.
If the kernel works/partially, I MAY continue further development by adding various features :
example only - OC/UV, frandom support, tweaks, governors, io schedulers, and other modules etc. Some method, I cannot test until my P6810 is upgraded
I will not release sources/changes as this kernel is not for public release ! Only, MAYBE if it actually works....(Plus I have to find out how to upload repo to github anyway )
Up to you guys to, otherswise this stalls here.
Cheers,
UITA

I think i can give it a go.

I'd be happy to test for you, the main interest for me would be UV the CPU/GPU and screen.
Probably doesnt help but this kernel (Hirox version) does the job amazingly, stops my phone from heating up in the slightest with no loss of performance and great battery life

Pretty slow development due to not having device and also phone/net off for two days now. Have to go away for a few days too..... Thanks to edan1979;nutley for testing and feedback thus far.
Just impatiently waiting for the JB update for P6810, so I can download the source and mirror development for both kernels. Things would speed up then.

cant seem to add picture in PM... current SS...

Real nice, as I said, "baby steps", otherwise it would too hard to know where I went wrong with too many additions at once.
Will work on it again late Wednesday night or Thursday, so expect beta_v0.8 then

[KERNEL] AT&T Stock-ish 0.3 BLN/USB-OTG/NFS/FUSE/init.d/adb root/boot animation

This is a mostly stock AT&T kernel I've packaged up. Its features include the BLN patch, USB-OTG support and in-kernel NFS and FUSE modules. The ramdisk has been tweaked to support init.d scripts, adb as root and boot animations (on those ROMs that support it - such as my Alien ROM).
I've tried to keep any other changes to a minimum. There is no UV/OC patching, etc as this kernel along with Alien ROM already perform outstanding.
You can grab it here.
Version 0.2 with NLS UTF-8 support is here.
Version 0.3 based on the UCLA3 kernel is here. I recommend you use the UCLA3 modem from here.
If you want to revert to stock AT&T 2.3.6 UCKK1, you can get it here. Thanks to pookieguy for the stock files!

Sent via rooted SkyRocket
Battery life is the best I've seen. I'm running this on Skyrocketeer with the conservative governor set and the screen off frequency set at 192. Unlike Da_G's higher performance kernel, this one keeps the 2nd core offline until there is a heavy load, greatly increasing my battery life. I still get a 6400 score on CF-bench, while overclocked to 1.78 on Da_G's I get around 7800.
NM i got it.

[Kernel] ardatdat kernel v1.8.3 [CWM] (2012-07-22) ** NEW RELEASE **

Dear all,
The v1.8.3 kernel is ready!
Special thanks to Adi_Pat for the ram hack coding!
So, if you are worry that this kernel will brick your machine or not stable, you are suggested not to flash this kernel. And if you have flashed it, you can always go back to previous kernel.
v1.8.2 is a private beta, in order to avoid confusion, I mark up the public release version to v1.8.3.
The major updates are listed below:
v1.8.3 (based on newest ZSLE6 kernel source)
==================================
- Support for all ROMs (including ZSKK5, ZSLE6, etc...)
- Available RAM increases to 853MB (increased by 129MB when comparing with stock)
- This kernel can support OC to 1320Mhz. By default, it is not OC, you need to OC using software like SetCPU
- Touch panel revert back to 5 points multi-touch as it is more stable
- Support EFS auto backup! EFS is auto backup to /data/.ardatdat/
- TCP/IP & SD Card tweaks are applied
- All features of v1.8.1 are kept, including Voodoo sound enhancements, auto-brightness control and etc
Please kindly download the kernel below and flash through CWM recovery:

v1.8.1 could be found there:

Finally, flash at your own risk! Please feed back how you feel and don't hesitate to give me a 'thank' & donations if the kernel works great for you

Yes RAM gets allocated according to the kernel version you flash. So if 1.8.1 did not have RAM hack GPU would get the default allocation and you'll get 724MB free RAM.
After flashing 1.8.1 check the Task Man what you see there is what you get.
Hope this helps.

Set the user agent of your mobile's browser as 'Desktop' then you can download data from mediafire.
Here's how to do it:
Change stock browser's user agent:
Type 'about:useragent' in the stock browser to select 'Desktop' from a list of user agents available.
You can find the other tricks here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583928
Hope this helps.

[KERNEL][WIP][Updated 30 Oct] MazWoz JB Kernel

MazWoz JB AOSP KERNEL
Introducing the MazWoz JB kernel for the HTC Evo (Supersonic). This started as a quest to improve battery life on the OG Evo. I have added a new governor "mazwoz" based off of the smartassv2 governor. I have also added the deadline I/O scheduler.
Code:
30 Oct 2012 - Initial build
Added mazwoz governor - based on smartassv2
Added deadline IO scheduler
2 Nov 2012 - v0.1
Added SBC
8 Nov 2012 - v0.2
Added HAVS (Hyper Active Voltage Scaling) code
Fixed memory leak in MazWoz Governor
Thanks to preludedrew (Evervolv) for the initial kernel tree/work
Thanks to atyoung for being awesome and giving me a lot of good ideas
Thanks to Tiamat for the initial SBC code I used as a base
The Good
Code:
Improved performance
Better read/write speeds
Better battery life
HWA
SBC (If you want it)
The Bad
Code:
Battery life can still be better
2D performance can still be better *** needs work
Will attempt to work on camera drivers

No clue if it was related to this kernel or not, but this morning I flash it over on JMZ's CM10 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785498). In the afternoon after a text message (I had received earlier messages), the phone rebooted and then was stuck at the booting screen of Cyanogenmod. I left it for about 15 minutes with no change. I pulled the batter and let it sit again. I ended up booting into recover and clearing the cache/d-cache/temp and it booted correctly. I did this clearing also initially before flashing the kernel.

Battery Life, yes it may be terrible as its only beta version. Its not because of OC. Its because i have not included all the tweaks needed for battery life. Still its in testing stage. Reason for including OC and having only 1.2 ghz is to test whether its preventing the game lag. Generally when i OC with limits and intermediate ranges as 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, mostly the mobile clock in 1.1 ghz and very rarely going to 1.2 ghz. So i skipped 1.1 and included only 1.2 ghz.. Just a testing.
Will you add BFQ scheduler at a later stage? I have good experience with that and have been using it since I moved permanently to CM.

Let's try again : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 - it's a "fixed" kernel by codeworkx for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, my other device, which also had serious lags and freezes in ICS as our Galaxy R. Hope there is magic you can add from that to your kernel.
Ok now..included intermediate freq of 1100 and then the BFQ scheduler as suggested by Adam. Getting few compiler errors for BFQ. Will check it tomorrow.
And finally setup the environment for AOSP build. As Ubuntu 12.04 was not supporting all the branches to do AOSP build (though its gud for kernels), now setup a diff environment using 10.04. Will Start init/sync tomorrow.
Nice work buddy! You can spare a lot of upload bandwidth by adding a '.gitignore' file. It tells git to ignore the specified files so they will not be pushed. Get one (specified for kernels) here: https://github.com/Adam77Root/android_kernel_samsung_i9103/blob/jellybean/.gitignore

Thanks a lot buddy. I surely need tat because of my poor data bandwidth.
Testers needed for CM10 kernel
Friends,
Need some testers for a new CM10 kernel. I have not even tried it as im doing some testing with ICS kernel in my device. So those who are about to test, have a back-up and then test this kernel. No special features added yet. Just wanna check whether its boots-up in cm10.

Sooo...did you find anything useful in that blamesamsung kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 ?

[KERNEL] [Samsung JB] Boeffla-kernel 5.3-beta7 <29-06-2014>

Boeffla Samsung Kernel by AndiP
Ported and compiled by Hbohd and P$T
For i9305
Introduction
Note: The 4.x kernels are only for Samsung based 4.1.x roms!!! Do not install it on CM or AOSP based roms!!!
The 5.x kernels are only for Samsung based 4.3 roms!!! Also do not install it on CM or AOSP based roms!!!
After ausdim's contribution to porting variety of kernels to our phone, I am here to continue his work (he won't maintain it any longer because he simply doesn't own this phone now). Updates will be made as soon as Andi will push them to github.
Here is original thread of i9300 boeffla kernel - CLICK
Here is thread with boeffla ported by ausdim - CLICK
Info
Kernel is compiled using Linaro 4.9.1 with some required changes for our i9305:
No FM radio
No CMA_DMA
No flash and load in Boeffla App
New 'Hbohd preset' and 'PST preset' which are just our everyday use settings.
New 'Hbohd' and 'PST' equalizer preset - just our favorite.
Apart from that, everything is same as in i9300 version.
Please for any questions problems or anything else ask here and not on I9300 thread.

Make sure you flash the correct version depending on your firmware version!
I can and will not take any responsibility for bricked phones or lost data.
It is generally recommended to run a complete Nandroid backup in CWM recovery and safely store your personal data before you flash a new kernel.

Camera bug info:
It appears that some people (like me) have problem with camera. In exactly THIS situation: do full wipe, flash sammy rom+boeffla kernel, reboot and launch camera. Effect? Camera closes with "camera failed" popup.
Possible solution:
1. Read this thread and follow steps --> click
2. Flash Sammy Rom with stock Sammy kernel, run the camera, take a photo, then reboot to recovery and flash my ported kernel
3. Flash Sammy Rom with stock Sammy kernel, run the camera, take a photo, grab file (SlimISP_XX.bin, where XX differs between phones) from /data/cfw/ and backup it where you want. Then if you can always copy it to /data/cfw if your camera doesn't work with my ported kernel. (ATTENTION: Unfortunately this file does not always appear - still don't know why )
Possible explanation, my own research:
I found out that people with ZD and GD will have camera working always. Why? Because these (SlimISP_XX.bin, where XX differs between phones) files are packed within kernel (zImage exactly) and ONLY THESE two are provided by Samsung in their opensource release... Interesting, isn't it? For example, I have GH version, which I may add to zImage manually, however adding more of them breaks the size limit for boot partition, so it's impossible to have all these versions together. However, stock kernel somehow has them, don't know how because zImages aren't extractable.
And just to confirm my theory, I've compiled a kernel with mine version of camera firmware, made full wipe, installed sammy rom+my kernel, rebooted, launched camera and voila - it worked
Thus, we has to live with this bug unless Samsung do something about it or someone else proves me that I'm wrong

I compiled it after adding my own script for zzmoove 0.5 settings, so you all have them in boeffla app. Therefore I need to explain what i changed (it is just for testing purposes, I don't know yet if it is better/worse etc).
I enabled early demand (new feature from 0.5 version):
And also enabled lcdfreq scaling with standard values:

Thanks.
Do you have any link or something where we can read about zzmoove governor tunables? I was searching, and searching and nowhere have I found a good explanation of all parameters.
I should probably look into sources you just gave a link for, but I am too tired atm.
Edit:
Oh that wasn't link to sources, but it doesn't matter, there has to be one somewhere in Boeffla thread.

My 'sources' are only one file - defconfig. The rest is completely same as Andi's sources
And for any explanation of zzmoove configurables - there is some documentation, quite well explained: https://github.com/andip71/boeffla-...48257af1b13/drivers/cpufreq/cpufreq_zzmoove.c
Cheers
Thanks for the port.
Over night I find this one better on battery than the last port. See how it goes with a bit of heavy usage today.

Hi Hbohd. So, let me see if I get it: this port will no longer be updated, and you are now the good guy that will continue to update Boeffla kernel to our beloved I9305?

Yes, you are completely right Ausdim has even mentioned in his thread that he no longer owns our device (i9305) so I decided to ask for his permission to continue his job here !
I am quite in love with usage results of Boeffla kernel, therefore you do not have to worry about frequent updates
Hbohd it will continue the port of the boeffla kernel since i moved to the i9505.
Also i see Andip make some changes to the boeffla sound driver so it will work better.
Thank's
After 1 day with new kernel I can say the battery improve are the best an till now. Great job

Well, I'm sad that a developer leaves this phone, but it is awesome to know that Boeffla will continue to be ported to I9305! The best part is the frequent updates Thumbs up!
I'm gonna try your port and will say something later.
beta6
I found 2.12beta6 very smooth on my wife's s3 (i9300) - is it possible to have beta6 for our device? (i9305)

What if I told you...
Beta7 is better than beta6
Thanks for your work.
Do you have any information about problems with distorted sound? It happens randomly here, and someone else reported the same here in this thread.
Have you used Perseus kernel? What do you think about 'Master sequence', that is calibrated colors? I am missing that feature (well, that colors.) a little, so I'm just asking if there is any chance we get it too, or you plan to stay strictly with pure Boeffla source?

Beta7 is with zmoove 0.5 which is unstable at the moment - beta6 with 0.3
Besides beta6 is so great on my wife's phone that I'm afraid of changing anything

Sincerely, I haven't experienced any random distortions of sound, everything works great. Obviously, if you raise headphone or speaker volume too high, it may be distorted, but it is understandable.
Or did you want to mention the problem with distorted/freezing/stuttering audio on screen-off? That was discussed and it might be caused due to too low screen-off frequency or too high sampling_rate and sampling_rate_sleep_multiplier. If it's the problem, try to change to zzmoove-optimised as it has this values changed a little bit.
About Perseus' screen calibration settings... As for now, introducing such thing would require adding multiple scripts to support variety of configurations for it (in boeffla app), change app to stweaks (which is quite tough task) or wait for new app which will come in some time, made by Andi (and in my opinion, will let us easily configure what we want).
What's more, personally I liked these calibrated colours, however, original colours also seem good to me So nowadays, I do not need it, although I might look at it in my free time and see what can I achieve

The fact is, that ausdim released beta4 or 5, I don't remember exactly, and then was my release beta7. And we somehow skipped beta6, you are right! However if I were you, I wouldn't take zzmoove 0.5 as 'unstable'. It introduces a great deal of new configurables that, I suppose will be really beneficiant in the future (when we all will learn what they mean ).
Version 0.5 is ONLY unstable when you are changing governors frequently. Otherwise, it is really efficient and bettery-friendly one (same as 0.3). In addition, it's my beloved governor since its start
Furthermore, new betas always consist of other updates (like Linux kernel upstream to 3.0.82, fixes, optimizations) so it is always worth to use the newest one!
As for now, you may stay with your actual beta version or wait for next update. Andi is testing comparison between zzmoove 0.3 and 0.5 right now, so he haven't pushed any sources, therefore I can't release any new update We are all impatiently waiting for the results i think!
Anybody experienced a problem when the phone CPU is stuck in the max CPU frequency when the phone is plugged in to the PC using USB connection?
I'm using zzmoove battery profile..
